My Little Pony Champions of Justice
Chapter 6-Fractured Memories
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSweetie Belle had returned to school after being allowed to stay home due to her leg injury, many of her classmates came to welcome her back especially Scootaloo and Apple Bloom; Her closest friends and fellow members of her club "The Cutie Mark Crusaders" Who had been worried sick since they were told not to visit until she was feeling better, after school the three fillies made their way to their clubhouse on Sweet Apple Acres that is until they were greeted by Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara (AKA) The two most spoiled obnoxious fillies in the schoolyard.
"Well well. Look who decided to show up?" Diamond Tiara taunted with the usual smug grin she always gave Sweetie and her friends with Silver Spoon behind her.
"I must admit Sweetie Belle I'm glad you're back."
"You...are?" The unicorn filly said in surprise raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. It's been dull just teasing TWO blank flanks!"
Silver Spoon said before bursting into laughter with Diamond as the trio rolled their eyes walking off. The three began to near the farm and noticed Valiant had been working on the south field with Big Mac, they seemed to be having some sort of plow race.
"THAT ALL YA GOT BIG MAN?!!" Valiant shouted as he pulled a short distance ahead, his chin dripping with sweat.
"Nope!" Big mac said as he charged full speed, beating Valiant to the edge of the field. Annoyed from his defeat the unicorn huffed in frustration before noticing the three fillies watching from the fence as they waved hello to the two workers. There was only one more section of the field left to plow as both racers got into a starting position, both had been exhausted from the heavy pulling and dry heat from today's work so this would be the final race.
"Alright Mac. If I win I get your slice of apple pie. Fair deal?"
"Eeyup. Bring it on!" The large red stallion accepted with confidence in his voice. Deciding to join in on the fun the crusaders stood next to the two racers as Sweetie Belle prepared to start the race.
"Ready...set...GOOO!!!" The little filly shouted as both stallions took off like a shot, leaving a massive dust trail behind them. Big Mac was already ahead by a few feet but Valiant was quickly gaining momentum, it seemed that the previous running had warn the red stallion out as Valiant quickly took the lead with Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle cheering him on.
"ALRIGHT VALIANT!"
"COME ON BIG MAC! YOU CAN DO IT!!" Applebloom cheered on for her big brother as he tried to catch up with his opponent. As they neared the end of the field a bright light flashed in front of Valiant and before he knew it he nearly ran into a tree.
"What the...?" He asked himself looking around and saw that he was not in Sweet Apple Acres anymore but in a dense forest yet something about this place seemed very familiar. From a distance he began to hear the chatter of a nearby town and just overlooking a small hill he could see a towering archway decorated with a lion banner.
"It can't be...Elwynn Forest?" Valiant was in doubt at first but could see that he was indeed back in the forest of his homeworld. The smell and feel of the area was all too familiar to the young stallion as a warm smile broke upon his face when out of nowhere.
FWEEEP!!!
THWACK!!
"WHOA!!" He screamed as an arrow narrowly missed his foot, making him notice he was once again in human form.
"MOVE IT ROOKIE!!! DOUBLE TIME GO GO GO!!!" A drill sergeant shouted before another arrow whizzed over his head. Without another moments hesitation Valiant ran in the same direction the arrows were flying, dodging as many as he could before getting nailed right in the spine, needless the say the pain was excruciating as a few others were nailed as well yet as he felt for his injury he found no arrow stuck in him and the arrow that struck him had a round arrow head covered in leather.
"Blunt heads?" Valiant asked before noticing the archers prepare another volley, quickly springing to his feet Valiant neared what looked like the end of of the firing range when another arrow nailed him dead center in the forehead. Making him hit the ground like a rock, everything spun around as another human walked up to the fallen trainee with a few medics behind him.
"Not bad kid. But you gotta stay on your toes, you never know WHERE the enemy might attack." The voice suddenly began to echo and fade and before Valiant knew it he was back in the field surrounded by the cutie mark crusaders along with Big Mac and Applejack.
