Chapter 2

Twilight Sparkle used her previously gathered energy to use her magic to lift him, and she ran to the hospital. This colt’s life is in my hooves, she thought. Though she was running, she decided to see what the pony looked like.

He was unconscious, obviously. He was green with black hair- just like the colors from his half of the comet. He would seem like some average pony, but one thing made him special: He was handsome. He wasn’t any background Pegasus. And another thing: He had one eye half-open, and one forcefully closed. Twilight thought nothing of that at the time.

Twilight just shook off the ideas. She had entered the hospital.

“Please!” yelled Twilight. “Somebody please help this colt! He needs serious medical attention now!”

Nurse Redheart came sprinting around the corner and looked at the colt intently. She knew what had to be done. “We need an open ER!” she yelled down the corridors. “Twilight. Who is this Pegasus?”

“I really don’t know,” explained Twilight. “He… came here out of strange circumstances. Just please, he is really hurt and needs attention now.”

Nurse Redheart paused for a moment, and then nodded. She pushed the Pegasus onto a cart to be able to easily brought to the ER.

Right before Nurse Redheart started pushing the cart, the Pegasus opened its previously half-opened eye. It looked at the Twilight and weakly said, “Thank… you…” and gave an even weaker smile. Then Nurse Redheart hurriedly pushed the cart down a hallway to be soon followed by other nurses and doctors.

Twilight was between a rock and a hard place right then. She really wanted to help this colt, but Spike would wake up to find Twilight not around, for dawn was nearing. But if she went home, this Pegasus wouldn’t know what to do or where to go. She sighed and stayed at the hospital. She was expecting to stay there for quite a while, but Nurse Redheart came out of the ER a lot sooner than anypony had expected.

“He recovered from his injuries much faster than expected,” said Nurse Redheart. “He seemed to naturally, more like unnaturally, recover from his injuries while we operated. Anyway, he’s safe and sound, so no need to worry.”

Twilight sighed a breath of relief. But her quest was not over. “When will he be out?”

Nurse Redheart simply replied, “Whenever… oh yes, that reminds me about another topic to talk about. His eye…”

Twilight was genuinely worried. “Is it infected? Swollen?”

“We’re not sure… It could be worse, better, or not anything at all.”

“What? That doesn’t seem to make sense.”

“He just wouldn’t open his eye. He was half-conscious, but he still had complete control over his eye.”

Strange, thought Twilight, why would he not open his eye?

“Anyway,” Nurse Redheart continued, “Would you like to have him leave? Even though he appears to not be an Equestrian citizen, you can take him with you as his “legal guardian”, even though he is a fully mature Pegasus.”

Twilight though for a moment. “Since he isn’t an Equestrian citizen, he probably wouldn’t know what to do after he leaves here. So I guess I’ll take him.”

“Okay, I’ll bring him here.”

Nurse Redheart came back soon after, with the Pegasus standing next to her. He looked like he was now much healthier. “Here you go, Twilight.”

Twilight was grateful. “Thank you so much, Nurse Redheart.”

“All in a day’s work.”

Twilight and this colt walked outside the hospital. She just realized something… he is wearing an eye patch over his bad eye. She had to start a conversation here. “Um… so… what’s your name?”

He shied away for a moment, but quietly said, “I’m Ronal.”

“Hello, Ronal. I’m Twilight Sparkle, and I guess I’ll be taking care of you.”

He just simply nodded. She just realized that she never looked at his cutie mark. She swung her head back to look at his cutie mark. It was the comet, yet again. But it was in half, and it was his half. Why was this comet always appearing? She knew this was a personal topic, so she didn’t ask about it.

Twilight had to bring up another question. “Um… so, where are you from?” She knew the answer, but wanted to see his perspective.

Ronal frowned and said, “I don’t know. I just know my name, and that’s the only personal thing I know. I feel like I have amnesia, but I don’t at the same time.”

“So I’m assuming you also don’t have any memories?”

“No. The oldest thing I remember is you finding me.”

Well, there goes any thoughts I had for asking him questions. Thought Twilight.

“Well, here’s my home.” She had pointed out that her house was not a tree.

Ronal stared at the tree. “Um… that’s a tree house.”

“I know, but I live here.” She went upstairs with Ronal and opened the door to find that Spike was still sleeping. “Well, this is where you’re going to be staying. It seems strange right now, but it’s actually cozy.” Twilight pointed out a bed on in the corner with a night stand next to. “That’s where you’ll be sleeping, I guess.”

Ronal looked around. “I like it here. Thank you for being so kind to me, even though we barely know each other.” He them walked over to his bed and tucked in.

Twilight just remembered that she never introduced herself, except for telling him her name. Nothing I can do now. I might as well go to bed. Twilight then slipped into bed and fell asleep for only a few hours, because she forgot how close it was to dawn.
