Chapters Doctor Whooves: You Want Me to do What?
Sunset Shimmer gulped as she sat down at the lunch table. She had promised to babysit the Crusaders for Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash. She really figured she'd be able to, as she didn't have anything scheduled. But, when Principal Celestia said she'd be the perfect student liaison for Canterlot High when visiting Cloudsdale High, and it just happened to land on the same day that she had promised to babysit the Crusaders.
And, being the liaison for Canterlot High was a once in a life-time experience, one that Sunset was completely honored to be asked for. After all, after destroying the school entrance, and turning into a she-demon, she had done a complete overhaul, and, most students got along with her now, which made her happy. But, she was upset with letting her friends down. She just hope they’d understand.
“Are you alright darling?” Rarity asked, causing Sunset to look up from her food. “You look upset about something.”
“Well,” Sunset began, twirling her spoon in her mashed potatoes, “something has come up.”
“Like what?” Pinkie Pie asked, who was turning her mash potatoes into a castle.
“You see, Principal Celestia got a hold of me yesterday.” Sunset explained. “She said that she’d like me to be the student liaison for Canterlot High when she visits there.”
“And, why are ya upset b’ that?” Applejack asked.
“Well, it’s the time frame.”
“What’s the time frame?” Rarity asked.
“It’s… Saturday.” Sunset said, reluctantly.
Rainbow Dash looked up. “Like Saturday, as in, this Saturday?”
“Yeah.” Sunset acknowledged.
“Well, did you accept?” Rarity asked.
Sunset sighed. “That’s a yes.” Rainbow said, bluntly.
“Well, you see,” Sunset began, “this is a big opportunity for me. Ever since the Fall Formal, I haven’t been able to do many school programs, and it is understandable. So, when Principal Celestia offered me this position, how could I refuse?”
“By saying no?” Rainbow Dash said, folding her arms.
“Well, what about you?” Sunset said, “After all, once you found out Scootaloo was homeless, you took no time adopting her, and yet, you rarely spend time with her!”
“I have a life too, ya know!” Rainbow exclaimed, slightly rising from the table
“And yet, I’m not allowed to have one?!” Sunset shouted back, doing the same as Rainbow.
“Ladies, ladies, stop bickering!” Rarity shouted, “You almost adults, act like it!”
Sunset and Rainbow glanced at each other, and sat back down, a look of shame on both their faces. “Sorry Rainbow.” Sunset said.
“I’m sorry too,” Rainbow replied, “I shouldn’t have been selfish.”
Applejack then cut in, “Look, the problem is, this is too short notice, who can we get to babysit by Saturday? It’s only three days away!”
“And, for an all day time, no less.” Rarity added.
Sunset thought for a moment. “I think I know someone.”
“Who?” Rainbow asked.
Sunset smirked. “Take a guess.”
The other girls’ eyes widened. “No.” Rainbow said.
“Out of the question!” Rarity exclaimed.
“You’re kiddin’ right?” Applejack asked.
“I’m not joking.”
“I don’t want him around my little sister!” Rarity said. “Who knows what crazy thing could happen with him there.”
“Same here!” Rainbow said.
“An’ me!” Applejack concurred.
“What other choice do you have?” Sunset asked.
The girls exchanged glances, before Rarity said, “Alright fine, but, make sure we see him on Saturday first, I want to set some ground rules.”
“Me too.” Rainbow and AJ said, simultaneously.
“Okay, makes sense.” Sunset said.
“But, where should he babysit them? Ah’ don’t want ma’ sister in that machine of his.” Applejack said.
“He can babysit them at my house.” Sunset offered. “He’s familiar with it.”
“Okay, I say that works.” Rarity said.
“So, eleven o’ clock, Saturday morning?” Rainbow asked.
“Sounds good.” Sunset agreed, “I have to leave at noon. I’ll give him call after school.”
Doctor Whooves: You Want Me to do What?
When Sunset was walking home on Thursday, she dialed the Doctor’s number. “Hello?” She said when the phone was picked up.
“Sunset!” The Doctor exclaimed, who was in the TARDIS, hauling around a giant stuff polar bear. “Did you know that there’s a stuffed teddy bear that weighs over six hundred kilos? I found it in the Guinness World Records over of Twenty Seventy Nine. Apparently, this man collected stuff animals for his entire life, and when he died, his kids and grandkids unstuffed them, and then, turned them into one giant teddy bear! The British Government decided to reboot the old Frost Fair, just in tribute to this teddy bear! When I was there I couldn’t help, but buy a miniature version. Now, when I say miniature, it’s really weird, as it’s three feet tall!”
