Chapters Hi, my name is Timothy Reynolds and I’m 19, but most people call me Tim. My best mate’s call me Cribbs though, it’s a name I was always known by on the internet, then when I joined the army I kept it as a nickname. No, before you ask I’m not in the army, I WAS in the army a few years back, but I was a lot younger and more naive back then. I thought it would be fun to slaughter every bastard that stood before me, every asshole that wanted to cause my country pain. I was wrong.
*FLASHBACK*
I trained, and trained, and trained. Years it took to finally get out onto the field, I was always told about how horrible war was, but I always took it that the people who spoke such things just needed to man up. Unfortunately I got to see how wrong I was first hand.
It was my second day on the field, the first being a slow morning and evening of scouting an abandoned street in Iraq. It was nothing special, found a couple of IED’s, aka Improvised explosive devices but other than that nothing really worth mentioning. The next day though, was a completely different story. It was a similar task, we had to clear the way for a couple of ACP’s on foot.
And that is where the trouble started. We were taking a route through a couple of building’s to make sure that there were no fucking RPG’s hiding up on the roof or the higher levels of the apartment block. Me and my sergeant thought we heard something in the room to our left so we decided to breach. My friend Charlie or CC as we knew him got the task of rigging the explosives, it took a good minute and a half to complete the breach preparations, but when CC was done I was put in charge of the breach itself.
I moved to the side of the door and initiated the charge. CRACK! The door blew straight off its hinges and it was only about a quarter of a second after the explosion before I found myself aiming down my sights at at-least 6 Taliban insurgents. I hammered down on the trigger of my M4A1 carbine causing a hail of lead to pummel my targets; it was a matter of second before 5 of the 6 terrorists were lying on the ground shredded beyond recognition. I slung my rifle onto my back and withdrew my m1911 and held it to the head of one last cowering piece of shit. Just as I was about to pull the trigger this “person” turned and looked and me, I almost instantly realised he was young, probably early teens. This “boy” had tears running down his face and his expression begged for mercy.
I felt the knees start to buckle and my pistol started to shake as tremendous anxiety pulsated through my system. I knew I couldn’t shoot, not even after all the shit I had seen and done before I joined the army, it just felt so wrong. Just as I started to lower my pistol much to the relief of this boy I heard shouting from behind me, but before I could stop to see what was going on, the boys head literally exploded, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I turned to see CC holding a now blood and gore splattered 870mcs shotgun up against his shoulder.
“WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!” I screamed.
“I just saved your ass kid!” CC boomed back at me.
“He was so young, only a teenager! He wasn’t even armed you fucking idiot!” I lashed out with such anger.
“SHUT THE FUCK UP! DONT YOU KNOW WHEN TO BE GRATEFUL?!?!” CC was now screaming.
My sergeant was staring pure hate at me; he was never one for neither patience nor forgiveness. As I expected he approached me wielding his chrome m1911, I feared the worst but stood strong. As he finally got within arm’s reach of me he stopped dead in his tracks and stared into my eyes and said:
“Son, the army just isn’t for you.” And as he did the butt of his sidearm came into contact with my dead knocking me unconscious.
I woke up on a bench a couple blocks from my house not having any idea what happened or how I got here. I decided to walk home; As soon as I arrived I grabbed my phone and called up the base.
“Hey can I talk to my sergeant?” I asked politely.
“Name, rank, and authorization code please.” A calm voice spoke.
“Timothy Reynolds, corporal, 8149.” I said slightly worriedly.
“Okay, just give me a sec there Timothy. Um, I don’t see anything on my records sorry.”
“What do you mean?! I’ve served for 3 years now! This is bullshit!” I yelled.
“I’m sorry sir, have a nice day.” She spoke in her still calm voice as she hung up.
“No, how can this be?” I asked myself in-between sobs. I broke down altogether on my couch shutting my eyes and asking god himself to take me. I mean I had nothing left; I spent years working to get into the army just to get kicked out in an instant, that can’t be legal. I spent the next few days lying in bed sulking like a little girl, I was pathetic, I didn’t have the balls to kill that boy and now I have to pay for my weakness. I still to this day can’t decide whether making that decision makes me a better or worse person, I honestly hated myself and I didn’t know why.
