Equestria
Sweet Apple Acres
12:00AM
It was a beautiful summer night in Equestria; the crickets were chirping their lovely tune. Overall, one would call It peaceful, to say the least, with everypony getting a good night's rest under Luna’s moon. Solace was felt by all, just as it had been ever since the end of Nightmare Moon some time ago. And how could it not be, what with the dreamscape having finally become an eternally safe haven for all to escape to during the night.
Among these many ponies to enter this such haven was Apple family: Ponyville's well-known apple farmers and suppliers. Much like anypony else, they each slept in a calm bliss, albeit in their own, sometimes noisy forms.
Applejack dreamt of apple related treats and ideas, a tiny yet noticible snooze escaping her as she slept. Her little sister, Apple Bloom, was caught up in her own mental bliss as well, dreaming of one day finally receiving her cutie mark. She was the only truly silent one of her family, while her grandmother and big brother gave out snores loud enough to buckle a house. It was something she had accustomed herself to though, much like anypony else who lived in a five-mile radius of the apple farm.
Yes, everything was just as it should be...
On this particular night though, the word 'should' would have a much more noticeable meaning.
An object of indiscernible size, mass, or even color; an almost entirely black entity of incredible speeds; a crash. This was all there was--all there would be--as a single spit second proved to be all that was necessary to break what should be a simple, calm night in not only the Apple family farm, but through most of Ponyville as well.
The only remains of this event was firmly crashed into the ground, nothing more than a trail of heavily disturbed dirt, shrapnel, and rising smoke to prove its occurrence; a hole in the barn roof also served this purpose as well, though much more clearly. This large, pure black entity shone in sharp contrast among its brighter, more natural surroundings, the moon only serving to show this even more clearly as it seemed to focus upon this unusual happenstance.
Sound had seemingly died out completely as nearly every organism nearby the site grew quiet, tension easily reaching from the smallest of prey to the largest of predators. Few had circled around the site in curiosity, and even fewer had been brave enough to venture even closer, into the structure the object had landed within, going so far as to sniff--perhaps even touch--the foreign object.
These brave few, however, would soon retreat like all the rest as the object suddenly gave out a loud hiss, moving only small parts of itself in an unholy display of the unknown.
What seemed like a small mouth near the top of the entity's head shot open, smoke now seeming like a creature's heavy breath as it escaped in plumes.
It was through these clouds of gray, however, that a single shape of black emerged, just as similarly pitched and dark as its much larger counter-part--save for flicks of red that appeared upon it's torso, shaped in the form of an 'x'.
Grass tamped and crunched as the being fell from its other, seemingly superior self, and appendage moving to it's head as it surveyed it's surroundings.

“Ugh... My head." I mentally groaned, rubbing said source of immense pain with struggling fervor.
As if my head wasn't bad enough, the rest of my body was aching as well.
I don't have a clue what happened or what was going on.
Even as I walked in a somewhat drunken state, my injuries calling out to me in what may as well have been a yell, I did the best I could to ignore these pains if only to get a look at my surroundings.
It was hard enough to see in the apparent dark, let alone with blurred vision; thinking was a struggle as well, with my mind kicking me every time I even made to use it.
Looking around, I could see... Walls... Pretty easily, at that. Without so much as missing a beat, I made my way over to the nearest wall, placing my back upon it before sliding down onto my ass. I rubbed my temples as I gave out a sigh, glancing around my surroundings once more. Wherever I had crashed, I had a feeling that the owners wouldn't be too happy.
“What in tarnation was that?!” Right on cue. Perfect.
The voice of what I could only guess to be was a southerner was all I could make out, alongside a few others, which came through more muffled as my headache once again made itself known.
As to why I was, apparently, over several dozens of miles away from where I was supposed to be, I didn't know. The only thing I knew was to get going while the going was good... More or less. I dont need any trouble with any residents of New York-er, wherever I was. I already have a mediocre reputation with the citizens there--you know, the ones that adore a hero and those who despise one--and I really don't need that here.
Plus, considering I just wrecked a building, I'm pretty sure whatever reputation I would make here so far would be more leaning towards the 'despise' side of my argument.
Though with some issue, my vision cleared just enough for me to make a quick escape from my situation; specifically, through a nearby window. As I ran to a nearby forest, or what looked like a forest, I glanced back to the building I had landed in, catching the smoke that rose from where I had... Ahem, landed.
I could tell, this was going to be one of those situations.

Apple Bloom
Ah was standing at the foot of mah house when mah sister went to look at what coulda' caused that durn mess over at the barn. She had told me to stay where ah was when I had first come out ta check, and, to be honest, ah was kinda annoyed. Ah wanted ta see what had happened too, but no, mah big sis told me it would be too dangerous.
