Daniel the Brony

Chapter 1: No More.

"Another pony dream?" Daniel spoke to himself as he did most mornings, while he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "I gotta lay off the late night Netflixing." He arose from his bed and left his room to go eat breakfast, however, he did not get dressed. Now this was odd because he is typically a very OCD person about that sort of thing. But it felt today that their was no real drive or reason to do so.

The first person he saw up was Joshua, his brother. Now, this too was odd in Daniels eyes, as Josh was never awake as early as this due to a rather nasty sleep disorder called laziness. "Hey Josh what are you doing up so early?" Daniel asked sarcastically and ironically, because he himself was up at around ten in the morning. "I have a thing this morning that I had to be up for." He replied, with a sour irritated expression on his face, as he often did when speaking to anyone anytime before one in the afternoon.

It was at this moment that Daniel realized that Josh's face in the morning resembled a certain crotchety old Jeff Dunham puppet. He gave out a small giggle out loud at this thought, then continued to serve himself breakfast. "So what thing are you up for?" Daniel asked the Walter-y young man. "MLP:FiM season opener ring the singular bell in your head?" He replied rather upsettingly rudely.

Saying acronyms instead of the thing the acronym is for is pretty common place here.

"Oh yeah that was this morning, huh?" Daniel stated still rather drowsy, the pilot light in his mind was maybe just a little covered with marshmallow cream. It'll click eventually, just give it a second.

"Oh dang it! Now I have to wait 'til tomorrow don't I?! He yelled angrily at Josh realizing that once again the DVR was on the fritz. "Yep," Josh replied slightly happier now than he was moments prior. "it was a doozy too." "Oh you've got to be kidding me, there is no way Weird Al was on there again!" Daniel was getting agitated with Josh. "Maybe so, guess you'll have to watch tomorrow and find out." He blatantly stated, like the backstabbing scum that Danny always knew he was.

"Fine I don't want you to spoil it anyway." Daniel tried to give a comeback and reason to himself that Josh not telling him was a good thing at the same time. It didn’t work.

"Have you done kitchen yet?" Josh interrogated him as if he actually cared about whether or not Daniel had restocked the silverware drawer with  spoons, and put away the pans that were so graciously cleaned the night before by past Daniel.

"I just got up." Daniel admitted as he entered the kitchen. "Not that you care."

"Whoa, what's with the attitude? All I did was ask a simple question."

"What the heck man?! Why didn't you get me up? You knew I wanted to watch that!"

"Yeah, I thought about it, but then I decided this would be a whole lot funnier. And hey, I was right! This is pretty funny!"

"Fine fine, you've had your laugh. Check what time it's tomorrow for me."

"Ah ah ah you didn't say the magic word!"

"Please?"

"Well no, it was Jeff Goldbloom, but whatever. Uh, seems to be on at seven tomorrow, long before church."

Daniel continued throughout his day normally. Doing kitchen, avoiding homework like the plague infected a nest of black widows, everyday things like that, then mom told him to go to bed. It was already about midnight so he went off to the cave basement his ground level regular room had become since ponies.

Of course once he got into his room it was straight to Netflix. "I'll only watch three episodes of MLP, to prepare for tomorrow." He said to himself. One and a half hilarious jump cuts eluding to the fact that he had been up until almost five in the morning later, and then he fell asleep.

Dreaming of ponies had become habitual by this time, but this dream felt odd, there was just some off-putting aura about the whole thing. Not that Daniel could feel it much being so very tired.

The next morning Daniel just felt off in everything. He had gotten up with plenty of time to eat breakfast before the new season opener would start, so he did just that.

He poured himself a large bowl of Applejacks, and contemplated the irony of this action.

"Josh is still asleep." He stated to no one in particular. Daniel often talked to himself, and very rarely, narrated everything he was experiencing in his mind.. It usually came out like some kind of bad fan fiction but he didn't mind it much, it's not like it was on purpose.

Daniel, having swallowed the slightly soggy apple cinnamon flavored rings of lord-knows-what. Casually walked over toward the television, and powered it on.

Not bothering to check what time the show would be on at, Daniel merely sat down and began to crack jokes to himself about how bad he felt the new Strawberry Shortcake show was, as he watched the final minutes of an episode before My Little Pony would be on. But before that, there was a set of commercials.

