Chapters The Chronicles of Keyboard Click
Keyboard Click was sitting on his couch in the living room, eating some Pizza Rolls and happily playing Legend of Celestia: Nightmare Moon on his beloved PC. He grinned as he made the yellow-maned colt on the screen defeat yet another minion of the evil Nightmare Moon with a few button taps and Joystick tilts.
The unicorn knew that he had school later, but he had gotten up early and was unaware of how little time remained until the dreaded beginning of the new school year. Keyboard Click continued levitating his controller until he heard his little brother, Windy Field, enter the living room and sit on the couch.
Keyboard Click sat the controller down on the couch and turned to his brother. Windy Field was around 2 years younger than him, and was starting the third grade this year. He had a teal mane, sapphire-like eyes, and a cream coat. He was also a pegasus, and as a result had two tiny wings on both sides of his body. "Click, you DO know that it's 7:00, right?" Windy Field asked, giving his brother an inquisitive look.
Windy Field's older brother responded by facehoofing and replied, "Are you serious? Nopony told me..."
The little pegasus sighed. "Whatever. Click, just get ready for school and come back here. Dad's going to take us to school, so we need to leave by 7:15 to get there on time."
Keyboard Click sighed back and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and freshen up. Once he arrived at his destination, he quickly brushed his mane while looking at himself in the mirror. The pony standing in front of him had an emerald green mane, gold eyes, and a light gray coat. He finished brushing his mane (which was still a bit messy afterwards) and brushed his teeth. After a few minutes of fluoride application, the young colt returned to the living room.
"Alright, I'm back," Keyboard Click announced, "Can you get Dad?" The unicorn stared at his little brother, waiting for him to move.
The colt in question removed himself from the couch and looked at his brother. "Why can't you do it? You're really lazy, Keyboard Click."
Keyboard Click was starting to get impatient. "Just do it this time, okay? All you have to do is walk into Dad's room, tell him we have to go, and we can leave." You were pretty ready to go earlier... The colt thought to himself.
"Alright, alright." The winged foal laughed. He walked to his parents' room and opened the door. He entered the room and found his pegasus father, Platinum, sitting at his computer.
"Good mornin', Dad!" Windy Field exclaimed. "I just thought you should know that it's time to go."
The stallion turned around and smiled at his son. He had an emerald green mane like his son, sky blue eyes, and a dark gray coat. "Okay, Windy. Is Keyboard Click ready yet? He always gets wrapped up in his games and then shows up late to school..."
Platinum's younger son nodded. "Yeah, he got up early to play games but ended up getting lost in their charm."
Platinum wasn't surprised. His older son would always get in trouble about stuff like this. He stopped thinking to himself and simply stated, "Yep, that's Click."
After a few minutes, the trio of ponies arrived at Ponyville's school. In the schoolyard, Platinum turned to face his children. "Well, we're here. Your mom will come by and take you home after work. Have a nice first day, okay?"
The two colts looked at their father and happily stated "We will, Dad!" in unison, before walking towards their school.
Keyboard Click decided to talk to his brother some more, since they wouldn't see each other again for 6 hours. "So..." the gray unicorn inquired, "...are you excited about going into the third grade?"
Windy Field looked at his brother, puzzled. "Why are you asking me that? Of course I'm excited."
The older colt looked embarrassed. "I don't know, I guess I don't want another school year to pass by without anything good happening. I don't really get along with other foals well, you know? None of them really share my interests, and it makes it hard to talk to them."
"It's okay bro, I know you can do it. Just try to find some other gamer foals and you'll feel better." The young pegasus stated optimistically.
Keyboard Click smiled. "You know bro, you're pretty mature for your age."
Windy Field smiled back, as he was about to enter the school house. "I know."
The Chronicles of Keyboard Click
After entering the school building, Keyboard Click separated himself from his little brother and nervously trotted to the fourth grade classroom. Once the unicorn colt had entered, he was greeted by the sight of several rows of desks on a hay floor. The teacher had a pink mane, fern green eyes, and a Mardi Gras coat. She smiled pleasantly at her students.