Heck, ah coulda helped. Like when ah saw somethin' dart inta the trees while ah was looking at the barn. Mah sis didn't really listen, since she was 'busy' with what was in the barn, but ah still told her.
“Sweet Celestia, what in tarnation is that?” She said.
Ah wanted to know what she was talkin' about, but when I tried tah go over to where she was, Big Mac stopped me.
"Nope.” He told me, shaking his head. Ah gave a huff at this, but ah didn't say anything.
It wasn't long before AJ finally finished what she was doing, heading over to us, lookin' all worried like.
“Big Mac, ah want you to guard this barn so nopony gets in, ok?!” She told him.
“Eeyup.” Replied Big Mac with his usual one word response.
Before ah could even ask her about what was goin' on, Apple Jack went into the house, only comin' out a few minutes later wearin' her normal clothes, instead of her pj's.
Then, without so much as a bye, she left, leavin' me tah wonder not only where she was headed, but why she was goin' there in the first place.

“I don't know... How much longer I can go on...” That thought seemed to constantly repeat itself in my head as I continued on, moving from tree to tree in an effort to keep myself from being spotted.
My head was starting to feel better, but barely by enough to stop my head from throbbing at every thought.
I couldn't even tell if I had been walking for that long... All I knew was that, one way or another, I'd need to find a place to hide for a bit. I needed to collect myself, to figure out where to go from here. With my only mode of transport likely being cursed at for property damage, I was pretty much out of luck when it came to heading back to New York.
And yes, at this point, I can definitely guarantee that I'm not on New York. The things around me just don't add up for the urban state I grew up in. The apple trees, the clear night skies, the treehouse, the-
Treehouse!
Almost involuntarily, I felt my eyes widen as I spotted the structure that so sturdily seemed to hang from the tree, a sigh escaping me. It was a bit of a haphazard idea, let alone the fact that it was probably a stupid one as well, but I didn't really have any options, save for going on with the pain and dizziness I felt.
No, I don't I'd let myself do that any longer.
My mind set, I made my way over to the treehouse, silently thanking the fact that, rather than a ladder, the treehouse had stairs leading up to it.
Of course, knowing my luck... It was only natural that what happened next had... Happened.
*CREAK*
I was a good few steps up when this sound had suddenly pierced the silence around me, immediately causing my guard to shoot up as I looked around me for the source. As stupid as it may sound, it honestly took me another loud creak like the first for me to realize that I had caused it; as if that wasn't bad enough, the subsequent and loud snap that followed didn't exactly bring pleasant thoughts from me either. had heard that but then there was a snap followed by another snap and before I knew what hit me I fell through the ground through some sort of hole.
Under any other situation, I would've been able to stop myself from falling with relative ease. With my body lagging behind my mental command though, it proved near impossible for me as I heavily impacted my head on my way down, falling into the unconscious state I had
previously escaped being in after the crash.

Twilight Sparkle
Golden Oaks Library
1:00AM
I was enjoying a good nights rest. That's all. It wasn't too much to ask for, yet, despite that, I still ended up jolting awake at a loud knock at my door.
At first, I tried to ignore it and go back to sleep. I thought that, maybe, whoever it was would get that I was trying to sleep and leave. The library was closed, after all, and nopony tries to purposely get up at an hour this late--at least, none that I'm aware of.
Unfortunately, it didn't seem it would be this easy, what with the continuing sounds of knocking and the yell that accompanied it.
“Twilight let me in! Its Applejack!” Ugh. As much as I like helping my friends, this is too much.
With a groan, I sluggishly got out of bed, rubbing an eye in tired stupor as I went downstairs to see what Applejack wanted. By the time I got to the door, the sound of her knocking clearly coming through, I was barely able to peer it open before she just randomly burst in; nearly fell on my flank from that too...
“Twilight, we need the rest of the girls here now!” She asserted, causing me to raise a brow in worry.
“Why, Applejack? What’s going on?”
“Something crashed into mah barn, and ah don’t have a clue what it is!”
If there were any better way for me to wake up than that, I would just love to know what it was. It could definitely help me through my all-nighters whenever I'm studying something.
“What? What crashed into your barn Applejack?” Admittedly, I deserved the deadpan look she gave me after I asked this.
“... Sugar-cube, what did ah just say?” Quickly realizing my mistake, I felt a slight flustered warmth on my cheeks, biting my lips ever so slightly.
“Er, right, sorry." I apologized. "Anyways, could you describe what you saw?”
