They Came from the Everfree

Good Morning

Looking to my side, I find Elliot still crashed out. He seems to be barely asleep at all at this point...

...Perfect...

I need to find something heavy, I probably have something heavy.

I quietly grab my bag on the floor and rummage through it's contents, laying many of them on the floor.

It's so full I won't even bother to write out what's inside.

But, after a while, I do find something suitable. A copy of the holy bible that I keep around.

I slowly remove the covers and tip-toe over to his couch. Overall, it takes at least a minute to move that few yards. But it all plays out well worth it...

I raise it high above my head, ready to strike, before hearing some noise. It came from the stairs, freezing me in my tracks.

I see Purple as frozen as I am, making eye contact at the awkward situation.

I sit there for a good 30 seconds, it still feels weird looking at these things. It must be the eyes. They have this creepy.... Glare or something... I don't know really.

Welp, enough thinking.

I slap the bible down on his undershirt, right on the chest. Giving him a pressing sensation, relatable to CPR. Something we used to do in the barracks, hitting each other in the chest. It hurts, really!

He folds like a hospital bed, coughing and swearing in dazed confusion.

"Wake up, snowflake." I casually speak, smacking his cheek.

"I'm going to eat your throat out!" He threatens.

"Aw, aren't you going to take me to dinner first?" I tease.

He thinks a moment.

"Fuck you." Is all he seems to come up with... Bummer.

I laugh to myself, looking back to the stairs. She's still sitting there with a neutral expression. At this point, it's really starting to freak me the hell out.

"Uh, you coming down, or do you want some pop-corn?" I ask.

"W-oh, sorry. I didn't realize I was staring." She stammers, finishing the descent down the stairs.

"Right..." I look over to Elliot, sharing him a confused glance.

She moves to the right, heading straight for the kitchen. That can only mean one thing....

Alien breakfast... Cool. Wait, this might be gross. What if they eat weird bugs and shit? Or some sort of slimy fruit?

On the other hand, that sounds alot better than the mess hall's chow. Sign me up.

"So, what exactly do you all eat?" I ask.

"All of us? Well, alot. Can you narrow it down?" She responds.

"Hmmm... Breakfast or main course. The common stuff." I answer.

"Well, that's still quite a bit. Bread, hay, cheese, eggs, most fruit, all vegetables, pancakes or waffles, there's alot to it." She clarifies.

Hmmm, no alien brain on that list. That's a good sign.

"So I can't watch Elliot eat anything that nasty, darn shame." I joke.

"I'll eat a roach if you do it first." He casually responds.

Not quite sure if I should take that as a joke. That actually is pretty fucked up.

"Right, so. Purple. What are the plans for today?" I ask.

"Hm? Oh, plans for you? I.... Honestly am not sure. Things like this almost never happen. You're the first case of intelligent life from unknown origin I've ever seen. I might just keep you in here until the city dies back down after the scene we caused. I definitely want to know alot more about your species." She goes on, grabbing a few bags on unknown substance and placing them on the countertop.

I look at Elliot and roll my eyes, his eyes widen as he nods slowly in agreement.

"So when do we get to start learning about what life is like here?"

"Whenever you start asking?" She responds, clearly making Elliot look dumb for asking. Possibly not on purpose, though.

"Oh, well, I got a big one. Where can I get some meat? I'm dying, here!" He laughs.

Again, she freezes, with that neutral expression that pisses me off so much.

"Meat? As in animal? For food?" She asks, something odd about her tone.

"No, I'm building a castle made out of dead animals." He pauses. "Sorry, Grayson's sarcasm gets contagious. Yeah, food." He apologizes.

She stays quiet for a while, slowly setting down the bag of what appeared to be sugar or flour. She slowly and cautiously approached us, as if ready to bolt if either of us moved. Her ears splayed back, until she stopped about a half meter from Elliot.

"Could you, open your mouth wide please?" She asks, tilting her head.

He gets a look of surprise, turning to me, with a hidden grin.

I know exactly what he was thinking. 'Dirty Pyle' I mouthed to him.

He shot back a bit, before looking back to Purple, rolling his eyes. He complied, letting his jaw drop.

Purple stared for a few seconds, before seeming to inflate a little. As if she grew a few inches. It took me a moment to realize her fur was moving. She got all... Poofy. And the wings on her back ruffled up a little bit as she took a slow but steady pace backwards.

Elliot shut his mouth, and looked at her like she was the dumbest thing on Earth.

"My teeth don't look THAT bad, I brush my teeth twice a day! I mean, I didn't last night, but I don't have gum disease yet!" He defensively speaks.

"You're... Predators. I forgot about this, you mentioned you were omnivorous." She speaks, in a tone sounding like we had just insulted her closest relative.

I instinctively reach for my sidearm, realizing I'm still in shorts, and have no weapon to stop a freak show unless it gives me time to reach for it about a meter behind me and load a magazine.

"Well, that's not the word I'd use. Hunters kill animals with guns like ours. So I don't actually hunt animals myself. Predator also sounds really, feral. The closest to hunting I do is helping Grayson shoot. That's kinda the job." He points at me, seemingly oblivious to the change in mood.

She snaps her head to me like a lion smelling prey. It actually sends me back a step.

"You're dangerous." She answers, nonchalantly.

"Well, it's in the job description. We signed up to be dangerous. Typically that's what soldiers are, dangerous." I defend, taking another step back.

"I don't think I can protect you for much longer. If any word of this gets out, you could be in bad shape." She states, her tone getting less venomous.

"What did we do? You knew we ate meat, didn't you?" Elliot asks, slightly panicked.

"You're technically predators, they can't help but imagine you attacking anypony because they trusted you. " She speaks.

"We don't eat sentient beings, that's creepy shit!" I defend.

"I shouldn't go on your word." She continues.

"But you let us sleep here, how come we didn't kill anything if you let us stay here? You could pull that card." Elliot asks.

She thinks for a moment.

"I think I have a spell to answer this problem. Depending on what it proves, I may be able to help you. Or at worst, arrest you two." She explains, almost as a threat.

I could shoot someone right about now.

Dark Blue eyes blinked in the darkness, pondering what they had just witnessed.

Such a dream was completely bizarre, such strange creatures. And it was so... Real. With so much detail. Whatever she had just witnessed had to have been more than a dream.

She had to have just awoken something from a complete memory.
