Chapter one: New colt in town
SPIKE
"Hey Twilight" Spike said "Have you heard? There's a new pony who just moved in, apparently he's from the crystal empire."
"Hmm" Twilight said engrossed in a new book given to her by Celestia.
"Um... Pinkie is throwing a party for him if you want to come."
The only answer was another "hmm."
"I'm uh going to greet him now." He said as he walked away, knowing that it would take a disaster to get her out of a good book. Walking out of the castle he sighed "No matter how big the castle I would give it away for the good ol library." It's nice that they added those memory crystals and the personal stuff in each room but it just needs... something else." Outside he saw the pony who had moved into town, he was large, gray, had a rather abstract cutie mark, and as the trademark of the Crystal Empire, crystal. He followed his gaze up to the castle, staring almost longingly. "Mister? Spike said "how are you doing?" The colt turned around suddenly,almost jumping at spike's voice
"Err just looking around this nice little village, how are you doing?"
Replying I said "Fine. "But I never heard what's your name?"
"My name?" Why it's umm... Rei... yes Rei." He said rather jumbly.
"Your memory still fogged up a little Rei?" Spike said
"Yes" He replied rather quickly.
"Okay, Nice to meet you, well i'll be going now see you soon!" Walking away spike thought "what a strange horse." As he walked around looking for Rainbow Dash to tell him the news.
ZOMBRA
I HATE that pink pony. Not five steps after I walk into town she runs up to me yelps and runs away, thinking my cover was blown already I prepared to teleport away and would've if a white pony hadn't said
"geez... Pinkie has got to stop doing that, one of these days she's going to give a some poor pony a heart attack." From Pinkie's reaction you're new here am i correct?"
I quickly stopped preparing the spell and "yes."
Explaining, she said "does that to everyone, personally I think a much better way to greet someone is to take them to the spa, my treat."
Warily I said "Thanks, but could you reschedule it for later."
"Of course dearie how about in the afternoon, you must be exhausted from your long trip."
"Thank you I said as I walked away, finally someone with some decency around here instead of scaring the living daylights out of me, plus who was I to reject a nice long soak in a spa, I haven't had one ever since I was dethroned. Ah it is good to have someone who respects others. Well I guess I might as well take a look around town. Turning my head all of a sudden I see this huge castle, but not a friendship good guy castle i'm talking dark, fortress-like, and should have dark clouds over it castle. It was like someone had custom made it for me, and it was glorious.
"Mister" a voice called, I turned around and it took all the willpower to not disentegrate the owner of the voice. It was the dragon, the very same that took the crystal heart and caused this. Then I realized he asked me a question about what I was doing. I answered his questions and watched him leave, one day I will blow up that dragon, and I will be laughing when I do it. I stared at the castle wondering "what villain lives here?" Before walking away to look around the town some more.
APPLEJACK
"Apples,apples get your sweet apple acre apples just one bit a apple!" Sighing she sat down, business was slow today and she was tired after bucking so many apple trees. Then a colt who fit Pinkie's description of the newcomer was walking by "Hey" I said calling to him "Free apple for the newcomer"
"Thank you" he said "so you got the memo already huh, word traveled fast. "Why the apple?"
I answered "A token of friendship, What? Do you not like apples?" To answer he bit into it and started chewing.
"Just wondering" He said. Then a thundercloud popped up over him and started raining on him. "What in the blazes? Shouldn't the weather be controlled by a Pegasus here?" At first a chuckle which then erupted a laugh erupted from the rain cloud. "Ah" he said before casting a spell to make the cloud open up, revealing the culprit, Rainbow Dash. Unprepared she fell to the earth hitting her head and dazing her. "Now this is a gift i'd like to return he said moving the rain cloud above her head dousing her with water he laughed and i'd joined in, it wasn't every day when someone gives Rainbow Dash her just desserts for her pranks.
"Hey!" It's not that funny." Rainbow said.
With a quick tounge he said "You seemed to be laughing your head off when the joke was on me."
"True" he said and then started laughing too.
"So," I said. "You've got a magic cutie mark erm... Rei I believe."
