vel'koz - twilight sparkle
Load Full Storyall she was, was pain. it was all she saw, all she heard, all she felt, all she was. she had never felt such pain.
"interesting. where am I?" what? a voice? it wasn't one she had heard before. was it death?
p-please... help me..." it was all she could do to get it's attention.
"a pony? i have not seen one of those for thousands of years..." she felt something, a tentacle, or a tail, wrap around her damaged midsection, and lift her up. she felt something heavy, presumably a piece of rubble, fall off of her legs. you are grievously injured. we must get you to a hospital immediately. i don't know how to repair three broken legs. not with 100% success."
wh... who are you?"
"i am vel'Koz, the eye of the void."
and it all truly faded to black.
"princess! we found her!" the guard burst in, and princess Celestia was upon him in a moment.
"where is she?!"
"she was brought to the hospital, by..."
"who? was it hyde?"
"n-no, but just as odd. you should go see her." a flash of yellow, and princess Celestia was gone.
"i'm sorry princess, but you can't see her. she's in surgery." the nurse pushed the princess down into a seat. "you'll have to wait."
"can you at least tell me where the pony who saved her is? i'd like to thank them."
"uh,he or it? he left when he brought her in. he did say something about collecting information, though, if that helps.
"not really. how bad is it?"
"both her back legs, and her right foreleg are broken, multiple deep lacerations all over her body, a large piece of rubble lodged itself in her abdomen, and a massive concussion. it'll be amazing if she remembers her own name after this."
"perfect. do you know the direction he went?"
"in the general direction of ponyville."
for the first time in my life, i was afraid. not from a mortal danger, no. nothing can challenge me and win. But I was afraid of what i just did. the ramifications of my actions finally entered my mind about a mile or so from -canterlot-. i. saved. a. life. never before had i done that. instead of consuming her for the knowledge she contained, i delivered her to a place of healing, a 'hospital'. maybe a malfunction? no. i have never deviated from my quest. and i never shall again.
hopefully.
today was a strange day. after leaving the rubble of canterlot, vel'Koz ran over 50 self diagnostics, but was unable to discern exactly what happened. Disheartened, he made his was west, towards an unknown destination. he didn't know why he was going there, his quest for knowledge did not propel him there, but something else. only when he realized what he was doing, did he stop. but something continued to urge him forwards. when he reached his destination, he would have to run another diagnostic scan or 50.
strange. my destination appears to be a city. no. a town. too big to be a hamlet. but not big enough to be a city. my visuals appear to be malfunctioning, as well. i cannot scope out the entirety of the town in one go. i do one half, and then i find another building that i was absolutely sure was not there before. it is baffling. and on one end, far larger than any other building i've seen in the town, was a castle made of crystal. i might find answers there.
vel'koz was hurrying in his way, when a bright rainbow shot passed him.
"what? what was that? a polychromatic refraction of light heading in one solid direction? a rainbow?" the rainbow, seeming to care nothing for common physics, turns completely around, and starts heading towards him again. he wastes no time. he charges his Life Form Disintegration Ray, and aims it at the head of the rapidly approaching rainbow. "you will make an interesting specimen, rainbow." he fired, and the shot was dead on.
except that it missed. the rainbow ducked out of the way at the last moment, and continued towards him. "a champion? odd. this isn't the field of battle. but i have been attacked outside of the field before." after a few calculations, he brought a tentacle down right as the rainbow, which he now was 100% sure was a pony, was within range. his attack was met with a resounding crack. not relenting, he brought another tentacle up, and threw it up in the air.
"silly pony. you attempt to fight things beyond you." vel'koz turned, and leaving the pony to fall to their death, continued to the town. an unforeseen nuisance. but an easily rectified one. the populace of the town, also ponies, seem to have seen my aerial battle with the rainbow pony, and seem to be avoiding me. i touched down on the outskirts, and moved towards the castle.
up close, the castle was even more magnificent. vel'koz broke a piece off the side, and consumed it.
"interesting. formed in one day? by magic? this requires more study."
