The rise of King Sombra

     Twilight walks through Canterlot, enjoying the warm sunlight as she walks towards the castle. She sighs happily, stretching her wings in the warmth.  Suddenly she feels a cold wind blow and a dark presence behind her, the sky darkens as she whirls around to confront the presence."Who are you? Why are you here?" She says, laying her ears back against her mane, backing away from the shadowy stallion.

     "I am King Sombra" the dark stallion replies, as his shadowy form becomes solid. He laughs at Twilight as she backs up, towards the castle where the other princesses, Luna and Celestia, are.

     "H-how? How did you get here?" She demands angrily, glaring at Sombra,"How did you get past the protective spells?"she starts thinking of a spell to hold him off long enough so that Luna and Celestia could come.

     "I do not need to break those spells... Yet" He laughs " But i will get my kingdom back, and this one, you just wait and see"

     "You will fail, like every time you have tried." She paused, watching him carefully, notices he is watching behind her. She slowly turns around and is paralyzed with shock and horror. There was no bright cheery sunlight, only gray skies.. Where the castle was there was a huge menacing fortress.

     "This is the future of Equestria" he wispers in her ear, laughing as she shivers in fear." I will be king and everyone will do my bidding or else be punished" as he said that, the land around Twilight and Sombra dissapated. When the landscape reformed they were in the fortress, in the dungeon. Twilight heard chains rattle as two alicorns tried to stand. She recognizes them immediately

     "Princess Luna! Princess Celestia! What happened?!?" She yelled in surprise, getting confused, she turns on Sombra."what is this? Where are we?"

     "Why my dearest Twilight, we are in the realm of dreams, specifically your dreams" a single tendril of dark magic comes out of the ground, it strokes Twilights cheek.

     "Dearest Twilight? What kind of nonsense is that? And it is Princess Twilight to you." Twilight snorts, pulling away from the tendril of dark magic. "You are not even a rightful king. And if this is the realm of my dreams then why are you here?"she backs away from him.

     "Yes your right. You are a princess." He pauses as the landscape dissapates once again, they reappear in another part of the fortress."But you could be so much more than a princess. You are more powerful than your mentor, Princess Celestia, and almost as strong as me. I could teach you what my mentor taught me." He walks around Twilight, using his horn to gauge the limits of her magic.

     "I will never be your student!" She yells angrily  she looks around for an escape route. She notices that they are in what looks like a throne room.

     Sombra laughs,"I will take over Equestria, and when i do i will teach you the dark magic my mentor taught me." Another tendril of dark  magic comes out of the ground this time it wraps around Twilights right foreleg. She tries to pull away. She trips and falls into a large trap, she falls.

     And falls.

          And falls.

               And falls.

                   And falls, she can see the bottom of the trap rushing up to meet her, she closes her eyes.

     "Twilight? Twilight wake up, or you are going to miss breakfast." Spike looks at Twilight worriedly." Are you OK?

     Twilight wakes up and jumps out of bed. Looks around disoriented, rubs her head as a headache sets in. " Wha? Oh it's just a dream" sighs with releif.

     "Just a dream? Heheheh. Its only a dream until it becomes reality my dear." Sombras voice wispers in her head. She shivers.

     "Twilight are you OK? You look like you just saw a ghost." Spike says worriedly.

     "Its nothing Spike dont worry." she replies.

     "OK... You sure?" He asks, knowing somethings wrong.

     " Yes I'm sure, now what is for breakfast?" She answers.