"Yes" he said "I was forced to practice magic during Zombra's rule and I picked it up very well." Kept me alive throughout the years. As he started to walk away he said "There's a gift someone gave me that I haven't used yet so I'm going to get it, thanks for the apple."

Ah it was nice to meet an educated pony for once, at least versed in the way of culture and etiquette. As I walked up to the spa she saw me and waved, ah relaxation.
"So what would you like for your massages dearie?" Said the pony, or Rarity as she told me.
"I'll take the extra strength, hot stone deep tissue massage." I said.
She replied "Dearie I'm not sure you'll want that it is a bit... extreme."
I shrugged "I'll be fine you go order your massage, we'll meet up in the hot tub after the massages."
All of a sudden a Pegasus with biceps that put strongmen to shame but surprisingly tiny wings broke through the wall, screaming "YEAH" and urging me to what looked like the extra strength, hot stone deep tissue massage, hopefully it will be strong enough to get through a thousand years of back pain.
After the massage I walked to the hot tub and dipped in. "Soooo how was the massage you don't look like your back has been broken." She said.
"When you haven't had a massage in a thousand years you need something a bit tougher to get through the crust." The name is Rei by the way."
" So what do you think of the new ruler of the Crystal Empire, Cadence. She said in a playful tone.
"I hate her and wish her dead." I thought, but I said "She's nice" and closed my eyes hoping that she wouldn't ask any more questions, unfortunately I was not so lucky.
"So what do you think of your country hosting the Equestria games?"
Thinking quickly I said "I left for Equestria as soon as I woke up so I didn't get a whole lot of information about current events, or events for that matter."
She stared at me for a bit before saying "but with the train it only takes a couple of hours what did you do walk?"
I had to make an excuse "Erm actually yes I did walk, it was a long walk and took me 2 years as you can see."
She raised an eyebrow before saying "you'll tell me all about these adventures later won't you dearie?"
"Sure why not" I said, already thinking up stories of a long treacherous journey that would put tears in any pony's eyes in place of me teleporting from place to place, allowing for cross country travel in a matter of days.
"That would be simply divine, Before we do that there's something I want to show you so let's get out of this tub shall we?"
We walked out of the spa and into the street, as we walked I noticed something peculiar, nobody was around. Usually there would be ponies littered about talking and doing stuff but now, nobody. Not a single soul was in sight, so naturally I asked "where is everyone?"
Only to be replied with a "oh, around." It worried my soul. "Well we're here." She said, I raised an eyebrow, this was the castle and last time I was around there was nothing pleasent. "Well, open it." She said, I sighed what could they possibly have hidden right behind the door, I open it... And nearly die of a heart attack.
Pinkie Pie
"SURPRISE!!!! Huh?" I said instead of the usual reaction of jumping and saying ahhhh! All this guy did was roll his eyes way back into his head and fall down. "Why so glum, are you sleepy?" I said while walking toward him, well more of a jumping to him.
"Dearie you may have knocked him out with that surprise of yours. " Rarity said. I
thought about it and then said "Not for long!" Pulling out a giant loudspeaker I yell "RISE AND SHINE SLEEPY HEAD!!!"
He woke screaming "gahhhhhh!" Now that was the reaction I expected.
"Hey silly we have another surprise for you in the castle!"
He gasped out in between breathes "No... more... surprises."
Then Rarity piped up saying "don't worry about it there is a party waiting for you inside in celebration of you moving here."
He nodded and walked in while I jumped ahead and yelled "Let's get this party started every pony!" Music started playing and people started dancing around, even the grumpy wumpy guy started to smile and talk with others, so considered my job of welcoming him into Ponyville done.
I fetched a muffin and poured hot sauce all over it and prepared to eat when Rei walked up saying "That looks delicous, could I have one?" I enthusiacticly agreed, getting a muffin and pouring hot sauce on it before giving it to him. As he ate I watched as he went from chewing normally to having steam come out of his ears and gave him a glass of milk to cool off. He said "I have never had anything that spicy before where'd you find this."
