Child of Nightfall

   "Thou art I, I art thou child" a voice says as I uselessly run from whatever is chasing me, "Thou can't outrun thy's destiny."

I continue running down the endless shambled corridor that seems to be some ruins. I make a hard right looking behind me every now and then to try and see if I lost what was chasing me, and to my relief I had. "Good finally lost that thing" I exhale through my nostrils trying to catch my breath, "What was that anyways?!" I look around the corner and only see darkness, I turn around and see darkness again down every corridor. "Am I dreaming? Or is this some joke?" I ask myself hoping its a dream rather than some cruel joke. I look at the walls carefully and see it's all stone covered in moss, the carpet is all ragged and disheveled maybe even aged. "Where am I exactly this doesn't look like someplace I know of" I state wondering down a corridor filled with standing headless corpses, "W-w-where am I exactly?" I tremble as I go further in to the corridor and the corpses seem to be looking newer on the left side and on the right they seem to be getting older more rotten looking. "I need to find a way out and quick!" I cry seeing as though the further I go into the corridor the darker.

"BIG BROTHER!!" a familiar voice cries out to me.

"A-Adrastera?!" I run towards her voice but the more I run into the corridor the more it seems to stretch, "Adrastera where are you?!" I  stop and yell waiting to hear which direction her voice is coming from.

"Big brother help.....me...." Adrastera replies.

"Adra-" I turn to face where her voice was coming from I walk towards the voice of my little sister and fall to my knees as soon as I see the object on the floor.

" B-big b-broth..er" the voice echoes from the head of my little sister, "You love me right big brother?" the voice continues this time from the corridor and not the head on the floor in front of me.

I wanted to see why the voice was coming from the corridor ,but as soon as I tilted my head up I jolted in the upright position on my bed drenched from top to bottom in sweat my eyes watery and possibly red from crying. "W-what is going on just yesterday I was dreaming about winning a race and know I don't know what that was" I rub my eyes from any sleep still caught in them.

"Sweetheart are you okay I hear yelling?" my Mother's voice asks from behind the door, "I'm coming in now."

"Okay Mothe-" I look at her surprised seeing Princess Luna, but with my Mother's voice coming out of mouth. I watch her sit on the bed next to me with a concerned look on her face.

"What's wrong Middy? Are you having a nightmare?" She asks.

"Uh.. huh?" I blink a couple of times and see my Mother again, "Y-yea I was having a nightmare."

"Yea it looks like it, you're sweating buckets and your forehead feels hot maybe you have a fever as well?" She states putting her hoof on my damp forehead, "We can go to Nurse Redheart tomorrow morning how's that?" She asks as she finishes tying a small towel around my forehead noticeably.

"Alright Mother thank you" I reply hugging her, "Is it alright if I could help with some chores tomorrow?"

"You know the rules Middy schooldays you help after homework is done, and you can call me mom as well right?" She jokingly nuzzles me as she pulls the covers over my body, "But what you could help me with tonight is get some sleep fair?"

"Yea that's fair" I sigh turning towards her on my side pulling the covers over my shoulder.

"Mommy?" Adrastera calls from the door.

"Oh hey sweety sorry I see we woke you up" Mother smiles picking up Adrastera.

"Night Mother" I say softly closing my eyes.

"Night honey" I hear her say before I fall asleep.

"Middy wake up it's morning" I groan as Mother tries waking me up by pulling the covers off.

"Why do ponies wake up in the morning? The morning should just stay away" I groan as I pull back on the covers.

"Cause then we wouldn't have breakfast" She replies softly in my ear, "Now just wake up please breakfast is ready and your friend is here"

"Okay mother tell her I'll be down in a bit" "I reply sitting upright rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.

'Hopefully I don't have to go through that dream with the Nurse or Doctor' I think to myself putting on a new set of clothes. I grab my schoolbag and head downstairs to see my neighbor/friend Paradisa.

"Morning Nix" Paradisa greets me with a smile while sitting at the table and was seemingly talking to Mother before I came down.

"What's going on?" I asks them both to see why Mother was trying to stifle a laugh, "Something funny?"

"Nothing Sweety just eat your breakfast" Mother tells me continuing her cooking all the while laughing quietly from time to time.

"Morning Hun" my Father says after walking in to the kitchen and I flinch when he taps my shoulder, "Where's the little one?"

"I-In her room asleep she starts school in an hour or so" Mother states turning off the stove and places two plates on the table with eggs, toast, and hash browns.

"Alright and how are you son?" Father asks me between the newspaper as I eat my breakfast.

"F-fine I guess" I reply eating my breakfast then finish getting ready for school.

"So what was that all about?" Paradisa asks me, "Is your dad mean or something?"

"Nothing d-don't worry about it besides it's the last week of school correct?" I answer with a question.

"Yea and for the promotion I got a some new clothes maybe me, you, and the others could hang out?" she suggests sitting next to me on the couch, "Maybe I can get Iso to come along."

"Y-yea maybe I-Iso could come along" I stutter blushing slightly unnoticeable.

"Nix you know she will come along all we got to do is ask, now come on before we are late for class" Paradisa says getting up and grabbing her satchel.

"Fine I'll meet you outside just give me one minute" I sigh grabbing my stuff watching Paradisa leave the house, "Ok where did I put that book?"

"This one big brother?" Adrastera asks carrying my book on "Equestrian History."

"Yea thank you" I smile patting her head, "Where was it?"

"You left it on the floor in my room" Adrastera replies then hands me the book and hugs me afterwards, "Have a good day at school big brother."

"Ok be good alright do everything the teacher asks you okay?" I ask her smiling.

"Alright" Adrastera giggles holding out a plastic bag to me, "Here me and mommy made this for you last night."

"Thanks I'll be sure to eat this lunch Mother and you made" I smile wondering if Mother did most of the work."

"Promise?" Adrastera tugs on my shirt before I have a chance to head out the door.

"Promise" I ruffle her head a bit seeing a smile in her face, "Alright I got to go now be good."

"Ok bye" Adrastera hugs me goodbye.

"I'll see you later" I state leaving the house and closing the door behind me.
