Chapter 10 – A fight to remember or forget

I woke up a bit early due to Applejack constantly waking me up in the early morning when I was working at her farm. When I checked on my left side, Twilight was again from last time cuddling up next to me again. I sigh knowing that this is going to take a while for me to get out of her vice like grip.

10 minutes later…

Finally I got out. I thought to myself, finally free from Twilights clutches. I look back at my “body double”; the pillow.

"Sorry again." I thought an apology to the pillow.

I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth. When I went inside, I completely forgot that it was back at the farm when Twilight made work there. So I head back in Twilights room and grabbed my clothes from last night. Once I gotten my shoes ready, I opened the door and ran to the farm so I can not only get my payment but also my toothbrush.

20 minutes later…

When I finally made it to the farm I can already smell the breakfast from the other side of the door. I knock on their door and was ready for Applejack to be impressed. The door opens and I see Applejack a bit surprised about my presence.

“David? Why are you here and shouldn’t you be back at Twilights recovering from last night’s incident?”

“Actually I’m all better.” Yes I can hear again. I don’t know how but somehow I got my hearing back without their medicine.

“Wait you can hear again?” Applejack questioned.

“I know right. I thought for sure I was going to be deaf after last night but this morning I can hear 100% clearly.” I got to say I was happy but also curious as to how it came to be, but now is not the time to question it.

I go inside the building and started bruising my teeth. I look in the mirror and my black eye was finally gone. I’m actually glad that throughout the entire week I haven’t looked like I got beaten up even if I did broke two of my fingers.

Maybe it was the meds that were kept me from looking like shit. Once I was done with brushing, I told Applejack that Twilight needed me to clean up the mess that Spike and I made. I also told her that another reason why I came was because I came to collect the bits I worked on her farm. I guess she must have thought that the explosion might have made me forget.

“Sorry it’s going to take more than an explosion to give me brain damage.” I left the farm once I got my bits.
About half away from the farm to the town, I suddenly realized something.

“Why should I clean the mess? Spike messed up the experiment, why should I clean up for someone’s mistake?” I questioned myself. I then looked back to the farm. If I go back, Applejacks going to make me work on her farm again. If I go back to the town, Twilights going to make me fix the lab for something that wasn’t my fault.
…
….

“Screw that I’m hiding out.” I kept walking to the town but when I got to the bridge crossing Ponyvillle, I just went around the river to get to the hill that I spawn from. No way I was going to do anything so as of now this is my alone time and there is no way anyone’s going to ruin it. Once I got to the tree, I laid there and just drifted off to sleep.

ZZzzzz….

ZZZzzzzzzz…

Something was blocking the ray from the sun. Whoever it was, there doing something right.

“Hey wake up.” Whatever said that, poke my stomach hard almost felt like someone punched me. When I woke up it was the Rainbow one.

“Hey Barfy how’s it going?” I laughed at the reminder that she threw up at that party. Good stuff. She was not happy about what I called her, look like she was about ready to just punch me.

“Listen Twilight sent me to find you. She said she was worried that you were away for too long.” She told me.

“Well you found me skittles. So tell her I’m here if she needs me.” I told her without a care in the world.

“By then we’ll just find another hiding spot.”

“That’s what you think.” After she said that, she bites down my shirt collar with her teeth and just drags me to Twilights house.

“Not again.” I complained.

It wasn’t easy trying to find my balance but I was able to get my shirt and hoodie off so that she can stop dragging me. She then flew a bit farther now that my body wasn't attached to my clothes. When she turned around, she saw me just leaning on the tree again.

“Look can we just forget about this and call it a day. I’ll go back once I know the lab in Twilights home is done.” Dash looks super pissed when she knew that I wasn’t going anywhere. But for whatever reason she hasn’t lost her cool.

“Look I promised Twilight I bring you back and I also promised her that I should try to be friends with you.” She said through gritted teeth.

“Well then your screwed.” I told her while I stood up.

“I’m not going anywhere…” I then went closer to her face to face considering she was flying at my level. “And why would I be friends with the likes of you…?”

What I said next was probably not the best idea at the time.

“Rainbow Trash.” I then boped her nose as I finished my sentence. It’s like what I said, why should I have friends in the first place.

I then walked back to the tree to continue my nap.

" Duck! "
“What?”
"DUCK DAMN IT!"

I did what the voice said and as soon as I did a huge rock went pass me and hit the tree. I turned around but Rainbow Dash wasn’t there. I looked around me to see if I can find her but she wasn’t anywhere to be…

"Dodge left, right duck and block!"

I did what Jack told me to do and when I did, something was zooming pass me when I was dodging whatever was attacking me. That is until when I cross my arms to block, Rainbow dash kicked dead center of my arms with unimaginable speed and strength. I wasn’t just scared about what’s going to happen to me but how I was able to dodge her attacks. However when I blocked her attack, I felt a bone or two cracked.