"Hello, class! I'll be your teacher this year. For those who don't know me or didn't have me when I used to teach third grade, my name is Cheerilee." Cheerilee then picked up a piece of chalk with her hoof and wrote her name on the black board in the front of the classroom.
"Since it's your first day back after summer vacation, we will take some time to introduce ourselves," Cheerilee continued, "And if you have your cutie mark, you may explain how you got it when your turn arrives." She grinned at her students before pointing towards a bored-looking colt in the second row. The colt had a burnt orange mane with an atomic tangerine stripe running through it. He also had orange-red eyes, and a russet coat. On top of his head was a propeller hat, which made him look a little childish to Keyboard Click.
The earth pony colt snapped into focus and looked bewildered. "Oh, um, I'm Button Mash. I like to play video games, and I don't have a cutie mark yet."
Keyboard Click was surprised to hear this. Usually, other ponies would just play video games occasionally, and would favor playing outside instead of gaming. Could he become friends with this colt?
Cheerilee laughed. "That's great, Button Mash. Welcome to our class!" Cheerilee had several other foals introduce themselves before finally arriving at Keyboard Click.
Cheerilee extended her hoof to the young unicorn. "Would the gray colt in the second row like to introduce himself?" She asked softly.
Keyboard Click nodded. "My name is Keyboard Click, and I like to play games on my computer. I haven't gotten my cutie mark yet though, so who knows what it'll be."
Button turned to get a close look at the emerald green-maned unicorn. "Another gamer? He seems pretty cool, maybe I'll talk to him later." he thought to himself.
"That's very nice, Keyboard Click," Cheerilee chimed. "Would the blue pony in the third row like to introduce their self?"
Cheerilee eventually finished letting everypony introduce themselves, and began the regular lesson. After a few hours of Mathematics, Science, and other school subjects, Keyboard Click was exhausted and ready to go home. Finally, the bell rung and class ended.
The bored foals in the classroom were eagerly checking the clock, until the hands finally reached 3:00 and the bell rung. Button Mash had even fallen asleep in the last few minutes of class, and woke up happily at the holy sound of the bell. The earth pony got out of his seat, and walked over to Keyboard Click as the gray unicorn was stuffing his school supplies into his saddlebag.
"Hey, um, my name's Button Mash. I'm a gamer too and was wondering if you could come over and play games with me later." The gamer colt announced.
Keyboard Click grinned. "Sure, I'd love to! Do you like the Legend of Celestia series? I've played all the games." The unicorn colt proclaimed.
Button Mash was ecstatic. "Are you kidding me? That's my favorite game series of all time!"
The gray colt and the earth pony smiled. "Hoofbump?" Button Mash requested.
"Hoofbump." Keyboard Click stated, performing the action.
The Chronicles of Keyboard Click
Keyboard Click excitedly galloped into Ponyville. His mother, Solar Eclipse, had given him permission to visit Button Mash's house and play video games. The elated unicorn thought about what had transpired mere minutes ago.
After class ended and the foals left the school house, Keyboard Click and his younger brother trotted into the school yard and saw their mother waving at them. Solar Eclipse was a unicorn and had a navy blue mane, golden eyes like her first son, and a laser lemon coat. The yellow unicorn looked happily at her children. "How was school, guys?" She inquired.
"Great!" exclaimed Windy Field, "My new teacher was very nice and she allowed us to talk to our fellow students at the end of class."
The unicorn smiled brightly. "That's awesome, Windy! How did your day go, Keyboard Click?" She asked.
Keyboard Click grinned. "It was pretty good! The teacher let us introduce ourselves to our classmates, and I learned that one of the students was named Button Mash and was a gamer like me. After class, he invited me over to his home to play video games with him. Can I go?"
Solar Eclipse thought for a moment. "Wait... I think I know a mare who had a colt named Button Mash. I'll call her and ask if you can go."
The unicorn activated an odd rectangular device by surrounding it in her yellow magical aura. The device, which was apparently called a phone, had a black screen in the center which was now beginning to glow white. The words "Love Tap" appeared on the screen and the phone made a ringing noise. Keyboard Click and his brother looked visibly confused as their mother stepped away and began speaking into the strange rectangle.
