Pastel Radiance has lost her parents and her ability to do anything by herself. She is to be Queen but her Council says no. That not even the great Celestia was Queen before she married. That is what the great texts of the Olden years say. The Council does everything, she is too young to make decisions. All is good or so she thinks.

A resistance has sprung up. They want her dead, for the land has been plunged into poverty thanks to the Council. They believe her cousin will make a better Queen.

A baker and her friends are plunged into a dangerous mission, one that they decide to take on, on their own. They want the truth, and surely this mare who is their age can't be the monster who has caused so much trouble?