“Gahh Shit!” I wailed in pain.

“Jesus if she had actually hit me from the beginning I wouldn’t be conscious.” I thought to myself.

"I can’t concentrate about my pain right now I have to be worried about when her next plan is."

I asked Jack if he can find where she was.

"What do you think I am? A radar?"
“Then how did you know when she was going to attack?”
"Shit if I know. I just… DUCK! " He warned me before he can finish his sentence.

I did what he said and then felt a gust of wind go pass me. Eventually Jack kept warning me on how to dodge Rainbows attack. I knew that in some point I can’t keep dodging forever that is until he told me to block.

But I can’t! My arms must’ve broken the last time she hit me.
"Just do it!"

I didn’t want to believe myself or what Jack says but his warnings got me this far so why not. I cup my hands in front of me to block. When I blocked the attack, my foot left a skid mark on the ground but I was able to stop Rainbow from kicking me.

“What the actually hell?!” I jumped back so I can put much distance away from this freak.

“I’ve had just about enough about you. I don’t’ see why Twilight or Applejack or anypony for that matter, shouldn’t have run you out of ponyville!” Rainbow yelled at me. She kept going on and on that from the moment I came to ponyville I’ve been acting like a lunatic. From being the happiest guy from pinkies party, from harming one of her friends to just being unpleasant. You know what if she’s going to be a bitch about this I might as well tell her how I feel about her and this place.

“I don’t care if you hate. I wouldn’t be surprised if you did try to hit me. But you know what? I hate you too!Everything about you just rubs me the wrong way!” I complained. I then kept ranting on about how ponyville was the worst place to live and that her friends are the weirdest bunch I’ve ever come to known.

“And you want to know something else? Pinkies parties are stupid and retarded!” I then finished my rant.
Rainbow held her head low almost as if I struck a nerve.

“Take. It. Back.” I heard her say with no emotion from those three words.

“Make. Me.” I responded.

Shit. Umm… right, duck, block… I don’t know from this point. You’re on your own.
"What?!"

As if I pissed off some God, I did what Jack told me but after that I kept getting randomly hits from seemingly out of nowhere. Every time some gust of wind told me that I was lucky to move but then later on whenever I got hit, I felt as if someone fired a bullet from the part of my body that was taking the punishment.

Then she hit my chest and pushed me back onto the tree. My chest felt as if I lost all the air that was there from the beginning. I didn’t think Dash was this strong and fast from the beginning, shit now I really was in trouble.

"David run! I can only keep you alive from this point forward but if you don’t find Twilight and fast then there’s no telling what Dash is going to do." Axel told me.
"Wait how are you keeping me alive?"
"Long story short, that green stone from Twilights? Yeah it gave us powers."
"What?!"

Before long I panic and I side stepped from the left. For a brief moment I saw Dash nearly break the surface of the tree. I think it safe to assume that I should go back to Twilights.

“Shit!” I ran down the hill as fast as my legs can carry but that only meant that Rainbow can have an easy target when she’s flying. I was scared without a doubt in my mind because I never run from a fight. However this is a good reason to run because I didn’t want to die especially young.

“Shit,shitshitshitshit…” I then felt something hit my back which made me fall to the ground and roll down the hill. Once the world stopped spinning, I rolled to my right. As soon as I did, something landed on that area which debris flew on my way. When the dust settled in the small crater was Dash.

"You know what? Screw this! If I’m going to die, I’m going out like a boss."
"David what are you…"

I didn’t give a thought as to how I was able to defeat Dash all I knew was I couldn’t run from this fight. I ran to her direction and was ready to punt the little shit. I kicked only the dirt only to realize she dodged it. I lost balance but regained it a little. I looked around me to see if she was anywhere since she just disappeared.

Out of nowhere, Jack came back. "Duck!"
"Perfect."

I jumped and as soon as I did Dash tackled my stomach with the force of what felt like a cannonball. I then proceed to punch Dash on whatever I was hitting regardless of the pain that was going through my body. I then heard something crack when I hit her one last time and then we both started tumbling to the ground hard. While I was trying to get up, I heard Dash howling in pain.

“Celestia Dammit my wings.”

"I must have broken her wings when she was tacking me." I thought to myself. Good now she won’t keep disappearing to the sky or have the speed advantage.

“Ha! So much for hit and running, now I can take you on fair ground.” I then ran to her and was ready to kick her again. Like last time, she dodged it but she counter by side kicking my open leg, which made me fall back. Dash came on top of me then punches me multiple times on my face but I was able to get her off of me considering how small and light she was. But still for a pony so small she can punch well.

I spat out the blood that was filling my mouth. When I did I saw a tooth fall too. Now this was something I was going to enjoy.

