Six Broken Hearts

Chapter 2: The assignment

We were in separate chariots. All the humans in one chariot while all the mares in the other.

"So, what is the assignment Celestia gave us?" I asked.

"You remember all the other ponies right? The other five?" I nodded as Max explained. "Yes well, we are supposed to cheer the mane six up," I tilted my head. "The six are those six ponies Sam," I nodded, understanding now. "See, all of the ponies have experienced... dramatic events, such as deaths in the family," I raised an eyebrow.

"Um, are you sure? They seemed fine to me," I said. Joe shook his head.

"Actually, the mane six were practically destroyed when their loved ones died," I frowned.

"I know how that feels..." A tear formed and went down my cheek and Jacob smacked Joe's head. "Well, I guess we can help," I said glumly. When we all landed, Twilight was the first to speak.

"Jacob, don't mind my rudeness but I do not need to be cheered up, we're all fine," I looked at Twilight. Her face was saying otherwise. She actually looks... sad.

"Well, we won't hang around all the time, we're just trying to be your friends," said Jacob. Twilight scoffed.

"Yeah right, friends that are ordered to do so," Jacob sighs. I took a step forward.

"So? You're ordering yourself to be happy," I had spoken out loud. What disappointed me was that it sounded like a cliche from a cartoon series. Twilight shook her head.

"You're just wasting your time here, but go ahead, knock yourselves out," Jacob sighed as she left. Jacob breaks the silence first.

"Alright guys, we're going to need a place to live," I stopped.

"What do you mean live?" I ask nervously. Jacob has a nervous look. The others looked away. I don't like this.

"Well, Celestia said there wasn't a way back, or at least she doesn't know a way," I felt like everything hurt. Everything in me has just shattered.

"W-what about o-our families?" I asked. They shook their head. I started backing up. "N-no, t-there i-i-is a way back!"

"Sam, wai-"

"W-what about my family?" My eyes were full of fear, and terror.

"Sam, there isn't a wa- SAM!" I ran. I ran into God knows where. I ran through town crying. My family is not the wealthiest and I usually help them to their feet. All I have left is my sister, brother and mother. I started to slow down into walking after running for several minutes. I took a breath in, then out, and did the same thing for at least an hour as realization hits me with bricks. My family could be done for. I started calming down after I started telling myself to try and survive. It sunk in a little and I became calm to the point that I can force a smile. I walked around town with blood shot eyes and looked around. When I met up with the others, they had gotten to know their partners. I smiled, seeing everyone happy. Rainbow Dash drops in from above.

"Hey, Chicken, right?" I gave her a deadpan look. "Jeez, it's just a joke," I shake my head. "So, what are you exactly?"

"I am a human, if you don't know what that is, think of a hairless ape," she smiled, then chuckled a small bit.

"Well then Chicken, have you ever seen my AWESOMENESS!!!" I just stand there eyebrow raised at the drama.

"One, my name is Sam, two no, no I haven't, because I just got to this world," I now sense a disturbance in the ego, and that I'm gonna regret saying that. Rainbow smirks.

"Let me show you then, but don't go gaga over me okay? Okay," she bolts off. She starts doing tricks and flips and some of them actually impressed me. She flies over to me. "So, what do you think?" I simply yawned and grinned. She smirks, "Alright then, guess I'll try something different." She flies into the air and into a distance. She starts speeding towards us. She was breaking the sound barrier!? She breaks it, and a huge explosion with rainbow colors appear! I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. It was so awesome! I was snapped into reality when Rainbow Dash knocked me on the head.

"Hello, any pony home?" I blinked then reestablished myself.

"Yeah, I'm home," Rainbow giggles, then bursts into laughter. "What?" Jacob looks at me and then stifles a laugh as hard as he can. He hands me a mirror. There were scribbles on my face. I had a sun around my eye, a mustache, and a weird beard. I looked around to see Pinkie with a washable marker. I smiled, chuckled and laughed. Jacob established himself and tried to speak in a serious voice.

"Alright, he eh, let's go find a house to live in," it hurt me when he said live, but I tried to focus on something else. I looked at Rainbow Dash. I don't know why but, I feel better. I smiled. I helped with the search for a new home. It took us a few hours but it turns out there are several houses to live in. We all picked a house to live in, ands since we were completely new, and knew the princesses, we got some furniture free, but we have to pay rent in a few weeks. My house is located in the outskirts of Ponyville. It was not too big, one kitchen, bedroom, living room, and bathroom. I set up my bed and laid down. Today, was a hard day.

Later

I woke up next morning to a lot of banging on my door. I opened it and saw a hopping pink pony.

"Heya Sam! I realized yesterday that no one had a 'Welcome to Ponyville' party!" I smiled.

"You don't have to Pinkie," I said. She shook her head.

"What kind of welcome did you even get when you got here?" She asked raising an eyebrow. I chuckled a little.

"Pinkie, we don't need to be welcomed, especially me. I have enough already," She rolls her eyes and drags me over to her party. When we got there, there were a lot of ponies there. Many of them stared at both me and the gang. Pinkie on the other hand was partying like a party animal. A few gave me glares. I did not feel good so I sneaked out. As I was walking back home, I felt something grab me. i looked down to see Pinkie, but she has flat hair and she looked sad.

"D-didn't you like the p-party?" I felt awful. I kneel down.

"No, I just saw that some ponies don't like me," She looked down. "Don't be sad Pinkie, please?" She nodded and her mane slowly went to poof mode. I started back home as she said goodbye.
