The Thirteenth Day

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Wake up on day... shit, is it like thirteen days now? You crawl out of the tent, only to be greeted by the harsh light. Fucking sun. Walk over to the tree with scratches. You look over that there is twelve of them. Yup, it is the thirteenth day. Grab the screwdriver and dig in another line. Toss it over to a small pile of coconuts. There aren't that many left. Just enough to last for today. Oh no, how will Fluttershy react to this? You hear the metal tent rustle around.

Out pops said mare, yawning and scratching her eyes. "Good morning, Anon."

"Morning." You say in a flat tone.

"Is everything alright?"

You start to chew your inner cheek. "No... I'm afraid we're low on food."

She slowly grows worried at the situation. "Wh-what do we do? Any ideas?"

You grab a coconut and sit down. "I'm afraid not. Let's just keep waiting."

"No, I'm done waiting. We should do something. Maybe... maybe we can make a boat out of the wood, or, or I can fly out and get help!"

"That won't work. Without anything keeping it afloat, the makeshift raft would simply sink. If you fly out, you'll eventually tire out and fall into the ocean."

"It's better than just doing nothing!"

"Let's just wait here. At least we can stay safe. The rescue parties must be still out there."

"And what if they're not?"

You hesitate to answer and ponder her question. Maybe... they did quit a while ago. But that won't keep you from surviving. "Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. For now, we just survive with what we have left." You satisfyingly say.

"I don't wanna survive, I wanna live!" Fluttershy bellows.

"By risking your own life out there?!" You shout.

"I could talk to the seagulls, maybe they could guide me back home."

"No, they are mischievous little rats with wings, it will make matters worse."

"How could you know?"

"Those bastards took my hod dog when I was at the beach!"

"Is that all they did?"

"They even pecked my dog when we were going out for a walk."

"WHAT?! Why those-"

"Forget it, it was a long time ago. Don't worry, I chucked a rock at one of them when they were leaving."

She sighs. "OK, I'll leave it alone."

"Good, we should... we should just keep on eating our rations. If we try to conserve them, they'll just waste away." Fluttershy is about to speak, but closes her mouth and nods. "Alright, let's eat."
