Chapters Adagio Dazzle was sitting at the bar in the pounding dance club, drinking away her frustration. It had been a month since the Battle of the Bands and it was the worst month of her long life. For once, she had no powers; which meant she didn't have the ability to make someone else pay for her drinks. As she slammed shots of liquor, her alcohol tolerance had gotten higher over the years, the blue haired DJ at the booth started a new song that made her seethe.
"I can't believe this crap is considered music," the poofy-haired girl said under her breath. "At least we had talent."
"You're tellin' me. Vinyl usually plays good songs, but I guess you have to play crap thanks to popular demand," an unfamiliar voice came from beside her.
Adagio looked to her side to see a nice-looking toned girl with a blonde/orange mohawk and matching eyes. She looked slightly familiar, but otherwise Adagio drew a blank as to who she was.
"Why the hell are you next to me? What made you decide out of all the chairs here, I'd be the one willing to speak with someone like you?" Adagio glared as she spoke.
"Because you are speaking to me," the obvious athlete replied. "The name's Spitfire, perhaps you've heard of me?"
"Not likely," the angry siren said, annoyed already.
"You seem to be pissed off. Either that or you just have a resting bitch face." Spitfire smirked at the siren beside her, raising her drink a bit.
"Both, Spitwad. Now fuck off," she scoffed out, glaring in return to the cocky smirk.
"Well, how about I make you smile and keep you company? You seem to have taken quite a few shots, can't have some scumbag comin' over here and taking advantage of you," the fiery athlete grinned.
"Oh and you aren't trying? Besides, I can handle myself," the lead Dazzling leered at Spitfire.
"How about I pay for your shots instead?" the mohawk-sporting girl smirked at the siren.
That caught the siren's attention, she looked at Spitfire and grinned her trademark grin. She had easily racked up a good 100 bits of shots, trying to get drunk and only getting a slight buzz. Of course she'd take the opportunity of someone else paying for the liquor she drank and would keep drinking.
"Okay, Spitwad. I'll take you up on that offer, but I gotta warn you, I don't spare the hardest of drinks or the most expensive," the curly blonde replied to her, smirking evilly.
"Line 'em up barkeep, give us your best poisons!" As Spitfire said that, the bartender lined up 10 shots, and the party began.
After the first ten shots they put on the tab, they both slammed shots and drank the hardest alcohol they, rather Spitfire, could buy, and got literally fucking hammered. They drank bourbon, scotch, rum, vodka, wine, absinthe, and basically any kind of alcohol they could afford. After Adagio had her fill, she got off the stool and nearly fell, surprised when Spitfire caught her. The athlete paid their tab, a mind-blowing 378 bits.
Stifling a laugh, Spitfire snorted, "There goes my fuckin' money stack I had before I got here." She started laughing at the 22 bucks she had left and her slurring, unable to stop after a while.
Adagio felt a bit guilty after she said that, but it soon turned back to her bitch mode as she stared at the laughing girl beside her. "You're the one who chose to drink with me, when I obviously already had like 27 shots before you even came over here." Dazzle slurred her words more than Spitfire, due to her headstart on shots.
Spitfire looked at the Dazzling, then laughed even harder, clutching her sides as her eyes watered from laughing so hard. "All right, all right, all right. Um.. oh yeah! Let's get you home, Adagigo."
"Don't call me that, Spitwad," she growled at Spitfire, glaring as they stumbled out of the bar together; her arm over Spitfire's shoulder.
In their drunken stupor, Spitfire walked Adagio home. She got lost a few times thanks to Dazzle's less than adequate directions as to where they were going, but eventually after an hour or so of stumbling around with a siren over her shoulder, she arrived at the small apartment that she and her fellow Dazzlings' shared.
"Well, here ya go, Dagi!" Spitfire whisper-screamed as they found the door in the dark hallway. "This is it, right?"
Adagio nodded, hiccuping in approval. Dazzle fumbled with her key, and after a solid five minutes of not even coming close to the keyhole, finally unlocked the door as she cursed under her breath.
"Well, I'm gonna go home, if I don't fall down your stairs instead of up this time," the drunken athlete giggled as she stumbled backwards, catching herself.
Before she could walk away, Adagio pulled Spitfire into a deep, sloppy, drunken kiss. It caught Spitfire by surprise, but she grabbed the siren's firm ass after she got used to it. Adagio slid her tongue into Spitfire's mouth, amply wrestling her tongue in a war she was quite honestly winning. The heated make out session was ended when the Dazzling pulled away, wiping the mixture of saliva off her chin and lips.
"Why would you go home when my bed is right inside, and perfect for everything but sleep?" Adagio said in a drunken-sultry tone, holding Spitfire's chin briefly before walking inside, leaving the door open as the invitation.
Spitfire stood there, just staring off before she clued in and stumbled into the apartment, grinning as she walked in and shut the door behind herself.
"Good point."

"You fucking idiot, what did you do that for?!" Adagio whisper-screamed at her, obviously worried that the athlete woke her fellow sirens. She didn't want them knowing she brought home someone, let alone someone like Spitfire, even if she was drunk.
"I have no idea," she snorted as she walked in behind Adagio, slamming the door yet again to the siren's discontent. Before Adagio could bite her head off for it, she quickly pinned her against the wall and kissed her sloppily.
Spitfire pulled away from Adagio, breathing heavily. She grinned as Adagio's eyes filled with lust, determined to give her what she needed.
But not yet.
"Get on the bed, Dazzle," she whispered in her ear, biting her earlobe and neck.
Adagio glared at her. 'How dare this girl order me around. Who does she think she is? She isn't going to get away with that, but I'll bide my time. I'll play along for now,' she thought to herself.

