Never Rest: Sweet Dreams

       “Luna when will you see me again?” A white male Pegasus stands alone in a very dark place. His voice is smooth with a thick Pegasus accent, an accent that is deep and twangs. ”The Pegasus’s sentence echoes throughout the entirety of Luna’s head as she lays in the middle of her room. Her eyes shut her mind open and her body being warmed by a fire in the fireplace nearby. The fire cracks and sends embers flying through the room. The room itself is full of cool and vibrant colors. Blue and purple silk curtains hang on either side of a large stain glass window. Depicting an image of Luna herself standing protecting the night. The rest of the room is small. Enough room for a nice queen sized bed a closet and a large rug. That covers the rest of the small room. The room would be larger if it wasn’t for the beautiful ebony fireplace. Atop the mantle sits her crown dead in the center. The walls are made of white brick of the finest moonstone. Her bed is an unkempt messy blanket lying on the cold stone floor.

       Luna’s eyes open and the door of her room open slowly. The voices in her head stops and a new voice start to echo. The voice is deep calm and kind of chaotic. It talks about one thing and then changes the subject as if to encrypt a message that only the most insane can crack. Then an image of a Chimera Horse looking dragon floats around in her mind. His body is a head of a pony, deer antler on the right, a blue goat horn on the left, one long fang, different sized pupils, a snake tongue, a goat beard, and white bushy eyebrows. He has the right arm of a lion, the left claw of an eagle, the right leg of a lizard, and the left leg of a goat. He also has a bat’s right wing, a Pegasus’ left wing, a horse’s mane, and a dragon-like snake’s tail with a white tail tuft. And his entire body resembles a snake or a Chinese serpent dragon.

       Luna shakes off the voices and turns to see Discord standing before her. He gazes at her with a giant smile. Luna gives him a sharp look and grits her teeth. She leans down in attack mode her wings flap wide open. Discord looks at her and laughs snapping his fingers he appears over her bed and falls down. The bed makes a loud thud sound that echoes throughout the castle. Luna turns around and assumes the same position. “Luna are we really going to go through this every time we agree to meet?” Discord says in his deep regal voice. “Discord why” Luna stops to think of what word to use. Her voice is old-fashioned canterlot. It is very old English American style. Discords eyes roll around as he twirls his eagle claw waiting for her to continue what she has to say. “Why do... you not... knock?” Discord laughs and rolls himself into a ball and rocks back and forth holding his stomach. “Princess you are a riot!” He chuckles a little louder wiping tears from his eyes. Then he stops suddenly and looks at Luna with a straight face. “Because I am curious to see what you are doing princess. What is it do you do behind a closed locked door all by yourself every night.”

       Discord looks at her body and begins to twirl his index finger on the bed and lies on his side towards Luna. Luna gets up from her stance and flattens her wings. She stretches her back. And then glances at his gesture and eases her angry scowl to a smile. “Sure Discord.” Luna says and then suggestively brushes her tail against the bed. She turns around facing away from Discord. Discord snaps his fingers and a door opens in front of her. “So you’re going to come to me and Fluttershy’s thing at the castle later today aren’t you Princess?” Luna laughs. “It all depends on what I and Flare do today. “Discord shakes his head. “Whatever it is I hope its fun. Oh Before you go remember it takes a few to get across the gap.” Luna nods and jumps into the door. Discord looks at the door and closes it behind her. He gets up and sits and stares at it his mood shifting from happy to depressed. His mind races as it usually does however it stops. His eyes widen as he stares at this door. This cherry wood door with gold leafing warped around the outer frame. In the center lies a solid gold emblem depicting the moon. The doorknob is a ball of brass in the center is a square cut ruby. It shimmers with chaos in the center.

He slowly turns away touching it gently as if it meant something deeper than just a dimensional gate. He then walks half way out with a sad expression on his long face. He gets out of Luna’s room and snaps his fingers making the guards wake from their enchanted slumber. They shake their heads and adjust their armor. They clang their long wooden handled silver tipped spears into an X in front of Luna’s door and give Discord a scowl. Both guards are white unicorns. Dressed in roman styled copper armor. The pony on the left has a cutie mark of a map, And the one on the right a cutie mark of a copper shield.  He looks at them with a sad expression and shakes his head. Then with little effort he snaps his fingers. He appears outside a tree house. A single light in the living room flickers.  Inside the home a shadow of a pony dances just out of sight. Discord makes it rain around him as he walks slowly up to the door. He walks on the bridge and up the path to a small door. He knocks as gentle as he can.