I answered "made it myself, like it?" As an answer he raised another muffin to have hot sauce be poured on, I readily agreed, Nothing like a job well done to lighten the mood. I started to dance when I saw Twilight walking down the stairs. I waved and yelled "Twilight, want to join the party!"
Sleepily she walked over asking, "for whom?" I pointed to Rei, as she looked her eyes slowly widened and she ran up the stairs.
TWILIGHT
This is a disaster! How has nobody noticed that that's Sombra! The lord of the Crystal Empire for Celestia's sake! Okay, calm down the fact that nobody has that eye thingie means that no one is under his control, who knows maybe It's not him, only a crystal pony who looks sokewhat like him, has a magic cutie mark, and has the EXACT same magical field enimating from him, only weaker... But what if he is Sombra and is slowly plotting to destroy equestria from the inside. How to tell, how to tell, aha! I've got it!

After seeing the purple ponie's reaction I knew something was amiss, after all the likelihood of two ponies having a wide eyed runaway reaction was unfortunately, low. Pinkie's comment only confirmed that fact, saying "Huh you'd think she of all people wouldn't do that, she's usually the cool headed one." I lowered my head in sadness, if that alicorn is the smart one, and she realized who I was I would be annihilated! I started to walk out, but then I stumbled opun a small yellow pony, seemingly fainted. I sighed wondering what to do nobody seemed to notice her, grunting as I picked her up I walked out the door wondering what happened to her, maybe Pinkie scared her out of her wits like she did to me.
A sudden scream pierced the silence along with a lot of "who ,what ,where?" As the yellow pegasus jumped off my back.
"Calm down little pony, you were knocked out, what happened to you"
She replied quietly "just a lot of people in my space so I tried to fly up... but I flew up a bit too fast and hit the roof."
" so what is your name, I can't just call you pony can I?"
"My name is Fluttershy. " she said about as loud as mouse, but at least I could hear her.
"Can you head back to your house on your own our do you need a bodygaurd to make sure no roofs attack you?" Nodding a solemn yes she started walking away. Well, that put me back into a partying mood, nothing like a good ol saving to get you in the mood for extra spicy muffins. As I walked I felt like somepony was watching me, slowly I turned my head behind me to see a the same purple alicorn staring at me that had ran away after seeing me. "Hhhheeeeeyyyyyyy, how's it going with you."
"Cut the act, I know it's you." The alicorn said bluntly as she rose into the air, preparing what looked liked a laser, prepared to destroy me for probably good this time. My mind locked into overdrive, what to do what to do! If I tried to quick fire a laser there would be a small chance to incapicitate her, but if I put up a shield I could probably block the laser and teleport out, shield it is. I threw up a shield and looked up at the alicorn and realized she was setting it to disentegrate with a side of deep fry, no amount of magic I had could block that, should've gone with the quick laser. I grimanced and looked away, so much for my plan. I waited for the inevitable to come, and waited, and waited, I thought "what is she trying to do, blow up the town with me? I could've shot dozens of lasers by now I opened my eyes to see what happened and saw the alicorn... smiling at me. I put down my shield and asked "so... you're not to kill me?"
She laughed for a bit before saying "doesn't look like it, unless of course, you wanna admit to being evil." So what's your story err..."
"Rei." And what do you mean by story."
"How you got the same magical field enimating from you as Sombra"
Of course! My magical signature, how could I have been so stupid! Any magically inclined pony would have recognized it would have freaked. My only lifeline was the fact that my alias lined up with what I was going to say. "I was an apprentice to Sombra, and because of my training my magic soon grew to resemble his."
"Neat! Wow... that takes so much stress of me." Welcome to Ponyville Rei, any questions?
"Yes, atually I have one... what was with the beam thingie, and why did you not desintegrate me on the spot?"
"It's simple really, when I rose to attack you I left a small opening so that if you were Sombra you would have probably taken it and shot me, but the laser was a shield spell, waiting to be released."
What luck! If I had used my laser it would have been over for me, but I just have to say this." Thats pretty unpredictable can be passed through with some foresight."
"Yes it is, and I just want to say," looking at me with the face she had right before she was about to destroy me. "If I find that you have ANY evil intentions I will personally wipe you off the map!"
