Her Past doesn't define her

Chug chug chug chugga chug chug, the heavy chugging growling from Jets guitar as he clicked on a distortion pedal with his right foot. He was practicing a cover song of his favorite band as a means to ease the emotions flooding through his mind. What happened today was a blur, nothing but anger and wanting revenge but seeing his sister giving her tormentor another chance confused him. Sugar Belle opens the door to Jets room as his back was turned to her, "Dinner!" He couldn't hear her as she frowned, she reached over and pulled out the left ear bud of Jets headset as he turns around quickly.

"Jesus Sugar Belle you know I hate that!" He growls annoyed as she gives him the finger while walking away, "I can give zero fucks bro, it's dinner."

He unslings his guitar and follows as Sugars long brown sugar colored hair sways while she skips down the hallways. The 17 year old girl is shorter in height than Jet, while he is at 6'1 she is a 5'10. Her peach skin and blue eyes contrast Jets brown eyes and tanned skin, a bubbly personality equivalent to that of that one party girl Jet remembers, none other than Pinkie Pie. As they go to sit at the table, dinner all set with courtesy from Sugar Belles delicious cooking, they say grace then start to eat.

As the two siblings ate, Jet set down his silverware and looks at his sister, "I... I don't get it."

She stops eating the noodles halfway and looks up, "What do you mean?"

"Sunset shimmer..." He reminds her, "You forgave her so easily... after everything shes done. Why did you forgive her so easily?"

She shrugs, "I just don't hold onto grudges, its bad for someones heart, I forgive and let the past go. Even if she was horrible I still think she's capable of change." She explained as she dives back into her noodles.

Jet sat there in deep thought, it wasn't until thirty minutes later that she pushes him, "Hellooooooo Jet Radke, annoying brother, you there?"

He lunges at her as she squealed and runs away, "That will teach you!" he smiles as he finishes his remaining portion of his meal. After he put the dishes away, he starts to clean them as he went into deep thought about what his sister said,"How is it that forgiving is easy for my little sis but for me its like the hardest thing I could ever do?" He continues to think about it until he felt his feet get wet, Jet realizes he let the water run as it starts to overflow and wet the floor.

"OH SHIT!" He quickly turns off the water and lets it drain as he grabs a towel to dry the floor. He looks around to make sure his sister didn't catch him or he'd be shit out of luck. As soon as he finished, he returned to his room and lays down on his bed and stares at the ceiling. He reaches over to grab his headphones and puts them in his ear as he scrolls through a list of heavy metal songs and clicks on a random song he wanted to hear.

Suddenly his phone rings, cutting off the music as he groans and checks the phone, "Who in the fuck wants me now?"

He answers the phone, "Hello.." the voice on the other side made him sit up straight as he recognized who it was.

"Its me... Sunset Shimmer." She said, somewhat hesitant to say her name.

Jet looks at the number and goes back to speaking with her, "How did you get this number?"

"Who else would have the phone numbers to every person at school?" She asked to see if he can guess.

He groans and facepalms himself, slowly letting his hand drag down his face, "Ugh... Pinkie Pie."

"Correct." She affirmed.

"So.. what do you want Sunset?" He lays back down, tired and somewhat paying attention to the girl on the other line.

"I was just calling because I wanted to see if you're ok." she says as she was in her purple pajamas and curled against the headboard.

He rolls to his side and ponders the prior events as he sighs and closes his eyes, "I don't know... today was just... just awful."

Sunset can agree with that, "Today wasn't a walk in the park for me either." Jet groans as he sighs loudly,

"Fuck my life." Sunset pulls out her homework as she starts to work on a few questions from her history class.

"Whats the matter?" She asks as she writes down the answers, Jet tells her about how his grades are dropping, he isn't doing well in math since its his weakest part of his learning. "I kid you not, math is like a different language I cannot understand. It fucking frustrates me." He explains as he flips through his phone menu to find something to do while still talking to her.

"I can tutor you." Sunset suggested as Jet sits up straight, "Say that again?"

She sighs as she puts the phone close to her mouth, " I said I can tutor you. How does that sound?"

Jet thinks about it, either he can let her teach him or he says no and ruin his school year. The first option sounds better, with that in mind he agrees.

"Alright, after school tomorrow we can study at my house, my parents aren't home during the day so it should be ok." Sunset assures him, even though it is a half lie since she has no family in this world. Besides her friends, her parents are still in Equestria, wondering if their little filly is ok and doing well. Jet gets up off the bed and walks out of his room to get a drink from the kitchen, "Alright, sounds good. See you tomorrow." He hangs up as he enters the kitchen to grab a drink, looking at the time to see the clock say 7 pm, "Shit... i have to do my homework or i'll be fucked..."

he slowly drags his feet back to his room and closes the door. He pulls his bag to his desk and takes out his homework as he starts on the same history homework that Sunset has.

