Lord Of Bones
Chapter 9: Slaughter Of The Everfree
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Just as expected." I whispered with delight, smiling under my mask. Based on the reports, Celesta was quickly building her forces in Ponyville. But first, I must admit, this wasn't my original plan. But thanks to Luna's intervention into my mind, I’ve had to formed a new one on the go. While this new plan is not as complicated and a bit less full proof, it was going down either way. My new plan? Thanks to Luna's strong connection with Celestia, I had gathered enough information to fully predict her reactions to my next moves. And so far, it's is going perfectly. First, I needed to distract Celestia to build up my forces. And thanks too my superiority over Luna's subconsciousness, I had trapped her into her own eternal nightmare. The coma would be only be temporary, being fueled by her own fears and magic. The only way to end it was to cut off her magical signature or depleting her of magic. This had been enough to completely distract her from my forces arming up and rebuilding the fort. Once my forces were armed and ready, I cut off my hold on Luna's broken mind, ready to see her next actions.
But she did nothing, still at her sister's bedside until she was awake. This was not to big of a surprise, seeing as Celestia and Luna were sisters with a strong bond. To be separated for a thousand years and then suddenly be separated once again must have taken taken a toll on the sunbut's mind. So I did the most obvious thing. I sent her some mail, detailing how much fun I had with her little sister. This had been the final straw to ignite the anger she had kept boiling down. And boy. I could feel the wrath of the sun from here! All pissed and blind by rage. This was almost too perfect. And thanks to Luna being updated on the modern Equestria military, I had all of their battle plans stored away in the back of my mind. Again, this was too easy. I could already taste the blood of my completely massacred enemy. Hell, this forest will be written as the next bloodiest battle in Equestria. All to be played out in my own style. This almost felt like one of those command and conquer games. Except this time, I held all of the card. It was just a matter on how I played them out.
But how will I do this? Well it is true that I am outnumbered 30 to 1 with enemy that can use both magic and has air superiority. Even with those odds, I was going to the victor of this battle. How could I accomplish such a thing? They forgot one very important thing. I am Malus Messor, and their battling on my terms. Thanks to my mastery in Corruption Magic, I was able to subdue the Tree of Harmony. And that powerful crystal tree is the reason why the forest is so uncontrollable. But when I corrupted the tree and it's elements, I gained it's mighty power. While I could use these gems to aid me in battle, I decided to go another route. A much more tactical route to be exact.
Using my Corruption Magic once again, I infected the raw power known as the Elements of Harmony. In doing this, I created a infectious magic that binds both wildlife and plant life to my will. From the trees high to the mice below, the Everfree Forest was under my magical domain, ready to fight and die at a moment's notice. I had literally turned this forest into both a deadly weapon and protective shield of life and magic. And the best part that keeps me laughing? The Equestrians have no idea they were about to trap themselves within my deathly cold grasp.
I had exactly a hundred battle trained Diamond Dogs, all of then trained to kill till their last breath. They were all fitted in a plain gray uniform, fitted with some leather padding over the joints. Next they had a long sleeved steel chain shirt over their protective padding. And finally, I had fashioned finest steel armor known. While the armor was on the heavier side, it did not hinder them. Since most Diamond Dogs could lift boulders twice their size, the added protection did not hinder their movement whatsoever. Every armor set was also enchantment to take the beating and absorb blunt blasts magic related attacks. I also added some basic steel bracers to go over wrists. Since their paws were overly huge, normal knight gauntlets were out of the question.
But one thing that changed everything was a solid steel helmet. But the special thing about this helmet was the enchantments I place on it. In a sense, it was a communication link. But instead of giving battleground Intel, it gave direct orders and skills into their minds. Thanks to Luna's memories when she was training to become a warrior, I could literally download this training into the helms without a problem. Thus, turning each one of my dogs into a trained killing machine. Thanks to that helmet alone, it solved all the time that could have been wasted on training.
But no warrior is a true badass without his signature weapon! All of them were armed with a sharp Roman Javelin. This deadly spear like weapon was half metal with a sharp and strong spear tip while the other half was a wooden handle. These Javelins were enchanted to absorb most forms of magical energy, perfect for raining chaos through magical barriers. But as wonderful as these weapons were, my horde needed blade, thus I made short, double edge sword with a scabbard. These were also enchanted to absorb magic as well to give a good enough blast of electricity to melt stone. My warriors were also equipped with a simple steel dagger as a backup if things came too close for comfort.
