"It's Yours..."
Well...I've Learned Magic is Not a Toy [Part 1]
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Chris?" Celestia looks at me, trying to hold back her laughs. Quite frankly, I want to kick that little griffin in her cunt, but that would get me sent to jail. Or would it?
My current suit was made up of silk and a bit of cotton for the exterior of the suit while the inside of the tux's coat was lined with orange sink and the outside was red. I looked like Van Hellsing minus the hat, which made me want to look for a red fedora, but I don't think they makes those here. My pants were almost exactly like my coat but they were, well...pants. My undershirt was white, Vein wanted it to be blueberry but I don't like the color blue.
"Something funny Celestia?" I asked, resting my hands on my hips, making it look like it was a big deal. "I think I look fabulous~!"
I hear the guards behind me to start laughing, Celestia looks like she's about to explode. Funny thing really, I wasn't bisexual or anything remotely linked with me liking guys. I was straight, but I knew a good looking man when I saw one.
What?
I was raised by three women when my parents divorced. My mother, and my two 'aunts' raised me. I walked like a girl, I kinda understood girls, spoke girl almost fluently, and knew full and well what a 'goose' of a man or a 'stallion' in this case. I looked sexy as fuck right now, I could see it behind Celestia's eyes that she like what she saw. Well...I think I mean.
"Y-you have a request f-from...oh mother of me...Applej-jack..." Her face was red as my suit now.
"Oh just laugh already. I don't even know what's so funny..."
"BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!" Celestia fell onto the ground, holding her gut in laughter. Rolling my eyes, I was half tempted to jump on her and start blowing raspberries into her stomach. Now that would be fucking awesome. "Y-you look like...a stallion I once knew. A couple thousand years ago. He liked the color red so much he made a red cape, almost like your suit. 'I am the shiny warrior!' he would always shout when he would play his violin."
"Violin?" I looked down at my hands, my left was bigger than my right. Everything soon came at once, and I found myself in another place.
"Good luck sweetie!" My mother said to me.
My stomach was filled with butterflies. I was so scared. I held my half size violin in both of my arms. I was scared that I was going to play a wrong note. I watched her walk away, her fair hair bouncing as she walked to the front row. My heart was racing a mile a minute.
"Christopher?" I heard another voice call out. "Come on! We need to set up!"
Looking back down I picked up my music sheets. 'Merry had a Little Lamb', 'Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star', and our hardest piece 'Risen Eating Zombies from Outer Space' The last one took two whole months trying to learn how to play it. Our teacher, a former first chair violinist in the Grand Siberian Orchestra, kept us on our near impossible goal. We played it like pros, I think.
"Mr. Silini wants us on stage in a few minutes. Let's try to get tuned before everyone else!"
"Coming Grace!" Ah, her. She was my stand partner, always trying to get me motivated. I had a bit of a play ground crush on her. "Are you scared?"
She thought for a little bit, then nodded. Pulling her violin up to her chin, she plucked the D-string. "Kinda flat huh?"
"Try using your fine tuner." I offered while I sorted out the order we were playing our music. "I'm scared out of my mind."
She plucked the string again, it sounded just right. "Why's that?"
"I don't want to fail my mom...She made me keep practicing that part on the second paper of Risen Eating Zombies. Before the first repeat....I wish we picked Japanese Lullaby instead."
Grace giggled and nodded. "I agree...REZ is hard to play, but it sounds like a fun song to play when we'er older."
"We'er only eight...I don't get how Mr. Silini wants us to play REZ when we'er barely ready...."
"Hey, don't worry okay? We'er two rows from the back, twenty six other violinists around us. We'll be invisible..."
"Chris?"
Shaking my head a few times, I felt myself being pulled from that memory. "I-I'm fine...Just...What did AJ want?"
"What happened to you? You just fazed out there."
I shook it off with a wave of my hand. "What did AJ need from me?"
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine, okay?"
She looked a little sad then nodded. "She needs you to help her contact her grandmother."
"What about her?"
"Granny Smith passed on a few days ago, in her sleep. It is my belief that she doesn't know she's dead, and keeps going through the motions."
"Ah ha..." I frowned. "You do remember that I'm considered the lowest tear possible right? Like, I can only see the ones that want to be seen. You'd have better luck getting my mother to help Granny Smith pass on."