I awoke the next day feeling oddly restless, I decided the best thing was to head straight for the range and get some of the anger out of my system. I didn’t feel hungry, just angry, at whom? I have no idea, I just felt overwhelmingly angry.
I grabbed my wallet, put on my black shirt and pants, the shirt had a sort of multicoloured lightning bolt consisting of blue, yellow, and blue coming out of a white cloud, I thought the design was quirky and unique; I had received it as a gift from Harry on 18th birthday, about a year before he passed on. I clicked my holster into place around my chest and slid my m1911 into it with a spare magazine strapped to the side of the holster. I was never on the wrong side of the law myself, but I sure saw a lot of stuff that was. I didn’t want to take any chances in this brutal world. As soon as I was old enough I got myself a carry permit and the same m1911 I still own, its matte black without any marking except the .45 ACP on the ejection port. I have 2 notches where a knife has been dragged down the side of the slide, indicating the lives of two unfortunate thugs who thought they could rob me.
I found myself picking up my iPod and listening to dubstep, it seems to have a positive effect on me whenever I’m stressed. The dirty bass drops just seem to help me let go of my stress and just relax.
I exited the house and locked my three separate padlocks with my 3 different keys. You never know in this city, Oh yea forgot to mention I live in Detroit? Well, I do. Well actually DID but I’m getting to that.
Anyway, I was walking along the street with my head bouncing up and down listening to some dubstep my old pal Harry sent me before he died a few months back. Some artist called; TheLivingTombstone. It was really catchy and wasn’t long before I found myself singing the song as it repeated over and over.

Wow, that song is really awesome, I thought to myself. I looked up to see the range right in front of me.
“Ha, great timing.” I said aloud.
I felt oddly uneasy as I entered and walked up to the counter.
“Um, I’ll have 50 rounds.” I said.
“That’ll be $50 or $35 if you’re a member.” The man behind the counter said with a rough sounding voice.
I smiled and passed him my membership card and $35 in cash.
“Cheers.” I said as he slid a box of ammunition and a Glock 17 under the rail into the shooting range.
“Happy shooting.” He huffed with a hint of sarcasm.
I walked through the now unlocked gate up to my lane, man this place was packed today.
I picked up the Glock, slid the magazine in and racked the slide with a satisfying CLUNK. I aimed down the sights and fired with incredible accuracy into a paper picture of a zombie.
“Holy shit boy, you’re pretty good with that thing!” I heard the man at the counter call out, but I didn’t turn my head. The picture of the zombie had about 9 shots within the centre of its head; it was a nice grouping, even for me.
I was in my zone now; I looked up as the zombie target circled the railing and got replaced by a picture of a young insurgent. My fists curled up into a balls and I dropped the Glock onto the small counter in front of me. I was angry, very angry. I grabbed my m1911 out of my holster and fired 6 rounds into the lifeless picture screaming with grief. Everyone in the range; about 14 people were staring at me wide eyed.
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ALL LOOKING AT!?!?!” I yelled.
Everyone seemed to cower as I panted and stared hate at them, they had no idea I was now in the middle of a psychotic episode.
*FLASHBACK*
It all started when I was about 9, I started to really press my grandmother about what really happened to my parents, I was always an orphan and never once saw my mother or father. However my grandmother knew this day was coming and feared it greatly, she had to tell me the truth. So she did, she told me about how her daughter left home at 15 and never came back. How 11 years later she got a letter from her daughter apologizing for everything and begging her to take care of her new son. I found out about how I stayed in an orphanage for 4 months before grandma could take me in. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing; I was only 9 so I was too young to comprehend what was going on. I thought nothing of it until I was 13, that’s when I started questioning my existence, wondering why I wasn’t excepted by my parents, getting depressed. My grandmother knew how bad I was getting and got me prescribed some really powerful anti depressants. They only made me worse, locked away all my feelings and left me an empty emotionless shell. Then one day I forgot my pill and I went to school. It wall all fine until a couple of “bullies” decided to mess with me, I was never a scrawny kid, I was tall and well built but I barely ever talked, it was an odd combination of traits to have, and that’s what the bullies tried to take advantage of.
