The Immortal Human
De-escalate
Previous ChapterNext ChapterFrom the balcony, Chris watched Luna as she used her magic to raise the moon, her attitude upon returning to him was cheerful and less negative than when he first met her. He was glad of that, it means that he could possibly prevent Nightmare Moon from ever happening. He sighs in relaxation as he stares out into the night sky, enjoying the moon light that encompassed his room. Luna lands gracefully with a big smile upon her face,
"How was it? Did you enjoy it?" She asked with a happy tone, Chris knew better and he responded with honest words but words that Luna wanted to hear as well.
"The moon looks so full and amazing. It is a better sight than when I see it high up in the sky at night back where I come from." He says while he turns to look at her.
Luna blushes, still new to the whole appreciation and recognition of her work. "I am... very pleased to hear. Even though the compliments come from a strange creature, a human such as yourself, it still means a great deal to me. Thank you."
He looks to the moon and props on his elbows as he imagines the shadow of the mares head, something he doesn't want to see tainting the moon, never will it happen.
"No... thank you Luna." He suddenly has a few tears slide down his face as he realizes this and wipes it away, but Luna isn't ignorant, she notices and looks up to him.
"Is something the matter... Chris?" She asks, concerned for her new friend.
He smiles and nods, "I'm fine Luna... Thank you for asking."
They both hear a knock on the door, "Who the hell?" Chris says annoyed as he goes over and opens the door to see a royal guard with a letter in his mouth.
Chris looks at the guard as the pegasus guard stares back, Chris slowly reaches out and grabs the royal scroll as the guard snorts and turns in a 180 degree fashion, a human equivalent of the military facing movement about face and continues his routine patrol.
"Hmmmm odd." He closes the doors as Luna walks in to his room and looks at the scroll, "Well what is it? Open it."
Luna demands with a sense of urgency, Chris looks up at her with a worried look as he unties the scroll and opens it, he starts to read the first line.
"To the Human Chris Harknett,
You will appear before Her Majesty Princess Celestia of Equestria
at the morning hours of 7 am for a private breakfast. Your attire for the day will be what you have now.
Arrive a quarter to the hour to be seated and ready."
Luna looks over the scroll curiously as he continues to read, "Well? What does it say?"
Chris looks up at her as he sighs, "Well it looks like i've been invited to a... royal breakfast correct, by your sister?"
Luna growled low as she turns away and walks out to the balcony, Chris' eyes went wide as that sent a red flag in his mind,
"Whoa now... what was that?" he asked her, he follows behind her as he maintained his distance, Luna didn't answer as she looks out into the vast distance.
"Luna..." Chris asks again but was shocked and definitely concerned by what came next,
"WHAT?!?!" Luna boomed out angrily as he saw tears in her eyes, her teeth bared, seething and a hostile aura was coming out of her as he went down on one knee.
"Luna... somethings wrong... I sensed it ever since I mentioned your sister, i've been feeling negative energy coming from you. Whats wrong?"
Even though to Chris its a rhetorical question, he knew what was wrong, he knew why Luna felt such hostility towards her older sister, but that was going to change, he was here with the knowledge of whats to come and he is going to do whatever it took to change the future.
Luna takes deep breathes, seething in anger as she lets the tears stream down her face, "Its always, Celestia this, Celestia that, oh I love how she brings out the sun, I love the day time! Its never, the night is so beautiful, oh such a wonderful moon! NO! Its always Celestia, Celestia, CELESTIA!!!"
She slams her hoofs down on the ground causing a crater to form, making several jagged cracks, he gets knocked down flat on his ass as he looks up at the princess of the night, her form growing dark and malevolent as he gets up and embraces her, pulling her in a deep hug, " Luna stop please! Please don't do this! I know how you feel! I felt this sibling jealousy, I wasn't the best, I was the first born yet always ignored, my youngest sister had it all, she was the perfect child. But my sister loved me still, she would do anything for me."
Lunas eyes shut tightly as she starts to cry, "Luna please i'm begging you, Celestia loves you, I know she does, she cares about you deeply and would do anything for you."
