Not A Nerd

For the surgery, the entire theatre schedule for Monday had to be set back, as this operation could take quite a few hours. When she had arrived, Rainbow Dash was rushed straight into a free surgery room, as they needed to start operating before her internal bleeding could get any worse.

In the waiting room, two teenagers sat down, hoping for the surgery to go well and for everything to be okay. Soarin was sat on one of the benches, rocking back and forth, hugging his knees, as tears surrounded his eyes. As for Sunset Shimmer, she was curled up in a ball at the edge of the bench, muttering to herself, silently crying her eyes out. The doctors were worring for Sunset, as they thought if she kept this up she would go insane.

After many hours of shedding quite a few tears, faith, encouraging words and a lot of hope, Rainbow finally came out of surgery. The two of them were informed about it, and asked to see her that very second. But, for Rainbows own good, the doctor said they could not visit till she was awake and fully recovered from the surgery, and told them both to go home for the night and return the following morning. They begged for what seemed like hours for them, though it was a matter of minutes, and then they were kicked out due to visiting hours being over.

The stood outside of the hospitals doors, standing in an awkward scilence. After minutes of silence between the two of them, Soarin decided to speak up.

"You wanna sleep at my house tonight? I have a guest room you could sleep in," asked Soarin, as he knew Sunset wouldn't be able to sleep that night if she was at her own house, and end up driving herself insane. Even if she was sleeping in a persons house who was going through the sane trauma, she might still not get a wink sleep, but at least she would have Soarin to look after her.

Sunsets face slightly lit up at the offer of which he had offered her, and gladly accepted it, but as long as it wasn't too much trouble. The navy haired boy stated that it was not a not a problem, and that he would gladly take her in for as long as she needed.

They proceeded to walk back to where the accident all took place, as they had left their cars there. It was around a twenty-five minute walk, but it was worth it. Soarin knew that Sunset wouldn't be able to drive, as she would be to afraid just in case she accisently hurt somebody again, so he decided that he would call somebody up to drive Sunsets car to his house whilst she came in his car.

Grabbing the phone from his pocket, he dialed a number into his phone and then it rung for a couple of moments. Sunset Shimmer looked up from her black and pink boots, curious to what the boy was doing. He hels the new looking blue phone to his ear, waiting for the person he called to pick up. After around a minute, somebody with a male voice picked up.

"Soar, mate, I know I said you can call me whenever you want, but I didn't mean midnight! This better be good, or else I'm going back to bed," stated his friend with a weary voice. It was one of his very best friends that he had had since primary school, Thunderlane.

"Sorry Thunderlane, didn't realise it was that late at night. Just wanted to know if you could do me a favour. You see, Dash got into a car crash today and-" that's all Soarin could say before he was cut off by the shocked boy on the other end of the phone.

He gasped, "Why didn't you say so bud? What do you need?" He asked, too shocked to let him finish his sentence. Soarin groaned. He was about to explain what happened when he was cut off by him.

"I need you to drive Sunset Shimmers car back to my house, because I'm afraid that she will be too scared to drive, she's already gone through enough today and I don't want to pressure her," explained Soarin, as Thunderlane listened close to his explanation, wanting to know everything he could before he set off. He told him where they were, and with that said, the call ended and he immediately set off.

Almost half an hour later, Thunderlane arrived at where they were. He climbed out of his car annd grabbed the keys, shut the door, then proceeded to lock it. Even though it may have been half an hour after midnight, you never know what lurked in the shadows.

"Right, so what do you want me to do again?" asked Thunderlane as he approached Soarin. He pointed in the direction of where Sunsets car was.

"I need you to drive Sunset Shimmers car to my house, I don't think she really wants to drive right now," he said as they turned their heads to Sunset to see that the shaking as if she was freezing cold.

"Alright, on it dude," with that said, Sunset hesitantly handed over her car keys to Thunderlane so he could unlock the car to drive it to Soarin's house. Jogging over to the car door, he unlocked it and climbed inside of it.

Right on time, Sunset and Soarin got into his car a few moments after Thunderlane got into Sunsets. Starting up the car, Soarin set off to his house. Thunderlane followed behind them, and about fifteen minutes later they arrived at his house.

Opening the door, Soarin felt a wave of the fresh late night air hit his body. He let out a relaxed sigh, calmed by the touch of the cool air. He was used to having warm days, running around with Rainbow Dash. The thought of his girlfriends condition right now saddened him, wondering what the heck she was doing to get into the crash. Shaking his head to get the memories out of him, earning a few concerned looks from the other two of them, he proceeded to climb out of the car and walk over to the other passengers door.

Opening the door for her, Sunset climbed out and inhaled the night breeze. She loved the feel of it, it just felt so right to her. The refreshing air was enjoyed by the both of them, closing their eyes and gazing up at the moonlit sky, only to be interrupted by the sound of Thunderlanes voice.