I took the abuse, knowing I was better, knowing that all this abuse would do is strengthen my shell. I had got used to taking shit from others ever since I became depressed, but these kids made one very, very bad decision.
“Hey retard!” one of them called. “Go run off to your mommy!”
And that was all it took, I stood up and grabbed him by the throat with my left hand as I shouted into his face.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY MOM?!” I bellowed. The kid instantly lost his smile and starting panicking, but he didn’t let up as he had never seen me get violent before and probably just thought I was playing an aggressive game of chicken.
“I said go run off to your Mommy you little shit!” the boy said with a sudden burst of courage and a sly smile printed across his face.
I didn’t say anything, I tried to back off, but I couldn’t. My arms started shaking violently but not with sorrow or regret, but hate. I raised his face right up to mine, he was only about 5 ft, 1 and stared into his eyes, he knew I wasn’t fucking around and started to squirm.
“Henry, help me you prick!” the squirming scum back shouted at an even shorter and paler version of himself. Only two words escaped my mouth.
“No. More.” I said with hate searing into his soul. And with those words finally after what felt like a lifetime of waiting I snapped. I tightened my grip around his collar with my left hand, balled my right fist up and socked him in the stomach. The boy started crying but I couldn’t care less, I kept on ramming my fist into his gut until I heard a sickening crunch which was an obvious indication of at least one rib being broken. He started coughing up blood so I dropped him to the ground and reared my foot back in anticipation,
“FUCK!” I yelled as I was knocked onto the ground by an unknown force. I looked up to see his friend, “Henry” punching me in my chest. He was strong for a short kid to be able to knock me over but his blows weren’t effecting me much. I tried to push him off me but as soon as he realised I what I was trying to do he jumped off me and rammed his boot down onto my throat.
“ARGHHHHHH,” I shrieked in pain I looked down and saw blood pooling out of my neck and onto the concrete. At this point I didn’t have any control over my body any longer as my rage took complete command over me, I stood up bleeding profusely and threw a quick blow at him, it connected with his jaw causing him to stumble to the ground.
“Son of a bitch,” I heard him mumble.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY?!” I was now starting to both tear up and scream.
“I-I-I’m sorry!” he yelled through sobs of pain. He looked up at me with a bloodied nose and tears in his eyes.
“Wha-what have I done!” I yelled in a sort of hushed tone. I had come back to my senses and the first thing I see is a battered kid with a bloodied nose and another unconscious boy to my left. I panicked and started running off home, I had no idea how I let myself do that or why I couldn’t take back control of my body but it scared the shit out of me. I also felt oddly smug about the fact that I finally stood up for myself, but that thought was soon shot down as I couldn’t believe that I would think something of the sort after what just happened. I couldn’t tell grandma she would flip out, probably ground me for a month, she might even disown me like my parents did.....
END OF FLASHBACK
I’ll spare you the details but long story short, she did find out, I did get in ALOT of trouble, but she was my only family so of course she didn’t disown me. But this sort of thing did keep happening constantly through my teen years till this very day. Anyway, back to the confusing shooting range scene.
“WELL?! WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!?!” I was out of my mind. One man stood up and walked up to me.
“It’s ok bro, calm down. And for Pete’s sake put that thing away.” He said in an almost soothing voice. It worked on me for a second and I started to lower my pistol before my anger took hold again.
“Get away from me or someone will get hurt.” I said in a calm but harsh voice. The man didn’t let up and continued to walk towards me; I really wasn’t in the mood. Then as I started subconsciously contemplating whether I should kill him or not, I then heard two loud gunshots, me and everyone else in the room looked towards where the sound was emanating from when we heard a two angry sounding voices start yelling for money and firearms. I couldn’t believe my eyes, people robbing... A shooting range?! I couldn’t believe how stupid they must be, but I just stood there watching the two bandits collecting money, about 9 Glocks and a few m16’s. Wow, these guys have balls. I thought to myself suddenly forgetting my own rage. These guys obviously knew what they were doing, they had tactical vests on with body armour, holstered sidearm’s and were wielding a sawn off shotgun each.
