A Tale of Many Worlds
Mystery Cure Part 2
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSonic sighed as he read the note on the small hut.
Sorry I cannot be there to greet you, I have other things that I must do. I have traveled to see my family, I will return though most definitely!
"So Zecora is out of the picture... Looks like we are going to need Dipper's Journal..." Sonic said, which prompted him to take out the book and begin to search through it.
"I got something! Deep in the Everfree forest, there is said to be a special root that when grounded up and boiled using a very high energy level, can cure anything! However it is guarded, by a large beast that will ask three riddles, and should you answer incorrectly, you will be spared, but will be unable to attempt ever again..." Dipper said, reading straight from the journal.
"Well we've got a lead. Let's go!" Mabel shouted, but Alphonse held up a hand.
"Slow down there. We aren't going to just rush in there and get killed. We need to take this calm and steady..." Alphonse began, but the noticed that they were gone. Alphonse let out a shocked cry and ran into the forest after them shouting "WAIT FOR ME!"
The group stopped and waited for Alphonse to catch up, which gave them time to think about what these riddles could be.
"Do you think he's gonna ask some overused riddle, like the one about the three stages of man, or some super complicated riddle that would be impossible to figure out?" Sonic asked, and no one replied, instead they were all looking ahead at the giant monster that stood before them. It was a plant monster, a large mushroom like creature, with glowing orange eyes, vine like growths that slithered around, and finally the large mouth filled with jagged, pointed teeth.
"You seek the Root of Healing? Am I correct?" It asked, and Sonic nodded. "Then I will ask you three riddles, and should you fail one, you will leave empty handed, and forbidden to touch the root." It then said, and Sonic nodded again, the vines began to dig into the ground and spell out a riddle.
My first is in "near" and my last is in "unicorn", you'll find me in "finger" and "hand", but not in "glove". What am I? Sonic placed a hand to his chin, while he thought about this, Dipper flipped through his journal searching for an answer, Jowee paced around trying to think of something, Jenny searched through her database for anything that could help, but ultimately it was Alphonse who came up with the answer.
"The letter 'N'. The word near starts with n, the world unicorn ends with n, the letter is in both finger and hand, but there is no n in glove." He said, which shocked them, they hadn't expected Alphonse to answer.
"Good. Now for the second riddle." The mushroom said.
Who makes it, has no need for it. Who buys it, has no use for it. Who uses it can neither see nor feel it. What is it? Was inscribed onto the ground, and this one came to Jowee's mind.
"A coffin? I mean, if you make one then you're obviously alive. If you can buy one then aren't going to need it right away. A dead creature cannot feel nor see anything, so they wouldn't be able to see or feel the coffin!" Jowee said, jumping up and down happily.
"I must admit I am shocked. However my final riddle will be the hardest." The mushroom spoke with a grin.
What question can you never answer yes to? Was written in the dirt, however they all remained silent.
"That's a hard one... What question can you never say yes to?" Mabel muttered, while Sonic sighed and leaned on a tree.
"Maybe we should take a break, maybe a little nap to help refresh our brains." Mabel said, but Sonic's eyes widened.
"Are you asleep yet?!" Sonic shouted. "You can't say yes to that question, if you did then you wouldn't be asleep!" Sonic yelled with a grin.
The mushroom began to laugh and it thrust one of the vines underneath the ground before raising out a large yellow root that seemed to shine with a white light.
"You have proven yourselves worthy of the Root of Healing. Take it and cure what ails you." The mushroom said, it began to sink into the ground and eventually was gone.
"Well that was... A thing that just happened..." Dipper said, and they began to rush back towards Twilight's castle, now that they had the root that would be able to cure their Poison Joke.
The Mane Six were given the special medicine and quickly drank, or in Pinkie's case, placed directly onto the tongue, their helpings, although it wouldn't have instant effects, by the next morning they should be returned to normal, so for now they would just have to wait.
It had been at least a day or two since the Mystery Cure had been given to the Mane Six, and they had found themselves back to their normal selves, and they each began to prepare special chores for the twins, who would be doing this under Sonic's orders. They knew that it might seem a little much, but this lesson might come in handy for them. So to begin they started with what the chores should be.