“Doctor, could you come to my home, by this Friday?” Sunset said, crossing a street.
“Why? Is something wrong?” The Doctor asked, dropping the teddy bear.
“No, nothing wrong, I just need your help with something.”
“This isn’t prom again, is it?” the Doctor asked.
“No, no, nothing so drastic besides, it’s only once a year.” Sunset said.
“Well, you never know, after all, they could do another one.” The Doctor replied. “But, what is it you need help with?”
“I’ll tell you when you get here.” Sunset said.
“Okay, what date is it?”
“The twelfth of May.” Sunset replied.
“What year?” The Doctor asked.
“Twenty fifteen.”
"Alright, I'll see you soon." The Doctor hung up.
"Wait, Doctor!" She looked at her phone, then shoved it in her pocket. "Typical."
When she entered her home, she her a voice say, "Well, at least you only have one mirror," Sunset looked into her bathroom, and saw the Doctor standing in front of her mirror. He was wearing his typical blue coat and pants, but wore a simple purple dress shirt. "Clara's face is so wide, she needs three mirrors." He stood up, and strolled into the kitchen opening the fridge.
"I told you to be here tomorrow." Sunset said, following him into the kitchen.
"Then why did you tell me today's date?" The Doctor asked, grabbing a bottle of soda, and opening it, taking a swig.
"I thought you'd figure it out and come tomorrow." Sunset replied, closing her fridge.
"Well, I can't remember the entire conversation." The Doctor walked over to the living room, and plopped down on the black leather couch, grabbing the TV remote, and scrolling through channels.
"Either way, I'm glad you came." She sat down on the couch beside him, and noticed the TARDIS sitting in a corner.
"What is it with modern television?" The Doctor asked. "What happen to the days of Abbot and Costello? Or even MTV? You don't even have a BBC channel."
"Well, there's BBC America, but, I haven't been able to afford it." Sunset said.
"Why not?" The Doctor asked, turning the TV off, and standing up. "It's not like it costs an arm and a leg. Trust me, I almost lost those back in the sixteenth century, when trying to make a deal with a man for some fish."
He walked into Sunset's room, and sat on the bed. "Is this a water bed?"
"Yes, it is." Sunset acknowledged.
"How do you sleep on these?" the Doctor asked. "The surface moves up and down every time you roll over. It's like sleeping on a jellyfish."
"Doctor, aren't you wondering why you're here?" Sunset asked, sitting down next to him.
"There, you see?" The Doctor said, gesturing toward her. "The bed just shifted. You can't even sit on it without it moving." The Doctor stood up, and walked back into the living room, sitting on the couch once again.
"Doctor, did you hear my question?" Sunset asked, sitting next to him.
"Of course I did, I'm just choosing to ignore it, as your answer to 'why am I here?' will probably be something I don't like." He looked at her. "After all, last time you called me, it was about prom night, I hope it's an alien problem, those I like."
Sunset turned to him, and sighed, opened her mouth and,
"Ah, you see, you sighed, meaning I was right. It is something I won't like." The Doctor said, jabbing a finger at her. "Humans you are so predictable." He stood up and walked over to the TARDIS, opening the door, Sunset following him. As they walked along the entree hallway, the Doctor continued, "Now, I know, you're not actually human, you have unicorn DNA, which had been put in a blender and molded to make you seem human, but, you're still predicable." He walked up a set of stairs, grabbed a book, and sat down on the recliner sitting there.
"Do you even want to know why you're here?" Sunset asked.
The Doctor sighed, "Go ahead."
"I need you to do me a favor." Sunset said.
"Go on."
"I need you to babysit for me."
The Doctor looked up, closing the book. "Babysit?"
"Yes." Sunset said, slightly leaning her head back.
"Whom?"
"The Crusaders."
"Crusaders?"
"You know, Rarity's sister, Sweetie Belle, Applejack's sister, Applebloom, and Rainbow Dash's adopted sister, Scootaloo."
The Doctor stood up, book in hand, and walked down toward her. "Why?"
"Well, I was going to do it myself, but, I had something come up, and can't do it anymore." Sunset explained.
"Why don't you hire a professional babysitter?" The Doctor asked.
"It's too short notice," Sunset explained, "We wouldn't be able to get anyone."
"So you called me?" The Doctor asked.
"Yes."
"To ask me to babysit for you?"
"Yes."
The Doctor nodded. He opened his mouth and said: "No." He walked up the stairs.
"What?" Sunset said, surprised.
"I know, what about Mars!" The Doctor shouted, gesturing toward a blackboard. "The Ice Warrior hives. Or, the Tumescent Arrows of the Half Light, those girls can hold their drink, and fracture sixteen different levels of reality simultaneously!"
