Sudden orientation

"Ugh fuck... " the disoriented airman curses to himself as his eye lids opened and closed rapidly to get some sense of his surroundings.
All he can remember is he was working at the gate, a few cars were driving to his shack, he walked out and grabbed the ID to verify and allow entry then suddenly a bolt of lightning hit the flag pole, causing a great flash of light and the force knocking him back.

"Fucking base populace... " Harknett swears again as he heard voices talking all hushed and confused. His eyes slowly get focused as he looks to see himself surrounded by a crowd of, ponies? He rubs his eyes and looks around confused, "This lightning bolt probably put me in a coma or some shit... because I am literally tripping out."

The ponies start to talk amongst themselves until suddenly the doors burst open and the royal gaurds pour in, surrounding the military cop and point spears, one of them barks out orders, Harknett can tell this one must be the one in charge.

"Form a defensive circle around the princess! Keep your eyes on the intruder!" the captain barks out as Harknett looks up to see the royal atmosphere of the building, the glass windows, and tapestry made everything seem familiar. His brain is still on a meltdown as he tries to recognize where he was at and what is going on. He looks down to see his duty gear still on, meaning he still had his radio, his asp baton, M9 and M4, he knew these were going to be a problem in trying to be peaceful.

"Excuse me but I am lost, I don't know where I am and whats going on. Honest, I come in peace." he sighs at knowing he said the most cliche well known line that almost any foreign traveler to a new world would say.

"Is that so stranger?" A soft but authoritative voice spoke out as he turns to see who spoke, but when he saw who it was, his eyes grew wide and everything clicked.

"Holy shit... your... your Princess Celestia!" He immediately stood at attention and saluted, even though the gaurds bowed before her when she took single steps down her throne.

"That is I, and what, may I ask... are you?" she asked as she approached him, her head nearly dwarfing his height by nearly an inch. For Chris, the height factor wasn't the issue, what the real issue was that this was a highly intelligent powerful being that could destroy him if need be, and right now, being incinerated with magic wasnt on his to do list.

"I... I am..." He tried to put the words together to make it sound as non ridiculous as possible.
'Fuck this, whatever I say is going to be unbelievable anyways. Might as well just say fuck it and tell the truth.'

He takes a deep breath and makes his intro, "My name is Airmen First Class Chris Harknett of the United States Air Force Security Forces. I am Human born from Earth and I know who you are and what this place is because most of you are from a TV show that a very intelligent woman created."

He closed his eyes as Celestia evaluates him closely, 'Eeyup... im fucked.' He thinks to himself as Celestia inches closer to his face, he feels a bead of sweat escape the lining on his beret and slide down the left side of his face, suddenly Celestia backs away and smiles.

"Welcome to Castle of the Two Sisters." She says as Chris remembers the name, his eyes shift to the right away from Celestias gaze as he starts to think to himself,

'Castle of the Two Sisters... oh shit! This must be... a thousand years before Twilight, and... pre dating nightmare moon.'

Celestia notices Chris under duress and lowers her head to look at Chris in the eyes, "Is something the matter Sir Chris?"

He looks to see Celestia staring at him and he shakes his head, "Its fine Princess, just under some though. Tell me... uhhhh where is Luna if I may ask?"

Celestia was confused as to how this strange human knew about her sister, "How do you know... oh yes, you said you know about us already. I need to ask you more questions regarding that subject but come! I'm sure you must be exhausted from your... journey is it?"

The Airmen nods and looks around as the ponies try to get an eyeful of the strange visitor in their lands, the gaurds ease up on their attack stance and form a perimeter around the princess and the human as Celestia dismisses the audience.

"So... if I may ask again. Where is Luna?" Chris asks as Celestia looks at him curiously,

"She is in her room, why do you ask?" She asks him as Chris looks up at the Sun through the glass ceiling, for he knows whats coming, but right now he wanted to keep it low key.

"Just wanting to see the Princess of the Night, I mean its not everyday a loyal follower be sent to Equestria and see his favorite Princess do they?" He smiles, bullshitting to the Princess that probably can figure it out straight up, but Celestia laughs and apparently doesn't see it.

"Of course, but she is up in the watchtower, getting her rest for tonights moon raising duty." Celestia explains as Chris puts on a fake smile and chuckles softly as he lets it slowly die down.

Celestia and her gaurds lead Chris to a spare castle suite, "I think this will be suitable, dont you think?"

Chris looks around, "Much better than the living accomodations I had back in my world. Much larger grandeur if I say so myself. Thank you very much Princess."

She nods and smiles, "If you need anything... Sir Chris, feel free to call to my servants, they will be instructed to take care of you until we can figure out what you are useful for."

