The Man with the Hidden Past
Queens only rise with the help of others.
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Hey! You're the one that sent those! And plus, the first thing I did in this world was help Fluttershy!" The large, strange creature-thing yelled, as it started to get in the other thing's face.
"There is still no excuse for threatening me, the elements, or the fair population of this kingdom!" The white animal yelled back.
"These creatures confuse me greatly. They are family by body, but hate, and disrespect each other from smell. Though the larger one would make a great host. I shall follow this one in hopes of starting a hive." the I thought. Suddenly, I sensed a creature moving in the shadows behind me. I quickly jumped around to see a dark grey creature with black hair and a strange tail of the same color. It had green eyes. These, strange green eyes. They felt... Comforting. I had to resist the urge to jump right then. I could tell this was a powerful creature. But I could tell the other one would be better. I need THAT one. Not this... Curious creature standing before me. Maybe... It can help me. And if it dare attack, I can always jump and insert my tail into the creature's... large head. It had a protrusion coming from it. I'd have to be careful if the creature chose to use it against me.
I continued to stare at it. And it stared back. It looked like it was having some sort of internal battle with itself. Trying to figure out if it should try to attack, or help. It's a curious creature at that. It appeared to be sizing me up, trying to figure out what I was, and if I had any weaknesses. It's eyes softened and it came out of the shadows. It had two objects strapped to it's back. One appeared to be a thin, and sharp blue blade. The other was a longer, thicker blade but equally as sharp as the first. It came up to me and I arched my tail up so I could react should it try to attack. I couldn't stop staring into it's eyes. They almost had two different personalities. One, a serious, and caring one. The other, was indescribable. I had no way to explain it. It was like it had a spirit trapped inside. It was always changing. The creature took a step back when I rose my tail.
"Don't worry, I woun't hurt ya little guy. You're actually kinda strange. Maybe I can find somepony that can help.
"
It had just said something but I couldn't understand. It sounded comforting so I decided it wasn't going to hurt me. I kept my guard up anyway. It tried to get closer again. I let it. It reached a leg out to me and I carefully reached one of my clawed legs out to it. The claw touched the end of the leg with a slight 'tap'. I reached out another and moved the rest up so I could climb the leg easier. My other leg touched above the first bit didn't make a sound. It cut through dark grey fur and I stopped it before it could puncture the skin. I did not want this thing to turn against me right now. I climbed up the rest and relized that my body was longer than the leg itself if you counted my tail. I considered this as I climbed up onto it's back as it kept an eye on me constantly. I felt another presence.
"WATCH OUT RISING! YOU GOT A SPIDER ON YOU!"
I didn't understand this. What was this new presence saying? Why did it sound worried? I saw a new figure come out of the darkness. One like my kinds'. It had a black exoskeleton and a sharp appendage on it's head. It also had leathery looking wings and hair. I felt something coming from this creature. It was not like the one I was on, but similar. It must be a queen of another hive. It was trying to take my new host. I raised my tail and prepared to defend my host from the other creature. The creature lifted a leg to try and crush me. I struck out with my tail, sending it straight though. But something was off. I felt no shower of acidic blood. I heard no screeches of pain. I looked at where my tail had struck and saw that it had stopped the leg in the air somehow. I saw that my tail had found a hole in the leg and had gotten caught on it. Except the blade of my tail had gone far enough through that it was inches from the creature's face. I quickly tried to get my tail out of the leg only to find that I couldn't move at all. I gave a hiss in frustration as I tried to squirm from the invisible grasp.
"C'mon Hollow, you should know that if it was dangerous that I would have handled it."
What where these things saying? It sounded like they spoke the same language. But their different species. How is that possible?
"What are you protecting that.. thing?!
The voice from before was this creature. It sounded higher than the one's that I was on. I fought to get out of the grasp again. It didn't budge.
"Oh, please. It only attacked because you scared it. Right little guy?"
The one I was on had said something and looked at me. It kept the caring look in it's eye. I know I would be safe with this creature. But I still couldn't move.
"Hollow... I see you using your magic."
The Protector, as I decided to call it, had said something to the other one, who I named the Betrayer. I could move again. I quickly scurried up to the Protector's face and hide in it's hair. I wrapped my tail around it's neck and grabbed the soft tissue of it's back with my legs.
"Whoa little guy. Easy there."
The Protector had said something again. It sounded as if it was trying to calm me. I did as told and released my grip slightly on his neck, but kept my legs firm.
"C'mon Hollow. I heard somepony yelling over that way. Maybe they have an idea on what this is." The protector said as it pointed a leg in the direction of my targeted host and the other creature.
I gave a little growl in satisfaction and the Protector seemed to notice.
"See? Even this little guy agrees with me. I like him. I think I'll name him... Snuggles. On account that he likes to snuggle up against me." The Protector said it started walking.
"Are you sure it's even a he?"