Then suddenly the inevitable happened, they head towards to door leading into the range and everyone inside started shouting for help, they both tried to charge into the room only to be stopped by a lock. The two thieves glared at the cowering man behind the counter and spoke to him sternly.
“Open ze door.” The taller one spoke up with an accent I had never heard before. I was shocked that the man at the counter didn’t have some sort of weapon to protect himself and just took this; then again these guys looked ready to kill. Just as I thought that I saw the man at the counter shake his confidently and said.
“You scum bags aren’t going anywhere!” he now had a sly smile plastered across his face.
“Oh really?” The shorter man with an equally strong and odd accent now spoke up with an evil grin and immediately pulled the trigger. *BOOM* the man at the counter’s head was no longer recognizable as one as of a persons. Despite the horrible things I had seen throughout my life this sight still made me cringe, The others in the room with me just stared for a few seconds before banging harder on an exit door which was now locked shut due to the man at the counter pressing a panic button seconds before he met his demise. The two fiends realized the situation and tried to make their next move as fast as possible; the taller one rammed his shoulder into the door leading to the range with no avail. He then just huffed at his own stupidity as he pointed his sawn off towards the hinges of the door and fired into them, these doors where probably meant to stop drunks and the normal crazies who lurk in Detroit, not organized thieves, so the door gave way immediately and I ended up standing face to face with the bandits.
He drew his sawn off to my head and spoke in a rushed voice.
“Get all your valuables and put them on the floor next to you, if we find anything on you that you didn’t hand over, we will kill you.” Everyone in the room started pulling out wallets and tearing off jewellery and watches in a panic, all except me. The tall one stood eye to eye with me and scowled at me, I returned a happy smile to him and he grew an evil smirk across his face. At this point I knew I probably wouldn’t make it out of this alive, but I wasn’t going to go without taking these bastards with me, my rage had totally subsided and was replaced with a sudden peace, I felt like this was how it was going to end all along, and I had excepted it.
The man turned to his partner and winked, I took advantage of this and drew my m1911 from my side and aimed point blank into the back of the man’s head, I couldn’t believe he hadn’t seen the pistol at my side but then again, it is a shooting range and I could tell they thought I didn’t have the balls to stand up against them. I pulled the trigger and the bullet hurled straight into the back of the bastards head, dropping his limp body to the floor. The shorter fiend reacted immediately and without taking care to aim, blind fired at me. I felt an immense pain in my shoulder as the buckshot shattered my right shoulder incapacitating me completely; I fell to the ground and saw a sig p226 being aimed straight at my face.
“Fuck you.” I said as he pulled the trigger instantly killing me.
You know how everyone seems to think that when you die you for some reason end up walking towards a bright alluring light? Yeah, they were wrong. I found myself falling, unable to open my eyes, it felt terrifying not only because I felt like the world around my was crumbling but because I suddenly thought about what would happen to me, would I fall like this for eternity? Or am I going to arrive at the gates of Hell for all the horrible things I did back on earth. I was never a religious person at all, but I found a need to pray.
“Uhm, God, I’m kind of new to this but yea, sorry for all the horrible things for I did on earth, I hope you can forgive me so I don’t have to go to Hell, Erm... amen? I felt a little better after saying that quick well... prayer? I still couldn’t open my eyes but then something remarkable happened. My eyes suddenly burst open and all the memories I had ever had flashed in front of me, everything good and bad, EVERYTHING. That’s when I saw it. My mother, looking down at me, I was obviously still a baby, probably about 6 weeks old.
“M-Mom?” I stuttered. And with that everything went dark, it felt wrong, but then I felt the air flowing through my hair, WAIT WHAT?! My eyes snapped open and I saw that I was falling to earth with incredible speed.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!” I screamed like a little girl.
*THWAK* I hit the ground with incredible force, everything went totally black.
I awoke with a yawn and opened my eyes to be greeted by those of a.... PURPLE HORSE!? And that’s where I stand right now. Looking into the eyes of a purple horse with a horn, what. The. Fuck.
I just lay in bed confused as fuck, I had absolutely no idea what was going on but I was about to find out.