Luna lets out a wail of sorrow as Chris lets out a few tears of his own, Lunas emotions were so powerful his heart broke at her pain as he took the pain of isolation from her and added it to his own. He looks up to see Celestia looking down at them, a worried expression on her face as she had a tear of her own coming down her face.
He mouths the words, "Please... give Luna the love she deserves."
She spoke in his mind, "I will Chris, thank you for your kindness."
-
It was around 0630 in the morning, but really who could tell, at least for Chris his watch was working, but he had to figure out a way to charge his phone. Thank god he had his phone charger in his cargo pocket during his shift, "Looks like not following the SSIs when it comes to unauthorized items does come in handy."
He gets his uniform on, putting on his sand colored t-shirt, his olive green socks, his ABU pants, blackhawk sage green boots, his ABU top and grabs his beret. He looks over to see the form of Luna, sleeping soundly as he walks to her, trying to be silent. Noticing her covers are off, her slowly tucks her in and rubs her mane. Seeing her in this form reminded him of the animation video for the song lullaby for a princess, her young form asleep, he sniffs trying to hold back his tears, unable to he silently cries. He covers his eyes with his free hand as he lets it out, he wipes his tears away and strokes her gently, getting an ear flick from the tired princess in response.
"May all your dreams be sweet tonight
Safe upon your bed of moonlight
And know not of sadness, pain, or care
And when I dream, I'll fly away and meet you there
Sleep..."
He remembers the words and sings them softly to Luna, unaware she heard everything, he looks at his watch and saw it is 0645, he gets up and walks out quickly, as the door closes Luna gets up and looks at where Chris' body used to lay and she wonders to herself.
"What was the human dreaming about? Me turning into this creature... this Nightmare Moon? Does he know of the future? Is that why he is being very appreciative and nice to me? And what of the song?" Luna rolled out of bed as she walks to the balcony, seeing the crater she made, remembering her outburst of anger. She spreads her wings and takes flight to enter her own room, many questions filled her mind as she opens her journal and begins to write of last nights events.
In the hallway
The loud clomps of the boots echoed throughout the halls as the young airman ran to find the dining hall, "Shit maybe I should've woken up earlier, this place is fucking massive! Why does the show make this place seem easy to navigate?"
He asks a royal guard that was doing sentry duty if he could point in the direction of the dining hall. The unicorn pointed down a different hallway, Chris thanked the guard as he saw the royal banners and a cook walking through the tall doors, he stops and straightens himself out, takes a few deep breathes and walks in to see Princess Celestia, and a table full of her royal staff.
He looks to find one empty seat, and that is right next to the captain of the guard, "Fuck." he curses silently as he makes his way over to the empty seat, he looks over to the Princess and bows low.
"My apologies Princess, I was lost." he confessed as he takes his seat, he noticed one of the more uptight regal ponies whisper to another pony all the while looking at him and snickering.
"Oh i'm sorry I didn't know whispering and talking shit was a thing here." he says loudly as the gossiping pony clears his throat and looks away.
Chris sighs at his outburst, "I'm sorry Princess, im... rather outspoken. I hold nothing back and i'm honest about everything." he explains as Celestia smiles.
"It is quite alright Chris. Now this breakfast is held to welcome you to this wonderful land. I feel it is more of a... professional way of getting to know you better." She summarizes as Chris somewhat understood the motive behind this.
"Ah... I see..." he nods in understanding, looking at the ponies that all stared at him, he knew he is going to be the talk of the land. Honestly he could give two shits less.
"With that being said, first let us partake in the mornings delights. First I shall raise the sun." Celestia announces as her horn glows, the magic having a positive effect with his mental and physical state as he felt so happy for some unknown reason. The sun starts to rise over the horizon as he turns to look at the brilliant light it gave, the ponies marvel at the sight, with ooohs and aahhs to accompany it.
Celestia sighs and smiles as she looks at her royal subjects and spoke, "Surely there is no pony so lovely and so well beloved as I."
Chris' head made a sharp turn towards her direction, his eyes went wide as he remembers that line.