“Well... Ah'm not too sure. It was black, ah could tell ya that much. Plus, there were two things coming out the side of it, and the back and top of it was puffin' out smoke. Hay, I even touched the a part of it and almost burnt mah hand off doing it.” She explained, while I listened
intently to her every word. It wasn't often that something unusual like this happened--well, not really, it's like a daily occurrence nowadays, but still!
“Interesting... I really would like to take a look at that when we head to your barn... Matter of fact...” I started to wonder as to what this could be. It was definitely not anything I knew about, that much was obvious. Maybe it'd be a new species of animal, or some sort of dormant plant life, or maybe even-
“Uh, Twi, you're spacing out again.” I was dropped out of my thoughts as Applejack said this, looking to her from wherever it was that I was watching in my trance.
“Oops. Heh, sorry.” An involuntary giggle of embarrassment escaped me.
“I’ll go wake up Spike. After that we'll get the other girls and notify the princess.” I informed her, though she gave a slight roll of her eyes.
“Hmph, if he sleeps anythin' like Big Mac, then good luck.” She joked. I chuckled at this, waving her off with a grin.
“Oh, don't worry, I have my ways."
--------------Several minutes later-----------
Oddly enough, getting the girls here was actually fairly easy. Getting them to stop complaining about it though was the problem. Especially Rarity.
“Twilight, you of all ponies should know that I need my beauty sleep in order to keep up with all the orders I get at the boutique.” Rarity said in huff.
“I know Rarity, but this is important.”
“Well it better be!” Crossing her arms and giving me a glare, I could only give out a mental sigh as I looked to the others.
“Ok girls, this is what happened...”
“So why havent you sent something to Celestia yet?” Rainbow Dash asked, crossing her arms much like Rarity had.
“Well I wanted to get us all together just in case. You never know, Celestia might want to see us afterwards.” Rainbow Dash shrugged at this, seeming to understand despite her uncaring posture.
“Spike," I called, "grab a letter.”
Rather than a quick response from the baby dragon though, I was instead given the sound of a light snoring as a reply, along with the sight of my number one assistant asleep against a stack of books. He had probably dozed off while I was talking to the girls.
Sighing, I knew just calling for him to wake up or shaking him wouldn't work. So, without missing a beat, I went into the kitchen a grabbed a small gem I kept hidden just in case of these 'emergencies'.
All I had to do was hold the gem slightly above his nose, and, after a few sniffs, Spike jolted awake, looking around in an obviously hungry stupor.
"Huh? Wha- Where?" He babbled.
"Spike, I need you to send a letter to the princess. This is really serious, so you need to-"
“Okay, okay, I get it, the sooner I get this done the sooner I get back to bed.” Spike interrupted, grumbling with a tinge annoyance.
Grabbing a quill and some parchment paper, Spike readied the ink as he attentively looked to Twilight, awaiting her letter.
“Dear Princess Celestia,
Tonight, something strange has crashed into Applejack's barn. She is unable to tell if the object is dangerous or not, and, before we go to see ourselves, I ask for your advice on what are we to do with the object.
If you feel as though we should stay away, or investigate as I said, please respond as soon as possible on the matter.
Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle"
The sound of Spike's furious scribbling ended shortly after Twilight finished relaying her message, punctuated by a sharp poke to the paper as he added one last period.
“... Is that it?” Spike asked, looking to Twilight for confirmation.
“Yes, thats it. Go ahead and send it.” Nodding at me, Spike inhaled a deep breath and blew out his usual brand of green fire, the parchment becoming engulfed as it then turned into a magical green dust and flew out through the window.
It was barely a few minutes later before a letter of response finally arrived, via Spike burp. I was quick to take it, removing the royal seal and reading the letter aloud.
"My faithful student Twilight,
After reading over your, as well as your friend's, concerns, my sister and I have decided that we will arrive at the farm at dawn. You are indeed given permission to search ahead of us, but I request that you and your friends bring the Elements of Harmony with you as a precaution.
Yours truly, Princess Celestia"
Rolling the letter back up just as quickly as I had unrolled it, I looked to the girls.
"Well, we know what we have to do girls, so lets get to it!” Honestly, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited.
Author's Note
Hey guys I just recently got back into writing and after a while I realized how many mistakes I've made in my other stories. so I've decided to start from ground up and give my top story one more shot before I give it up for good. I have also realized that I have made my character way to much of a garry stu and that's not going to happen any more, my story will be encouraged by comments but not comment driven. In my last story I ignored some comments on which I should have listened to. that's going to be a thing I am going to keep an eye on.
If there is any mistakes I have made in this chapter please by all means tell me in the comments!