Adagio woke up to the sun shining in on her face. The sight of her room a mess was enough to make her groan. She thought about getting out of bed before the staggering pain in her head made her regret even allowing her mind to think. Spitfire obliged, despite being angry. She snuck out and tiptoed passed the purple and blue doors, assuming they were in there. She continued her sneaking, almost making her way to the door before she was cut off by a cheery voice.

Spitfire spun around, a blue skinned girl in a ponytail greeted her with a smile. As Sonata waved frantically at her, a purple skinned girl stepped out from behind her, grinning as if she had just found the best blackmail on Earth.
"Oh, Dagi brought home a new plaything," Aria stated, giving a malicious grin.
"Plaything?" Spitfire glared at Aria, clenching her fists.
"Dagi already getting rough? I mean, that is a pretty nice burn. I didn't know she used her iron as a sex toy," Aria continued, not at all acknowledging the fury in Spitfire's face.
"I DO NOT!!" Adagio came flying down the hall, sliding in front of Aria with so much precision that it scared the three girls.

Spitfire looked at the three girls as they all argued, staring at them as she slowly backed away towards the door.
Adagio watched as Spitfire bolted out the door; she went back to her room to think over the night before. She didn't remember the girl's name, but she remembered all they did. It was nice, she could admit. She almost wished she hadn't slapped her with her iron. Almost.
She noticed a jacket on the chair by her bed. It was too old and worn out to be hers. She would've tossed it by now. Adagio saw the ironed on patch with the name "Spitfire " on it. Without a second thought, Adagio gathered the jacket, stuffing something into the pocket. She left the apartment and started down the four stories of stairs.
Spitfire was at the bus stop at the end of the block, waiting. She couldn't wait to get home and properly patch up her burned cheek. She heard footsteps approaching the bench and caught purple boots out of the corner of her eye. Adagio stood there, handing her the jacket she left.
Spitfire gave her a slight smile, thanking her. She watched Adagio walk back to her apartment, or more importantly, her ass. When the bus arrived, she boarded and paid the seventy-five cent tax, taking her seat. The bus was colder than outside, so she stuffed her hands in her jacket pockets. She felt something in the left pocket, pulling it out. It was a neatly folded piece of paper, which she promptly unfolded. She smiled at the cursive writing, refolding it and putting it back in her pocket. She sighed happily, watching her breath fog the window and trying to memorize the note.

Spitfire stood in her towel, checking herself out in the bedroom mirror. It wasn’t unlike her to stand naked for a while after her morning shower. She looked at the wall-sized mirror and stared at her toned legs, her firm hips, flat stomach, and plump breasts.