       A calm quiet shy sounding voice comes from the other side. “Ugh...  um... who... who’s there?” Discord manages a slight smile. “It’s an old friend of yours. Might I come in out of this rain? The small shacks door makes a series of unlocking noises and the door opens wide. Discord looks down at his yellow Pegasus friend with the long pink mane, and beautiful long tail. On her flank she has three lovely pink butterflies. “Discord!” Fluttershy looks up at the sky and looks around. There isn’t a cloud in the night sky except for a lone cloud over Discords head. “What’s wrong Discord?” A white bunny tugs on Fluttershy’s tail and points at discord and then pointing further inside the house.” Oh right... Ugh… come in out of the um... rain?” Discord bows “Thank you my dearest Fluttershy.” Discord walks in the cloud flashes into a rose and floats into Fluttershy’s mane. Fluttershy smiles and closes the door behind her. Discord sits at the dining room table slumped over his claws claws and paws under his chin. “Dearest Fluttershy... What is my purpose in life? Am I forever going to be chaotic will I ever find my true place in this world?” Fluttershy walks over to the coffee room table after admiring her rose in the mirror near the door across from her many birdcages and animal homes. Fluttershy’s house is as chaotic as Discord is. There are animals all about from mice to beavers. All nestled up in their own little homes inside of Fluttershy’s tree house cottage. As you enter the home you come into the living room and animal sanctuary. Across from there is the kitchen. And to your right is nothing but a wall. To your left is a staircase that leads upstairs to the bathroom, Fluttershy’s bedroom. The entire house is that of a German cottage mixed with an American country home.

       Fluttershy jumps up onto her stool and looks across from Discord. “Fluttershy I... I have been doing badly again.” Fluttershy looks at Discord concerning. “What have you been doing Discord? You can tell me.” Discord looks up at her tears in his eyes. “These are new what this I am feeling... is It is darker than even myself.” Discord says in a sad scared voice. Fluttershy smiles and puts her hooves onto his claws and talons. Discord looks at her and smiles. “Dearest Fluttershy I am sorry for all that I have put you through.” Fluttershy shakes her head “Oh Discord you're just lost is all. So what have you done Discord that has put you into such distress?” Discord sits up and crosses Fluttershy’s hooves and gently strokes them making Fluttershy blush and look away. “Have you ever heard the story of the mare in the moon?” Fluttershy nods “But of course Nightmare Moon also known as Luna.” Discord shakes his head yes. “That story is true but the last few years of Nightmare Moons sentence was left from the story.” Fluttershy looks at Discord puzzled. “Why are you coming to me then why not Twilight?” Discord looks down at Fluttershy’s hooves in his claws. “She would yell at me if I told her what I had been doing. At least you would understand Fluttershy.” Fluttershy nods and moves her hooves under the table out of Discords grips. “Go on tell me then.”

       “Once upon a long time ago lived a young stallion. In the glorious Pegasus cloud city known simply as Cloud Nine. A cloud ruled by the nine original Pegasus a small shadow of a stallion appears on the table-hopping about on a cloud all happily. “Then one day the cloud fell and the stallion would live the rest of his days in absolute hate towards every pony with a pulse. Legend states he became a living shadow.” The shadow glows red and becomes a sinister looking snake. “Discord what’s this have to do with you?” “Dearest Fluttershy this pony was banished to the moon nine hundred and ninety nine years ago. I have been letting Luna talk to this danger every night since I reformed!” Fluttershy gasps “Discord! You could get somepony hurt! What if he is just using Luna to get to Equestria or worst?” Discord puts his head on the table and covers his head. “All I do is mess up.”

Fluttershy calms down and gets up from her chair and walks over to Discord and lays her head next to his. “You always manage to make them better Discord.” Fluttershy kisses his forehead “We have to tell Celestia about this though Discord. About Luna and her second life about where she is going and who she is talking to. Who knows what’s going on” Discord nods and picks Fluttershy up into his arms and gives her a big hug. “Thank you for understanding. And I fear I may have released a cataclysmic chain of events” Discords eyes flash black and white. Screams echo in his head. “Or the end of us all.”