I gulped.
"Anyways, welcome to Ponyville." She was back in the happy mood again. "Wanna go back to the party?" I nodded quickly and started walking to the castle.
As we came to the castle It reminded me to ask "who owns this castle" I asked the alicorn
"I do" and I burst out laughing
"yeah right and I suppose your friends with the lord of chaos" I retorted, thinking myself clever "and I'm Starswirl the bearded."
"Dunno about you being Starswirl but I am friends with Discord." She said in the. Most straight faced... face I've seen ever Starswirl challenged me to a duel while I still had my amulet on and tied, still laughing in my nightmares.
"Wait, you're serious about owning this castle? "
"And also about being friends the lord of chaos. "
As if on cue the primordal lord of chaos himself appeared announcing his presence with a trumpet while I stared open mouthed. Few things could shock me but this, this was one of the few things that shocked me. "Ah so who is it that was talking about me, you were making me sneeze hysterically." Hey what's with the long face, never seen a draqoniquis before?" Hey Twilight, what's with him?" He seems to be broken."
"he's just a bit shocked, after all he's didn't exactly expect you or anything." He looked at me for a few seconds then shrugged and dissappeared, leaving only me and Twilight standing there.
To save face I said "well... erm... wanna eat some extra spicy cupcakes?" She laughed and started walking to the castle

When we got to the party after that... akward incident I decided "hey princess of friendship, instead of threatening to kill the guy why don't make a new friend?" I felt like that was a good plan. As I walked into a game of pin the tail on the pony Pinkie said "what was witb your reaction to that poor crystal pony?" You looked like you had a heart attack there."
"Well..." I thought frantically, what was I supposed to say, "hey I just thought that he was the lord of all evil so I confronted him and came very close to killing him." Nope not saying that... instead I just said "He just reminded of something I had to do." While probably giving the most fake smile i've ever made, but it got me out of it so anything works. As Pinkie walked away I walked to the snack table where I saw Rei munching on spicy cupcakes... huh, I thought only Pinkie could stand that sauce. I walked up to him and said "how are you doing?"
He turned around and with a giant grin he said "Great! I have never had anything this good!" I'm about to go to the dance floor, what about you?"
I laughed, I thought this guy was the king of all evil? Man... maybe I should be a bit more trusting of new people, regardless of who they look like. Relaigning myself with reality I decided that a good dance is just what I need "I was about to head to the dance myself."
After all of the townsfolk had left I turned to Rei and asked "where are you going to stay, after all you just moved in. He turned to me looked at me for a couple of seconds before that grin disappeared and was replaced by a lot of "oh nos"
he looked at me and said "please tell me there is a convenient ruin that I could stay at?"
"Actually, there is one, the castle if the twin sisters."
Then Pinkie inturupted me saying "actually some griffion is making it his own castle, I believe it's called 'castle la quill.'"
He laughed "If only it was that simple, is there anywhere else I can stay?
I thought about, then realized the obvious. "You could stay here, there's plenty of room in the castle."
"Really!" I'd love to!" He started dancing around with joy. "That's great!" Thank you thank you thank you!"
"Gee... no problem, make yourself at ho-" I stopped, realizing that he had already raced around the stairs
"Spritly little guy isn't he Twi." Pinkie said enthusiacticly, "He's jumping all over the place."
I rolled my eyes, "your one to talk." Well it's late, I'm hitting the hay."
SOMBRA
I woke up for the first time in weeks refreshed and happy, I looked around and saw that I was in a giant feather bed ahhh it was good to be in royal places, then I remembered what castle I was in and jumped out of the bed. What was I doing, staying in the enemies house! I hyperventilated, checking the sheets, pillows, walls, and basically everything for poison, only to find...none? No dart trap, no secret entrance for an assassin, no spikes? I shook my head, the priests of the amulet always warned about seemingly nice royals, they invite you in, give you a party and when you're drunk they attack. Wait... there was no alcohol at the party, the closest thing to that was the hot sauce. This royal was surprisingly welcoming, then I remembered what happened at the party, I let my face fall back into the pillows. On the bright side nobody present will think I'm the lord of evil... but if anyone remembers me dancing like a fool I'll never live it down. I lifted my face off the oh so comfortable pillows and walked through the halls slowly admiring the arcitecture, it made me homesick seeing all the pillars, all it needed was some statues of the past Sombra's and I could almost mistake it for home.
