Chapter 9

Nearly two hours had passed before the party finally started to die down. The music had switched a while ago to a more pleasant, soothing tune as opposed to the rhythmic thumping that seemed to be in music nowadays. Almost all of the guests had filed out already, a majority of the town needing to get sleep for their respective jobs in the morning, and a good number needing to get their foals to bed. The only ones that stayed later were those closest to Princess Twilight and Trixie Lulamoon, along with a few close neighbors that were congratulating the two on their decision, while greeting the newly adopted Prince himself.

Celestia and Luna watched from the edge of the room as Goku was lead off by the Crusaders to meet another few foals.

"Quite the situation in this town, sister," Luna commented.

Celestia nodded.

"Indeed. To think, all these events just keep resurfacing around those six. First the Elements of Harmony, then Discord, Sombra, Tirek, Starswirl's experiments, and now, of all things, them."

"He does strike quite a resemblance, doesn't he?" Luna asked.

Celestia watched as the young colt was herded by other foals, thinking back to that terrifying day.

"The mane is practically a dead giveaway," Celestia stated with a small smile on her face, "but I don't think we should hold him up to that kind of level. At least, not yet."

"Indeed. Still, could you sense his strength?"

Celestia nodded.

"He's already just as strong as Cadance."

"Not to mention his stare. I think he could sense our powers as well."

"There was definitely something different in his eyes when he saw us, but it certainly wasn't fear."

"No, it certainly wasn't. However, I do fear what would happen should Discord try and educate the colt on his own."

Goku looked around him to see that there were more ponies present that were around the size of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Two of them were around as tall as him, a pale purple filly and a white colt with brown spots across his fur. The three fillies he had gotten to know mere hours ago introduced him to the group of young ponies and they all crowded him seconds later.

"Wow, I can't believe you're a prince!"

"What's with your tail? How can I get mine to do that?"

"Where'd ya get that necklace?"

"Look at his mane!"

They were all asking questions too fast for him to answer, each one barely having enough time to be fully spoken. Two more approached through the crowd, trying to get closer to the colt. Apple Bloom saw them and waved them through the crowd, right up to Goku. They were both fillies, one with a silver mane, tail and coat, while the other one was pink with a two-colored mane, dark pink and white, resting beneath a tiara. They smiled to him as they approached.

"Oh my gosh, he's adorable!" the silver one stated.

"I can't believe that Princess Twilight found such a cute little colt in such a dangerous place!" the other one said, examining Goku.

"We couldn't believe it either!" Apple Bloom responded. "Ta think, he's been growin' up in the Everfree for who knows how long..."

"I think it's weird that he doesn't have any scars or scratches," one pegasus in the crowd commented.

"Hey, Rumble's right!" Apple Bloom stated. "How come ya don't have any scars or somethin' like that?" she asked the colt.

Goku tilted his head slightly, confused by what they meant.

"Wait... why would I have scars?" he asked, genuinely confused.

"Because you said you lived in the Everfree forest your whole life," one filly answered.

Scootaloo chuckled to herself before standing ram-rod straight, and spoke loudly.

"You wanna know why he doesn't have scars?" she asked.

Before anypony could answer, she continued.

"Because of this!" she stated, leveling a finger at the four-starred ball around Goku's neck.

The area went relatively silent as the group of young ponies tried to comprehend the (most likely non-existent) logic behind Scootaloo's answer. Before anypony could object, Goku responded.

"Pretty much, although my Grandpa taught me the martial arts that his old village used to practice until he died, and then I started listening to him through the Dragonball."

"That raises even more questions!" one of the fillies shouted.

"Have you never heard the story of the Seven Dragonballs!?" Scootaloo shouted at the group.

"So, this is a major step for you two," Twilight Velvet said to her daughter. "I mean, he's definitely in need of a home, but to just so suddenly take him in? Are you two sure you're ready for this kind of responsibility?"

"Well... the thing is, Trixie and I have been talking about adopting for a few months now, and we haven't been able to decide on anything. Where to look for a foal, what age group we should adopt from, what kind of pony, if we even decide on a pony in the first place... I honestly think that finding little Goku in the Everfree was a sign. And yes, I know this is a huge decision, and that this will indefinitely take up more time than any assignment or test ever would, and I can't say for sure that I know everything will be smooth sailing from here on out. Sure, my friends would absolutely look after him in a heartbeat, and considering how friendly and open Ponyville is, I should feel as though this would be the safest bet with raising a child... but no matter what kind of numbers I run, all I can think about is when Tirek came and nearly destroyed Equestria, or how Discord could do something horrible by accident, or some other villain could wake up from a thousand-year slumber, again, but I can't let those thoughts dominate my life. You and Dad always told me that Shining was the best turnabout in your lives, and how having a child made everything seem so much better. And... with Spike already having left, this castle feels like it could use a little more love. Besides, I've already gone through several conversations to set up doctor's appointments to set up a medical record, a meeting with Foal Protection Services, and a test with Cheerilee to see where his current level of education would be to get him into school as soon as possible."

Velvet smiled warmly and ran her thumb along Twilight's hand.

"That's my little girl, always planning ahead," she sighed happily. "I'm so proud of you."

"Thanks, mom," Twilight replied, a blush lightening the fur on her face.

The two Twilights opened their arms and shared a hug.

"If only you could convince your brother and foal-sitter to buck-up already," Velvet added.

"Ew! Mom!"