Sunset walked up the stairs, folding her hands. "Doctor, I know you don't want to do this, trust me, I didn't want to either when I said I would, but, I knew they'd want me to. And, these girls are a handful, but, considering you've dealt with Daleks, and Changelings, and Cybermen, I think you can handle three young girls. So, could you please do this? For me?"
She smiled slightly, and the Doctor said, "How do you do that?" gesturing toward her eyes, "It's like they just bulge out for emphasis!"
"Doctor, please?" Sunset asked.
The Doctor rolled his eyes. "All right, fine, but, only since you asked nicely!" He walked down the stairs to the console, "Not Clara, she doesn't ask. When she wanted to see Robin Hood, and I offered the same exact thing I offered you, she said 'Doctor, Robin Hood, show me, now,' she didn't even ask. She was all just rude! But, that's what you get for telling a control freak they can go anywhere."
"Robin Hood?" Sunset asked, leaning on the console, "she knows that's just a fairy tale, right?"
The Doctor opened his mouth in awe. "That is exactly what I said! Seriously, you two area polar opposites, the only thing similar to you both, is that your both kind."
"So, you'll do it?" She asked, hopefully.
"Yes." The Doctor said. "Now, get out, I'll see you tomorrow." Sunset smiled and walked out the door, and watched as the TARDIS dematerialized.
Doctor Whooves: You Want Me to do What?
Sunset came home the next day, with Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash following her. The Doctor, looking the same as he had yesterday, came up to her. "Good news! I managed to reconfigure your cable box, so, you'll be able to watch BBC America when ever you want! You can watch Jeremy Clarkson take the new Aston Martin out for a spin, or, see Gordon Ramsey curse at some people for bad cooking! Or, maybe, Detective Alec Hardy will finally solve the Broadchurch case!"
"Doctor, you remember Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash, don't you?"
The Doctor narrowed his eyes at them. "Oh, yes, the purple-haired one, the rainbow haired one, and the normal looking one." The Doctor strolled back into the living room, and sat down on the leather couch.
"We're simply here to set some ground rules." Rarity said.
"Why?" The Doctor asked, "What do you think I'm going to do, put them in the TARDIS, and take them to some planet, billions of miles away, just to see some alien species that could kill them at any second?"
"YES!!!" The three girls shouted simultaneously, catching the Doctor by surprise.
"Good, if you'd have said no, you'd be just like every other pudding-head on this planet." The Doctor said, bluntly.
The other girls sat down on the couch. "Alright, rule number one." Rarity began. "No taking the girls on adventure in your time machine. In fact, the farthest the can go away from the house is the backyard."
"Well, that's simple." The Doctor said. "Lock the TARDIS doors, and the outside doors, so they can't leave."
"Rule number two!" Rarity said. "No junk food."
"Wait a minute," Applejack interrupted. "No junk food, really? That's what you're worried about?"
"I don't want Sweetie Belle to gorge herself with food that makes her gain too much weight. Only vegetables, fruits, dairies, grains, and some kind of meat is acceptable. No junk food of any kind."
"Scootaloo's smart enough to not eat too much junk food." Rainbow Dash said. "After all, how will she be able to maintain her athletic build if she has too much junk food."
"Okay!" The Doctor shouted, "no sweets, I get it! Rule number three!"
"Keep them safe." Applejack said, "Don't get them into any trouble, or have them get hurt. Please."
"I will do that." The Doctor said, "I guarantee it."
"Good." Rarity said, "Oh, and one more thing."
"Yes?"
"We've hit a slight bump, and it'll be a sleep over."
"Hold on, what?" The Doctor asked.
"Yes, I'm afraid our slight vacation has hit a snag, and is going to be extended, so the girls will have to stay here overnight." Rarity explained.
"So, I have to take care of three kids, over night, with no help?" The Doctor asked for clarification.
"Well, no," Sunset interrupted, "I should be back here by eight o' clock, so you should have some help getting them to bed."
"Oh, well, that's a saving graze." The Doctor said. "Is that all?"
"Yes, that's all." Rarity said. "Expect them here around eleven o' clock in the morning."
"Very well." The Doctor said.
The girls stood up, and headed toward the entrance. Rarity whispered to Sunset on the way out, "Keep him in check."
One they had left, the Doctor said, "Kill me know. I'll regenerate, it's fine, just kill me now."
"Something wrong?" Sunset asked.
"It's this leather couch. Once you are on it long enough, you stick to it, so once you get up, it's rather difficult." He stood up, and walked into the TARDIS. "I'll see you tomorrow."
