Dipper and Mabel's Punishment

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Dipper and Mabel stood outside of Twilight's Castle, where Twilight was waiting outside, with a small purple dragon, whom they had never met before. This made them nervous as he could be dangerous and maybe even deadly. However he gave them a warm smile and waved, which comforted them.

"So you two are Dipper and Mabel Pines? Nice to meet you, I'm Spike, personal assistant to Princess Twilight Sparkle." Spike said with a grin. He wasn't much taller than they were, certainly shorter than Sonic and Discord, but what they didn't know may be a danger to them, although he seemed rather friendly.

"I'm sorry about this, but Sonic just wants to make sure you two are respectful of others... Although he doesn't show it sometimes..." Twilight said, while Dipper and Mabel nodded in understanding. "Well, I was thinking you two could alphabetize the books in my library, you'll only have to do three shelves." Twilight explained, as she led them to her library, and the twins let out a gasp upon seeing it, there were hundreds if not thousands of book shelves, each one about fifteen feet tall, stocked to the brim with books. "Don't worry, you'll be alphabetizing the smaller shelves over there." Twilight pointed at five smaller shelves, most likely for Spike to reach. The twins sighed and moved over. Dipper was the reader, and normally he'd di this kind of thing if he was very, very, very, very bored, but at the moment there were hundreds of things that he could do all over town. For Mabel this was pure torture, she would rather be running around outside, trying to find some adventure or journey to go on, so she was very upset.

"This is a load of garbage!" Mabel shouted about halfway through the first shelf. Dipper rolled his eyes and continued to place the books in their proper places, which didn't take long considering he was used to doing things like this. They finished and left, ready to take on their next chore for the day.

Dipper groaned as he pushed the large bucket of apples across the grass, he knew that he had to get this to the Apple family's home, and he wasn't very strong. He stopped and began to pant, he was drenched with sweat and wiped his forehead with his arm, before looking back at Applejack and Big Macintosh. Applejack kicked a tree with a single hoof, and several apples began to fall from the trees into more of the buckets. Big Mac took a different approach, he backed away and charged at another tree, slamming into it with his shoulder, causing the apples to fall into the buckets. Dipper looked as Mabel picked up the ones that missed the buckets and threw them into there. Dipper thought this was going to be easier and that's why he agreed to do this part.

"Yah doin' ok over there?" Applejack asked, and Dipper nodded in response with a large fake smile. "Don't lie to me, it ain't difficult for me tah tell when someone's lyin'!" She shouted, frowning. Dipper frowned and shook his head. Applejack moved over and lifted up the bucket, before dropping it at the house. "There, if yah need help don't be afraid tah ask." She said, and Dipper nodded, before he started to move another bucket, they would be allowed to go once they got ten buckets of apples, and considering he'd been working on that one since they'd started, this was going to take a while.

"Now just sort them out by type, and I'll be back to check on you in about ten minutes." Rarity said as she exited the room. Mabel had been given the task of sorting out Rarity's gems, mostly by type, while Dipper did something else. While Mabel wasn't sure what it was, she knew that he would never give up.

"I better get started." She said, as she started placing the beautiful gems into piles based on their kind. Meanwhile, Dipper sat on a stool while Rarity hemmed the pair of pants that she was working on.

"I can't thank you two enough, I would have had such a busy day. This should give me some time to work on my novel." She said, which surprised Dipper.

"You're writing a novel/" He asked.

"No, I'm reading one. A romance novel about a strong independent warrior griffon who just wants to find her love. I take it you enjoying reading as well?" She said and Dipper nodded.

"I mostly read mystery novels though." Dipper said, while Rarity gave him a warm smile. He let out a quick yelp as she pricked him with the needle.

"Oh! I'm terribly sorry! Hold on, I'll check it." She said, moving the pants and inspecting Dipper's leg. There was a small cut that bled a small amount, so she left and returned with a bandage. "Once again, I'm very sorry." Rarity frowned, but Dipper smiled.

"Don't worry about it, I've been through worse." Dipper responded, and he knew that this might just be a well needed rest.

Dipper and Mabel looked at the oven which was now completely engulfed in flames, while Pinkie stood next to them.

"Maybe I shouldn't have put that super flammable flour in the cake..." She said, as Dipper inspected the bag.

"Pinkie... This isn't flour... It's aluminum powder..." Dipper said, looking back at the oven, amazed that the fire wasn't spreading to the rest of the kitchen.

Rainbow Dash flew around in small circles, before spinning and looping around again. Dipper and Mabel were bored out of their minds, while it was true that this was cool for the first five minutes, after three hours it starts to lose its touch. Perhaps Scootaloo was the only one still enthralled with Rainbow's performance. This was what Rainbow wanted them to do, watch her fly around for a few hours. The twins could think of a million things they would rather do, and had even begun to list them out.

"Rip out my braces." Mabel said.

"Give Waddles a sponge bath." Dipper continued.

"Burn all my sweaters." Mabel added.

"Find the author of the journal." Dipper said with a smile.

"Go on a date with Gideon." Mabel had a very bored look.

"Find a... What?" Dipper looked at his sister with a confused expression.

"Fight gnomes." Mabel said.

"What was that last one?" Dipper asked.

"Give Soos a haircut." Mabel ignored her twin and kept listing things.

"Mabel, what was that one thing?" Dipper asked.

Dipper and Mabel knocked on Sonic and Fluttershy's door, and much to their surprise Angel answered it.

"Angel!" Mabel shouted excitedly, before the rabbit's eyes widened and it broke into a run away from the twins. Mabel frowned before saying "Aw..."

"I can't really blame him, remember what you did last week?" Dipper asked, as Mabel recalled the events, she had dies Angel blue and put him in a tiny pair of Sonic shoes and placed white gloves on his paws, before placing fake quills on his head. She had said something about him being a tiny Sonic and the rabbit stormed off angrily.

"Oh yeah... I brought him an apology sandwich." Mabel said, but Dipper sighed.

"You know he doesn't eat sandwiches... You tried for weeks before that..." Dipper said, facepalming.

"I still haven't given up on him... I will get him to eat at least one sandwich..." Mabel said, taking on a more serious tone. Fluttershy walked over and noticed the open door.

"Oh, are you two done all ready?" She asked, and they shook their heads. "Then is something wrong? Is somepony hurt!?" She asked, beginning to panic, but the twins quickly reassured her.

"No, we've only got you left." Mabel said, before they walked inside.

"Well, I've all ready done most of the chores around the house, maybe you could go and check on Mr. Manticore. Don't worry he's very friendly." She said, before leading them outside, and motioning towards a basket of fish. "If he gets hungry, just give him a fish or two. Although I don't really like to do this... It's just something that has to be done..." She said sadly. The twins then noticed the Manticore sitting near the chicken coop. It watched the birds with a hungry look in its eyes, occasionally licking its teeth.

"Mr. Manticore! Fluttershy sent us out to feed you!" Mabel happily shouted, and the large cat like beast approached. They quickly threw him a fish and he moved back to the chicken coop, but the hungry look was gone, knowing that they were done for the day, they twins went back inside and prepared to go to sleep, but first they would need to get a bite to eat themselves.
