Jayd in Equestria

A series of questions

Previous Chapter

Jayd sat up with a start as he was apt to do. He squinted his eyes as they slowly adjusted to the semi darkness. 'How long have I been asleep?' Jayd had no idea.

Jayd's vision slowly came to him and he noticed he was laid on a hospital bed. "Oh thank Goodnethh!" Jayd muttered his voice barely above a whisper. "Thomeone finally figured out I had gone to a bad plathe." His toungue clearly had a bit more healing to do before he could speak properly.

Looking around Jayd spotted a small plastic cup on a table by the bed that looked to be filled with a clear liquid.

"Thweet liquid Thuthtenanthe!" Jayd's hoof hit the cup and knocked it over. Jayd reached for his right hoof with his left failing to feel anything beyond the stumps of his appendages.

"WHY!?" Jayd yelled in a loud squeek. He ran his hooves over his face, fealing that it was in fact not his face but the face of a pony. A pony he knew to be precariously pink with cherry red hair.

A thin veil not unlike a shower curtain suddenly flew open as lights flipped on blindingly. A white mare with light pink hair turned the corner and began to talk almost immediately.

"SHHH! You'll disturb the other patients!" She glanced a clip board at the foot of the bed. grabbing it with one hoof and opening the shades to a nearby window with another. Jayd continued to be blinded by not only the glare of hospital lights but also the ever burning flame of the sun.

"So I just need you to answer some questions then the doctor will come in and decide if we can release you." The mare was strait to business. Jayd merely swallowed slightly as he began to wonder if maybe he should just pretend everything was normal.

The mare absentmindedly walked to the other side of the bed, "Do you have a history of seizu-EEEEAAAAAH!!!" Where she promtly slipped in the fresh puddle of water.

She sighed as she sat on the floor. She glared at Jayd for a moment who gave a 'I'm sorry' look and a shrug in response. She picked up the cup with her hoof placing it back on the table and Jayd's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

"HOW DID YOU DO THATH!?" Jayd yelled clearly flabbergasted.

"SHHH!" The mare held a hoof to her mouth. Clearly this pony is still disoriented. She muttered angry nothings to herself lurching rather painfully to her hooves. Sighing again as the situation deemed necessary.

Jayd was dumbfounded. He had just seen a hoof, with no fingers thumbs or other apendages pick up a cup off the floor and place it on a table. He stared at his own hooves in amazement, "Hooveth... How do you work?"

The dear sweet nurse immediately picked up her clipboard again, grabbed a pencil in her mouth, and wrote, 'AMNESIA' in large black print across the first fifteen questions. A clock on the wall ticked quietly to her pencil scratching.

"Do you know your name by chance?" The nurse asked, her face a semi transparent mask of annoyance. As though there was a fly that was constantly buzzing right by her ear but she could not swat at it for her hooves were occupied with something too important to let go of.

"Jayd. Thpelt J A Y D." Jayd replied quickly his voice squeeking slightly so that it might be heard. Hoping to somehow stay on the mares good side he added, "Who are you?"

"I," She gestured to herself with one hoof while maintaining the other three outside the now spreading water puddle, "Am Nurse Redheart." Redheart glanced back at her clipboard and wrote some more notes. Pencil scratches once again filled the awkward silence.

Jayd wondered how she could write without getting drool all over the board. Jayd always drooled far too much. Every girl he'd ever kissed could testify to that fact.

The image in your mind shifts back to a human Jayd a head of dirty blond hair flowing down his back almost to the buttocks region. He wore a ridiculously hippy looking ti-dye shirt and camouflaged pants as he locked lips with a slightly shorter red headed woman dressed in blue jeans and a red top which served to emphasize her bodacious chest.

She broke the kiss and wiped off her lips using the edge of Jayds hippy shirt. "Holy crap Jayd, It's like making out with a bull dog!" She glared at him with a mildly amused look of disgust.

Jayd merely swallowed and turned a slight shade of red as he shrugged.

"Now how long have you lived in Ponyville?" Redheart stared at Jayd as Jayd stare back at her. Ponyville. That's like naming a place Humantown. He made a mental note to Google Humantown on g-maps as soon as he got home.

The blank stare told Redheart all she needed to know. "Stho, you don'sst know you livthe in Ponythville." Nurse Redheart once again scribble AMNESIA across another couple of questions. She sat down for a moment, then stood up right away and glared at the still wet floor.

She put the pencil back into the clipboard and place the clipboard once again on the end of the bed. "Well it seems I won't be able to get much in the way of results from you so I'll just go get the doctor. Just stay calm, quiet, and try not to spill anything else before I get back." With that Nurse Redheart turned and walked past the curtain and out of the room.

Jayd felt surprisingly calm. His mind played with the idea that this was all an incredibly realistic dream. On one hand he was in a world of talking ponies. On another his head hurt like no tomorrow and his tongue was so swollen it was getting difficult to breath through the mouth.

"I knew I thouldn't have Thtayed up all night." Jayd muttered in his regular whispery tone. Visions of enemies slain and allies saved flashed before his eyes. Jayd briefly wondered if maybe he should lay off the video-games for a while.

Stewing in his thoughts Jayd barely noticed as a light brown stallion with a darker mane and heart rate monitor for a cutie mark walked in. A light blue aura surrounded a horn on his head.  The clipboard saw fit to float majestically out in front of the stallion.

"Hello there Jayd, I am Doctor Horse." Jayd continued his in depth questioning of reality as he knew it. This Doctor Horse sounded strangely familiar. "Anyways I just want to ask you a couple of questions. All of your vitals read as healthy as can be expected with such a blow to the head among other unexplained trauma If you'll just answer me some more questions."