"I beg your pardon your majesty but I believe Princess Luna shares the same loveliness, in fact both of you are so fair and well loved."
One of the ponies, apparently a well known wealthy subject from his area spoke out, "I beg to differ, but what has that Princess ever done for us? Celestia gives us the sun to enjoy the day, what good is there for a moon and the night?"
Many of the ponies seem to agree but this angers Chris, "The night is a wonderful relaxing time! Not only is it to be used for rest, but also to enjoy the coolness that comes along with it, the Moon to light the way for those with evening duties. All of you should be thankful to Princess Luna, she does this every single night, and none of you never bother to appreciate her or show her love for it!"
The ponies were afraid of the humans outburst, Celestia was unfazed though as she listened to what the human had to say. Chris took a deep breath and smoothed his hair back as he realized a few strands were out of place, he grabs his cup and drinks it down in a rather quick way as he looks away.
The solar princess wasnt prone to anger, and not wanting to have her subjects afraid of anymore she stood up tall, her form making the ponies bow low.
"You are all dismissed." The ponies gasp as they look up, but knew better than to argue as they left, somewhat grumbling and muttering curses towards Chris.
The poor cook though walks in with a cart full of food but looked confused as he saw everyone leaving, but Celestia still called him over to serve only two plates. He bows low and continues his duty as Celestia spreads her left wing and has it cover Chris to bring him in closer.
"Whoa there..." he says nervously as he looks at the regal princess.
"I want you to tell me everything you know. You are hiding something from me Chris, and I don't take too kindly to secrets." Celestia warns as Chris gulps, he didn't want to test her and yet he didn't want to tell the truth in fear of some time paradox or some crap from those time travel movies.
"As much as I want to Princess, I just can't... It wouldn't benefit anyone if I told you. This has to be done step by step and by my own doing no less."
The Princess stares into the humans eyes as she wisdom in his words and accepted them, "I see. Well whatever you are trying to prevent, may it work because if not, you will answer to me personally. Do I make myself clear?"
He stands up and bows, "Understood Your Majesty."
She smiles and returns the gesture, "Good, now let us discuss about your stay."
As they dined on the breakfast Celestia laid out the schedule and what duties he will be fulfilling, as Chris explained his role as a defender, Celestia made him an honorary royal guard, but made as her personal bodyguard and advisor since he seemed to be knowledgeable in many things.
She sent out a note to the Captain of the Guard explaining the Airmans role in improving the royal guards and how to make the castle safer.
The Captain of the Guard threw a fit while reading but quickly changed his mind when the SF member laid out the two advanced weapons in front of him, stares at the pony straight in the eye and asks,
"You really want to challenge me?"
It silenced the pegasus guard for a long time afterword.
-
"Wow this outfit is somewhat tight..." he says as one of the servants, a handmare using her unicorn magic tightens the gauntlet on his forearm.
From a certain perspective, to many humans it would be a faithful replication of the Assassins creed outfit, a mix of Edward Kenways and Arno Dorians with his own unique military style as he has fingerless gloves, hardened knuckle protectors, and the wrist blades up to standard. His M9 drop holster retrofitted and remade to be holstered to his chest. He quickly does a once over at the mirror as he sees his outfit was fit for duty.
"Very nice. Tell the tailor her did outstanding work, i'll definitely be seeing him again." He says as the handmare bows low,
"Your compliments are what he desires sire." She says as he looks to her and sighs,
"Just call me Chris please... im a very easy going person. When you're around me be relaxed." He says in a soft tone as the pony nods.
As he steps out of the door, he retracts his hood and takes a deep breath then smiles,
"Alright, let's get started."
Author's Note
I felt that Lunas anger and transformation was a bit rushed so I had Chris go in and pull her back from the brink.
I felt my heart being tugged when I was writing the emotions between Luna and Chris, the exchange of anger, sorrow, fear.
I want this story to be about Luna, all about Luna, but Chris has a vital role to play in making Luna feel loved and be given the recognition she deserves. Please comment and like if you can. I appreciate the followers and all you guys that are giving encouragement. More to come!