“You know I thought this was going to be bad day for me but now…” I swipe the blood off my mouth. “This is going to be a lot fun then I thought.”
“You’re going down.” She said without even panting even though the pain.
“But can you keep up with me?” I said while cracking my hands ready to take her on.
“That’s my line.” She said angerly.
“Looks like your too slow for comebacks, barfy.” I insulted.

She ran towards me so I ran towards her ready to end this.
“RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” we both screamed out our battle cry.

30 minutes later…

“Where’s Rainbow? She should have found him by now.” Twilight was worried along with Applejack, Pinkie, Rarity, and Fluttershy. Not too long before, Twilight was waiting for Dash to come back to her library along with David in tow. However two minutes ago, Pinkie along with the others were behind her outside Twilights door.

“Pinkie have you seen…” Before Twilight can finish her sentence Pinkie grabbed Twilight by the hoof and told her there was no time.

“Pinkie what’s going on?” Twilight question a bit confuse as to why Pinkie was acting more strange than usual. That is until Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity all told her that one of Pinkie’s ‘pinkie sense’ was a doozy. Once Twilight heard about this, she understood why Pinkie was acting weird. Not too far ahead, all five of them crossed the bridge and were trying to catch up to Pinkie.

Ahead of them, they found out why Dash and David were gone. Right in front of them, they saw both David and Dash all beaten and bloodied almost as if they were fighting off a pack of timber wolves.

David was kneeling down, trying to keep not just his balance but also his conscious due to blood coming from behind his head. Around David’s body there were a couple of bruises and bite marks. Dash was worse for wear too due to one of her wings twisted in manner that no Pegasus wing should be bent. It wasn’t just her wings; she had a black eye on her right, there were also a few bruised spots that around her sides and there was also a bloody nose. Needless to say, they were surprised as to how these two were still standing for whatever they were fighting about.

Before long, David stood with what little strength he had left and started running toward Dash while holding his sides. Before any of them could intervene, David was able to finish the fight by punting Dash to the tree. With colliding to the tree, Dash closed her eyes knowing that she was spent and she gave it her all but it wasn’t enough.

“Heh you’re going to have to try better than that to kill me.” He whispered. After he had finished he fell back knowing that all it took for him to fall into the unconscious mindscape was to put that one kick to end it.

David’s POV...

Darkness. That’s basically what I see around me. I don’t know how long I’ve been unconscious but I want to say a week, I think. For the majority of my time I have done nothing but float around in this place. I tired making dreams but it only ends with me having to go through memories of my past. I already saw myself getting my ass kick by Jason three to five times.

"Man the only reason he keeps turning my punches around was because he took karate lessons." The thought echoed into the nothingness.

“Damn for a pony, she’s actually not that bad.” I talked to myself.

"She must have taken karate, possibly a black belt." I thought due to remembering that the last few times I tried fighting Jason he was a black belt at the time. And each time I lost to him over and over again.

“Hmmm?” I looked around and saw the darkness turning light again. “Great I’m remembering something.”
Before long, around me was the same place Dash and I fought. I see myself looking Dash at her from a far distance with all the bruises I got from her.

“Well at least I remember the good part of the fight.” However something was off. Usually this was the part where I fainted due to blood loss. But this memory is still going.

“Now I can end this.” My memory-self said then kneeled down and pulled my pant legs to reveal… the knife.

“Wait this isn’t right. Sure Dash is annoying but not enough to kill to that extent.” That’s when my memory –self limped closer to her direction.

“Stop.” That was all I can say to the memory only for it to continue towards her. What frighten me the most was when I floated to my memory-self, I saw the face and it had; a wicked smile across its face.

“Hey stop this isn’t funny anymore. She’s done for so just stop it already.” I talked to the memory thinking it might…
“Why stop? She reminds me way too much like HIM.” That memory…no… that thing answered back. Before long he was looking down on Dash twirling the knife.

“Stop it right now!” I tried tackling him but only for me to move through him. Before long, he held the knife up ready to end it.

"DIE!" He yelled.

“NOOO!!!”

I opened my eyes wide looking around me rapidly. Around me was a something that reminded me of a hospital. The walls were blue, there was a large window that looked over a fountain and lastly where was the beeping sound coming from?

I looked on my left side and as it turns out there was a heart monitor and an IV tube connecting to my wrist. I notice that my left eye was covered when I saw the heart monitor screen. I looked down and saw that I was wearing just boxers the rest of me was covered like a mummy. Before I can head to the bathroom to see, a pony with a nurse cap.

“Oh my your awake.” She said. You know I’ve started to notice the fact this place has a few too many female to male ratio in this village. Seriously other than the kids from the arcade, the only male stallions I’ve seen was Big Mac and a few others that were with other mares which I thought were in a relationship. But I won’t bother with that.

“So what’s happening?” I asked with a slight chuckle.