“Sh-shoo!” I said in pleasant tone, beckoning the purple horse away from me.
“What are you doing?” It questioned as it tilted it’s Head to the side. I just lay there with my mouth ajar.
“D-d-did you j-just t-talk?!” I stuttered,
“Yes, I did, are you ok?” it moved it’s... Hoof? Towards my forehead.
“AHHH!! Get the fuck away from me!” I yelled as I jumped out of the bed in one swift motion and clambered to my feet, my shirt was terribly torn and barely still attached to my body, and my pants were also shredded, but not nearly as badly. I stared in shock at the now cowering brightly coloured horse and decided this was all too much; I ran for an open door and prayed to a God I didn’t fully believe in to save me. As I reached the door I felt myself stop moving, I looked down to see myself now 3 feet above the floor surrounded by what seemed to be a purple aura.
“What the hell is this shit?!” I screamed.
“P-Please calm down.” The odd horse spoke in a frightened voice. I couldn’t comprehend what was happening or make sense of any of this, but my training taught me to stand strong in stressful and possibly dangerous situations.
“Let me go.” I said bluntly, it didn’t seem happy to do so but obliged obviously fearing for its own safety. The horse began to analyze me closely; it forgot its fear and came right up to me observing my odd form.
“What are you doing?” I said with hate pouring into my tone.
“O-oh sorry.” It stuttered, turning a bright shade of red. I wasn’t quite sure how to go about asking what the fuck was going on to a talking horse, but I had to make an effort to find out where I was.
“Where am I?” I said flatly.
“Equestria, Ponyville to be exact.”
“I’m not on Earth anymore am I?...”
“Of course you are, where did you think you were?” The lavender horse said in a baffled tone.
“Wait what, that’s impossible... What the fuck is going on...” I had started sounding delirious.
“Wait, h-hahaha-BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh... Oh my sides, this is just some sick dream, oh man I really fooled myself there for a second.” I hollered now sounding completely insane. The horse’s eyes grew from a normal size to one that takes up almost the whole sclera as well; it was giving a worried quizzical stare.
“Oh my, you must have hit your head really hard.” The purple horse was staring at her feet.
“Hahahaha, you bet pal!” I was totally convinced that this was all a dream.
“Y-you’re not dreaming.” She spoke flatly.
“Why of course I am, watch this.” I spoke with a huge grin as I rammed my balled up fist into my face, falling to the ground clutching my nose.
“FUCK! W-what the HELL?!” I scream as blood starts trickling down my face.
“Let’s try that again, shall we?” I say maniacally as I stand back up, walk other to a nearby vase and smash it over my head.
“Sonofabitch.....” I mutter as I slip out of consciousness.

“Oh sweet Celestia, I need to get Fluttershy over here...” I think aloud.
‘Oh no, I totally forgot to tell the Princess, about this creature, what have I done.’ I think to myself, ‘I’ll write her a letter now!’
I levitate a quill and piece of parchment over to where I am sitting and start writing.
“Dear Celestia, I am writing this to inform you of a creature in Ponyville, from my knowledge this creature seems to be an entirely new species, I have never seen anything like it, it seems to be a bipedal creature resembling an ape, with a small mane on the top of its head. The creature seems to be sentient and able to speak although seems mentally ill at the present time, I am going to let Fluttershy tend to it and hopefully we will be able to find out more about the origins of this odd animal.

“Argh......” I mumble trying to reach my hand up to my head, only to be held back by an unknown force. My eyes jolted open taking in the current situation, the first thing I noticed was my body, I was lying on what seemed to be a table that was far too small to properly support me, I had what seemed to be brightly coloured ribbons tying my limbs down, and if that wasn’t bad enough I was naked, completely and utterly naked... brilliant.
“I think he’s waking up.” Spoke a timid voice which I didn’t recognize.