There were four of the exact same advertisement for Gak, but Danny was so nervous-cited for the new episode that he hardly noticed.

Then... Pet Shop? It was seven, wasn't MLP supposed to be on? "Wait, what?" Daniel seemed confused, he pondered what had happened to the ponies for a moment, then he thought of something. "I didn't even bother to verify that what Josh told me was true..." *facepalm*

"Screw that noise!" He stated to one of the cats that was sitting on the coffee table to express his irritation at Joshua.. "I hope you realize.. This means war!" He quoted as he lifted the cat into his arms.

Moments later he was at Josh's door, wielding Ms. Whiskers like a grenade. Swiftly and loudly he rammed through the door and tossed the agitated feline into the air and onto the sleeping grizzly bear that was Josh.

In the milliseconds between being flung from Daniel's hands and her eventual plantation into Joshua's fleshy abdomen, Whiskers rethought about how she could've avoided this situation. Perhaps pushing that one other cat into Daniels line of sight would have resulted in him taking her as ammunition instead of herself.

Or perhaps never being taken from her cozy little home in that box behind the Arby’s back in Texas would’ve prevented this calamity.

Or maybe the very instant Daniel got that suspiciously diabolical smirk across his face I should have turned tail (pun intended) and ran.

Whether she had thought of a better way out of this predicament or not, there was  unfortunately no changing her trajectory.

"Danny!!" Joshua yelled, as he instinctively went for the throat, as Whiskers fled the scene. Refraining from killing him just yet Joshua grabs Daniel, instead of by the neck, by his shirt. "You have five seconds to explain why you just threw my cat at me."

There is no way this will end well.

"Ponies" he stated as if he had no fear. "You lied, so you get the cat. You've thrown her at me enough times."

"What?! I have no idea what you're talking about!"

"What? What do you mean 'What?'? You told me it would start a few minutes ago. Well Josh, I checked, it's not on at all today!"

"What are you talking about?!"

"MLP! What else would I be talking about!?"

"What?!"

He released Daniels shirt, the exact purpose was unknown, either exhaustion, newfound apathy toward Daniel, or just plain confusion of the situation.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. Get out of my room. And go back to bed. Or just go do something. I don’t care."

Daniel counted his blessings as he crossed the door which was soon slammed and locked behind him. This kind of situation is always commonplace in this home, he's just lucky Josh didn't throw anything.

Daniel decided to just go ahead and find out when the next showing was.

...

"Nothing.. All freakin' week, there is just nothing. I don think MLP is on once, save for...  The Princess Promenade. Eww.."

The Dish didn't show anything past next Saturday around noontime, but there was still no My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

It was at that moment that Daniel noticed that there was no new episode next week.

"Well gee, that sucks. I'm going back to bed." he grumbled to himself in a slightly exasperated huff, as he went back to the cloud-like slab in his room.

Later, Daniel was in his room staring at the ceiling, when something caught his eye.

Or rather, the lack of something. On Daniel's bookshelf where his crappy Rainbow Dash plush, and his awesome vinyl Doctor Whoves would be normally standing with their sombreros on, there was a figure of Sgt. Keroro and a BoBo-Bo head shaped mug..

"Awesome." He had examined the mug he had never seen before, then laughed hysterically for a few seconds. Then he stood up to look for his original toys. "Whoever took them, it was very thoughtful of you to give some awesome stuff in return, but that does not excuse your blatant theft." He looked around the house after promptly making some tea using his new mug. It seemed that everyone was asleep still. As he sipped his tea, he wondered about whether or not he should use the phrase everypony when interrogating his family about the missing ponies. But instead, after he finished his tea, he got dressed and fell asleep on the couch.

When he awoke, his family was rushing to get out the door, as they were every Sunday. He no longer had any thoughts about interrogation, all he could do was run out the door with the flow of things. He had completely forgotten the incidents that had taken place this morning until he got to church, where he saw one of his only friends who was a brony, and remembered.

"Hey man," Daniel said putting his hand out for a cool, not so secret, but more of a trademark of theirs hand shake. "I am having the weirdest morning."

"Good morning." said Andrew, as he reached down for nothing more than a normal every day handshake.