"Do you know how to do it?"
"Well of course, my mother trained me as much as she could, but I can't remember anything about how to set up the circle to focus my abilities. All I do remember is that my mother said it's the only way I get to hear them, not just see them." I scratched my head, probing my memories of my early childhood. "Five point star....circled....Eit...yeah...only Eit I remember."
"What does Eit mean?"
"Focus, or Sense of Focus. It's drawn in dragon's blood ink imbued into chalk." I scratched my head more, trying my best to remember without giving myself a headache. As much as I do try though, the headache still came. Rubbing my head I shook it. "Sorry, nothing more. I don't think I'll be of much help, but I guess I can still try to write out a spell."
"I'll get the tickets for the next train. My chariot's pullers have a day off today. They kept pulling in dozens of letters yesterday. Many from Zeborica about our most recent peace treaty. Many nobles in Zeborica are actually wishing to meet you."
I threw my hands up in the air. "It's deal with the Apple's dead matriarch first, okay?" Letting them fall back down, I feel a strange sensation in the back of my head. Looking towards the train, I feel it travel to my forehead. "Looks like my radar is picking up something."
"Radar?" Celestia asks with a quizzical look on her face.
"Basically, like a sixth sense. I used it to find a little girl's phone once, and I ended up finding three feet in a hole in the middle of a park. She wasn't even sure how it got there, but hey, what matters is that every human has it, but most don't even think it use it."
"Like common sense, and your lack there of??" She joked.
"Kinda, I mean, while I do use common sense, only sometime do I actually listen to it." I begin walking towards the train. "So what? We take a train to Ponyville, let me do my thing, come back in time for dinner?"
"That's the plan." She nodded. A guard stepped up to the ticket booth and brought back four tickets. Two for us and two for themselves. "Thank you Brass Beast."
I froze, shook my head and laughed a little. "Something funny about my name?"
"That's the name of a human weapon." I explained. "H'n'D type stuff."
"H'n'D?"
"Heavy and deadly."
The train ride was as much as anyone would expect. Celestia and I talked without me slipping off into a memory trip. They've been happening lately, and all I've begun to think is how far will they go. Most of it is stuff that I've long forgotten about. I thought when you forgot something, you'd forget it forever. Another headache I suppose. I could talk to Luna about it, she's like my shrink or something like it.
I suppose recovery is going well for me, aside from some slight pains in my back and shoulder. I can't really remember how they got broken, but I'm sure I'll remember how soon enough.
Stepping off of the train, I look around the town. Applejack had seemed to have bought her own ticket. She walks up to me, thanks me, and begins leading us down the path to her farm. Along our way, ponies stop and wave to us, well, mostly to Celestia. Of course she just explains she's on a visit to see the orchard and see how it's coming along. I however, I'm not even asked about my reasons to following AJ. I feel vaguely invisible, I like it. Less to deal with means less stress. Less stress equals happy life. Yep, I've got everything figured out!
Twilight does actually come and follow us, kinda nice of her. She asks me how I was dealing with the nobles, and I just told her that they all needed to die slow and painful deaths. Celestia just shakes her head, and we continue to move along. From the train station to her farm is almost two miles. Since I'm used to walking everywhere, only my feet get tired, not my knees. Those feel fine.
The farm comes up on the hill, and already I begin to feel something is strange. The air around me seems cooler, even with Celestia near me.
"I already feel it." I said softly. "But it's not warm. I don't feel safe. It's colder the closer I get."
"What do you think it is?"
"The cause of your grandmother's death." Flashes of this empty, pale face appear in my vision. "Something is very wrong about this pony... I-I shouldn't be seeing this much!" I cover my eyes, but all I can see is that empty face. Black holes for eyes and a twisted snarl of a smile. Shaking my head, I feel Celestia wrap her large wing around my body. The face vanishes, but not the memory.
"It's the magic here that's affecting your abilities Chris. Take a deep breath. This is why many unicorns teach their foals that magic is not a toy. Serious things can manifest later on."
"L-like a late bloomer..." I say, giving a small nod. Her wing leaves and the face returns.
Forsaken... It speaks. No pity...
