You have arrived back at your home, the work day and trip back leaving you exhausted. Another day ended the same as the last. Deep down you were wishing for something to happen to you that would change your life, or even simply change your day. Of course, you were too exhausted to actually do anything about it. So it was back to what you always do: browse the internet for the rest of the day. You quickly turn on your computer, pull your chair out, and sat back into it.

Or at least you would have, if your chair was still there.

You were quite surprised to find the comfortable surface that had been placed behind you to sit was no longer there. You fell backwards onto the cold stone ground with a thud. In annoyance, you began to scan your room for signs of the prankster who dared remove your seat from under you. It took you a moment to fully realize that you were not in your house anymore.

No, the room you were in was not ‘homely’ at all. It wasn’t very friendly either. The grey stone floor and walls made the place seem more like a dark dungeon. The fact the rooms only light source was a few burning torches didn’t help its image either. You attempted to get off the ground and stand up, but are interrupted at the sight of another person just out of your light source.

“Well, you are certainly not what I was expecting.” The voice sounded female and just as annoyed at the situation as you. “The spell should have brought me someone… well, someone other than you, that’s for sure.”

Getting more annoyed to be rudely interrupted from your daily tasks only to be insulted, you stand up to face the mysterious woman and give her a piece of your mind. You never got the chance to, as a strange force wraps around your legs and lifts you off of the floor. Before you know it, you are carried towards the mysterious woman by this strange force. The fire of the torches began to burn brighter and change to the color of blue, illuminating the room better. You could now make out enough of the woman’s features to know that she is not human! Your mysterious woman was in fact a humanoid mare!

While your brain attempted to process this shocking information, the humanoid mare continued to scan you with her disapproving cyan colored eyes. “No, this will not do at all,” the humanoid mare mumbled to herself. Apparently, you were brought here completely by mistake. How comforting for you.

“Tartarus Sun!” the mare cursed as she turns away in frustration. You fall once again onto the cold floor as the force that held you up disappears. “All that time wasted! How did it go wrong? What did miss? I’m sure I followed everything that was written in that stupid book.” You watched as the mare returned to mumble to herself, most likely going over the actions she took that ended up bringing you to this room.  You attempted to stand up only to find the strange force once again lifting you off the floor. You were not enjoying being treated like a living yo-yo by this strange mare.

The mare gave you another look over before talking. “What are you, anyway?” she asked. You’d think that would have been the first thing she would have said to you if she didn’t know. You most likely would have asked her what she was. Just right after ‘how did you get into my house?’

You inform the mare that you are in fact a human. She gives you a look of both confusion and annoyance. “Human? I’ve never heard of your kind in Equestria. Are you one of those strange creatures that live in the Gryphon kingdom? Or do you live someplace beyond the Netherlands?”

Gryphons? There are Gryphons to deal with too? Don’t they eat people? As if this situation couldn’t get worst. You tell the mare that you’ve never even heard of any of those places before. The mare rolls her eyes in annoyance and you were pretty sure she was about to drop you on the floor again. Since you didn’t want to be dropped and picked up again, you yell at the creature to stop dropping you on the floor. That’s when you found the force that had been keeping you in the air start tightening its grip on you. You are lifted higher in the air to the face the mare at eye level, while the rest of you squirm helplessly in the air.

The mare gave you an angry glare. “Insolent creature. Do you know who are addressing?” she asked. The expression on your face was all the answer you felt you needed to say. You’ve already told her how you’ve never heard of any of these locations before. How would you know about its people? The mare continued on. “I am Nightmare Moon. I rule over all creatures that live in the night, be they dreamers or night walkers. I hold the power over the moon itself. I have powers of a god!”

Right.’ While she does seem to have powers, you really doubt they were really god tier powers. If she was that powerful, shouldn’t she have had the power to do the summoning spell correctly?

The angry look growing on Nightmare Moon’s face told you that you had accidentally said that last part out loud. Her eyes widen and began to glow white as her body began to shake in frustration. “You… You pathetic, brainless, worthless lump of horse apples! You dare to mock me?” A brilliant cyan light began to shine from Nightmare Moon’s head, allowing you to see her in more detail. The light seemed to glow around a horn on her head. She’s a unicorn? The Light brightens the room enough to make out her outstretched wings. A Pegasus too? You fell to the floor as her tail, the strange force that has been lifting you up, shrunk itself and lay at her side.

Nightmare Moon took a step closer towards you and pointed her finger at you. “You are in need of a lesson, worm. A lesson I will happily teach you.” The magical aura around her horn began to brighten even more, apparently powering up for some kind of attack. You felt fear overcome you, and all you could think to do was to back up until you could back up no more. The room began to hum from the buildup of the spell, and you cowered in your corner, unable to watch the doom that was approaching you.

Then the sound just faded away. You dared to peek at Nightmare Moon who simply stood there with a puzzled look on her face. She must have expected something different to happen That’s two times her magic had failed, you thought. And this time you made sure it stayed a thought!

“What… what did you do to me?” Nightmare Moon asked.

You took a moment to think of what you could have possibly done before giving your answer. You did absolutely nothing. Nightmare Moon focused her eyes on you with a stern glare. “If you’re lying to me…” You raise your hands over your head, hoping it would convince Nightmare Moon of your lack of magic altering abilities. The two of you simply stared at each other in silence, expecting the other to act.

The silence is broken as Nightmare Moon sighs in frustration. “Fine, follow me then.”

You watch Nightmare Moon turn around and light up the hallway with the magic from her horn. Slowly you get to your feet and begin to follow her down the hall. It wasn’t as if you were going to stay in this room after all. Whatever she did to bring you here, you were quite clueless on how to reverse. There also seemed to be no other exits to the room. Catching up to her, you ask Nightmare Moon where she was leading you.

“To my Castle,” she replied. “Whether you are telling the truth about not having a part to play in the disappearance of my magic or not, the answers I seek to rectify this situation will be there.”

And you are just to follow her into the heart of her domain? You asked.  You spot a new light source head of you shining down upon some stairs. Must be the way out of here.

“If you wish to return to your world again, then yes. Besides, you are already standing on my domain. So you might as well follow like a good human.”

You ask her what she means by that as the two of you approached the stairs.

Nightmare Moon turned around to address you. “I told you, I am Nightmare Moon. I hold power over the moon itself. There is no place on it that you can run or hide from me. And at the moment it would take a great deal of power to escape it at the moment. Power I doubt you have.” With that, she turns back to ascending the stairs to the top.

Wait. So is she saying you’re on the moon? But that can’t be true.

Climb the stairs to see if it is true.
