Jefferson City, the state capital of Missouri and now about to be the biggest challenge for the United States military to stop the centaurs. At least three devisions were deployed at the capital, SAM missile sites and anti-air guns were placed on every building, machine gun positions placed on the corner of every block, the people living in the state capital were evacuated. The military deployed a railgun, an experimental weapon design to fire rounds ten times the speed of sound. By the time the centaurs were set to attack, the U.S was ready for the battle, and poised to win.

The centaurs didn't get this far without resistance, not just from the defenders; but also from the weather. During ending of the first half of the invasion, it was 'tornado season' in the Midwest. Which caused catastrophe to the centaurs when tornados cut right through them. Not only that, fuel was also an issue. As their vehicles ran by draining magic around them, Earth however, was devoid of magic of any form. The battleships could produce small amounts, but not enough to suffice the troops on the ground. Centaur rifles were also degrading in preference, as they too used magic to enhance the killing power of their bullets. Though they still were effective, no one was sure how long their effectiveness would last.

"HERE THEY COME!!!!" A solider yelled out, about ready to unleash his fury upon the incoming centaurs.

Soon buildings occupied by soldiers unleashed bullets apon the centaurs. As they had no tanks support for cover, the centaurs were cut down causing them to pile up creating a wall of dead centaur.

"Centaur aircrafts inbound, one mile out." A soldier manning a radar said.

"Fire some missiles at them." Another soldier said. A few seconds later, one long range SAM missile was launched, then followed by another for minute until the sky was filled with streams of missile smoke.

Looking out from the top of a apartment complex, Sargent Bradly spotted waves of centaurs being cut down by the troops in the first defensive line.

"Sargent centaur reinforcements are on their way." A soldier said.

Looking at the Reports from Unmanned drones, Bradly asked, "How long, private?"

"A mile out sir," the private said, "order in a airstrike?"

"Negative private," the Sargent said, "don't want to risk it, order artillery strikes instead."

"Yes sir."

"Make sure to not target our guys out there."

F-15's and F-15E's of the first fighter division flew over the state capital, providing air superiority while carrying out air strikes when called upon. The division consisted of thirteen squadrons, which each squadron consisted of twenty aircraft. Three squadrons were flying Apache helicopters as air support, while the rest flew either F-15C's or F-15E's.

"Contact on radar." Firefox 2 said.

"How many Firefox 2?" Firefox 1 asked

"About fifty bogies, no sign of a centaur battleship." Firefox 2 replied.

Just mentioning the word battleship makes everyone jittery, as nothing could stop them. Every thing was thrown at the centaurs battleships, from artillery to missile, launching nuclear weapons at them was out of the question, as it could have severe consequences, as the fallout could render the midwest uninhabitable for millenniums or more.

Moving into position, Firefox 1 locked on to four centaur fighters. Immediately, Firefox 1 launched four missiles at the centaurs. Within minutes, four small explosions dotted the sky.

"Bogies inbound." Forward Air Command said, using all comm channels, "All units prepare to intercept them."

F-15's immediately broke formation and flew straight towards the centaurs, launching missiles at them as well. Soon just like on all encounters with centaur aircraft, dogfights dominated the sky as opponents danced to out maneuver their prey.

***

On the ground, centaurs continue to charge at the defenders, only to be cut down by gunfire from buildings and mortar fire from the U.S soldiers that fought for their country and their comrades next to them.

The city worked in the defenders favor, as centaurs fought in long range, since humanity has learned from experience that close quarter combat happens more often and has developed weapons and skills to suit this type of combat, making it dangerous for the centaurs to clear out occupied buildings, without support from their vehicles.

"Dam," a machine gunner said, " is it bad that were making a pretty big pile of corpses?"

"What do you mean?" Another soldier asked.

"They could use them as cover, allowing them to move closer with every push." The machine gunner explain.

"And where did you learn this?" A soldier asked.

"I'm a bit of a military nut when it comes to tactics." The machine gunner said, with enthusiasm in his voice.

The soldier then asked,"Well smartass, tell me how a bunch of myth-." Suddenly, a centaur tank round entered the second floor of the building, killing everyone within the room. The only thing left was mangled corpuses of the two soldiers unfortunate to be caught in the blast radius of the shell's explosion.

***

"TANK TAKE COVER!!!"

The machine gun ports on the tank aimed at the soldiers on the street, cutting down anything unfortunate to be caught in the gun's field of vision. The turret on top shot at anything that the machine guns couldn't penetrant.

"Someone take out that fucker!"