The Doctor began to walk around the bed as Nurse Redheart also entered through the very bright curtains.

Redheart cried out quickly, "Hey watch out for..." Doctor Horse suffered a momentary laps in ambulatory function as his front left hoof hit the puddle of water and his face saw fit to attempt to impale itself on the bedside table.

Nurse Redheart flinched for a moment, She vaguely gestured the puddle, "That."

Staring blankly into space Jayd began to wonder why he didn't have the ability to levitate objects around him with glittery glowing power.

"Gah!" Writhing in pain for a moment Doctor Horse gave an angry look to the floor. His magic aura released the clipboard as the water all collected from the floor being sent out the nearby window to fall upon plants below.

Doctor Horse turned back to Jayd who had a far gone look in his eyes. Jayd merely shrugged to himself and the doctor took that as a sign to continue, "Anyways on a scale of one to ten how would you say you feel right now?" Jayd continued to stare into space.

The shiny blue seemed to emanate from the horn on this ponies head. There was a word for that. Unicorn? yeah. Unicorn. Corn sounded very delicious to Jayd at the moment. How long had he been here? When had he last eaten? It was a puzzlement.

Leaning over to his assistant the Doctor quietly asked, "He does remember how to speak Equestrian right?" Redheart merely returned his questioning gaze with a shrug.

"Well, He did tell me his name, and whispered something about hooves." Redheart began as she studied her patient. Jayd was once again staring at his hooves a mix of horror and fascination across his very pink slightly shaggy face.

A gentle hoof on his shoulder caused Jayd to jump out of his day dream. "Jayd look at me now." The doctor spoke very slowly as if to a small child. "Can you understand me?"

A smile fell upon Jayds lips. "Yeth, thorry." He said very quietly, "I jutht got dithtratced by how thhiny your forehead ith." Jayds eyes got wide as the glow intensified for a moment. Doctor Horse wrote a few more notes down on his clipboard.  Definitive damage to the tongue speaking is lisped. ADD?

"Ok, well I just need you to tell me where you are from, I can't seem to find any medical records about you anywhere in the system. Also the lack of a cutie mark just makes you that much more difficult to identify."

A confused look came over Jayds face, "Cutie mark?" He briefly pondered about avoiding the first question. Jayd was definitely not high. Well he was almost one hundred percent sure. Almost.

Nurse Redheart gave Jayd a double take, "You know, the symbol every pony gets when they find their special talent? The one thing they are better at than just about everyone else?" She turned and gestured to her own flanks, "My red cross?"

A look of realization exploded out from Jayd. "OH!" He said very loudly earning a stern glare from Redheart. Jayd ducked his head down in an embarrassed fashion. The tramp stamps had a special name. Very well.

"Can you tell us anything about yourself?" Doctor Horse asked, the pencil floated in his light blue aura ready to write into oblivion at a moments notice.

A thought popped into Jayd's mind. What if this isn't a dream? What if this is all real? Did Jayd really want to go and spend a few months in a loony bin because he thought he was human? Maybe the fact that he thought he was human proved he was the crazy one.

'WHY IS SANITY SO DIFFICULT A CONCEPT!' Jayds mind yelled at him.

"Wait a thecond." Jayd muttered almost thinking out loud. "I think I feel fine. I jutht have to get uthed to thith whole pony buthinethhhhh." Jayd crossed one hoof over the other and tapped his chin as he pondered.

The doctor scribbled notes furiously. The pencil danced in his magical grasp. Jayd looked on in awe. Never before had he seen such beauty in a simple writing utensil. He felt as though this moment was a gift from some great entity. Nurse Redheart looked concerned.

Silence again reigned for a moment and Jayd realized he needed again to speak.

"I really think I jutht need to get out the hothpital. If I go home thurely there will be thingth to tell me who I am?" Jayd tried to put his two back hooves on the floor and walk like a human but gravity once again got a hold of him and he faceplanted.

"Ow my poor nothe!" Jayd cried out as he laid on the floor. Doctor Horse and Nurse Redheart glanced at each other for a moment. A quick look out the window told them it was nearly noon, and there were many patients to deal with today.

Redheart grabbed Jayd with her fore-hooves and helped him to his feet. Standing on all fours seamed to do wonders for Jayd's balance issues.

"Maybe you should just lay down for a bit." Doctor Horse said as he put the clipboard back onto the post on the end of the bed. Jayd was still staring at the light blue glow of his horn as though it held the secrets of the universe.

Jayd simply nodded his head and ever so slowly climbed back into the bed with the help of Nurse Redheart. He laid back and stared at the ceiling.

Metal sliders and the withdrawal of light signaled to Jayd that the blinds were closing, "If you need anything just hit the blue button on the table. I'll bring you something to eat in just a bit." Nurse Redheart said as she left.

Today had been quite stressful. The disheveled stallion thought to himself. He glanced towards the half curtained window. A slight twinge began to build on his flank he shifted slightly and glanced behind him at the annoyingly long cherry red hair.

"Why did I have to have a tail?" Jayd muttered quietly to himself. He rolled onto one side, then the other. Then back onto his back. Then onto his stomach. Why tail? WHY?

His actions had now wrapped the long haired object around himself. It had a mind of it's own inhibiting the movement of Jayd's legs and slowly tightening as he tried ever harder to escape its clutches.

A small squeak of disdain escaped Jayd's lips as he sat on the hospital bed thoroughly owned by his new appendage. Jayd slumped back onto the small pillow near the top and resigned himself to his fate of waiting for Nurse Redheart to return and free him from his new fluffy prison.
