Part 1
A soft groan rang out in the dark bedroom, the form under the blankets shifting about slowly as sunlight poured in through the large glass doors which led out onto the spacious balcony. From under the covers, that large lump squirmed and wriggled it's way up, first the gently rounded tip of a blue horn, then the yet to be brushed white mane em merged from under the sheets. Like a kelpie coming up for air, Trixie took a deep breath as she scooted her head up onto the pillow after being snuggled down near the foot of the bed for most of the night. Her jaw was still a little sore from last night, but as the last traces of sleep slipped from her mind, the memory of it all brought a wide, delighted grin to the blue unicorn's lips.
Slowly opening her eyes, the retired show mare reached a hoof over to her side. She had expected to find something very different from the empty pillow her hoof landed on. Feeling around a bit, she looked over to where another sleeping mare should of been, only seeing the otherwise empty bed, and a well-used but polished bit resting on the night stand. This wasn't something unexpected, the blue mare's mistress often woke early to start her day. Still, Trixie was hoping she could get some time to cuddle before getting up. That would have to wait for another day, though. If her mistress was already awake, then Trixie had to make herself presentable so she could join her.
After taking one more stretch to get the stiffness out of her limbs and a yawn to fill her lungs with fresh air, Trixie slipped out from under the sheets. her mane was, naturally, rather tangled and all out of order. It had, after all, been a very enjoyable night. A little blush creeped to her cheeks, giving them an almost purple hue as she made her way over to the mirror. Her horn glowed softly as a soft pink magical shape surrounded a hair brush as she levitated it up to her messy mane. Trixie was careful with each stroke she took, to gently work out any tangles without pulling out her precious hair. It took work to look as great as she did, and she wanted to make sure she looked her best for her mistress. Her tail wasn't as bad, just a few strokes down it's length to put it back in order as well.
"Trixie is always the best she can be.." she said as she gazed at herself in the mirror, setting the brush back down on the dresser. She didn't allow herself much to gloat about these days, but this was one of the things she felt she could take pride in. It was, after all, as much for her mistress as it was for herself. With a self-satisfied look to her muzzle, she finally turned from the mirror towards the bedroom door, giving a glance up at the clock ticking away up on the wall.
And then Trixie felt panic rise up in her chest. It was nearly noon already! Her eyes widened as she realizes then just how late she had let herself sleep in. She was in trouble! She knew she was in trouble! In a panic she burst through the bedroom door, knocking it aside as she raced down the steps and into the library proper.
"Trixie's late! Trixie's late! Oh please please Mistress! Forgive us!" the frantic unicorn cried out as she raced up to the one pony that mattered to her. Twilight looked back over her shoulder at the commotion, two books she was about to re-shelf held in the purple grip of her levitation magic. A little yelp escaped her lips as Trixie nearly tacked her back legs, the groveling mare pressing her lips to Twilight's hooves as worried tears started to well up in her eyes.
"T-Trixie? What's the matter?" Twilight asked as she managed to pull her hind legs free and turn around, her face giving the nearly weeping unicorn a look of confusion.
"We slept in while Mistress did all the work herself! P-please forgive Trixie.." It took Twilight a moment to let this sink in, and to suppress a slight giggle at the sight. She reached a hoof down to stroke it over the distraught pony's head, an amused smile across her face.
"Oh, get up and don't worry about that. It's alright. You were sleeping so soundly I didn't want to wake you." Twilight smiled as Trixie looked up at her, sniffling softly as she rubbed the tears from her eyes. She didn't bother to get up though, still groveling before the pony she had given her entire life to. "Besides, it was only a few books. Nothing I needed help with."
"M-Mistress isn't mad at Trixie?" the groveling unicorn asked, a bit of surprise, and a hint of regret to her voice as she managed to dry her eyes.
"Nope, not today," Twilight said, pausing a moment. She smirked a little, remembering exactly how Trixie would react if she was mad with the former show mare. "Well, at least not right now."
