"I still can't believe he fell for it!" Rainbow Dash snickered, wiping her eyes on her sky blue tank top. "It was so obvious!" She had just pulled a pretty sweet prank on Mr. Cake. Long story short, he had panicked to make a new batch of oat cakes when his original batch 'vanished'.

Applejack was practically snorting with laughter. "Geez that was fun!"

"Wow girls! I didn't know pranking could be so much fun!" Twilight giggled

The three girls giggled for a few minutes before a military themed ringtone went off somewhere. Rainbow Dash pulled out her phone. "Ugh hold on" She clicked a button and held the receiver to her ear.

"Hi Dust Bowl ... Sorry, Dusty" she rolled her eyes. "Again? That's the third time this week! ... Okay okay, I get it. Um..... " Rainbow Dash paused to check her watch. "Okay, be there by 3:30? ... Gotcha. ... Yep. See ya" click!

"Well, looks like I'm headed to the doctors."

"Again? How many times does Scootaloo need to get checked out?" Applejack asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't know, probably a medicine refill where Scootaloo freaked out again and got taken to an examination room. I promised I'd be there by 3:30 so, gotta run. I'll see you guys later." She jogged off without another word.

"Bye!" both girls called after her.

***************

On the jog to the doctor's office, Rainbow thought about how many times she'd been on this path. Was it sad that she had memorized the route to and the floor plan of a place that was literally medical needles wrapped in jungle print wallpaper? Well she had. For what reason, she had no clue.

As far as she knew, Scootaloo hadn't always been like this. In fact, she was a pretty good kid. Sure she had her fair share of cuts and scrapes but what 11 year old tomboy wouldn't? Then there was the camping trip. Scootaloo had confessed she had sisterly affections toward Rainbow Dash, and it was like a barrier had broken. Scootaloo seemed more relaxed. She never tried to impress the older girl anymore because, well, she didn't need to. Rainbow Dash had hosted a couple sleepovers and helped Scoots with her flying. Then there was the matter of meeting the parents.

Scootaloo's folks were good people at heart, but they were definitely the eager beaver type. Her father Dust Bowl insisted on being called Dusty, and (very cheerfully) corrected anyone who called him by his full name. Scarlett Swirl, her mother, was obviously a hipster. She left the room whenever the TV was on and went to listen to her radio. She wore the thickest glasses she could find and striped scarves all the time. Rarity couldn't even go inside the house because it was covered in floral print and black. Scarlett bumped wrists with you, claiming that shaking hands and fist bumping were too mainstream.

Scootaloo was always glad to get out of the house, but lately she had been confined to her room. She hadn't been to a crusader meeting for almost a month as far as Dash knew. It was all because of about a month after the camping trip. Scootaloo turned into a downright brat. A typical answer from her these days was either 'Yeah sure, now leave me alone' or 'In your dreams, now leave me alone'. She had taken to keeping her volume as loud as possible so you could barely tell she had headphones on. She death glared any visitors she didn't know before stomping up to her room, making as much noise as she could and slamming the door loud enough to rattle the china in the kitchen. Then, everything got about as bad as it could.

Two weeks ago, Scootaloo had shown everyone exactly what she was capable of. She had knocked out the guards and broke into town hall. Two tranquilizer darts were found in the guards' necks. They followed the trail of broken scooter pieces to find Scootaloo committing all out vandalism. After breaking into town hall she had found the Mayor's resume for running for reelection. She had written several choice words all across the paper in Sharpie and splattered paint all over the office's clean tan walls. She had shredded about three quarters of the papers in the 'Important Documents' file and emptied the paper shredder so the evidence was lost to the trash bin. She had taken her Sharpie and was about to doodle something on the Mayor's portrait (probably a mustache or something just as immature) when Dash and two police men found her.

After Scootaloo was released from her 48 hours in prison, she was immediately put on medication for whatever was making her do this and had regular appointments with doctors and therapists, none of which she would talk to about her feelings. Most put it off as high stress levels, but apparently the doctors had hit a breakthrough today and Dash needed to be there.

**********************

As her jog slowed to a walk, she calmly breezed her way into the hospital and went directly to the room Scootaloo was in. Scarlett Swirl and Dust Bowl sat in chairs off to the side while Scootaloo sat on the exam table in her tank top and shorts.(she put up a fight if they tried to put her in a hospital gown). Dash took the empty seat and glanced at the 11 year old. Scootaloo kept her head down and her mouth pulled into a scowl. Not that it was different from her usual expression these days.

"Hi, Dusty, Hi Scarlett," she said, turning to the adults and trying to start up a conversation.

"Hiya, there, Rainy-bow Dasheroo!" replied Dust Bowl. Dash was pretty sure he was a car salesman or something just as perky and annoying.

"Greetings, Ms Rainbow." Scarlett drawled out. Saying hi and calling someone by their last name was officially mainstream apparently.

Dash glanced around the (sadly) familiar exam room. "Um, so.... do we have any clue what this is all about?"

Dusty shrugged "Oh, the doctor called and said he might have an answer to our problems but he needed to look over Scoots again. Dr Monitor wanted another adult close to her to be here for the result, and our little daughter immediately picked you. So why don't we all just sit a spell and wait for him to get back, shall we?"

Dash nodded and shifted her attention to Scootaloo, who was swinging her feet and scowling. Seeing how Scoots hadn't hit a growth spurt yet, her feet were awkwardly sitting about a foot above the floor, lazily rocking back and forth, back and forth.

"So kiddo, you doing okay lately?" Dash said, twisting her head to look the girl in the eye. Before the girl could answer, the door swung open and s man in a lab coat known as Dr. Monitor came into the room.

"We have a diagnosis!" he cried. Everyone in the room sat up. "Scootaloo is juvenile delinquent, plain and simple!"

Silence.

Then glares of disbelief.

" I am quite serious" The doctor said. "But we have a cure. What Scootaloo needs is firm, guiding hand to help get her back to where she began.

Scarlett grew flustered. "Oh, Doc, i assure you we've been-" the doctor held up and hand to silence her.

"Miss Swirl, i am aware of that. Perhaps i should have phrased it differently. Scootaloo needs to get out of the house. She needs to live under different rules for awhile, maybe with someone who's seen what's it's like in strict places. And that, Miss Dash, is where you come in." Everyone was looking directly at the rainbow haired girl.

She gulped. "M-me?"

My first story! This is an idea that's been swirling in my head awhile, and since i joined the site recently, why not? Feedback is most certainly welcome, as i'm still a beginner at this. From here it will gradually get darker. Not comfortable with that, i suggest you move on now. If you are comfortable with it, by all means stick around!
