Life after the battle

Going to war

A battalion of Equestria’s finest marched towards the settlement. Once the small army had surrounded the town, Luna had stepped out the circle to speak, she was not happy, how could her subjects betray her like this?

“I AM LUNA, RULER OF EQUESTRIA,” said Luna, her thundering voice echoed so far that the dragons in the capital of the dragon territory could hear her mighty roar,” YOU HAVE BETRAYED US AND ARE TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY, IF YOU REFUSE TO COMPLY, I WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO UNLEASH MY FINEST STALLIONS ON YOU, ANY SURVIVORS WILL BE SENT TO THE SUN!”

“How about no!”

“THEN YOUR DEMISE WILL BE IMMINENT! CHARGE!”

The cries of five thousand soldiers roared as they made their descent into the village. The army shouted “For Equestria” with much passion and might. The villagers who were earth ponies charged the oncoming army with pitchforks and other farming tools. The pegasi hurled rocks from above and finally both side’s unicorns fired an onslaught of magic at each other.

The first ponies clashed and the earth ponies were no match for their enemy’s shields and magic, they pushed them aside as if they were a paper bag on the ground. The pegasi hadn’t fared well too, the constant fire brought on them resulted in a mass killing where pegasi fell from the sky to meet a gruesome death as their corpses lie distorted and bloodied. The unicorns had, unlike their other comrades, had done quite well to fend off the oncoming opposition. Their only issue was that they were far outnumbered, within a couple hours the battle seized. Hundreds of corpses lay, some magles, others with burns from magic that caused third degree burns, the earth ponies were burned and some were battered and bruised, bloodied by the brute force of Luna’s brigade.

“Very good, troops, you fought valiantly today, it is however, a shame that my own subjects must be subjected to the terrors of war. I do not wish this on anypony, to take one’s life, a wise pony once said ‘ it is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder’. Such a tragic day, to see ponies once who loved you so much that they would die for you now lie mangled, burned, battered, bruised and bloodied, let this day be remembered for the act of violence that I wished could have been avoided but alas, it was for good cause, had we not did what we have done, much more might of had to die.”

“Yes, your majesty,” a soldier said,” one of the hardest things about being a soldier is that you kill somepony who likely have a family who will grieve for their death. Enemy or not, it saddens me so.”

“So, are there any survivors?”

A high ranked official spoke,” my team swept the town, only the children remain.”

“I can not stand to kill the future of my nation, I want them to live with me at the royal palace until they are old enough to live on their own, once they are, I want you and your battalion to arrange opportunities for homes.”

“Yes princess.”

And with that the battle was over.