Next day

Sunset Shimmer was sitting with her new friends when a tall kid in black walks their way, "Uh oh, here comes the meanie." Pinkie Pie whispers as Jet sits at the end of the table, facing them as he sighs while looking down, he finally looks up and apologizes, "I know I don't have the right to ask this of any of you but I am sorry. I'm sorry for being mean, being hateful towards Sunset Shimmer. I just let my emotions take over sound judgement. I hope you girls can forgive me." The girls looked at each other as Apple Jack looks at Jet, "Ahhh its a'right, water under the bridge right girls?" The girls nod as Rarity clears her throat.

"Well at least he apologized, and admits to his mistake, that's a gentleman trait." she says as Jet smiles.

"Thanks, I hope we can be friends, especially with you Sunset." He hoped they would accept as the girls nod and Pinkie smiles brightly.

"I accept your friendship Jet." Sunset smiles as everyone continues to eat, Jet starts to eat his pizza as he starts to listen to his music.

"What you listening to Jet?" Rainbow asks as she leans forward over AppleJack, the look of annoyance on the country girls face was easily seen.

Jet looks up, "Stuff you probably don't listen to." She exits her chair and walks to him and sits near him, "Try me kid." He looks at her tilting his head already knowing she is going to be an issue, "Im not a kid and two you want to listen? Here." He hands her a free ear bud as she puts it to her ear, he plays the song Our Endless War by WhiteChapel and her excited face somewhat lessened as the singer starts growling out the words.

"Wow uhhhhh, its... nice?" Rainbow says trying to lessen the impact of the words but Jet sees through it, "Don't bullshit me, you don't like it. I do though. Loving the heavy guitar riffs, drums and vocals, something I bet you can't do."

She huffs as her face gets red, contrasting against her light blue face, "Oh yearh! I play guitar too and I can probably beat the other guitarists no sweat because everyone knows i'm awesome!"

Jet goes back to eating his pizza, "Whatever..." the response only further pisses off Rainbow Dash, she growls as she goes back to her seat and grumbles to herself, making AppleJack whisper to Jet, "Thank ya sugar cube for shuttin her up." He winks as he finishes his pizza.

After lunch, his last class was math, and he has it at the same time as Sunset Shimmer, "Math is going to blow majorly today."

he thinks to himself as he steps into the classroom and takes a seat. Sunset sits behind him and passes him a note, it reads "After school, tutoring at my house." He turns to look behind him as she waves hi, he responds and waves hi back as the teacher walks in and starts the class.

The school bell finally rings as Jet grabs his bag, upset and feeling lost as he held his test paper, the red mark on the top of the page that shows him a D- further puts a crack in Jets self worth as Sunset Shimmer catches up to him, "Hey Jet, where you going? You coming to my house?"

He sighs and shows her the paper, her eyes go wide as she looks through the wrong answers, "Holy shit you do need help." He nods,

"Like I said, I fucking suck."

She redirects him to the school entrance to the parking lot, "You don't suck you just need mmmmm just need help. Oh and I usually walk home and I know you drive so, mind if you can give me a ride?" Jet pulls out his keys and unlocks the doors to his mustang as he gets into the drivers seat and sunset goes into the front seat.

"Nice car." She says as she looks around in the interior as Jet pushes down on the clutch and starts the car, shifting into first and driving carefully past other cars and onto traffic. "Ok so we go down two blocks and make a right, then from there we go straight till we go to a stop sign and make a left." Jet looks at her then back to the road, "Holy shit Sunset, how do you ever get to school on time?" She shrugs her shoulders.

Jet continues to drive until they finally arrived 15 minutes later. Jet parks the car on her driveway as they both go inside, the living room taking Jet by surprise because there were objects he has never seen before. "What is all this stuff?"

Sunset turns to look and looks at the items from Equestria, "Oh shit! Forgot to hide these!" she quickly makes up a lie, "Trinkets from my parents travels when they decide to a worldwide cruise." Jet eyes them suspiciously as he looks away, "Ah... ok then."

They make their way to the dining room as they both set their bags on top and pull out their homework, "So is math the only thing you have a problem with?" He nods as he drops his math book on the table making a loud slam.

"Alright so... whats the first order of business?" Jet asks as she pulls out a calculator and a protractor, "Well first we are going to do what the teacher taught us today. I saw you having a hard time understanding so we are going to do this today and help you understand by the end of the night." Sunset says as she lays out the course for the nights study session.

Jet groans as he takes a seat and looks up at the ceiling, "Fuck my life."