"Good morning." Twilight said "recovered from that dancing eh Rei?" I looked over and saw here eating a plate of pancakes, as I looked at them my stomach started rumbling and I realized that I was starving. She looked at me and said "you want some?" I thought about it for a couple of seconds before in answer I started levitating a pancake and chewed hungrily. She laughed and said "looks I was right about thaat at least." Well I've got to help Pinkie with some baking of hers, bye!" As soon as she was out of sight I lost all control and buried my face in the pancakes.
As I ate I thought about what I should do, after all I have for the most part the towns trust. I sighed wondering what to do when the dragon walked in, looking at me for only a couple of seconds before shrugging and walking off. It hit me, I need connections, people to tell me what's going on and what happened. I started to walk out the castle, wondering who to start with... maybe that Applejack, she seemed honest and hardworking. I walked around town, looking for that mare.
RAINBOW DASH
I rested on my usual puff of cloud when I saw the same pony that soaked me yesterday, and I had a special prank just for him. "Todays weather is cloudy with a chance of tornados." I said as I zoomed about him, creating a mini tornado, large enough to mess someone's mane up and shake them up, but small enough to not do any damage. But just as I was about to release it a swift gust of wind picked it up spiraling around the ornado, making it way too big! I spiraled out of control and watched as it decended on the unknowing pony, all that I could think is "whoops."
As I caught up to tornado I saw that it was actually wearing off because off some magic he was doing, as I saw that I thanked Celestia and promised to go over to the pony, say sorry a million times and promise to never prank him or anyone else with tornados ever again. As I got close to him I realized that he looked a bit different than usual, like something in him had snapped "Mister?" I said "are you alright?" He turned around and the last thing I saw was that instead of blue eyes his eyeswere a dark red.
When I woke up everything was in ruins, I looked around and started to hyperventilate. Cloudsdale was in complete ruin, everything I had ever seen was destroyed. I started to walk around the remainder of the town slowly taking it all in. As I walked I just started "no." At everything I saw, soon all I could hear was "no." No." One step, "no." Another step, "no." Just as I thought it couldn't be any worse I saw Twilight. "No no no no no no NO!" I said "Twi what happened?"
She looked at me for a few seconds before saying "where were you, you could have stopped all this." Then I watched as her heartbeat slowed, then stopped.
"NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!" I flew around town, looking for anyone that was alright, but each time I reached somebody they would only say "where were you?" And then slump over. Then finally I saw Celestia herself, still as a rock. I sat down, crying, and all I could say is "no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,"
Then a voice said "snap out of it!" I looked around and saw tje black pony yelling "snap out of it!"
"Snap out of it?" I said
"Yes, good!" He said "this isn't real, you've got to snap out of it!" This isn't real? I thought before being thrown through the darkness and put back into... the same field that I was in before? I didn't have much time to think about it, because at that point my knees buckled and I blacked out.

RAINBOW DASH
When I woke up the sun was setting, I stood up and looked around and saw the pony that I had previously pranked. He turned to me and I noticed that he had blue eyes, inwardly I breathed a sigh of relief, so it was all just a bad dream, probably hit my head when I was thrown out of tornado. "I'm very sorry." I said " I didn't mean for the tornado to hurt you." Then to my shock he started laughing and laughing, tears of laughter flew about and suddenly I had the urge to slowly back away.
After the laughter finally died down he said "You're sorry?" I put you through your personal hell and you think you should be sorry for accidentally sending a tornado at me?"
"Wait..." I said shaking my head "You mean that wasn't just some awful nightmare?" That remark prompted him to erupt into another fit of laughter.
"Yes." He said still laughing "A nightmare custom tailored to be your worst fear, no I'm afraid that was no dream."
