Chapter One - The Crash
Load Full StoryNext ChapterRainbow Dash woke up to the sound of vibration, coming from her phone. She moaned and threw her cyan pillow over the top of her head, tossing and turning till she could get back to sleep. The rainbow haired girl groaned and screamed underneath of her pillow, giving up on ignoring it. Slowly shuffling up off of her bed, she stretched her arms up high, small cracks coming from them, a sign that her muscles were ready for whatever the day had in store for her.
After she was satisfied with stretching, she settled back down in her bed and grabbed her phone from the wooden bedside table. Being careful not to drop it, as it was one of the best and newest phones, she had finally managed to get the phone to her bed, and held it close to her body. Ever since she had bought the phone, she had been a little bit over protective over it, as she had spent over half of her own life savings to buy it. Switching it in by the power button, she waited for it to fully turn on, as she had shut it down the previous night. After around a minute of waiting, her phone finally turned on. The light coming from the screen shone brightly in her eyes, causing her to let out a moan, and placing her arm over both of her eyes for a minute.
After she had got over the light, she placed her arm back down beside her body and lifted her right arm up to the top of her screen, turning down the brightness to halfway. After Rainbow felt comfortable with the light that the phone was giving, she unlocked it by swiping the screen, creating a pattern across the glass. Once again, the phone vibrated. Her hand felt fuzzy as her pale skin moved the slightest bit and then stopped.
Now it was getting on her last nerve. She scrolled down her homepage to find that she had received four new messages on Facebook Messenger. Rainbow assumed who it was, and proceeded to press on it with her right thumb. It took a few moments for it to load up, but when it did, she was greeted by six messeges that were sent by Twilight, one from Pinkie, one from her brother, Rainbow Blitz, one from Applejack, another one from her parents, and finally, one from her boyfriend, Soarin.
Before she looked at the message from her boyfriend, she decided that she would see what her parents had said. Rainbow Dash lightly tapped on the screen of the phone where her parents message was. It was the same as they out everyday, but seen as it was the start of winter today and all of the area that was about halfway through her drive to Canterlot High was icy, including the roads, they decided to add some more.
Hello Rainbow, have a good day at school, and be careful, today is the start of winter and it seems like the route you take to school is quite slippery at the moment so be careful sweetheart, and we shall chat after school if you aren't talking with your boyfriend.
Rainbow Dash glanced over at her alarm clock to see that it was only seven AM, and her parents usually expect her to read their message around eight thirty AM. She groaned in frustration, as she just remembered she had a math test today, and she was the worst at maths. She then decided that maybe reading her friends messages might lighten the mood a bit more. Pressing on the back button to return to the view of all of her messages, she tapped on her message from her brother, Rainbow Blitz.
Hey big sis, can you do a favour for me? There's been these guys at school that have been making fun of me the past few days, and I want you to do something about it, cuz I'm too afraid to tell Miss Daisy Dreams. Pleze don't think I'm a loser now :(
Rainbow Dash smiled at what her younger, 13 year old brother had told her. She decided that she would help out and reply back to him. After a few thoughts of what she could write to him in response, she decided on what she would reply to him with.
Blitzy, why didn't you ask mum and dad about this? Or was it cos you were too afraid to ask them? Its not as if I'm your mum or anything. (Trust me, I hate kids! Except you of course.) Well, when do you want me to come down? I'll get Soar to take my place as captain on the football team for the time being
After she was one hundred percent satisfied with what she had written, after a couple of changes, she sent it. Just then, the multicoloured haired girl let out a loud yawn, her mouth open wide, letting out the sign that she was fully rested. That was a surprise to her, as she usually got up at twenty five past eight, even later at the weekends, all because of school starting at half past nine.
Rainbow Dash proceeded to read the rest of the messages from her friends, until she got to Soarins' message. She knew that it would be super special, just for her. Opening message, she read the first few lines and she already felt warm inside. Though she would never admit this to other people, she knew she could rely on Soarin to make her day better, even if she was already having an amazingly awesome day. Her face was relived when she read it.
Dashie, you are the love of my life, and don't let anybody tell you different, EVER. I love you ever so much, and I will till the day I die. Be careful on the roads today as well, I've heard there really slippy today, and I don't want you to get hurt.
Rainbow smiled at his kind, encouraging words, replying with a simple smiley face and a thank you.
Realizing it was time to get ready for school, she jumped out I'd her bed, her hair landing on her back. Running over to the shower, she got unchanged and walked into the wet room, where the shower was placed. As she turned it on, a fresh wave of warm water spread over her body, relaxing her. Grabbing her bottle of strawberry shampoo from the rack of where all her things she needed for the shower were placed, she flipped the lid open and squirted a blob of the thick, pink liquid into the palm of her hand, then rubbed it into her hair and scalp, thoroughly massaging into it. After she had completed rubbing it into her scalp, she brought the end of her hair together and slided it across the rest if it, as if she was putting it up in a ponytail. When Rainbow had finished washing her hair, she washed the rest of her body.
Finally, after fifteen minutes, her shower was finished. Swinging the door open with a rainbow coloured towel wrapped around her body, since she was going to dry her hair, she ran over to her bedrooms dressing table, grabbing the hairdryer firmly in her right hand and turning it on. It took a few minutes to dry it, then turning on the cold blast of air at the end. She turned it off, and placed it back on the wooden surface of the table.
