Just run, and don’t look back. That’s what she told to do, and I ran. But I made a mistake, and I looked back just in time to see her being ripped to pieces by the creature. She didn’t even have time to scream. But I did. I stopped running and let out a shriek that could probably be heard all over Equestria. Even if it wasn’t, it was certainly heard by the terrifying beasts a couple feet behind me.

The leader of the pack snarled at me, dropping what seemed to be the remainder of my idol’s wings and baring its teeth at me. The dripping fangs were all the persuasion I needed to turn around and run. Run away faster than I’ve ever run before. Run for my life, or what was left of it. What type of life would it even be without Rainbow Dash? Without my parents? Without my friends? Not much of a life, that’s for sure. But at least I would be alive.

I wanted to run even faster, but my body was already beyond its limit. My muscles ached as I ran, panting and sweating. Tears streamed down my face as I mourned the loss of the greatest pegasus to ever live. Oh, why did I have to look back? I would have that sickening image imprinted in my brain for the rest of my life, which actually might not be that very long if those creatures caught up to me. My legs felt horrible by this point, and what’s stopping me from just giving up and dying? It’s not like there’s anything left to live for. I can’t even fly.

That doesn’t mean my wings are totally useless, though. If I flap them hard enough, they help propel me forward as I run.
