Enchanted Heart: Breaking Free
Chapter 1~ "The Spirits in the Crystal" (Pilot Chapter)
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was a stormy day in ponyville, and as usual, Twilight was sitting, reading a book.
But this time, it was not just for fun.
Twilight looked up from her book as she heard the strike of lightning.
"Just some electricity, Twilight.... nothing to be afraid of.. " She sighed.
Twilight closed the magic book she held, and put it back into the bookshelf.
Spike came into the room, shouting "Twi, lunch is ready!”, and went back into the kitchen.
The unicorn mare followed him, and sat down.
The dragon picked up a plate with a small stack of sandwiches, and some water.
"Spike, do you know what day it is tomorrow?" Twilight said, before picking up a tuna sandwich, and taking a bite of it.
"Sunday?" Spike replied, and turned towards Twilight. "No, it is something else too.... I just can't remember what.. " the mare complained, and let out a small sigh.
"Maybe there is an answer in that "History of Equestria" book of yours." The young dragon said.
"YES! Thanks Spike!" Twilight shouted, and ran out to the library.
"But you didn't finish your sandwich.."
~~~
A few minutes of looking later, Twilight found the book. She went through page after page. After a few minutes, she found the right page. "The Extinction of the Rubealis Ponies" the title read.
~~~
"53 years ago, a completely unknown land was discovered, far north beyond the everfree forest.
In the mountains, untouched by ponies, lived another pony race. They called themselves rubealis ponies, or more commonly used, rubealises.
They didn't seem that threatening just as we arrived, but it was clear we were not welcome in their land.
We wanted to find out more abot these unknown ponies, and their enchanted land. The rubealises was described as an often colourful pony, with small fangs that were barely visible. The pegasuses had slightly larger wings than a normal pony, and the wings were shaped differently all together.
Despite their overall cute looks, it soon became clear for us that they wanted us to leave.
Suddenly, a small fight broke out, and more and more ponies and rubealises helped to protect their own kind. This fight started the war, that will always be known as "The Fall of the Rubealis Ponies".
Luckily for us, the new enemies were not as strong as us. They did not have as strong magic, but there was one thing they had that we lacked of.
The ability to heal their smaller wounds and damages, and strength in their souls.
But no matter how much they healed, we won. All the rubealises died in the battlefield, as far as we know.
But there was one other exeption, or rather five. The legends tell that the royal family escaped, because the youngest mare was shot in the chest by an enchanted arrow, causing her horn to react.
A light wrapped around them, and in the next second they were all frozen in a green, unbreakable crystal.
Nopony knows if they survived or died, but it is strongly believed that they are dead, because of the long time that has passed.
The 5 rubealis ponies frozen in the green crystal might still be there, alive."
~~~
“Oh my Celestia..” Twilight's jaw dropped. The story was much more complex than she remembered it.
And the fact that they might even still be alive? After 50 years!?
The unicorn mare sighed. This was just a tale. Nothing to actually worry about.
This was just like the Nightmare Moon incident a few years ago. But the story about the mare in the moon was true, though.....
Twilight shook her head. 50 years is just too long. They would both have suffocated if the story was true. And if they are still there, then they are still weak. The book stated that ponies were stronger than them.
Twilight put the book back into the bookshelf. Just as she turned around, Spike forcefully put the sandwich into her mouth. "Food is kinda important for your health, and you haven't eaten much in a few days, Twi." He said, as the unicorn mare took the sandwich out of her mouth with her magic.
"Sorry Spike, I have had a lot of reading to do lately." Twilight sighed slightly as she trotted from one bookshelf to another. "Have you seen the floral book?"
"Yes, it is right here.. Why do you need it?" Spike answered, and pulled a thick brown worn out book out of the shelf.
"Princess Celestia asked me, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie, Applejack and you to help find out what happened to the plantlife on some island. There is some
kind of unnatural aura affecting the flowers and plants there." Twilight explained, and recieved the book from Spike. "So Celestia wants you and your friends to go watch flowers? And she is forcing me to go with you?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.
"Not just watch flowers. We need to figgure out what kind of magic is affecting the plants, and then it would be helpfull to know how the flowers and trees behave normally." Twilight said, and took a bite of the sandwich Spike had shoved in her face earlier. "This sandwich is tasty." She added, before opening the book.
"I have been practicing my cooking skills." Spike replied, with a proud tone to his voice.
“Could you make some more for the trip? I am sure the others would love them.” Twilight mumbled, with mouth full of bread.
“Sure!” Spike replied, before sitting down next to her.
Time progressed, and soon it was time to go to bed.
Twilight had just brushed her teeth, when a green light beamed from the library window.
She ran down, and Spike was standing there, in the middle of the room, holding out a paper scroll. “Celestia sent a letter.” He mumbled, and yawned.
Twiligt took the letter, and read it out.
“Dear Twilight and Spike,
Come visit me at the castle tomorrow to receive some equipment.
I am sure it will help you all on the island trip.
Here you have 7 train tickets to canterlot, hope to see you tomorrow.
-Celestia”