The phone rang once.
It rang a total of seven times before it went to voicemail.
"This is Adagio Dazzle. If you have my number, that means you're lucky.. or it's you two. And if this is Sonata, no, I will not pick you up. Call Aria." Then a high-pitched beep before silence.
"O-oh hey, Adagio! It's Spitwad, remember me? The girl from the bar? Well, y'see, I'm kinda bored and I was wondering if we could hang out? Maybe get some dinner and a few drinks? Maybe? A-anyway.. call me back when you get the chance. Or text me. Whichever works." the mohawk-sporting girl hung up, her hands shaky.
"What's wrong with me!? I just sounded so nervous! What happened to my attitude?! My confidence?! Ugh, Spitfire you totally--" a loud ring interrupted her self-scolding as she jumped, nearly dropping the cell phone in her hand.
"Hello?" she answered, resolving the former argument with herself.
"You called me?"
As soon as she heard the tone, Spitfire knew who it was.
"Hey Adagio, so I was wondering--"
"You want to go out with me, I know. I heard the voicemail as soon as you left it. I just chose not to answer it," Adagio stated matter-of-factly, it was like you could hear the grin on her face.
"So... yeah. Yep. I want to go out with you.. kind of like a date? You free tonight?" Spitfire gulped, then immediately hoped the blonde on the other end didn't catch that tell-tale sign of anxiety.
"Hmm.. well, let me check my plans for this evening," the siren sneered, pausing and rustling some papers to make the lie that she was "checking her schedule" seem more believable.
And damn did it work. Spitfire broke out in a cold sweat, even though she knew Adagio was faking every bit of the "searching".
"I suppose I can move things around," the Dazzling finally stated, still obviously smirking.
"All right, sweet! So I'll pick you up at 8?" Spitfire felt a bit of confidence return, she sighed in relief.
"Fine. But don't expect me to pay for this all, Spitwad. Pick me up at my apartment. Goodbye," Adagio hung up.
Spitfire stared at her phone screen for a moment, opening her messages and searching, clicking a contact named 'Best Bitch' and quickly texting her.
"Fleet, I need your help, come over."
Spitfire was wearing a bra and panties, pacing around her living room. She didn't understand why she was so nervous, but wondering would have to wait. At that moment, she heard a motorcycle pull up by the flat. She knew who it was, but she looked out the window just to check. Fleetfoot was parking her bike, carrying the helmet she wore as she buzzed the doorbell at the main entrance.
"Yo, Spitfire. It's me, open up," Fleetfoot said into the microphone.
Spitfire leisurely pressed the button to open the door, unlocking the apartment door and returning to her anxious pacing. She bit her thumb's nail as she waited for Fleetfoot to come up the three flights of stairs. She was worried that her skydiving partner would not take her seriously. Spitfire's thoughts wandered once again, and like recently, she regretted letting them.
"What if she laughs at me? I mean, I jump out of planes and pilot them. Why should I be afraid of a girl?" Spitfire asked herself.
Well, afraid wasn't the word. More like... intimidated. No girl ever tried to dominate over the rambunctious athlete. They would never try to one-up her, and they certainly wouldn't intimidate her. She was always in charge. Not her partner. So the whole idea of being at someone else's mercy was foreign to her.
Her train of thought was derailed once more as the door flung open and Fleetfoot walked into the tiny area.
"So, what's the emergency? You lose your hair gel?" Fleetfoot snickered, pointing at the usually fiery mohawk, but the strands of limp hair that were covering her face indicated she had not styled it today.
"No. I didn't. I just.. Fleet, I'm having a difficult time figuring something out," Spitfire admitted, taking a seat.
"Well, if it's serious enough that you need me, I'm all ears," the blue-skinned girl sat by her best friend, giving a sympathetic smile.
"I'm.. I have a date tonight. With a girl named Adagio. I'm really nervous, and I don't understand why!" the athlete growled in frustration, gritting her teeth.
"..that's it?"
Spitfire looked up at Fleetfoot, who was obviously holding back a laugh. She stood up fast, glaring at Fleetfoot.
"You laugh, I forget to pack your parachute," Spitfire threatened, giving a stern look to her friend.
"Okay, okay, chill. So, what's up with you? Is this chick a total bimbo, is that why?" Fleet asked, curious.
"No, that's just it.. she's brilliant. Intelligent, and she knows it. The way her hair flows with those curly locks.. the smirk on her face when she knows she is getting what she wants. They way her eyes shine in the light, the flicker of green I see in her pupil at times, Faust, everything I remember about Adagio just makes me... crazy. She's so gorgeous, and I've got a date with her tonight," Spitfire trailed off, a goofy smile on her face.
Fleetfoot sat in silence, not from the awkward way her best friend just talked about a girl, but from the shock. Spitfire had flings, sure, but she never talked about a girl this way. It reminded her of how she talked to Soarin about Night Glider.
After a few minutes of silence, she finally started to talk again.
"Have you thought that this anxiety is caused by you gaining feelings for this chick?" Fleetfoot inquired, still somewhat shocked by the way Spitfire spoke of this girl.
"What? No, of course not! I'm just trying to get more out of her! Like all the other girls, 'cause she isn't anything special to me! She's just a beautiful, sexy girl I picked up at a bar.. long legs... pretty face.. totally rockin' body..." Spitfire was trailing off once again, before she snapped back to reality.
"Yeah, totally not crushin' on her, are you?" Fleetfoot snorted a laugh, bursting into a giggle fit.
"Shut up! You'd fall for her too, if you spent the night with her!" Spitfire growled at Fleet, rolling her eyes.
"Okay, so why did you call me here? Besides unloading your growing affection for a girl you met a month ago," the blue athlete finally asked, wiping a tear.
"I need help picking out an outfit that says "I'm in charge, deal with it." Spitfire looked at Fleetfoot, who returned it with an eyebrow raise.
"Seems easy enough," she stood and they both walked to Spitfire's room.
Three hours later, Spitfire was finally content with her look, and rushing to leave the apartment.
"Shit, it's 7:30, I gotta get going! Thanks Fleet, I owe ya!" she yelled as she ran out of the apartment, slamming the door.
"Well, if you owe me, I'm raiding your fridge and your Netflix."

Spitfire ran to her car, unlocking it. She had gotten it back the night after her meeting with Adagio, after going back to the bar. Drinking was a hobby of hers, and a recurring one at that. Spitfire got into the '78 Mustang and turned the key, listening to the purr of the engine for a moment before peeling out of the parking lot. She drove a few neighborhoods over to Adagio Dazzle's apartment complex.
"Man, this is going to be fun!" Spitfire was getting herself excited, in more ways than one.
Spitfire pulled over to park near the sidewalk, and got out. She strode up the few steps to their door, pressing the button to buzz their apartment.
"Who is it?" a slightly garbled voice came through the microphone, obviously not Adagio's.
"It's Spitfire, I'm here for Dagi."
"Oh. She's almost ready she'll--"
"BE DOWN IN A MINUTE!" a cheerier voice interrupted with a singsong tone.
"God damn it, Sonata!" the button was let go, and Spitfire was left in silence.
The damned silence that makes you think. The silence she was starting to hate.
"Fuck this, I don't want to think. I'll make my own noise, so I don't work myself up. Yeah, that works. So Spitfire, tonight you're going to take this lovely lady to dinner, maybe buy her a drink or two. You'll talk, share a few laughs... well, maybe share a few laughs. Then you'll bring her home and bid her good night. If she wants to do anything else fun, that's up to her," Spitfire told herself rather in-depth. She was pleased with her ideas, and smiling to herself.
That is, until she heard snickering behind her.
Spitfire turned around quickly, seeing Adagio standing there, almost laughing. She was dressed in a lovely purple camisole, with a short black jacket that just covered her breasts, that would have exposed her midriff had she not worn anything under the jacket. The siren wore dark gray skinny jeans tucked into her trademark heels. Her hair was fabulous as usual, with the studded band in it.
Adagio smirked at her, raising an eyebrow. "Having fun?"
"Well, now I am," Spitfire said with a grin, offering her hand to the blonde. Adagio accepted the gesture, the two of them walking to Spitfire's car. The athlete opened the door for Adagio, who put her hand to her chest in fake swooning.

