What decision was I supposed to make? It was to either face possible execution, or delay it by talking about what I can. It's not like I had a reasonable choice.

"So, you asked about our history? How far back do you want to go?" I ask her.

"As far back as you can go, I want to know everything." She explains, floating a quill and old-fashioned scroll next to her.

I look to Elliot, my eyes widening. He returns the gaze.

"Alright, look, this might take alot more time than I think you expect." I explain.

"I have all the time in the world, please continue." She speaks, on the opposing couch, moved to face us.

"Fine, I'll try to avoid detail too deep. So, starting us off, we have earliest forming human society. Where the first tribes of man across Earth banded together for bigger things. Around this age, pyramids, water canals, and large camps were built. At times, these tribes would go to war, often over land, including it's resources." I continue the story, eventually grazing religion, which she showed tremendous interest in. I changed the subject to the great crusades, at which I had to explain the many religions of Earth. This proved difficult.

"And now, it's the 'dark age', a time at which a great disease called the Bubonic Plague spread to about fifty million people in just over ten years. This disease was nicknamed the 'Black death', since one symptom besides coughing, fatigue, and fever, was black spots on the skin which oozed fluid. This killed all of it's hosts." I explain.

"It was spread by rats, but strangely vanished after the ten years was over. Many people believed we avoided each other luckily enough to stop it, others think we grew immune, and even belief that it killed anyone who wasn't naturally immune. Either way, it hasn't been seen for one thousand years." Elliot adds.

Purple nods, and scribbles on the paper, which has to be at least the fifty-ith paper she's removed. It's honestly shocking to watch her write without looking.

"This begins the Renaissance..." I continue the story, picking up speed, eager to finish the torturing endeavor of the past.

At some point, Elliot fell asleep to my rambling. He's now laying half-sideways on the arm of the couch.

"So, after this man was assassinated, by Serbian nationalists. Soon after this, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, to which Russia assisted Austria, to which Germany declared war on Russia. Knowing that France would try to stop Germany, it decided to attack France on one side and Russia on the other. 'A war on both fronts' it is called." This is where she started to show uneasiness. Especially as I explained the effects of gas bombs such as mustard gas. It was sort of funny to watch her cringe, so I was sure to include detail there.

World war two was next, which was a huge pain as she suddenly had ninety-two million questions to ask me about it. Mainly about what weapons we were using, and what morals were who's. This extended a ten minute talk to a half hour discussion.

Next came my favorite, explaining the middle-eastern conflict. I explained everything from the September terrorist attack, to the retaliation, to the conspiracy, to Syrian rebels. And next, I had to explain the tough part... The current war.

"So, me and Elliot are snipers of 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta. One of the most elite teams in the United States Army. We currently are involved in this next part, so I'll try to explain our situation as in-depth as I can." I take a deep breath.

"Now, after most of the Middle East was being used for oil, our troops pushed into the next territory, Syria. We were going to step in and assist the rebels with heavy equipment and bodies. This process actually began, but Saudi Arabia was in a panic, believing that we would raid them next. So they organized a tremendous military force and assaulted the military on the border. They formed an agreement with the Syrian government and fought against us. As this process succeeded greatly, other countries stepped in to help them. Yemen, Egypt, Oman, Jordan. They eventually named themselves the M.E.C., which stands for the Middle-East Coalition. A force comprised of most of the Middle-East designed to destroy American occupation in all countries. That's where we come in. We're dropped into hot zones by aircraft about a mile from the action. Where we set up a shooting position and kill anyone not in a NATO uniform." I explain.

"How is your country surviving such an onslaught? You sound very outnumbered!" Purple asks.

"Oh, almost forgot. Our neighbors fought back with us. We partnered with the UK, Canada, and Mexico to fight back, as long as they get to keep some land and oil after the war clears. Germany was in the process of agreeing when we got here. I wonder if we're still winning." I gaze at the floor.

Purple senses my uneasiness.

"I see, you have a very.... Interesting history. Violent as it is. You've been through alot. But, if you're still up to answering, have you ever had an era of peace on your planet?" She asks skeptically.

"Hm, never world-wide, no. There are always wars on Earth. Even if they are just small conflicts." I answer, feeling guilty of my species suddenly.