"Oh what the heck man?! Not you too! Where is the handshake? Where's the annoying 'Tell me what's happening'?" Daniel got ever so slightly indignant at this annoyingly bland greeting. "We're supposed to be friends."

"Danny I think you have me mixed up with someone else."

"Oh come on man! Don't do this to me, I'm not even having half a good enough morning for this crap!"

"Excuse me" he said as he ignored Daniel completely to go greet other people.

"I'll get him back for this.. I swear.” He muttered to himself.

The rest of the morning was pretty normal. Everyone was too shy to speak up in Sunday school, as usual.

The service started as a condemnation word. Of course That's all Danny heard of it, as he was sound asleep and thanking his lucky stars he was wearing a jacket with a hood so no one could see that. "I'll just pick up the recording afterwards. Usually listen better to that anyway." He thought to himself when he was on the verge of falling unconscious.

Sooner or later, Daniel got home. He decided to go ahead and check Equestria daily because he needed something to cheer him up after the day he was still having. So he began typing. E. Q. U. E. S. Nothing no corrects to take him to the homepage. There was however a google search button for the word "Equestrian" but that was not what he needed at all. He continued typing and ended up googling it because he couldn't remember if it was .net, or .com. No results. Ok wait no, not no results. The only result was an auto correct to Equestrian daily, a newsletter for the utmost elite in horse care products.

"The heck?! Did they take it down?! Did the copyright finally kick into action?!" Daniel searched for Everfree network next. Nada. Zilch. It seems you have reached this page in error. "It seems like you're trying to find a page that doesn't exist, would you like some help with that?" Says a very annoying paperclip. Then the pieces come together.

Daniel then checks YouTube.  Eighty percent of his subscriptions no longer exist. He tries searching for some of the more prominent bronies like Dr. Wolf, Crown Prince, Antony frickin' C, and Brony Alpha for good measure. No results. Nothing. And there was nothing he could do to get them back.

Initial reaction, fall to knees hollering like a dying Soul Calibur character getting hit repeatedly after defeat.

Second reaction, check Netflix for any trace of pony kind. Nothing but previous generations.

Third reaction, check brony Skype friends.. “Well, my friendslist has gone down drastically.”

Fourth reaction, over think situation.

"It must be some crazy government experiment to erase things from people's minds! First ponies.. Then the ability to breathe!" *heavy breathing intensifies* "Nah that's crazy. Could it have been something from the show? Was there a villain in the new episode that somehow managed to erase all memory of the shows existence?!... No, I think it’s still just children's a show about magical talking horses... Oh, no. Was it all a dream?.. I don’t think it could’ve been.. but... No.. I couldn’t have made up the last few years of my life in one night. there has to be some logical explanation for this...” This was probably not true.

Step five, find a solution.

“Hello? is this Hasbro customer service? Okay. It’s nice to meet you Denice. Yes. I would like to speak with.. Duncan Billing and John Frascotti. No, I am not calling to complain about how bad the shows are.. No. I am not calling to leave any death threats.. Okay, I’ll hold.”

Two hours later.

“ What do you mean they’re not accepting any meetings without credentials?! How am I even supposed to show you credentials over the phone?! Are you kidding me?! No one has a fax machine! This is a matter of great importance! Something has happened to my favorite show! I am not a child, for the fifteenth time Denice!”

*Click*

“Well on to Lauren Faust’s twitter!”

One hundred and fifty unread messages and a twitter ban later.

“I didn't even know twitter could ban you. Well that’s depressing..”

Daniel was on the verge of giving up hope.. Ironically of course.

In reality he would not sleep ‘til “deh ponis” were back on the air. Except for the fact that it was becoming quite late. Daniel was used to staying up until the wee hours of the night even when he had stayed up later the preceding night, but Sundays always got to him. Something about waking up early, I think.

*PLOP*

Daniel flopped into bed. Things much more important than sleep like time paradoxes would have to wait until he recharged his batteries.

As he slept, he forgot all of his worries. He slowly drifted through the sea of ponies that was his imagination. He found it increasingly common in the last few weeks for his dreams to be so filled with friendship and magic that he could hardly remember how life really was right up until he woke up.

All-in-all, not a bad dream. In fact, it was probably the best and most vivid pony dream he ever had..
