Angel Glider
Chapter 3
Previous ChapterFrost was relieved when she made it back to her tent. It was raining outside the waterproof tent and she was drenched. Using a towel, she dried herself off. She was very cold, so she grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around herself. She smiled when she saw her husband and sleeping filly. She lay down next to them and hugged them, slowly drifting off to sleep.
The next morning Frost was greeted with the sun shining through the flaps of the tent. She was content in the warm glow. She noticed that Night had left the tent and left Angel in her hooves. She nuzzled the little filly's head and kissed her nose. The filly sighed and nuzzled her mother.
"Mommy?" She asked.
"Yes?" Frost replied.
"Good morning, mommy." Angel said smiling.
"Good morning, my little filly." Frost said, also smiling.
"Is today the day daddy takes me kayaking?" Angel asked with hope written on her face.
"Of course. But first we need to have some breakfast. You can't go kayaking on an empty stomach." Frost said, blowing a raspberry on the filly's stomach.
Angel giggled saying, "Mommy, that tickles!"
The loving mother kissed her filly, then leaving the tent to make some oats for her and her daughter. She almost ran straight into Night, who smiled and hugged her. She hugged back and felt Angel hug their legs.
"Good morning, girls." He said, smiling.
"Good morning, daddy." Angel said with a smile.
"Are you ready to kayak?" He asked, looking into her beautiful icy blue eyes.
"Yes! Yes! I can't wait!" Angel nuzzled her daddy.
"Get a bite to eat from the oats I made." He hoofed Angel and Frost a paper bowl.
After they were finished eating, Angel and her father left, leaving Frost to stay in the camp. Luckily, she was with her best friend Icy Storm, who had a filly who was also going kayaking with her daddy.
Trotting up to Icy, she asked, "Are Flame Wing and the little filly already on their way?"
Icy nodded and said, "Icy Fire was so excited."
"Remember the party when they both knocked over the vase when playing tag?" Frost asked.
"They were so cute looking guilty, but I hated them being sad." Icy replied.
The mares continued talking for a while. The time was 4 PM when there was an earthquake, and the ground started shaking violently. The mares both screamed as a crack appeared in the ground, growing rapidly. Campers were running from the crack as it turned into a large crevice. The ponies all made it safely away as the quake stopped, but then they noticed the destruction in the landscape. Frost gasped as she saw what was in the most destroyed part of the forest.
It was the lake. The lake was flowing off into small canyons that had formed and she saw the kayak building where her filly and husband had gotten their kayaks. She tried to run into the woods to find them, but a ranger would not let them.
"Everypony stay calm! There are ponies out their looking for anypony still out there!" A ranger announced.
Both Frost and Icy were in tears, fearing the worst. They watched as rangers and rescue-ponies came back with ponies, many injured, and they saw a few dead.
<<<8 Hours Later>>>
Night had fallen and neither of the mothers had seen their fillies or significant others. Icy had calmed down by telling herself that they were safe, now trying to comfort Frost, saying, "They will come back. I just know they will."
The authorities in the area had kept everypony in a location that could not be disturbed by the aftershocks. Many ponies were mourning lost ones, waiting for the all clear sign, or waiting for ponies to come back.
Suddenly, there was a voice behind them. "Icy." Icy's husband said, smiling. Icy looked at her husband and ran to him, giving him a hug and nuzzling him, followed by grabbing her foal and holding her close.
Frost smiled a little at seeing Icy had gotten her family back. She looked around, trying to see if Night or Angel had come with.
The stallion looked at Frost and with a sad look, he said, "I'm sorry, Night is... I'm sorry..."
Frost was stricken with grief. Her husband... was... dead? She started crying when she processed that statement. "Wh-What about Angel?"
"She is safe. I immediately brought her to the clinic because it seems her left foreleg is broken, but... I'm sorry."
Frost ran straight to the clinic and saw her filly with a cast on her left foreleg. She ran to her filly and grabbed her, hugging her and nuzzling her.
"Mommy... where's daddy? He fell into this big hole. Mr. Flame took me over here."
"D-daddy... is... he is... he... died." She said to her filly, hugging her tightly.
The filly broke into tears. "I thought p-ponies die only w-when they are old."
"They are supposed to." Frost said, tears pouring from her eyes. "I'm so sorry."
They spent over an hour comforting each other. They and Icy's family flew back to Cloudsdale together. They were all stricken with grief. Night had been an important part of all of their lives.

It was a cloudy day. Quite convenient for the occasion. Frost, her eyes glistening with tears, stared at her husbands body in his coffin. She was greatful that rescue workers had found him. He was alive then, and able to tell her that he loved her and Angel, and that he would wait in the afterlife for her.
"I promise you that I will take care of little Angel. I will always remember you. I hope you lived a fulfilling 32 years of life. You made me so happy for the time we had together. You gave me a place to call home. You gave me a reason to love again, but I have one thing I want to thank you for beyond anything else. You granted my lifelong wish. You let me accomplish my dream. You gave me Angel, a wonderful little filly. The filly I've always wanted. I love you, my husband, my Night Feather." Frost kissed her dead beloved's forehead. Soarin, Night's father, closed the coffin and pushed it gently into the open hole where it would be buried. After it was finished being covered, Soarin looked at the widow.
"I'm so sorry that you lost... Night... We will be there for you if you need any help." He hugged Frost, before going to his sobbing wife, Spitfire.
Frost stayed for about two hours before leaving with her daughter, coming home and going straight to her bed, her filly to her room. She cried herself to sleep.
About thirty minutes later, Angel came to her room, asking her, "Can I please sleep with you? I can't go to sleep."
Frost nodded and let the filly snuggle up against her chest hugging her close. She smiled as she felt the last she had of her husband up against her and kissed her head, before drifting off to sleep.