"It's a pegasus..." I said, now able to see more of the body. "It's old...very old..."
Stupid mud ponies...
"Very racist."
"A farm filled with earth ponies...h-he...He hates them..." I walk towards the house, dragging my feet in the ground, leaving two long lines in the dirt behind me. "Mud ponies...he says. He hates them all. I-I don't think I can handle this..."
Applejack comes around and looks up at me with a very serious face. "Please, Chris, my family needs you."
Swallowing, I give a small nod. She's right, her family needs me to help them feel better. My mother always told me to help those that are lost. Granny Smith is grounded here, and cannot pass on. "Y-yeah...I think he's the reason why your grandmother is still here."
Her face becomes filled with anger. She snorts and looks around. "Chris? Are you okay?"
"No, but I need to keep going." That I do. They follow me as I circle around the home. I drag my right foot the entire way around it until it completes the ring. "He can't pass through this area. It's protected...lots of magic here in this building."
"Earth pony magic takes time to settle into the ground. Once it does, it becomes very powerful, the more that are in one spot. Fifty earth ponies alone can equate to my magic level." Twilight said. "Many generations lived and died at this spot, even before the Apples took the land. Historical records showed that ten other families lived here before they were forced out by timberwolves."
"This pegasus is older than what you might think....I see night...very dark..."
"The day of my sister's fall and banishment to the moon, many ponies tried to smite her down, only to be slaughtered. They were foolish to attack a demonic spirit that manifested in an alicorn."
"This helps..." I say while I studied the outside of the ring. "A city atop a hill...or in this case a home. Elevated locations are unreachable by demons. Back on earth, we used to say a prayer to help rid of demonic spirits, by evoking a holy or even divine spirit. Many preferred a holy spirit by the name of Michael, the third son of a god named Yehuwah. May I have permission to being the prayer inside your home?"
"Anything to help Granny!" Applejack nodded.
"Alright, I need some salt water, and two sticks and a bit of string."
Applejack works fast getting the items I required. It takes but a few minutes for her to run to a tree and get a couple of fallen sticks. One of them was a little too long so I had to break a bit off, but I was able to tie the two sticks, making a cross.
"I don't have a holy book, so I'll need to um....Make up my own spell I guess." As they begin to follow me inside, I shake my head. "No, I need to be alone. Once I've blessed the inside of the home, I'm going to get into some real trouble if I'm right about my abilities."
"What'll think happen?" AJ asks with a worried look.
"Worst case, I end up passing out and the soul of this pegasus goes to battle with me. If he wins, he takes my body, if I win, he goes to whatever kind of hell you guys have here. Tartarus I think."
"Best case?"
"I can't really say the best thing, but if there was, I would tell you." I say with a shrug, careful not to tip the salt water out of the small cup in my hands.
I enter the home alone, it feels empty, but it also feels like something's here. I begin my prayers.
"My name is Christopher Robins,
I call upon the Archangel Michael,
son of Yehuwah.
May he help bless and protect this home
from all evil that may wish to reside.
Let the holy spirit flow through this home,
let the good grow and bless this home,
let the evil that lives die, and send it to hell.
The house begins to rumble, something that I wasn't expecting at all. I began seeing different faces, many of them were empty, hollow, and cold looking. One stood out in the end of the line of faces. Just a lone face in all of them. This one had more than just a face, in fact it wasn't as much as an image as it was a physical shape. Standing off across the room from where I stood, I saw a pegasus, the pegasus.
I continue with my prayers.
"In the light, there is no evil
in the light, there is no darkness for shadows to crawl in.
May the light of the Spirit of Michael, slayer of demonic wills,
may it spread forth, and protect this household."
I look directly at the ghost, narrowing my eyes. "Forsaken wrench, you have murdered a helpless soul."
The ghost flashed a toothy grin at me, stepping closer. As he grew closer, more and more color was brought to him. "You survive this trip, you will see me kill your wife Celestia." It began laughing. "I'm not dead, not for a long time."
The world was twisting, graying out and losing all color. "By the way, it's nice to see another me. Now I know why Celestia loves you...She still misses me."
"N-not again..." I gasped out before falling onto the ground. I felt my heart slowing, everything was going dark. "He...e-...p"
Author's Note