Immediately someone pulled out a LAW missile launcher and took aim at the tank. After lining up the sights on the tank the soldier launched a anti-tank missile. Within a few seconds the missile nocked the tank out of commission, rendering it useless.

Running towards the tank, while trying to keep out of the machine gunners view, Thomas pointed his M4A1 rifle down the viewport in the front of the tank. "Eat this you pieces of SHIT!!" Thomas said as he emptied his magazine in to the tank. Screams of pure agony was all that came out of the centaur tank, until a few frag grenades were dropped into the tank, ending the occupants suffering.

"Gees, a bit excessive don't you think Thomas?" A soldier asked.

"Nope," Thomas said, " just justified."

"Still a bit excessive on my point of view."

"Alright Dave, what would you have done if they killed your family and friends?" Thomas asked.

"I don't know," Dave said, "I haven't lost anyone who was close to me. I still wouldn't be axe-crazy like those who did lose someone close to them that were killed by centaurs. Besides, you don't have any family near here."

"What do you mean?"

"Doesn't your family live in Alaska?" Dave asked.

"Yeah," Thomas said, "Why dose it matter?"

"Do you think it's justified to go axe-crazy if you haven't lost anyone to these centaurs?" Dave asked.

Thomas didn't say anything, as he couldn't come up with a good reason for why he did. Even though he had no connections, family or friends, he still acted barbaric.

After a minute Dave spoke, "Thought so, now come on, we still got a job to do."

***

Only a mile away from the capital aircraft from both sides exchanged fire with each other, littering the sky with small explosions. The second fighter devision knocked out hundreds of centaurs out of the sky, but still had hundreds more to go.

"Dagger four bandit on your six." A pilot said.

"I'm gonna try and lose him in the clouds." Dagger four said.

Dagger four immediately went towards the nearest cloud, hoping that he would lose his stalker. Entering the large cloud, Dagger four's field of view immediately dropped, as clouds aren't the best thing seeing through.

Apon exiting the cloud Dagger four was greeted with a centaur battleship. Causing fear to take over U.S pilot, and confidence to take over in centaur pilots.

'You've got to be shiting me' Dagger four quietly mouthed.
With in seconds AA guns on the battleship started to light up and shoot at Dagger four, making it difficult to not get shot down. Shrapnel flew into Dagger's left engine intake, causing it to fail. "Come on don't fail on me now." Dagger four said as his F-15 started to fly out of control, headed straight towards the centaur battleship's bridge.

***

A centaur commander stood looking out towards the battle out in front of him. Immediately his sight locked on to the human aircraft flying towards the bridge.

"Intensify AA fire!" The commander yelled, "I don't want anything get
Through!"

AA fire increased shooting down more human aircraft, but the out of control aircraft still flew closer. "Intensify AA fire NOW!!" the commander yelled.

"TOO LATE!!!" A centaur yelled, pointing at the human aircraft about to ram into the battleship.

Immediately the commander jumped down to avoid getting hit, but was useless as the aircraft rammed into the bridge a nearly the speed of sound. The aircraft crashed through the bridge, and destroyed the generator that kept the centaur battleship afloat in the air, along with what kept the centaur aircraft flying.

Immediately the centaur battleship started to fall down to the ground and along with centaur aircraft as well.

***

U.S pilots were in shock of what they just witnessed, the one thing that was considered indestructible was falling down to the earth. Immediately all fighters started to pound the falling ship with everything they could throw, from sidewinders to long-range missiles and their internal 20mm cannons.

When the centaur battleship finally crashed, it created an explosion equivalent to a small nuclear explosion, causing some to lose control for a few seconds.

"This is Forward Air Command, we picked up an explosion from here, was it a nuke?"

"Negative," Dagger three said, "a centaur battleship was knocked out of the sky, I repeat a centaur battleship was knocked out of the sky."

"How was it shot down?"

"The bridge was hit by Dagger four when he was shot down and lost control." Dagger three said.

"Roger that, we'll forward this information to the other fronts."

"Roger that."

"Good work guys, you've just turned the war towards our favor against the centaurs."

***
Within less than a day, the remaining two battleship ships were knocked out of the sky, and the U.S regained air superiority. Within two weeks the centaurs were pushed back into Joplin and back where it all started. By that point, remains from the wreckage of the battleships were analyzed and being replicated. The U.S found out, from interrogating POW's (prisoners of war), that the centaurs came from another planet, and the United States along, with the rest of the world, wasn't going to let the centaurs go back worry-free.