The girl turned her head to fax her wardrobe, then slowly jogged over to it and opened the door. When she had decided on some clothes, she unwrapped the towel from around her body and let it drop to the floor. At first she picked up her top, placing it over her head and putting her arms through where they should go. Her top was rainbow striped with a ruby red brim, matching her hair. It was a shoulder top, meaning that on the shoulders it was further down. Next she put on her navy blue jeans, which had a golden thread and golden buttons. Slipping them on took a few attempts, as they were a bit of a tight fit, but that's how they were supposed to be. She quickly put on some red socks and ran down the stairs to quickly devour some breakfast. Rainbow had a couple of pancakes, and then ran back upstairs into her bedroom. Grabbing her six black earnings, three for each ear, and putting then on, the speedy girl ran back downstairs to where her hoodie and shoes were. It was a mad rush for her, but it was like this everyday. Remembering she forgot her phone, she went and quickly grabbed it and then put her cyan trainers on and tying the white shoelaces. Grabbing her green hoodie, that Rarity called a fashion disaster, she slipped it on over her head and grabbed her house and car keys from the kitchen side, she placed the house keys in the door lock and twisted them round till it was unlocked.
Opening the door, Rainbow inhaled the fresh winter air, then closed and locked the door to her house and sprinted over to her car. It was a blue Ford fiesta, which was pretty new, and she had spent all of her money that she had earned from her job on it, and it was still pretty new. Unlocking and swinging open the door of the car, she jumped in and shut the door with a loud bang. Turning on the engine, Rainbow Dash stepped on the area that the part where the car could move forward was. Slightly reversing backwards and spinning the wheel so it went to the right hand side so the car was facing sideways out towards the icy road, she drove out onto the road.
Whilst she was driving, she listened to her favourite band, Imagine Dragons. She absolutely adored them and their music, especially their two songs, Raidioactive and Monster. Although she had only been spotted singing along with their songs once by Twilight Sparkle whilst they were heading to one of Twilights afterschool clubs because her big brother, Shining Armour, couldn't bring her to school because he was on a date with Cadence, and was complimented on her singing and said that she should sign up to sing for the school talent show, but she denied it.
She got that carried away with singing, that she didn't even realize that she was on the roundabout, one of the the most slippy areas on her way to school. Completely oblivious to where she was, an ear piercing screech came from beside her. A fire red car came to an abrupt halt, all because of Rainbow not paying attention. But, by then, it was too late. The other car came crashing into the car of which the rainbow haired girl was in, pushing it into a building site. The impact was that bad, that the car flipped over three times, then stopping, leaving Rainbow in critical condition.
The person who crashed into the car flung open the door, a look of extreme panic and worry spread across their face, only to reveal a tanned teenage girl, the same age as Rainbow Dash. They were quite close friends as well. It was Sunset Shimmer. Sunset ran over to where the now unconscious girl layed, spread across the floor, lifeless. Running over to her friends side, she placed her ear to her chest where her heart was located, luckily it was still beating the slightest bit. Having a plan in mind, Sunset Shimmer ran back over to her car and grabbed her phone and called the ambulance. She decided that she would have to text Soarin too, as he would be wondering where she was, as she was almost five minutes late from when they meet up outside if the school.
After five minutes of waiting patiently for them to respond, the ambulance service finally picked up.
"Hello, this is Canterlot ambulance emergency services here. How may I help you?" the woman on the phone, who sounded like Nurse Redheart, asked.
Sunset Shimmer took a deep breath in, and then explained everything to her. It seemed as if she was intrigued the entire time she told the story, asking her for every last detail. After she had explained every last bit she could, she was on the verge tears, blaming herself for what she had accident my caused, but she didn't take it as an accident, she couldn't take it at all.
After the nurse on the phone had ordered quite a lot of people to prepare and ambulance, Sunset was uncontrollably crying her eyes out, so just in case, she also sent some people to help her out, as she assumed the worst was coming soon.
After around ten minutes of waiting, the ambulance finally arrived. Moments after the ambulance arrived, Soarin arrived as well. He jumped out of his car, locking the door behind him. The first thing he saw was Sunset Shimmer, so he ran over to her side, hoping to comfort her.
"Sunset, what's wrong?" asked Soarin, still not realising the ambulance or his girlfriend, laying unconscious on the ground just a couple of inches away from him. The tanned girl kitten her arm ever so slightly, pointing in the direction of where Rainbow was. Soarin looked in the direction that she was pointing, and gasped at what he saw.
Sharp shards of glass surrounded her beautiful face, big dots of blood spread across them. He noticed her head was bleeding like mad, and the bone of her ankle was poking out. He hissed in sadness and pain of what had happened, but that wasn't it yet. Her leg was swollen, her messy long hair covered in blood. She looked as if she was suffocating, as she had fell out of the car and now part of it was on top of her neck, creating a huge gash with blood pouring from it. He felt his eyes start to become teary, as he pulled Sunset Shimmer into a hug, both of them sobbing onto each others shoulders.
Minutes later, Rainbow was released from the grasp of the car, and lifted up onto a stretcher, only to be put into an ambulance. She was hooked up to an oxygen machine, and they treated her as much as they could inside of there so they could save as much of her blood as possible. As she was placed inside of the ambulance, Soarin and Sunset Shimmer followed them, and luckily they allowed them to get on. Soarin didn't know what to do, and so did Sunset Shimmer. All they come hope for was Rainbow to be okay.
The journey there took around the same amount of time it took for them to arrive, just over fifteen minutes. As soon as they arrived, she was took off of the ambulance and went straight into the hospital. Right now she was still unconscious, and she probably still would be for the next day or so. She was immediately rushed into theatre before anything else could happen to her, and all Soarin and Sunset could do was sit in the waiting room. Only time could tell what Rainbows fate would be...
