My sister and I ran around Canterlot Castle's halls playing a friendly game of tag while Celestia and Luna were dealing with the political aspects of royalty, A.K.A. bills, taxes, organization, etcetera.
Chasing my sister, we ran by a few guards, startling them.We quickly said hello and then continued our game getting higher and higher in the castle. Soon, I was catching up to Eclipse almost close enough to get her, and then, she jumped, spreading her light orange wings and she glided for about 10 meters and proceeded to faceplant with the grace of an eagle. Piloting a blimp. Whatever a blimp is. As Eclipse was recovering, I ran up to her, and casually smacked her with my midnight black hoof over the back of her head, messing up her teal-blue mane.
"Hey! What gives? That really hurt, Angel." Eclipse half shrieked, half spat out at me with a sad face. Though she was obviously aggravated at the fact her mane was messed up and her pride was ruined.
"You're it now!"
I responded nearly singing the last word with a smirk upon my face.
Eclipse looked exasperated and annoyed. she turned to me and asked,
"Why do we always play tag? Why not anything else? There's other games Angel..." She gave me a look with her bright blue eyes that could melt almost any heart. Keyword:almost.
"Because! Those other games are boring! Especially 'Sit'. I don't like 'Sit'. " I replied, sighing. There was no doubt about it, we were bored. So we did what any other sane fillies would do, Bug the authority to the point of annoyance. In this case, It was our sisters, Celestia and Luna.
"But Celly-"
"No buts, we are working on our nation's taxes."
"Hehehe. Celley, you said butt!"
"Oh shut it, Eclipse!"
"Why don't you go and listen to your own advice?"
"You're mean..."
"WILL THE BOTH OF THEE PLEASE HALT THIS UNNESSANT ARGUMENT?"
Terrified, Eclipse and I apologized, and left the room, closing the large doors behind us. Once we were a safe distance away from the door we came out of, I asked a question that had been on my mind for some time now. I hoped Eclipse wouldn't freak out.
"Eclipse?"
"Yes?"
"Ever wondered what it's like to not be an alicorn? To not constantly have the spotlight? To be able to escape the formalities?"
"Yeah, a few times. Why?"
"I- I." I hesitated, should I really tell her? Finally I finished my sentence.
"I was just wondering..."
Her face went from sullen and somber to bright and cheerful in the blink of an eye.
"Good! We made a promise, remember? Together forever, or at least 'til the end, because we're sisters, the best of friends!"
"Yeah... Together." I said, a sinking feeling in my heart. Brushing a blue and black clump of hair out of my face, I smiled, though not genuinely. Sadly, this promise was going to end up breaking.