"I see, well I'll be sure to show my notes to Celestia when we see her. But first I must ask, would you please name some of your territories again?" She asks me.

"Countries? Well, Belgium, Spain, France, Saudi-Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Germany, Russia, Braz-" I begin.

"As I expected, you seem to have somehow come from a mirror-world." She explains.

"Mirror world? The hell is a mirror world?" I ask.

"Most of the places you named have similar names here, and have similar ponies occupying them. Also, our history clicks together in several places. Your planet seems to be modeled like ours is." She continues.

"I don't see how that's possible." I skeptically answer.

"Well, we have Saddle-Arabia, Manehattan, Las Pegasus, Crystal Mountain, Canterlot, White Tail Woods, Ponyville. Plus swords, cannons, spears, bows, crossbows, clothing designs, and a few other things that I can't quite remember yet..." She explains.

That's impossible, those are exactly like Earth, most of them. They just have cheesy-ass name changes. I need to find a book on this planet's history. Oh yeah, this place doubles as a library. Neat.

"That does sound alot like home. Speaking of which, when can we work on getting back? No offense to your... Wonderful hospitality..." I sarcastically remark. "But I'd like to leave this place as soon as possible." I finish.

"We'll be leaving in a few days. I'd like to study you closely for a while to make sure I know as much as possible before we bring you to Canterlot." She answers.

"Good, I'll tell Elliot." I smile.

Getting up, I bring myself back to my equipment on the floor, and squat down to pick up my helmet, and weapon magazine. Turning around, I walk back up to Elliot, holding the two out, and smash them together. Which makes a loud, echoing, metallic noise.

He leaps upwards and rolls onto the floor, scurrying away a few feet before hearing my laughing.

"You're a complete asshole!" He yells at me.

"Don't blame me, it's a condition!" I joke.

"You're a condition!" He answers.

...Ouch.

"Well, we're not going to be out of here for a few days. So just a heads up, you'll be sleeping here for a little while longer. She wants to continue research. Much of which was done today, no thanks to you." I explain.

"Hey, I was tired, and you were boring! What am I supposed to do?" He whines.

"You could always answer something yourself." I quip.

"I did! I did a bunch of times!" He exaggerates.

"About three times, but that's besides the point, mute. There's still a whole afternoon, and I'm going to get bored, and when I got bored, you get hurt. That's how I work." I joke.

"That's how every thorn-in-the-ass works. Twilight, what can we do to pass the time until then?" Elliot asks.

"Oh? I didn't really think that through. Uh, I'd rather spare the biological research till tomorrow, when we have time to fit it all into one day. I could introduce you to some of my closest friends. You already met Rainbow." She explains.

"The Blue one that hates me?" He asks.

"Uh... Right. She can be a little pushy with new ponies. Especially if she doesn't trust them." Purple defends.

"Well, if you're bringing her back just please make sure she isn't sitting near anything sharp, or heavy." I joke.

Purple smirks a little, nodding her head.

"I'll do my best. I don't want to leave you all alone, not yet. But if somepony comes by, I'll ask them to get everypony else here as soon as possible." She smiles.

Yep, still creepy. Maybe it's the face? Never seen a face that shape smile before.

Or talk...

"Alright, until then I suppose we can dig through some of these books you have around?" I ask.

"Yeah, I could go for something to read." Elliot nods.

"Sure, just please be careful with them, and set them back in the same order. They're very difficult to re-organize." Purple explains.

"I will. Elliot?" I ask.

"Oh, sure. I won't damage anything." He promises.

Purple nods and starts walking off.

Before Elliot's stomach barked back.

She stops and turns around slowly.

"Right, about that..." She says.

Author's Note

Battlefield reference there, did you catch that? Did it make you really sore? Don't worry, I have just the thing before you flame my comments and mail!

Also, for you deeper fans who really read the after page. The creator's idea was to model this on the Korean War. I think it still says "Russia" in one of the early chapters even! But, since I typed "M24" in too many times, I can't go back and change it. So I decided to use a fictional war. When I couldn't think up a name for this Middle-Eastern force, I used my favorite early-childhood game as a model. Battlefield players unite!