"I'd rather learn more about you," Adagio looked at her, her trademark grin almost gleaming in the moonlight. "Where are you from?"
"Cloudsale, but I moved to Canterlot before high school started. My mom thought it'd be best for us, since my dad kinda left us before my freshman year," the athlete said almost somberly.
"I see. What do you do for a living?" the lead siren quickly changed the subject.
"I'm a professional skydiver and pilot. My partner Fleetfoot and I do airshows in Canterlot, Cloudsdale, Everfree, Crystal City, and more recently, we were booked in Manehattan. It pays well, and I get to live on the edge," Spitfire spoke with pride this time, her face having a smile plastered on it. "We're here."
Adagio looked at the small cafe, then her face dropped. It was Sugarcube Corner.
"Something wrong?"
Adagio looked at Spitfire, then back at the cafe, then back at Spitfire. "Everything's fine. This place just seems familiar." She lied right through her teeth.
"Well, come on then. They close at ten," Spitfire got out and helped her damsel out of the car, walking in the cafe with her.
As they stepped inside, every head turned their way, half of them confused, and the other half were giving dirty looks to Adagio. Spitfire walked her to a small table, pulling out the chair for the blonde siren then sitting across from her. Everyone was still silent and staring.

"Sounds like fun, I'll call you over when we've decided, Cup," Spitfire gave her a polite grin. Mrs. Cake nodded with yet another smile and left them to decide.
"Hey Dagi, what are you going to get? I already know what I want, just a small sandwich," Spitfire tossed the menu aside, leaning back in her chair.

"Well, that was right after we were shot with magical energy, and we didn't try to keep harmony. Maybe we can unlock our power to entrance the people of this world with a little practice," Adagio gave them a grin.
"That sounds insane, but plausible..." Aria trailed off, thinking to herself.
"I say we try it!" Sonata chirped, waving her hand in the air.
There was a few moments of silence before Adagio heard what she wanted to hear.
"Fuck it, let's do it," Aria gave a slightly confident smirk, crossing her arms.
The three sirens walked into the Adagio's room, all standing how they used to months before.
The three struggled to adapt to the pitches, but soon began their signature mantra. They all found it to be surprisingly easy with effort, their voices nearly as hypnotizing as before.

"You should call Spitfire! Tell her the news!" Sonata beamed, but looked as the anxiety overtook Adagio's face.
"Spitfire.. call her? Why?" Adagio gulped audibly.
"Well, duh! To tell her the good news!"
"What news? I'm an energy-absorbing fish-pony from another world? I think she knows at least part of that."
"No, no! You don't say it like that! You have to break it to her slowly," Sonata explained. "I know! Aria and I will show you how to do it!"
"You will?" Adagio asked incredulously.
"We will?" Aria looked at her in surprise.
Sonata nodded happily, dragging them to her room. The sirens were hit with one color: pink. The wallpaper was a pale, powdery pink, and her bed seemed to be the same color as her high top boots. Stuffed animals, plushes, posters, and even pictures of her family scattered the walls. Some antique relics were there as well, Adagio recognized the Shakes Pierre skull from the original Hooflet play, also noticing Sonata's pet rock on her dresser. Adagio looked away from that gray pet, the only thing in the room not pink.
Sonata set up her tea party set she'd had for over sixty years, covering it with a cloth. She grabbed two cans of soda, pouring both into her tea pot. She grabbed a big plate of cookies and placed them in the center of the table. She walked to Aria with a whole new demeanor, one of almost a gentle formality.
"Pay attention Adagio," Sonata said with a smile, getting back into character. "Aria! You look amazing tonight, your hair is different. Did you try new clips?"
Aria stood puzzled for a minute, looking her up and down. "You're serious?"
"Of course I am! Shall we?" Sonata offered her hand, smiling at her younger friend.
"You are serious," Aria glanced at the hand, sighing and taking it, speaking enthusiastically. "Why thank you, Sonata."
"You're very welcome, Miss!" Sonata poured her a cup, giving her a few of the cookies.
Adagio was cringing like crazy, seeing her ages old friends acting like a couple just made her embarrassed to even LOOK at.
As Sonata continued her attempts to woo Aria, the younger siren got more and more uncomfortable and disinterested. This was not how she felt like spending her weekend. On an almost-date with Sonata. She only had one way out of this, playing along.
"I'm sorry, Sonata, but time seems to have caught up with us. I must get home before the strike of," Aria glanced at a fake watch on her wrist, "Now."
Sonata smiled, walking Aria back to Adagio. "And that's how you act like a gentlemare! Finally, you end the night on a high note!"

After a few minutes of the leader trying to revive Aria, she gave up and left the room to call her girlfriend. Aria came to her senses a few moments after Adagio had left, staring at the mirror across from herself. She saw blue lipstick coating her purple lips, lifting her hand to wipe some onto her finger. She briefly thought about Spitfire possibly still being angry over their altercation a week ago, but quickly remembered the smile that had spread across the athlete's face and disregarded her anxiety. With another deep breath, Adagio unlocked her phone and headed straight to the contacts. She scrolled through the names of many before reaching the only one out of place without a proper name. She chuckled.
"Spitwad," Adagio said as she clicked the call button.
First ring.
Second ring.
Fourth.
At the fifth ring, an unknown woman's voice answered with a yawn, "Hello?"
Adagio went silent, anger brewing in her. "Who is this?"
"Who's this?"
The siren bit her tongue, holding in a deep breath as she spoke through gritted teeth. "Adagio Dazzle." She did not want to play the typical 'I'm her girlfriend' card.
"Oh! Spitfire's girlfriend!" the unfamiliar voice rang. "She talks about you all the time."
Adagio sighed in semi-relief, at least this person knew Spitfire. "Yes, I'm sure. And you are?"
"Fleetfoot, I'm her best friend. Spits is in the shower, sorry. I can tell her to call you back if you want?" the voice replied.
"No, no, I can talk to you. You're her "best friend", right?" Adagio's face split into a wide grin.
"Yep, that is correct! Have been since we were in 1st grade," Fleetfoot said plainly.
"Then, can you help your best friend's girlfriend with a surprise for Spitw--fire?"
There was a long pause at the other end of the line. Adagio began to wonder if she had made a mistake asking for this favor before Fleetfoot answered in a whisper.
"Whaddaya have in mind?"
The grin returned, Adagio instinctively biting her lip as if Fleetfoot could see it. "I want to surprise Spitfire with a nice dinner at her house, so could you possibly get her out of there for a few hours, leave a key under the mat or whatever, and let me work on making it a romantic evening?"
Another pause.
"If your caller ID didn't say 'Dagi the Hottie' I'd say no, but since she trusts you, sure. I'll put your number in my phone and tell you when you can head over. I'll give you her address," the white-haired woman agreed.

