True Harmony

Sitting in his room, alone, was Digital Flicker. Consumed, as always, by his studies. One day, he was sure, he would find the answer to the question he has spent his entire life researching. The question of unicornification was at the tip of his hooves, however, he was never able to find a way to turn himself into a unicorn successfully. He was sure that the answer was in one of these books, he just didn’t know which one. Digital Flicker was always a very isolated pony, he always thought that study and hard work was the way forward and not any pesky “friendship” concerns. There were someponies that called him the very incarnation of enmity, he never paid attention to those ponies. In truth, he never paid attention to anypony that wasn’t either his family or someone that he had to pay attention to. As he was sitting there, studying, he heard a loud click and when he turned around he saw a bright flash of light. What he saw dumbfounded him, confused him, bewildered him.

“Discord?” He said with a slight uncertain tone in his voice “What? How? What do you want of me?” There were so many questions within Digital’s head that he wasn’t sure which one he should ask first. How was Discord here?  Digital had heard news that he had somehow escaped his stony jail but he had also heard that some beings called the “Elements of Harmony” had stopped him from causing much permanent damage to Equestria.

“That I was my dear friend!” Discord said in a cheerful tone “Now, as I hope you can see, I am very much not encased in stone. Almost though. You see, I made a couple of mistakes in my most recent endeavour. I was too confident in myself however I still knew that Celestia forgot an eetsy-beetsy crucial detail in her plan to stop me.”

“That being?”

“Oh the slight little detail is that she actually needs REAL harmony to stop me”

“Real harmony?”

“Well you see, when Celestia enlisted the super mega friendship group to stop me from conquering Equestria they tried to use the Elements of Harmony, the problem with that is that they don’t have all of the Elements! TRUE Harmony can’t be created without the negative as well as the positive”

“How do I fit into all of this again?”

“You see I believe that you embody the element of enmity, almost as elusive as magic. Most people at least have some sort of a connection to the outside world but you seem to have managed to avoid that. I’m trying to gather the other 6 elements to take a stand against Celestia.”

Digital Flicker gave Discord a confused look. He saw what he was trying to achieve and why but he couldn’t wrap his head around what made Discord think that…

“Oo-hoo! Your mind's an interesting place Digi!” Discord laughed “I know that you’re considering selling me off to Celestia right now. However, I have a deal-sealer for you! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! (Buy now whilst stocks last). Imagine yourself… as a Unicorn! Yes, one of those magic things with horns that look almost like one of mine but not! You’d like that wouldn’t you. Well, I can give it you. All I need is a vow from you to come to me and help me overthrow Celestia when the time is right.”

Digital only knew of one vow, so he started to recite it.

“Cross my heart and hope to fly…” Digital began

“Oh no no no no. That’s not what I… eugh . You remind me of 6 “maresketeers” from Ponyville. Just tell me that you’ll help me. I don’t need any rituals!”

“Erm… Alright then, you have my word!”

“Good, alright Unicornifi-whatever time.”

With a flick of his fingers Discord disappeared and Digital began to feel a strange sensation on his wings and on his head. His wings began to crumple and retract into his main coat, not in a necessarily painful way mind you but just try to imagine one of your limbs slowly disappearing. His head sprouted a new growth. A few moments later Digital had officially changed race.

“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” Digital let out a massive stallion-squee and began to jump around his room, finally having achieved his life-long goal.