I could barely hear the voice of my pounding heart; I turned and lay frozen intently at the multiple brightly coloured horses that stood before me. As much as I wanted to stay calm my body wouldn’t let me, I started convulsing involuntarily trying to break out of my bindings, then realisation hit me, I just needed to focus, and calm down, whatever the cost. I look back to my bindings, I am sweating immensely, and It seems have reopened what seems to be previously stitched up wounds, but the adrenaline is masking all of my pain. I tense up my body making my muscles ripple, this earns a gasp from the equines on the other side of the room, I begin to push my arms up exerting all of my strength into the surprisingly strong ribbon like fabric. The material started to tear and soon ripped leaving me with both my hands free; the horses just stood wide eyed watching my antics as I now worked on removing the bindings keeping my legs down.
“Jus wut in tarnation do y’all think ya doin!” A heavy southern accent shouted, I could hear the fear in its voice, it was obviously trying to scare me into stopping, and that wasn’t going to happen.
I continued yanking and pulling at my bindings until they came lose, allowing me full access to my body, I stood up and stared down at what seemed to be a small orange horse with a blonde mane and a stretson placed comfortably over its head. The horse fell back in shock at the sheer size of me. I’m about 6 ft 4 in case you were wondering; she started pack peddling, with me walking towards it at a steady pace. It then hit a wall, causing it to fall onto its haunches, waiting to be ended, I balled up my fist and held is steadily by my side.
“Where is m-“ I was cut off by a blue blur smacking into my back, causing me to fly into the wall in-front of me narrowly missing the petrified mare about half a foot from my right. I picked myself up off the floor and inspected myself; I had a long cut down my lower left forearm which was bleeding quite heavily. I stood back up at my full height to see what seemed to be my attacker, a cyan winged horse with what seemed to be a rainbow mane standing with a smug smile directed to the rest of the equines in the room, it had the orange mare under its wing and was talking to the others in a proud tone. I walked behind it and spoke in a calm voice,
“Well, well, what do we have here?” This caught the creature off guard causing it to stumble before turning around and staring at me, horror obviously present in its eyes. Just as I said that I felt a now familiar feeling encasing my body, the purple mare was attempting to restrain me, and was succeeding, I originally didn’t want trouble, but after these sentient equines tried restraining me to a table, I knew I couldn’t trust them for shit.
I began growling low pitches sounds attempting to scare the miniature horse’s away from me, that didn’t work so I tensed up my right arm and hurled it into the purple force field containing me, this resulted in a wave of purple energy coursing through my arm and up into my body, knocking me to my knees. I can feel the odd energy pouring through my body, causing me incredible pain.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I scream as the mystical power continues to surge through my body, by this time the purple mare had dropped me and was yelling at me along with all the other equines in the room.
Then, all of a sudden, the pain stopped, the agony subsided and I felt normal again. That was until I stood up, I felt like I was on top of the world, like I could take on the devil himself, I looked down at my hands and immediately noticed something wrong. Both my hands had a pattern on that consisted of a purple circle with a large X entering and exiting the circle.
The pattern had a faint flow emanating from it and seemed to be pulsating, I looked back up at the miniature horses and saw that they had all backed away from me and were cowering on the over side of the room, I soon found why. I had glowing
purple lines all over my body, completely covering me, and I was... FLOATING?!
“What the flying fuck is going on!!!” I shouted with an aggressive tone. Surprisingly enough I didn’t get an answer, so I attempted to get myself down from my levitating position, I concentrated hard, trying to force myself back to the floor, I don’t know how I knew this would work, but I found myself full of new found knowledge. After what seemed like hours I felt the sweet sensation of solid ground against the soles of my feet, I opened my eyes to find myself standing in what seemed to be a half foot deep meter wide miniature crater, the lines no longer printed across my body, but the pattern on my palms stayed although noticeably duller.
I looked over to see all the equines now curled up crying in a corner, obviously fearing the end of their lives.
“I-“ I was cut off by what seemed to be the front door slamming open revealing a much larger equine, standing about 5 ft 8 with a horn, wings, and a radiant flowing mane. I was so caught up with the beauty of this winged “unicorn” that I didn’t notice it was charging towards me, when it stopped it stood a mere meter away from me and stared daggers at me. Her horn started glowing and I instantly doubled over in pain, it was horrendous, like being stabbed in every possible place on your body with searing hot knives.
"F-fuck me sideways..." I muttered under my breath as I passed out for the second time.