"67 Bridleway Drive, apartment 14. Third floor," Fleetfoot spoke slowly.
Adagio mentally pictured the lofts there, as far as she remembered they were well maintained and very expensive. "Thank you.. Fleetfoot, was it?" she asked rhetorically,
"I thought you said you had a great memory, Dazzle?" Fleetfoot answered with a laugh. "I'll text you when we're far enough away."
"Much obliged," the siren gave her thanks as she hung up.
Adagio grinned as she went to the bathroom, only to realize she hadn't showered in a week. Her hair was a mess and her body felt physically disgusting. She stripped quickly, turning on the water to let it warm up. She glanced down at her pubic area, grimacing a bit. "Gotta hire the gardener again," she mumbled, grabbing her razor out of the cabinet, along with some shaving cream.
The siren stepped into the shower, quickly grabbing the shampoo she had specially created for her hair and lathering up her many curls. She made sure to scrub it into the roots and quickly took a bladed comb to her split ends. After the entirety of her hair was soaped up, she washed it out to put conditioner in. Once both the shaving cream and conditioner were washed off, she stepped out of the shower into a towel, warming up her curling iron and plugging in the hair dryer. When she finally got to the apartment building, she was amazed at the elegance of the residence. But her amazement would have to wait, she had a job to do. She ascended the staircase, grabbed the spare key, and let herself inside. She smiled at the clean home, quickly getting to work on making it the most romantic place on Earth, and no doubt soon the most romantic night of Spitfire's life.

The tables were set. The decor was lovely. The woman was proud. The night was young.

It was only a few minutes of stepping out into the snowy parking lot did Spitfire figure out three things. One, it was going to be a very snowy winter. Two, Fleetfoot drove them to fucking Canterlot for the past 3 hours, a fifteen minute drive. And three, the parking lot had ice. Everywhere.
One misstep sent Spitfire back into the carseat, albeit less gracefully. She stood herself up once more, taking cautious steps until the ground felt solid asphalt, not icephalt.
"You spent 3 hours driving me to Canterlot Mall," Spitfire slipped on her Wonderbolts bomber, stuffing her hands in the pockets. Her fingers felt a worn strip of paper, causing her to smile. It had been a few months since she met Adagio, and despite their disputes she had grown to really enjoy the time they spent together.
"That is correct, yes," Fleetfoot smiled, zipping her own Wonderbolts bomber jacket up, putting on her winter hat. "I love the snow, don't you, Spits?
"Whatever. I need to find gifts for the family anyway."
The two showmen walked into the mall, the inside warmer than the snow, but still not warm enough to discard their winter warmth. At least not at the moment. Spitfire and Fleetfoot had only been to Canterlot mall when they were kids and starting high school, before transferring to Cloudsdale Academy. Still, the Wondercolt spirit never left their hearts.
Just as with any public place they went, people recognized them. Shades and minding their own business never stopped the Wonderbolts' fans from flocking to them. Spitfire averaged anywhere from three to twenty autographs a day. Fleetfoot was tied with her on that front, sometimes even giving more. Always a comfortable rivalry.
When Spitfire met Fleetfoot, they were 7. They both went to Canterlot Grade School, and they immediately became best friends. Together, they had won and beat every record in Canterlot School District's history. When they met Soarin in high school, that only sent them further. Spitfire, Fleetfoot and their best friend Soarin had gone from kids with little dreams to an unstoppable force of nature. Spitfire always saw them as that way. They were fire, lightning and a hailstorm. Faust help any team in their way to victory. It sometimes took lightning to make fire, and that is the best way to describe their friendship. Fleetfoot was always there for her, and Spitfire was always there for her in return. She loved her best friend and the craziest bitch in her life.
Even if she dragged her out on mundane adventures leaving them in a mall food court.