"Then did you do it?" I said
He sighed and bowed his head "when you sent the tornado at me I lost all control and lashed out at whoever was close, and I instinctively used a nightmare curse." I'm sor, sor, blegh, whats the word?"
"Sorry?"
"Yes that."
"anyways are you okay?" You don't seem well, like you went through a nightmare."
He looked at me sadly, like he had had his dreams crushed "Usually when someone hears that I put them through that they run away screaming."
"Well im not most people, but in all honesty i'm shaken, and you look like you're shaken up too."
"Since you have been so kind as to not denounce me as a monster, I'll tell you that whenever I use a speel without the necessary magic, I get backlash in the form of whatever spell I used."
"So... you got hit with that spell too?"
"Yes, and I am sorry for what I did." Then he stumbled and almost fell
"You need help!" I said starting to walk forward, but fell, I could barely move my legs.
He looked at me saying "it looks like we both do, where's the nearest doctor?
"The nearest doctor is too far, but I know a friend who's cottage is nearby, it may be close enough to make it." She's probably knows enough to help us out while she gets a real doctor."
"Alright." He said "lean on me."
"Nah." I said "you'll need to lean on me, before we both collasped. We slowly got up, relying on each other for support.
"It looks like we both need help, is there a doctor nearby?"
"Not one close enough, but I know someone who is close enough that we might make it without blacking out again."
"Okay then, on my mark step... step."
Then I joined in, "Step, step, step, step." Slowly making progress towards Fluttershy's cottage
FLUTTERSHY
Humming a song to myself as I watered my plants and got ready for the night, I heard a thump on my door right before I went to sleep. "Who's there?" I said as I slowly opened my door.
"Help." Rainbow Dash said before fainting.
"Oh dear!" You need help!" I said pulling them in I'll get a doctor." I said flying out to town. What was going on here?
"Hello? Are you awake?" I said.
"Ugghhhhh... my head hurts." Rainbow Dash said.
I breathed a sigh of relief, she had been out for awhile and despite the other pony saying that it would be fine I had started to worry. "Thank Celestia your okay now... what happened to you?"
"An accident, that's all." She said with suspicious uncertainty, "where am I?"
"You're in a hospital." the doctor said walking in, "where your 'accident' caused severe trauma to both you and the other pony over there." But you recovered quite quickly and should be able to leave in a few hours, until then please relax and don't steal any books.
SOMBRA
Describe this in a word? "Whoops." If twilight finds out I cast that spell on Rainbow Dash i'm mincemeat! All she needs is an excuse to blow me off the map, luckily Rainbow Dash hasn't spilled the beans, but who knows what she'll do get her to crack! I've got to find a way to-
"sir?" Are you okay, you're sweating." I looked around and saw the doctor staring at me.
"Just a fever, I'm okay."
"Alright." he said as he walked out of the room, "Get well soon."
I sighed, well there's nothing I can do now no sense spilling over cried milk, but the nightmare that I got from the backlash wasn't right. I had experienced a nightmare curse before and had lived through it coming to reality, but this... this was different, it was like some static had interfered with it, like it was in between two visions. I just couldn't put my finger on it. I raised my hoofs up exasperation, then screaming in pain, as if someone had taken a hot knife and shoved through my leg. I looked around for the attacker before seeing that it was in a cast."Ohhhhhhh." I said before blacking out to sudden pain.

SOMBRA
Nothing like a good ol broken leg to slow things down, but after a couple of days of healing me and Rainbow Dash were all better. "So, you got anything to do, because I'm bored out of my skull."
"Yes," I said in a sarcastic voice, "I just got out of the hospital and I've got a busy , busy schedule doing nothing."
"Well... I have something to do, It's called pranks, you wanna come?"
I thought about it, "meh, I don't have anything better to do." Well I do, and I need his promise not to tell anyone about the... incident.
"Great!" He said, "meet me at the lake in ten minutes!" He flew off, leaving me with only dust.
"Hey!" Us mortals have to walk ya know." Shaking my head, what have I gotten myself into.