Trixie had managed to at last push herself up from the floor, a little pout to her lips as she trotted up next to her mistress. Twilight felt a gentle brush against her side, looking back with a giggle to see Trixie gently nuzzling at the librarian's flank.
"Trixie is so lucky to be yours, Mistress." the unicorn cooed, her voice nearly dripping with adoration. Twilight couldn't help but blush as she put the last couple books back into their proper places up on the shelves. Spike had left the other night for Canterlot, Celestia asking for his help in resorting the palace library. Twilight had felt a little hurt that she wasn't asked to help as well, but after the last time, when she spent more time looking through the books than actually sorting them, she guessed it probably was for the best. Besides, it gave her time to spend with a certain special somepony. Twilight quietly decided that it was good she got to work out her frustrations in such a fulfilling way. And Trixie certainly didn't seem to mind it one bit.
Twilight's musings and Trixie's nuzzlings were interrupted by a couple firm raps upon the front door. The purple mare's ears perked up, looking back at the door just as Trixie shoved her face right into her's, the blue mare's eyes bright and nearly sparkling.
"Don't worry Mistress! Trixie will see who it is! No need to bother yourself!" Trixie gave her the biggest, most overly eager smile she could manage before galloping to the door before Twilight could protest. It was nice having Trixie around, and she sure was helpful most of the time. But sometimes, Twilight would wish she would just let her do things on her own. The show mare was so eager to please it got embarrassing at times.
Trixie sat down at the front door to the library, taking a moment to compose herself into as regal of a pose as she could before reaching out with her magic to take a hold of the door knob. Clearing her throat as she gently opened the door, she sat there with eyes closed and head held proudly in the air.
"Whom may I tell the Mistress is waiting for them?" She announced in a sweet and as official of a voice as she could. After a moment with no answer, she peeked open one eye to see who it was, and her regal pose crumbled as she saw two rather familiar mares standing before her with rather confused looks.
Lyra and Bon Bon stood on the doorstep to the library, just eying Trixie as her shoulders slumped and a shocked expression came over her face. Thankfully, before things could get much more awkward, Twilight trotted up behind the dumbfounded show pony, a bright smile across her face.
"Hey girls! I was wondering when you'd show up. You remember Trixie, right?" Twilight asked, getting a rather embarrassed blush from Lyra while Bon Bon just looked a bit annoyed. Trixie, however, was still trying to gather up her composure, what little of it she could find.
"Um, yeah, we do." Lyra said, scuffing a hoof against the ground for a moment before she looked up, her mood lightening quite a bit. "So, you still coming with us to the market today?"
"Sure are. I was just tidying up the library a bit before you guys got here. We can get going as soon as you two are ready."
This managed to shake Trixie out of her slight daze, the show pony looking up to her mistress "M-mistress? Can.. Can Trixie have a few minutes before we leave? She.. She needs to get ready."
Twilight could only roll her eyes at that, remembering the last time she went out with Trixie, and what the blue unicorn had done to 'get ready'.
"Fine. Just don't take too long, alright?" She said, watching her lover smile brightly before running back up stares to the bedroom. Twilight silently hoped this wouldn't turn into a huge deal again. Last time she had come out of the bedroom with a muzzle and blinders strapped to her head. The time before that, it was some sort of harness and leash that pulled her tail almost up to her neck, exposing everything for the world to see. And before that, it had been straps around her legs that had forced the pony to crawl on her knees. Twilight almost dreaded seeing what sort of self-embarrassment Trixie would come up with this time.
Twilight was brought back to the hear and now as Bon Bon spoke, sounding a bit worried.
"Um, is.. Is she ok?" the cream earth pony asked.
