Rainbow Heart 3

I awoke in pain. I could feel it in my wings along with blood dripping down. When I opened my eyes, the scene was blurry and dark, definitely was still the same night after the Battle of Doomageddon. My eyes adjusted and I could see the predicament I was in.

I could see the pony in front of me. It was Night Wish. I was put in a trap by Night Wish. My wings were bound with barbed wire and my hooves were cuffed and connected to the wings. No doubt there was a door to exit behind me and there was a rug in front of me between me and her. I had another magic blocker cone strapped to my horn deactivating my magic. I was trapped.

What I didn’t know at the time was Princess Luna was hiding nearby to make sure Night Wish was safe.

Night Wish stated, “In order for Princess Celestia to accept you, Rainbow Moon, you will have to become Rainbow Heart again and this is the only way. Princess Luna approved of this, if you can pass this trap you will be an Element of Disharmony bearer.” Night Wish further added, “I’m doing this to you because I am your friend. I have to do this to save you, Rainbow Heart. We all still want to be your friends. Friendship is magic.”

“With friends like you who needs enemies?” I snapped.

“This is the same saw that Double Rainbow used on Drop Zone, the first pony he killed.” Night Wish said creeping forward.

I knew what was coming next. There was no point in fighting it. I braced myself for major pain. I was breathing heavily as I shouted in pain unable to move. Night Wish cut off one wing with the rip saw and dropped the bloody blade in front of me making an imprint on the ground. As a result one of my hooves became free. I knew I had to cut the other one off myself.

“You know what you need to do.” Night Wish said. “You can do it. I believe in you.”

I took the woodcutting blade and used my hoof to sever the other remaining wing. Thereby granting my freedom. I knew at this point it was a carbon copy of Double Rainbow’s trap. No doubt if I were to attack her I’d be harmed by a hidden trap. But if I just left, I should live.

After the wing removal and I was free, Night Wish walked forward going halfway the distance between us and stepped onto the rug between us, perhaps trying to prove there wasn’t a trap beneath it, but I knew better, especially if it was designed after Double Rainbow’s traps, saying, “Now you have changed. Come to me and I will save you from this. Meet me halfway and I can save you. We can rebuilt the friendships and trusts you have lost, or you can leave and forsake everything you have tried to do in life for good.”

I knew Night Wish was probably lying. I knew there was probably a trap in front of me. Instead of attacking her and activating the potential trap, I turned and left.

I, unknowingly, crossed a symbol on the ground engraved with white chalk, not paying attention. I heard a deafening roar from beneath me. I looked below my hooves to see that I was in the center of a magical symbol. The symbol was a triangle, pyramid like, within a circle.

I, confused, soon realised and exclaimed, “The seal of revenge!”

Night Wish also knew how to do necromancy and basic magic, because of dark her studies into dark side of nature.

Night Wish stated, “After you were defeated in Canterlot on Nightmare Night, I did some more in depth studying on dark magic. Princess Luna showed me how to use the symbol. You don’t have to be a unicorn to do simple magic symbols or basic magic.”

The symbol was a way to summon spirits or to release souls, especially restless and vengeful ones, remaining in a cemetery. This meant I was at a graveyard. But where. Then it came to me. I was in the building at the Stones of Tears! Spirits began to come through the floor and circle around me. The souls were the victims of Double Rainbow and Rainbow Heart, who they killed. They were looking to get their revenge on both of them, which was easy since together they were both Rainbow Moon.

I exclaimed, “What? No, they are reformed. All of them. Why are they attacking me?”

Night Wish explained, “Neither Double Rainbow, Rainbow Heart, or yourself, Rainbow Moon reformed anypony. You killed ponies. That’s all you did.”

A vortex appeared below my hooves. The ghosts grabbed me and tried to pull me down into the symbol. I was going to be taken into the other life by them.

Double Rainbow said in my mind, “I love you and I will protect you from our wrong doings. I will take their vengeance.”

In an act of true love, the essence of Double Rainbow, his spirit, took the punishment for their wrong doings and sacrificed himself to save Rainbow Heart. Double Rainbow’s spirit disengaged from Rainbow Moon, returning Rainbow Heart to his former self with his prior injuries but healed with scars in their place. Double Rainbow’s spirit lets go and is swallowed by the ghosts and taken into the symbol.

I was still in danger of being sucked into the void. Rainbow Moon’s armor turned back into the rug and was to help save me. I threw half of it like a life preserver donut on a boat and it got snagged on a hook embedded near an unlit lantern by a hole in the rug caused by it covering one of Double Rainbow’s trap, the weave held and did not tear. I pulled myself out of the void that had been created by the ghosts in the symbol and crawled away exhausted and relieved to have been saved. There was no doubt in my mind that Double Rainbow knew this was coming. The void sealed.

Night Wish saved me by flying over to me. She wrapped me in the rug the best she could and carried me in her front hooves as she flew away from the scene piercing the dark sky.

I muttered, booping her nose on her muzzle, “Best friends always.”

Night Wish said, “Friends always.”

I fell unconscious in a few moments. Night Wish took me to her cabin to rest and recover. Night Wish knew he was too tired and needed his rest. But he will be okay. It’s all over now.

Apparently, Night Wish had only booby trapped the exit. If he would have attacked her, she would have been defenseless. However, there was a rug between her and him. The rug was just for decoration and mental manipulation. Rainbow Moon had speculated it was a carbon copy of Double Rainbow’s Traps and the place would be trapped from him to her. He knew she would not have done what he did and trapped both the rug and the exit. This is why he didn’t worry about it when he departed. However, the above is what was the truth. Night Wish’s trap was designed to rebuild friendship. By coming towards her, he would be embraced with his old friend, if he tried to leave, he would be changed for the better. It was a trap to building friendship and trust. Night Wish’s trap was how you build friendships with those who do not want too. You put them through the test, and then give them a friendly hoof. If they aren’t willing to meet you halfway and embrace a hug of change, then you must force the change as they leave. Both of Double Rainbow and Rainbow Heart had it wrong. This is how you building bridges. This is how you get them to realize the errors of their ways and get them to come to you. Only by them leaving you should you force the change.