We meet at the lake and I saw... a giant slingshot? "Why is that there?" I said she simply pointed to a stack of water balloons lying next to her. "Oh." I said before trotting over.
"What?!" she said, "that's just not fair!" I looked over to where she was looking, a pony had an umbrella.
"Just how often do you do this?" I said quizzically.
"Oh, ya know, sometimes when I'm bored."
"How often are you bored?"
"Lately with so few monster attacks, a lot."
"Ah," then I had an idea, "Fire It behind him,just trust me on this one."
"Alright, if you say so." She said firing the catapult. I still had tiny bit of magic and it almost nothing to make a small ramp across the lake, I watched as the balloon went down,hit the ramp, and then hit the pony beside it.
"Heck yeah!" That was pretty awesome."
"Hey, I have a favor to ask you."
"Sure, what is it?"
"PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PUHLEEZE don't tell the others about the incident!" I hate to grovel, But if the so called princess of friendship heard that I had put a curse on one of her friends that would be all she would need to blast me to cinders.
"Uh okay, no prob!" I eyed her suspiciously, that was WAY too easy. She's gonna tell, and I'm gonna get killed and, and- "You okay?" she said.
"Uh, yeah... I- just the fever, really." Wanna throw some more balloons?
TWILIGHT SPARKLE
"Princess!" A creature said falling from the sky. "Ah, there you are." the griffon said brushing of dirt. I recognized this griffon with a shudder, of all the people I wanted to see today he was at the bottom of my list
"Hey... Silver Quill."
"Well adou to you too twilight, have I mentioned that you look awfully fine today, did you get a new haircut?"
"I grimaced, "what do you want?"
"Well, you know that ruin that I may or may not be making into a castle ya know that one."
"The castle of two sisters."
"Yes that one, well I may need a tinny bit of help with a little something."
I sighed, "What is it."
"Well it may or may not be HAUNTED!" he yelled before fainting, and getting back up again almost immediately
I laughed, there was no such thing as ghosts, but I wanted to see him grovel a little bit more about it before I check out whatever was happening. "Please, by all means, explain."
"It all happened yesterday night, when I was looking over repairs and the midnight crew, when all of a sudden two ghosts appeared center stage, right at the throne room." One was like it was made of wind and emitted light, while the other seemed like a black hole, dragging all light into it, when we saw it we panicked and ran before we saw anything else."
"So let me get this straight, you, one of the most annoying people in the world, want me, to go to a quite possibly dangerous situation, to save your pet project?"
"More or less."
"Sure"
"PLEASE, I'll DO- what?"
"Why not? I'm sure that Rainbow Dash would like it, and I'd like to see what these 'ghosts' are, just one thing in return."
"What would it be?"
"I get all of the books in that castle, All of them."
"That's it?" Okay."

SOMBRA
"So we're going on a ghost hunt?"
"I thought it would just be us six."
"I got nothing better to do." This tidbit of conversation happened just as we reached the castle, a hunt for ghosts in an old castle, Finally something more my line of expertise. Besides, I may find a clue for my amulet in here, and I really have nothing better to do.
"Ooooooh," Pinkie Pie said, "Long time no see old ruins ol buddy ol pal." I will never get used to her antics.
"He said that they saw the ghosts in the lower floors, so let's go down. once we reached the lower floors we spread out, looking about while Pinkie played an ominous piece of music on the organ, we looked around for two hours, we found some secret passageways, a lot of spiders and dust, and a couple of death traps, but no ghosts or for me, no amulet. "See? What did I say, no ghosts, now let's just get the books here and-
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
We all turned to each other saying at once, "Pinkie!" We rushed over to the music room where we saw Pinkie staring open mouthed at the scene unfolding in front of her, as we looked where she was looking we joined her in open mouthed dumbfoundedness as we watched the scene unfold. They matched the description to the dot, one like a black hole, while the other seemed to be made of wind.
The one made of wind turned and saw us, his eyes widened before he yelled "RUN!" and then all hell broke loose, all at once the dark one exploded into a million tendrils of darkness, all arking towards us before a gust of wind so strong it seemed like a hurricane had moved in, blowing the darkness away "I SAID RUN!" the light ghost yelled before he was surrounded by the tendrils of darkness.