After a minute or so, Solar Eclipse trotted back to her sons. "Good news! Button's mom said you could come over, and wanted me to tell you that Button's other friend, Sweetie Belle, is also there."
"Alright!" The young gray unicorn proclaimed, "I'll get going, then. Thanks a lot Mom!"
"Windy Field, do you want to go?" Solar Eclipse inquired.
The pegasus in question shook his head and bluntly declared "No thanks. I'm just gonna stay home to practice my flying and play video games."
Windy Field's mother nodded and gave her confirmation. "Okay then. Keyboard Click, you can go see your new friend." The mare gave her son a kiss on the forehead, causing Keyboard Click to get embarrassed and exclaim "Mom! Don't do stuff like that!"
Solar Eclipse laughed, "Alright, alright. Run along and play now, but remember to be home by dinnertime."
***Back to the current events***
Keyboard Click continued galloping and eventually arrived at Ponyville. "Huff... Huff... Man, I should really exercise more... or at all..."
The gray unicorn looked around and located the house which his mother had described just before he left. "Ah, there it is!" He thought to himself.
The young foal trotted to the house and knocked on the door with his hoof. Sure enough, a mare with a light brown mane, teal eyes, and a tan coat opened the door. The mare smiled. "You must be Keyboard Click. Button Mash and his little friend are inside." The mare gestured to a stairway in the living room, inviting the colt inside. The young unicorn nodded. "Thanks, Button's Mom." He trotted over to the stairs and headed to Button's room.
Love Tap grinned, happy that her son was making so many friends. "Well, I've got some 'special' fiction to read, so I'll just leave them alone." She thought to herself, smirking deviously.
Keyboard Click reached the top of the stairs, and saw a brown door with a D-Pad style insignia on it. Above the symbol were the words 'Button Mash.' Satisfied with his discovery, the unicorn colt knocked on the door and announced, "Hey Button, it's Keyboard Click."
The sound of Button Mash getting up and trotting over to the doorway could be heard, and sure enough the door opened to reveal the young earth pony. "Oh hey, Sweetie Belle and I were playing video games inside. Wanna join?"
Keyboard Click nodded. "You bet!" Button stepped aside and allowed Keyboard Click to enter the room. The room was of decent size, and was filled to the brim with Neighstation 4 and PC games. They were also quite a few Pontendo games, including their Legend of Celestia series. The floor was adorned with a purple shag carpet and a TV was set down on top of a table. Sitting on the carpet was a white furred filly with green eyes and a purple/pink mane.
Keyboard Click sat down next to the filly, followed by Button Mash. "Sweetie Belle, this is Keyboard Click. Keyboard Click, this is Sweetie Belle." Button chimed, getting comfortable on the carpet.
Sweetie Belle faced Keyboard Click, studying him quickly before squeaking, "Nice to meet you, Keyboard Click!"
"Nice to meet you too, Sweetie Belle!" The unicorn laughed, giving Sweetie Belle a hoofbump. "So, what were you guys playing before I arrived?"
Sweetie Belle shrugged. "Button was just showing me that 'Legend of Celestia' game, and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I've only been a gamer for a year, so I'm not that experienced."
Keyboard Click looked visibly excited at this, and began grinning. "Oh, awesome! That's one of my favorite games, along with Breeziemon and Mineshaft!"
Button Mash's eyes lit up. "We can play multiplayer if you want. Sweetie Belle and I play Mineshaft together practically every day!"
"Not really..." Sweetie Belle trailed off, blushing slightly. "But that sounds like it would be a ton of fun! I'll go get another controller, and we can get started on creating characters." The unicorn filly stood up and retrieved the designated item, bringing it back and plugging in into a PC that was lying next to the display. She gave the controller to Keyboard Click and sat back down.
"Thanks a lot, Sweetie Belle." The colt said, holding the controller in his magical aura. He pressed a button on the controller, and a generic looking colt appeared on the screen, waiting to be customized to the player's liking.
After a few minutes, Keyboard Click's character was finished and the game began. The three foals turned to each other and grinned. "Let's do this!" They exclaimed in unison, as the game resumed with Keyboard Click's character joining the previously made ones.