Spitfire always felt eyes on her, but right now? She felt like someone was boring holes into her skull with how much they were staring. It wasn't uncommon, but it was very uncomfortable. Spitfire looked around, trying to not make it obvious she was finding the culprit of the thorough staredown she didn't think she'd have today. After a few minutes of searching, she turned around to see a very familiar face. She recognized those cerise eyes anywhere.
"Hey Rainbow Dash," Spitfire gave her number 1 superfan a smile. "Got a staring problem?"
The soccer star flushed in embarrassment, rubbing the back of her head and chuckling, running up to her. Spitfire stood up to hug her, causing the teen to squeak.
"Hi ma'am, it's so good to see you! What are you doing in Canterlot?" Rainbow asked, giving a smile to her idol.
"I'm on a wild adventure to nowhere, thanks to Fleetfoot over there," Spitfire replied, letting out a puff of air in a sigh. She heard Fleetfoot say a quick "yo" to Dash, smiling and shaking her head. "You here with your friends?"
"Huh? Oh yeah! They're somewhere. I had to get a new issue of Daring Do, and the new vinyl figure set of you and the Wonderbolts!" Dash smiled, taking it out of the bag to show off. "First one off the shelves!"
"That's really impressive, I expect nothing less from our biggest fan," Spitfire smiled warmly, then chuckled at Rainbow's expression. "...you want us to sign it, huh?"
Rainbow smiled, trying to not show her excitement and failing, "If.. you're not busy?"
Spitfire rolled her eyes, grabbing the permanent marker from her inner jacket pocket, smiling and signing right over where her figure posed. "To Rainbow Dash, never change, see you in the air. Captain Spitfire."
Fleetfoot stood up behind her, taking the pen to sign her own figure. "Dash, stay wild. See you in those planes someday! Fleetfoot." The co-captain smiled, handing it back to the athlete.
"Thanks so much! Oh my gosh!" Rainbow looked at the autographed merch. "You guys are amazing!" When she glanced up again, her eye caught the discoloration on Spitfire's cheek. A scar?
Without thinking, Rainbow Dash blurted out about it, asking what had happened. The mohwaked woman brought her hand to her face, rubbing the burn mark. "Just a crazy first night with my girlfriend."
"She burned you?" Dash asked, concerned.
"Yeah, but she thought it was in self defense. We woke up together and neither of us really remembered each other. Don't do that, by the way. Drinking, burning your partner, or taking a drunk girl home with non-friendly intentions. That was my bad. Her bad too."
Dash gave a small salute, smirking. "So who's Mrs. Captain Spitfire?" She teased, poking Spitfire's phone in her hand. "Can I see?"
Spitfire rolled her eyes playfully, taking out her phone to find a non-nude of Adagio. She smiled at one she sent her that she particularly loved. Adagio sat on her bed, legs crossed with a cute dark purple dress on, heels that accented her perfect legs, bedazzled phone in her hands as her arms squeezed her already pushed up breasts to add more cleavage. Her hair was amazing as always, and her face said "you can't have me" and "take me" at the same time.
"This is her," Spitfire showed the Rainboom the picture, smiling with a soft blush of her own on her cheeks.
Contrary to Spitfire's happy expression, all joy and all emotion but pure anxiety drained from Dash's face. "...Adagio Dazzle?"
Spitfire looked confused for a moment, before immediately remembering that it was Rainbow Dash and her band that had beaten and incapacitated her once siren girlfriend.
With a cautious smile she nodded.
"You.. know what she is, right?"
Before Spitfire could respond, Fleetfoot's phone alarm went off and she grabbed her hand. "Sorry, Dash, we gotta go! Tell the crew we say hey!"
With that, Fleetfoot dragged Spitfire back to the mall entrance and to her car, rushing her to get in. Back where she left Rainbow Dash, the athlete was now looking for her friends. She had to alert them of the situation. Rainbow Dash quickly took out her phone and dialed Sunset Shimmer, waiting for her to pick up the other line.
"Hey Rainbow Dash, where are you?" Sunset greeted her on the other end.
"By the food court, and I have some bad news for you guys.."
Fleetfoot drove up to Spitfire's apartment, smiling. "Get out."
Spitfire looked her way, confusion on her face. "This is my car, Fleet-"
"Get out, trust me."
"Alright fine, I'll trust you."
This was further than the truth, but Spitfire complied. As soon as she shut the door, Fleetfoot sped off. "Hey! That's my fucking car, Fleetfoot!!" Despite her protests, the car only kept going, leaving Spitfire to walk to her apartment. Oh well, Fleetfoot had to return it anyway, she had left her motorcycle here. In the snow.
Spitfire quickly covered the bike with a tarp, climbing the stairs to her apartment. With all the wasted time, it was late into the evening. The streetlights illuminated the night, causing a gentle, calming aura for the block. Spitfire fumbled with her key, walking into her apartment and shaking off the flakes of snow on her jacket. The pilot hung it up, and placed her shades by them. She tried flicking on the light, but the fuses were either frozen or out. Resigning to walk in the dark, she turned the corner into her house to see at least 30 candles being used for light, some unscented some scented. It was a Hearthswarming smell, typical for this time of year. Spitfire couldn't place it, and soon didn't care to. Around the corner waited her gorgeous goddess of a girlfriend, wearing the same beautiful outfit from her favorite picture. Slight differences showed, her hair was down tonight, and she wore a necklace with her own name on it. With a grin that could kill a man, Adagio walked to Spitfire's place in the room, her height almost equal to Spitfire's in her heels.
"I thought about underdressing to match you.. but that isn't my style."
Adagio's words ghosted her ear, causing Spitfire's face to flush once more. She smiled, trying to be confident, but failing. This wasn't the first nor last time, though. The pilot was getting used to it.
"I didn't expect any less from you, Dagi.." Spitfire looked into her girlfriend's eyes, the predatory glint of a siren seemingly never vanished. She always felt small after looking into Adagio's eyes. Like she could see the past, but it was never revealed to her in full. Never. Adagio never let the window to her soul open for anyone.
"I made dinner, would you like to join me?" Adagio's beautiful voice broke the silence, Spitfire's reverie being broken for the moment.
"I'd love to."
The dinner was a dish she didn't recognize. The only thing she could place was that the main entree was fish. That seemed to be Adagio's favorite, and for a split second Spitfire wondered why. Then her brain realized why and she felt stupid. "Dazzle Delight" sure lived up to its name, and she was loving every bite. Despite being the same dish, every bite was a new flavor, as if every atom was individually spiced. "Delight" was an understatement. It was a god damn national treasure.
"This.." Spitfire began, unable to find the proper words. There were none. She took another bite, swallowing the food after savoring it. Again, no words could describe it. Was everything about Adagio a gift from a god she needed to worship, now? Yes, yes everything was. "This is really fucking good." Spitfire settled on that, smiling at her girlfriend.
Adagio returned the smile, finishing her plate and placing it in the sink. Spitfire followed soon after, cleaning the dishes while Adagio put out the 30+ fire hazards in her living room.
"Spitfire, I'll be in your bedroom when you want to join me.."
Spitfire smirked from the kitchen, following Adagio after putting away the dishes. She stepped into the room to find Adagio undressed herself to her underwear, wearing a matching black set of lace panties and a bra. Her body had all the curves of the statues of ancient Greece. She was perfection.. Spitfire almost couldn't believe she had this woman in her bed, waiting for her.
Without thinking, Spitfire breathed out a deep breath she didn't know she had been holding. "Holy hell, I love you.."
Silence.
Dead silence and a hand over Spitfire's mouth, a look of pure shock on Adagio's. Words unspoken between them had been spoken for the first time. Not in a heat of passion, where they can use the afterglow to foggy-think about things and give a short, breathy response. Not where either can leave to think about the confession and avoid their feelings. Spitfire said it in the most impossible way possible. Admiring her girlfriend, not even fully nude, with a blush on her face and heart on a cutting board for Adagio to decide what to do with it. She gave her love to a siren. One that could hold it in her hands and decide to squish it or nurture it.
In retrospect, a few months ago the eldest siren may have decided to destroy that heart in her hands.
Adagio didn't even notice she was crying until Spitfire rushed to her side, trying to comfort her in words she ignored.
Spitfire loves her? She couldn't be lying. She couldn't. It was a huge thing to say, especially only four months into their relationship. Adagio had no idea what this meant. Did this mean they would be serious? She had to have a set of plans for everything. She hated being unable to think. Unable to process. She hated that this made her cry.. that this girl made her feel things she never had.
Oh fuck she loved her too.
Adagio Dazzle, immortal siren, destroyer of relationships and many lives.. was in love.
This realization only made the older girl sob harder into Spitfire's arms, only made her hug her tighter. She was in love and she had no idea why it hurt so bad.
Spitfire held Adagio tight, unable to figure out why the woman always so held together was falling apart in her arms. Nevertheless, she held her tight. She made sure she was safe and comfortable, holding her close and not for a second letting her go. She had said it. She loves her. Spitfire loves her and she'll make sure the woman she loves is comfortable no matter what.
After a few minutes of the sobs turning to sniffles.. there was a soft murmur from Adagio.
"Huh?" Spitfire looked down from her angle.
Another incomprehensible response.
"Adagio, you're too muffled.."
The siren lifted her head, staring into Spitfire's eyes. "Why?"
Spitfire looked confused for a moment. "Why what?"
Adagio adjusted her sitting, the comfort welcome but the position was murder on her back. "Why do you love me?"
Spitfire looked at her, even more confused. "Do I need an exact reason?"
Adagio looked up at her, glaring. "You know what I am and yet you say you love me, are you insane?"
"This again? Adagio, you know how I see you. You're the first girl to ever make me happy. The first one I didn't leave behind. You have something about you I can't place but.. it's like a million things I can't place. You're a mystery. A fucking enigma. I can't tell you specifically what I love because I love all of you. Every bit. And whatever I don't know yet, I'll love. Because you.. you're so fucking unique.. so special.. it drives me crazy. I love you because I can't place why I love you, and I love you because you're you.. I never fell this hard. I've never fell this fast. I've never.. been in love. You're the first girl I've said those words to."
Adagio listened to Spitfire pour her heart out. It wasn't something she understood, but.. something about the way Spitfire was. How she acted and how she helped Adagio, not because she was beautiful, but because she was Adagio.. really struck a chord in her soul. The siren wasn't sure what to say, but she knew she couldn't say anything untruthful here.
"Spitfire.. I appreciate your words. I can't say I love you too, though.. I don't even think I'm capable of love. Or anything like it," Adagio spoke, sighing. "But I can tell you that I'm willing to think about my feelings.. and maybe someday, if it's possible for someone like me to feel that way, I'll be able to say what you want me to. I will not say what you want to hear just because you said it. I respect you way too much to lie like that." Adagio concluded her thoughts on the matter, to her surprise Spitfire smiled at her.
"That's good enough for me, babe." Spitfire smiled, getting up and grabbing Adagio an oversized shirt of her own. "Here, I think we both need some rest. You can borrow this."
Adagio took the shirt, ditching the bra and putting it on. It smelled of Spitfire and a slight hint of ash, as if she burned it before and it just came back to be. "Thank you, Spitfire."
The couple snuggled up under the blankets of the pilot's bed, the siren snuggling into Spitfire's arms and holding her close. Spitfire looked out the window, watching the glass freeze over as snow piled on the sill. She looked down at the woman in her arms, kissing her forehead. Even if Adagio might not feel the same way, she said she was willing to think on her feelings. With barely a whisper, the pilot spoke the words softly against her skin, properly this time.
"I love you, Adagio."
There was nothing for a moment, and Spitfire assumed her lovely girlfriend had fallen asleep. But there was no mistaking the soft, melodic voice that responded.
"Thank you, Spitfire."