"Ohh...what happened?" Valiant groaned as he rubbed the sides of his head, the memory of the arrow striking him still fresh in his mind.
"You blacked out sugarcube and we were really worried."
"Eeyup. You feelin alright?"
"I...I don't know...I need to see Twilight." Valiant unhooked the harness around his neck as he walked towards Ponyville leaving the others still concerned about his condition. Later in the castle library. Valiant told Twilight of the vision he had on the farm as well as the first one when he was in Canterlot. The princess sat there with her hair tied in a bun while wearing glasses and holding a clip board while Valiant laid on the couch like any patient would at a therapy session.
"Hmm...judging from what you told me Valiant these aren't visions but memories."
"Memories? how can that be?"
"Well let's retrace your steps. What do you remember before coming here to Equestria?"
"Nothing much. It's all bits and pieces."
"Hmm..." Twilight rubbed a hoof to her chin as she pondered for a solution.
"AH HA!! Wait here!" She shouted in excitement before running downstairs. Valiant sat there twirling his hooves for a while, staring at the ceiling when Twilight finally returned holding a strange white bottle.
"I learned how to make this potion from Zecora. It helps the one who drinks it view certain points in history."
"And this will help me how? POINK! OW!!" Valiant jerked his head back after feeling one of his hairs getting pulled out from Twilights magic.
"A little warning next time?!" He growled rubbing his head as she gave a simple smile, adding his hair to the potion.
"There! now if my theory is correct you should be able to see what happened and don't worry I'll be able to join you once I've had a sip." She said pouring two small cups for each of them.
"Well. Bottoms up!" Both unicorns drank down the potion in one quick gulp yet nothing happened.
"Wait for it." Twilight said as five seconds past before the potion finally took its effect. The two were in a military encampment, one that Valiant easily recognized.
"This is our base camp! And there's me!!" Valiant pointed to a large black stallion standing on a ledge as Twilight began to hear the sounds of a battle erupting. Down below the two could see a horde of undead soldiers being overwhelmed by both armies of humans and orcs. In that moment Valiant froze up with terror when he remembered what came next.
"DOWWN!!!" The unicorn shouted as he tackled Twilight away from a descending bomb. Soon the whole camp was consumed by the toxic fumes yet Twilight seemed unafraid.
"It's alright Valiant. It's a memory, nothing can harm us." Twilight demonstrated as she stuck her hoof in a nearby campfire but nothing happened. No burning of flesh or smoke coming off her arm, the demonstration made him feel at ease but the screams did not as he watched his comrades all around him become consumed by the gas.
"VALIANT!! VALIANT!!" A human called out to the black stallion who had been running through the now blazing camp. Valiants head quickly turned around to see his old master waving to him.
"Master!!" Valiant said with joy as he ran towards him, forgetting that this was only a memory. Just then a stray bomb hit a nearby lab tent creating a huge explosion that created the portal sending him to Equestria. A bright light blinded both unicorns as the memory flashed to the vortex that trapped Valiant and in it was his master protecting him with his magic. Valiant and Twilight could see that the explosion had wounded him greatly and that he was using the last of his magic to protect him.
"No...." Valiant watched helplessly as his master began to fade into a golden light that seemed to seep into his body.
"Goodbye old friend...Light bless you." Those were the humans last words just before they flashed back to the real world. Valiant just stood there silent and still, his mane covering his eyes as he prepared to leave.
"Valiant?"
"I need to be alone...." Valiants voice had grown dark and cold, like he had turned into a different pony and Twilight could tell that seeing the fate of his old friend had hurt him deeply.
"Valiant...."
That night as a storm began to roll in Valiant stood atop a small ledge just on the outskirts of town, his sorrow and rage became too much to bear after finally learning the truth about his visions and the fate of his master.
"Hrrr....RRRRRAAAAGGGHHHHH!!!!!!"
One loud cry of anger was all he could give.
The End.