"Oh, she's just fine. She gets like this every time we go out together. I swear, sometimes I'm not sure if she does it to embarrass herself or me." The librarian joked. She didn't say aloud that she also wondered of the blue pony also did it just to anger the librarian. Knowing Trixie, that was just as likely. Of course, Twilight didn't really mind that too much, not that she'd ever admit it to anyone. Sometimes, it actually felt good to get angry at the submissive unicorn. Those nights they both seemed to enjoy themselves more than usual. She just had to watch herself, make sure she didn't get too angry.
Back up stares in the bedroom, Trixie looked into the mirror as she struggled to hold down a surge of panic at who she was going to be spending the day with. Her mistress had said the two of them were going to be going out with a couple friends today, but she didn't say it was going to be THOSE two friends! Trixie had barely seen either of them since, well, the incident. The unicorn, she had been nice, well as nice as one could hope for after what happened between them. But the other one? Trixie was sure she still hated her. After what had happened, Trixie really couldn't blame the earth pony. Sure, they had broken the curse, and that was kind of Trixie's fault. But she didn't pick who it had to be, or how it had to be broken. But still, it had happened, and the show mare was sure there was still issues that hadn't been worked out between herself and the earth pony.
This was one of the things her mistress had wanted to help Trixie with. Thinking about her mistress was one thing, but she needed to think about others as well. They had feelings, they could be hurt even if you didn't mean to hurt them. This was her chance to show that she could become a better mare. A mare her mistress would be proud of. With a deep breath, she looked back up to herself in the mirror, seeing the panic slowly drain from her face as her confidence came back. She would do it, apologize and make friends. That would make her mistress proud. But first, she couldn't go out today without anything on.
Looking around the bedroom for a while, her eyes considered every little thing that wouldn't be missed. There honestly wasn't much to the bedroom she shared with her beloved owner. At least not in the way of fashion of accessories. But still, with a little bit of magic, she could make due. Even if her mistress often hated the accessories she came up with, she would still try. It was important that everypony knew she belonged to her wonderful, kind mistress. An old, tattered scarf, half shoved into a basket of old clothes, caught her eye. Floating it over to herself with her magic, she looked it over. Simple, old, and not much good for anything anymore. But still, it would do all the same.
Back down at the front door, Twilight was starting to get tired of waiting for the honestly insane show mare. Chatting with her two friends had taken up a little time, but they were now all wanting to get the day started. She was about to head back up to the bedroom to fetch her lover when she heard the door finally open. Almost afraid to look, Twilight turned to see what sort of contraption Trixie had gotten herself into this time.
Thankfully, it wasn't much. A simple black leather collar wrapped tightly around the unicorn's neck, locked in place with a heart-shaped clasp in back. A large, silver ring was mounted in front, and from it dangled a small, but easily seen charm. The little decoration was clearly in the shape of Twilight's own cutie mark. It might as well have been a dog collar and tag. Trixie trotted up beside her mistress, head held high to show off her newest accessory for all to see.
"Does.. Does this please you, Mistress?" Trixie asked, a hopeful shimmer in her eye. Twilight could just roll her eyes at the display, but eventually she let out a sigh, thankful the blue mare at least didn't expect her to lead the show mare around on a leash.
"It'll be fine, I guess," was the librarian's reply. She was starting to feel a bit embarrassed about going out now. "Please, could you try not to call me 'Mistress'? At least not when we're out in public?" The collar was, thankfully, something that wouldn't seem too out of the ordinary to most other ponies. Still, it was rather sweet in a weird sort of way.
"O-Of course Mis- er, I mean, Twilight." Trixie blushed a bit, using her mistress's name just felt wrong to the show mare. Like she was doing something bad. But still, her mistress had spoken, and she would do her best to follow her wishes. They both turned to their two friends, giving them two rather sheepish smiles. Lyra just smiled back, while Bon Bon still seemed annoyed, but she still smiled softly.
"Come on! Let's get this started already!" Lyra called out with a heartful laugh, always the adventurous one. Together, the four friends heading off towards the large open-air marked near the center of Ponyville...