Fights and Confessions
Spitfire led her beautiful new girlfriend back to her car. She laced their fingers as her shoes slightly squeaked on the tile. Her panties were still wet, clinging to her skin. If not for the amazing sex she just had, she'd be irritated and desperate to get them off. The athlete looked to her side, smiling at Adagio.
Adagio's face was struck with moonlight one moment, then it would shade over again as they passed the frames. The moonlight shone against her face, almost making her glow. She strode with even more confidence as usual, her hand gripping the hand of her new-found lover, almost as if she thought Spitfire would run away if she let go.
As they rounded a corner, Spitfire stopped so quickly it yanked Adagio and made her own sneakers squeak loudly. Before Adagio could respond she covered her mouth and ducked against the lockers, praying that they wouldn't clatter or bang as they stood against them. She stood silently, taking soft, deep breaths.
A muffled protest brought Spitfire back from her unpleasant reverie.
"I'm going to take off my hand, I need you to stay quiet," Spitfire whispered to Adagio as quietly as she could.
With an eye roll and a nod in response, Spitfire removed her hand and peeked around the corner at a janitor making his rounds. He was a young, blue skinned man with scruffy darker blue hair. He wiped his forehead, not looking in their direction but Spitfire wasn't taking chances.
"Okay, so there's a janitor making his rounds over there. And the nearest exit is down that way," she pointed in the opposite direction from the janitor. "It's in plain sight, but if we're quiet, he won't notice."
Adagio gave a skeptical look, but nodded. "I'd rather get out of here as fast as possible."
She gripped Spitfire's hand, before being lifted onto her back with a silent yelp.
"It's easier this way. You could never keep up with me."
With that statement, Spitfire took off in a sprint, being careful to not squeak her sneakers with turns. She bolted for the door, carrying the siren on her back and panting quietly when they got to it. She let her down, trying to open the door quietly, but it made a loud, clunky sound when the lock's tumbler turned over.
"HEY!"
Spitfire thrust it open, the light silhouetting the two girls as they ran out. The two of them ran and ran. They ran two whole blocks from the school to Spitfire's car before they stopped, Adagio desperately trying to catch her breath.
"The next time... we go out... and you plan on trespassing... tell me so I don't wear fucking heels !!" Adagio yelled between breaths.
Spitfire laughed with what breath she had, unlocking her car and getting in, Adagio joining her in the passenger seat. "That was such a rush!"
"It was close, that's what it was. Your idiocy nearly got us into major trouble. Be more careful," Adagio folded her arms, her breath not fully caught up.
"I didn't know janitors worked that late, Dagi," Spitfire said with a tone that did not sit well with Adagio.
"Well you should . You have the brains enough to fly a plane, but not to know how late they can work?"
"Hey! You said it would be fun, and it was!"
"I never said such a thing, stop putting words in my mouth, you idiot."
"Okay, you know what?! I already apologized, so stop giving me the third degree! We got away, be happy about that!"
And with that last remark, Spitfire put her Mustang in reverse, slamming on the accelerator and pulling out of her spot. The force made Adagio lurch forward, who thankfully had her seatbelt on. She put it in first gear, flipping a U and driving away from the school, Sugarcube Corner, and the police sirens behind them.

