“Erm... Twilight what is this?” Spike asked holding up the scroll, looking at the small drawing of a pegasus on it.
Twilight groaned, slamming her head against the desk with a thud. “I’m trying to make a spell to turn non-ponies into pegasi from sunset to sunrise...” Twilight raises her head in defeat, Getting up, she glances out of the window to Ponyville. “I been trying all sorts of ideas for new spells, but...”
Spike looks at all the crumpled up pieces of paper lying around the desk. “I noticed.” Spike put them into a rubbish bag. “What about this one? Even though it’s not a spell, it kinda rhymes.”
Twilight took it with her magic and rolled it up. “In a poem?”
“Yeah!” Spike answered. He noticed a shimmer of blue light from a small pool of liquid in a bowl on the table. “Whoa! What that?”
Twilight look into it. “I was trying to recreate a version of the portal that leads to the other world the mirror leads to.” Twilight took a look at the mirror before her. “The mirror I used in the spell turned into this weird blue liquid.” Twilight swirled her hoof through it and tapped the bottom of the bowl.
“It's only glowing goo?” Spike scooped some up and it drips through his claws. “I kinda like it.”
Twilight rolled her eyes. “I bet you do. Come on Spike, lets go get something to eat.”
“Great!” Spike cheered.
Twilight put the scroll down on the table by the bowl of glowing goo. As Spike opens the door a breeze blows through, and the scroll rolls off the table and enters the goo. With a flash of light both the liquid and scroll were no more, just an empty bowl remained.
Twilight gasped at what just happened, picking up the bowl and tipping it upside down hoping to get something out of it. “Twilight what are you doing? I thought we were going out for some lunch.” says Spike not noticing what happened to the scroll and blue liquid.
“They gone!” She screamed at him.
Spike realized what just happened. “Whoa! What happened Twilight?”
“I-I don't know! The scroll rolled off the table into the liquid and then both just vanished in a flash of light!” Twilight explained putting the bowl down checking for any of the scroll or liquid, She found a little bit of it on the table side from where Spike had scooped some up with his claw.
Spike watched her quickly pick it up with her magic placing it in a test tube. “Twilight, how can a scroll with a spell that doesn't even work and some mirror turned into liquid react like that?”
Twilight couldn't figure it out, she was completely and utterly stomped. “I haven't got a clue Spike but we going to to find out what just happened! Come on!”
Spike sighs putting his claw on over his face. “O...kay Twilight.” He muttered as she rushes by him. Spike just casually closes the door with a roll of his eyes. “Well there goes lunch...”
With a flash of light, a scroll lands on dusty wooden floorboards. An overhead ceiling lamp swings side to side the light flickering, with the hard sound of rain tapping against the windows.
“Well looky here.” A old gentle hand takes hold of the scroll. “Wonder where this came from.” The old man says, rubbing his white beard with his free hand. He looked up from where it fell, seeing a open glass case. “Ah, so this is where it fell from. I’m getting too old for this.” He put the scroll inside closing it up and placing it on the display case.
The scroll case had two pegasi, one on either side of a shield of arms on it with waving swirling patterns over it. “A shame to find such an old piece to Oldtic Antics shop with tomorrow being its final day.” He stared out the window with his saddened old eyes.
Sitting down at the counter he took one good look at all the old collectables he had acquired over the years. Shields, swords, old books, clothing and paintings. None of it came cheap. “I guess it time to move on.” He adjusted his glasses.
“I just hope everything here finds a good home.”