We ran. Screaming.
"What the heck is going on?!" Twilight yelled above the winds
"Well from what I saw I have good news and bad news, good is that one of the ghosts is on our side, bad news is that chances are, he's the weaker one."
"But what are they?"
"They're ghosts, a shade and a wisp to be exact... wait how do you not know this, I thought you were the smart one?!"
"No one's ever seen a ghost before, much less recorded in all the history I know." There's been plenty of ghosts in the past, I thought. There's a whole category of different types of ghosts, something fishy is going on here.
I didn't have much time to think about it, because just then the wall exploded behind us, once again revealing the fight "Isn't there any way to contain it?" Twilight asked "Since you seem to be an expert on all this."
"They usually have some kind of source that amplifies its power, something like, like, that!" I said pointing to a spider with a weird back pattern, that almost seemed like a symbol. Quickly I shot it with a beam of magic,and found my conclusions were right when the shade writhed in pain. "Kill any spiders you find, and do it quickly before were run out or killed!"
We split up, each taking a different path to try to kill the spiders before the shade got us.
PINKIE PIE
"Weeeeeeeeeee!" I said jumping around the room, finding all the icky black spiders I could, when the wisp quite literally appeared out of the wind.
"You seem quite bright, I must ask for your assistance."
"Try twilight if you're interested in brains, i'm just your average 4th wall comedy pony."
"You know?!" So I'm not crazy!" Anyways, going back to the speech, you have the brightness I need, not in magic, but in science."
"Okie... doki...loki?" I said, following him as he guided me into a passage through a fake wall, leading me to a room with a... "Wooow."
"Thank you, and I need you to help me complete it, unless you know someone else who could help me more."
"How did you make this."
"Great ponies, ants, and a thousand years of nothing to do besides wait for the shadow to come up and try to escape."
"Speaking of which, WHY ARE YOU NOT FIGHTING HIM?" I said as I realized that he wasn't doing just that.
"So many of the spiders have been killed that I can now hold it back just in the back of my mind, so no worries, so do you wanna help?"
"HECK YEAH!"
TWILIGHT SPARKLE
Something here doesn'the add up, the fact that nothing has ever been brought up about ghosts and yet a colt who hasn't had contact in a 1000 years claims that plenty is known about it. I thought as I squished another spider. On top of that this ghost hasn'the been seen ever since it's creation, meaning that something has been hiding them. Probably the latter, which means that they were wanting us to find other things like this, this may be the string that pulls back the curtain, exposing whatever is hidden underneath, or maybe just it's a crazy coincidence. Either way this is a revalation! But what happens next is what nobody but seers know.
"Hey." A voice behind me said as I jumped 2 feet in the air and turned around "The shadow is no longer dangerous, here you go." The wisp said giving me a jar with the shadow inside. "I believe you can handle this." The once deadly shadow was now just a single tendrils of darkness, trying to break out of it's glass prison to no avail.
"Any way to get rid of it?"
"Try asking your ghost expert over there," He said pointing to Rei "He may know something."
"Thank you for slowing him down, but why didn't you just kill the spiders before?" I thought, after all, if he had been battling this thing for a while he should have done it before now.
"Did your expert tell you?" Wisps can't touch living things." he said before gliding straight through me, while it sent a shiver down my spine he was right, I couldn't touch him or vice versa.
"Okay, but then wouldn't the shadow not be dangerous either?"
"If only, shadows can attack living things in exchange for having to have an anchor to keep them around."
Then Rei stepped forward, saying "you seem familiar, do I know you?"
"Well, I was-" He stopped, and they both stared at each other for a while before they both said "never mind." Witch caused my suspicious meter to go from 'moderate' to 'somebody better have an explanation or they will be cooked medium well.' But since the wisp seemed good and he helped us I decided I would interrogate them later.
"Would you like to stay at my castle?" We always have room." I said just to be polite, he probably will go on a tangent about he just wants to return to-
" Another castle to haunt?!" Hot dog let's go!"
"What."