"Excuse me? Hello?" Both of their eyes immediately shot open, seeing Thunderlane stood directly in front of them.

Soarin let out a nervous chuckle, and so did Sunset Shimmer. Thunderlane beckoned for them to approach the house, and try to let the awkward vibe between the two of them disappear into the nights air.

The three of them walked up the path to which lead them to the front door. The place may not have been large, in fact it was quite small, but it felt like the perfect home for Soarin. Unlocking the door, he allowed Sunset to go inside and make herself at home, and would show her around after he had said goodbye to Thunderlane.

Just before he left, he whispered in Soarin's ear, "Dude, you do remember your taken right? Rainbow needs you right now, its not as if Sunsets half dead like she is."

Soarin's expression turned from neutral to confusion, "Why would you even say that? I'm just taking her in for a night or two." His confusion became worse when Thunderlane continued speaking.

He facepalmed, and let out a sigh of annoyance, "You don't get it, do you? One night could lead to you, oh, how can I phrase this? Falling in love with her, that's the easiest and nicest way to put it," Soarin was shocked. Why would his best buddy say such a thing?

Eventually, five minutes of silence passed, and Soarin was so annoyed at his friend that he walked up the path, gave a quick goodbye, then slammed the door shut. He let out a sigh of relief, and walked into the living room to check that Thunderlane was gone. Peeking through the blinds, he saw that his buddy walked down the street with his head facing the ground. What had he done? He'd hurt his best friends feelings.

Well, might as well sleep on it to forget that any of this any happened, he thought as he let out a loud yawn. Dude, I'm more tired than I thought. He headed towards the stairs and lifted one leg and stepped on the first step. Soarin continued till he reached the top of the stairs, and went to find Sunset Shimmer.

"Sunset, where are you?" Soarin whispered, just in case he woke up his neighbours, as they lived in a house which was attached to many others, he lived in a block of houses in a small, friendly neighbourhood which Canterlot High was close too. The red and yellow headed girl poked her head from around the staircase, looking at him in the eyes.

Man he's hot. What am I thinking? He has a girlfriend already and his girlfriend is one of my best friends!

She sighed and stepped a bit closer to Soarin so she could hear what he was saying.

"Follow me, I'll take you to your guest room," said Soarin as he beckoned for Sunset to follow behind him so he could show her where she was staying, she looked tired, and Sunset herself felt like a zombie.

When she had been shown to her guest room, Sunset got changed into some pajamas she had in her school bad. At first, Soarin was a little surprised, but it was actually for swimming class later that day, as they had water safety, and Soarin had only just started the schools swimming lessons, deciding that, seen as it was another form of exercise, he would take it up.

Soarin waited outside of Sunset Shimmers door until she was fully dressed. Whilst he waited, he took time to reflect on his memories with Rainbow Dash, before the accident occurred. Times of fun, hanging out, and schools trips ran through his head, making a smile appear on his face.

Sunset Shimmer, now dressed, watched as Soarin stared at the far wall that was a couple of feet away from him, mesmerised in something she didn't like the idea of. Waving her hand in front of the boys face, Soarin immediately snapped out of his daydream and turned to face Sunset Shimmer. He quickly covered his mouth as he yawned, not forgetting to use his manners around people.

"I didn't realise how tired I was," Soarin chuckled for a second, Sunset joining in shortly after, "Well, I'm gonna hit the baseball bat." He continued, getting a confused look from the girl in his presence. An awkward silence reigned over them for a couple of minutes until he continued, "Y'know, head off to bed. Sleep. I'm tired. You see, this is what happens when I get too tired and don't have coffee at lunch. I get really crazy, yet I'm still grumpy at the same time," he explained, doing actions whilst saying the first half of his sentence. Sunset let out an "Oh" of understanding, as Soarin turned around to walk to his room and get in his bed, ready for sleep. He had been in his pajamas all day, when Sunset texted him he was halfway through his morning coffee, still wearing his pajamas, as he was going to get dressed until he heard the news about the unexpected accident.

Sunset saw where he was heading, and quickly though up a plan, one that with a bit of extra planning behind it before it was set into action, could become a whole new level of epic plans. She let out a whimper. Sunset noticed that Soarin didn't hear her desperate cries, so she tries again. Over and over again she tried and tried so hard to get the boys attention, that eventually, she almost started to cry herself because the plan wasn't working.

Eventually, whilst Soarin was in his his room getting comfortable in his bed, Sunset sighed in defeat and turned around to face the guest rooms door. Creaking it open, she walked in and approached the bed. Getting snuggled up tightly within its covers, and before she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep, she whispered to nobody, "I'll get you one day, and you'll be mine, all mine forever..."