Apparently she told me everything from the beginning that Twilight and her other friends dragged me and Dash to the hospital to save us from bleeding out. Dash had a few injuries’ that needed covering but for me, I needed surgery due to one of my ribs having a broken bone nearly rapturing my insides.

“Well that doesn’t sound too bad. That’s what ribcages are for; nothing special. ” I then ask her if she can help open the bandage that was wrapped on my left eye. She didn’t want to due to how badly injured before but after a few convincing agreements, she agreed to unwrap only the left.

When she did she gasped making me worried. Did Dash really mess up my face that badly?

“Your eye it’s fully healed.” Once she said that, I remembered Axel telling me that Green stone gave me powers. Who’s to say that one power was healing?

I swiped the scissors the nurse used and ran for the bathroom. Once inside, I barricaded the door and was ready to cut away. After I have gotten all the bandages gone, I looked in the mirror and saw that I looked ok. While there were a few light darkened bruises here and there, they don’t hurt as much as they should. The bite marks were gone, my lost rib it somehow was there, and lastly the tooth dash broke it grew back as well.

"Thank you Axel." But when I thank him there was no response. In fact Jack wasn’t saying anything. Are they finally gone? Whatever I think I should just get out of here and just head back to Twilights.

I opened the door and saw that a male pony with a white coat was a doctor and the nurse was beside him.

“So can I leave or what?” I asked. Like all hospitals I had to be dragged out in a wheel chair. I asked how much the surgery was going to cost me, but they said that Twilight was paying my medical bills and that she helped filled out the paperwork with the data she got from me the other day. I asked the doctor how long did Dash and I stay in this hospital and he replied with 3 days. Needless to say that I was surprised but am I’m glad things worked out. Once I got to the front desk I sign my release forms and left.

I kind of feel bad for Dash I mean sure this place is annoyingly colorful and cheery but aside from that this place isn’t half bad. Great my sins have finally caught up to me and now their weighing me down.

“God damn it.” I walked to the Market to see if I can buy some flowers for Dash back at the hospital. I may be a cold hearted person but somehow for these ponies I feel as though if I did wrong one of them, then it leaves a bad taste in me. So I ran to the market district and when I got to a vendor that sold flowers, I picked the ones that felt right to buy. However when I dug to my pockets I have no bits. That’s when I realized something.

“GOD DAMMIT! I forgot hospitals take your stuff for safety measures.” I apologies to the vendor for wasting her time on me.

“Wait.” The vendor asked me. I turn around to see her.

“Who were you buying these flowers for?” She asked. I told her it was for Dash and she walk up to me with the flowers. She said that she’s been meaning to send these to her when she heard Dash was hurt. I took the flowers and thanked her but I didn’t know her name.

“Oh and by the way it’s Rose if you’re wondering. Tell her it was from me.” I thanked her for the gift and that I’ll come back to pay her back. I walked back to the hospital to drop off the gift but when I got inside all five including Twilight were at the front desk. They were surprised I was still standing after the beat down from Dash.

They all gather around and asked me how I was still standing. Their voices were colliding with their questions so much I could barely hear them. I told them I’ll answer them all later right after I get my stuff and give the flowers to Dash. I gave them to a nurse who knew where Dash’s room and ask the front desk if they can give back my stuff.

“215 bits was what you were carrying when you came in…”

I nodded but when I looked back, AJ was looking at me knowing that she paid me far less then what I got.

“Oh no…” I can feel my sins crawling on my back. But I’ll deal with them later.

“And two articles of clothing…” I think he was talking about my t-shirt and red hoodie. Oh man Dash ruined it. There was a hole in between the collar and the front t shirt. Well I guess I can wear the hoodie as a shirt but it’s going to suck.

“And lastly one knife.” Now that, I really do miss. Not because it’s sweet but if I lost it, grandpa would want my head on a pike if I lost it. Once I got all my items back, I turn around and told Twilight I’m heading to the coffee shop in the market district. However she wasn’t looking at me but at my pocket that was concealing the knife. Great.

“You’re probably thinking why I have it. Well it’s cool to my standards…” I answered. She still looks at my pockets.

“And also if I did wanted to us it during my fight with Dash…” before I could answer, I spoke with no with motion.

“she would be dead right where she stood.” All the girls just looked at me with frighten looks in there face.

“Heh just kidding I wouldn’t actually do that. Plus this is just for showing off.” They finally loosen their breaths.

“Whelp I’m heading off. Hey Twilight do you want anything from the market? I’m buying.” Twilight did wanted something, so I made a reminder of the list she told me. Once I was at the door, I stopped and looked back.

“Don’t worry; I’ll answer whatever you girls ask. And this time honestly I promised.” This time I meant it. If I didn’t tell them, I lose their trust and then I have nowhere to live. I really do need to work for it, if I don’t, than one wrong move could end my life.