Chris nods, "Also just call me Chris with all due respect Princess." He smiles as Celestia returns the gesture, he stands at attention and salutes her.

"If you don't mind me asking, what is it that your doing?" She asks, curious about his salute.

He looks at his right hand and laughs, "Oh i'm sorry Princess, what i'm doing is a salute, its a form of respect shown to people of higher rank and authority, and since your a princess I salute you as a form of respect. I mean I could bow but it would be odd for me."

She nods in understanding, "I see, already you are teaching me new things about yourself that I never could have prepared for. Enjoy your rest... Chris."

He smiles, "Thank you Princess... Good day to you."

Celestia closes the doors, when she is out of earshot he sets down his rifle and gear to pick up his radio and clicks on the whisper mic talk button,
"BDOC, Echo 1 radio check?"

He waits for a response but got nothing, he clicks on the talk button and repeats the same message, "BDOC, Echo 1 radio check?"

Still nothing, he sighs and turns off the radio, "Shit... they will probably list me as dead or missing back at home... my birds going to be taken and i lost all my games and other stuff. Well better make due here..."

He looks around to gain familiarity of his surroundings, taking off his beret and setting it down on a desk, he walks out to the balconey and watches the sun set, "At least Celestia was gracious enough to grant me a beautiful view."

He smiles and watches the sky change colors from a beautiful orange to a shade of violet then a darker blue as he hears the doors open on another location, he looks up to the watch tower to see a dark blue mare enter the balconey and spread her wings. He looks closely to see that it was the mare he was looking for, Princess Luna.

"Oh wow... thats Princess Luna!" he yells out loud, but then covers his mouth as he may have said that a little too loud, as the Princess of the Night caught sight of the unknown intruder and swoops down to him, like an eagle locked target with her prey as she lands in front of him, spreading her wings wide as he was caught by surprise and fell backwards.

"WHO ARE YOU?!" Luna boomed in her royal canterlot voice, he remembers how Luna used the voice during the episode of Luna Eclipse but hearing it close up? Damn it was worse than being under an F16 jet during take off.

"What???" He yells out as he was temporarily deaf, he tries to rub his ears to gain his hearing back but Luna repeats her question making it even harder for him to understand what she was trying to say.

"Stop using your royal voice! I cant hear what you're trying to say!" He yells at her as she scowls at him.

"Fine. Who and what are you? Speak quickly hairless monkey!" She says, interrogating him with a harsh like tone.

He shakes his head, rubbing his ears then finally regaining his composure, "Well I did meet your sister, and I am a human, not a hairless ape. My name is Chris Harknett, I am an airmen first class in the United States Air Force Security Forces."

Luna looks at him not sure whether to believe him or not, "Trust me your sister did the same thing. I got the eye thing too."

The dark princess looks away but regained her sight on the human as she sighs, "I don't know what a 'Security Forces' but if my Sister says you are welcome then I have no say in the matter."

Chris automatically knew from that sarcastic tone in the word sister that the process was already beginning, "Well if it makes you feel better, I would like to see you raise the moon. I think the moon is the most beautiful celestial body to look at besides the sun, I mean the sun can blind you but the moon is so... relaxing..."

Luna looks at him with a hopeful expression, she never could've expected a random stranger, a human, being appreciative and wanting to bask in her light, HER MOONLIGHT. She walks forward to him, with tears forming in her eyes as she suddenly puts her head against Chris' chest, he looks at her and smiles warmly as he embraces her.

"No pony has ever wanted to see the moon being raised, they never acknowledge me... but I see that you are different." Luna says, her voice wavering as emotions were taking hold of her. Chris knew from then on, promising himself and to Princess Luna unknowingly to her, that he will do whatever it takes, to prevent the transformation of Nightmare Moon, prevent the 1000 year banishment and by god, he will get the ponies to give Luna the appreciation and attention she deserves.

"The ponies do enjoy the moon, they always do Luna." He reassures her as Luna looks up to him,

"But how do you know?" She asks him as Chris thinks to himself,

"Call it a gut feeling. A term humans use to explain further knowledge." He quickly explains since he is in a world that would date back to Earth period medieval times.

From afar, Celestia watches the two hold each other in an embrace, she smiles and turns to walk inside her royal chambers to write an entry in her private journal, "I feel this human may benefit us all."

Author's Note

Well then, ever since seeing the animation to the song Lullaby for a princess I had to write a story about it, adding a human to it no doubt. Any who if you haven't seen the video please check it out, its a good video but sad at the same time.

Can the future be reset? Will there be an era without the existence of Nightmare Moon?