The drive back to the Dazzlings' condo was short, but the tension in the car was making it seem longer. Spitfire was fuming, her mind set on just getting to the apartment, then going home to shower and sleep. Adagio was angrier, having not had the last word, she felt her pride had been wounded. But for some reason she felt something else, an emotion that never crossed her before.
Anger? No.
Sadness? Too trivial.
No. It was something more than the usual pissy feeling she got after "choosing to lose an argument", as she would put it in her words. She lifted her hand to twirl the gem at her neck, to only shirk away at the feeling of air where the polygon gem used to be. She looked at her hand, as if expecting the shards to crumble in her palm once more. Adagio glanced at the mohawked girl next to her, watching her face for a moment as she studied the anger in her expression. She really seemed to strike a chord in Spitfire, but why did her anger not make her happy? Why did it not cause her the same joy as it once did? Instead of a hunger momentarily satiated, she felt a stabbing feeling in her heart. Like someone had struck it with a metaphorical ice pick.
"Spitfire."
"What?"
Adagio winced at the athlete's tone, swallowing a lump in her throat before continuing.
"Listen. I.. I didn't mean what I said. I mean, I meant it in the moment, but.. now I just feel bad. I've never known this feeling. I don't know what to call it. I just wish I hadn't been.. rude to you," Adagio had trouble saying the words, as if speaking a foreign language, looking at her lap now.
"Remorse."
Adagio looked up at Spitfire quizzically. "Huh?"
"Remorse, a deep regret or guilt for a wrong committed," Spitfire didn't look at her, but spoke with a softer tone.
"But sirens don't have remorse," Adagio spoke with a slight offended tone.
"But you aren't a siren anymore, are you? We're here," Spitfire gently braked, putting her car in park.
Adagio looked at her for a moment before Spitfire got out, walking to her door and opening it for her.
"I'll walk you up," Spitfire offered her hand.
Adagio took the hand, keeping it in her grasp. She heard the chirp of the car locking, staying silent as they trudged up the few flights of stairs. What Spitfire said had got her thinking in the silence. The god damned silence.
'I'm.. not a siren anymore? No, I have to be, I still have the beauty. But a siren has beauty and a voice. How can I be a siren if I don't have my gem?'
As they finally got to her door, Adagio pushed the thought aside and turned to Spitfire.
"I'm sorry," she spoke through gritted teeth, as if her body didn't want to say what her mind felt.
"I forgive you. I'm sorry for snapping at you," Spitfire took her into an embrace, kissing her with a soft passion.
The kiss, while devoid of tongue, was deep, emotional, and long. They simply kissed to show how much they have grown to care about each other. It was simple to show, hard to say. But as their lacking of the skill of not breathing reared its head, they parted.
Spitfire took a breath and sighed gently. "I'll see you soon, Dagi."
"Yeah, good night," Adagio replied, giving a soft smile, watching the mohawked girl walking towards the steps. "Hey, Spitfire?"
"Yeah?" the athlete turned slightly, hand on the rail.
"I.. like you. A lot." the poofy haired girl said, her face turning a slight red in the dim-lit hallway.
With a smile, Spitfire gripped the rail.
"I like you a lot, too, Dagi."