And the final thing I made for my new and trained soldiers was a shield. But this shield was no ordinary shield. It was a Roman style Scutum Shield. While I had to design it to be fitting for Diamond Dogs, it did the same amount of protection as it originally would. Add this all up with a hundred strong and armored Diamond Dogs. Believe me, this was a sight to behold. These were my soldiers, ready to die and kill for the glory of my Empire. But there is one question left out of all of this. How did I make a exactingly a hundred sets of enchanted armor and weapons?
That was quite an easy answer. I just simply used the huge boost from the Tree of harmony to increase my production tenfold. Though it took two whole days to make all of armor sets and weapons. While forging took most of my time, the spells were much easier to cast. Like copy and pasting, that is what I did for a good half of the third day. The other half of the third day I rested in my throne. I also assigned Zeke to organise our trading with the other Diamond Dogs, promising to keep the deal after we dealt with the ponies. The fourth day, I continued to spread and strengthen my corrupting magic throughout the Everfree, completely taking over all of the plant life in the forest. I also rested most of that day as well, saving up my magicka for the raging bitch.
When I was finally finished resting, I sent my massage and took part in a feast of the future battle to come. It was now the fifth day since my encounter with Luna, and Celestia had massed up a three battalions. Her forces ranged to around 1,000 Earth ponies, 1,000 Pegasi, and 1,000 Unicorns. This all totalling up to 3,000 ponies armed in gold and wielding silver weapons. All of them lead by none other than the royal nusense named Princess Celestia. And she has just started her march into the forest. Oh goody! Time for war! Or better yet, the slaughterhouse!
The two forces met in a open dirt field, cleared of all vegetation. The leveled field stretched a bit over a square mile, giving plenty of room for both sides to battle. Celestia had her forces in formation. The earth ponies were obviously on the front lines, ready to get down and dirty with my warriors. The Surprisingly, the unicorns were positioned close to the Earth Ponies, using multiple magic shields to block attack going through, but allowing swords to go out. This kind of tactic was obviously used for something similar as mass riots. Ha! They think my deadly hounds are mere angry rioters? How disappointing. Most of the Pegasi were station in the back. While there are a six teams of scouts, mostly used for battle reports and observing enemy movement. The rest of the airborne Pegasi were most likely to be used in the second wave in their completely obvious plan.
Their plan? Based on my knowledge, she was going let the dogs charge in like some mad animals. When my forces were close enough, The ponies would heavily push from both the left and right, cutting a line through my forces. If this went down, she would have over half of my troops surrounded and slaughtered. The rest of my troops would flee as any dumb Diamond Dogs do if scared. Then the bombardment of the Pegasi would commence, scattering my soldiers to a few frightened survivors. Then the main forces would continue onwards and invade my now guardless fort. This would happen, if I was dumb and ignorant like any other villain they’ve faced before. But unlike all before me, I have the most deadly weapon in my arsenal.
Knowledge is a key to a door of victory, and I have billions of keys. The vast amount of knowledge I have does not only surpasses both Celestia and Luna, but the ability to instantly access such information on a whim is the true factor to my superiority. If anything, my mind was a magical grid of magic and knowledge, running at the pace of a high powered digital computer. After all, knowledge is power. And if I’m right, I testing the limits of John Dalberg’s famous quote; “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. Now add my merciless and efficient soul into this magical mess, I am a monster you do not want as a enemy. For every foe will blow on their crippled knees, not bagging, but accepting their doomed fates into oblivion. And thanks to my knowledge, I can clearly see through her plans.
My plan? Well, I am going to avoid this wasting of my soldiers by foiling the first part of Celestia’s plan. I would not send my forces to charge like wild mongrels. Instead, I will let them come to me. They can’t make my troops go to them, so they will have to come to me if they wish to battle. And let’s just say that they didn’t get the memo immediately. Thus, there was a long, very long, awkward staring contest between the two of us. I was safely on my throne in my upgraded fort. Using my magic, I was observing the land from a bird's eye view, giving exact orders through my magical communicational link to my troops. Thankfully, Celesta finally gave the order to advance. The Earth Ponies charged across the field, the battle had begun, bloodshed was now imminent.
Once the ponies were a in range, I gave the order for death. A hundred Enchanted Javelins were sent soaring into the air, raining spears of death down upon the ponies. Thanks to the enchantments, they sliced through the magical shields like jello and speared the ponied below. As predicted, they immediately fell into chaos and became completely disorganized. My dogs did not charge, but marched with in rhythm. They also chanted a song I made, sounding dark and giving of an area of power with their voice. This was both to confuse the enemy and permanently burn fear into my enemy.
“Onwards! We march to war!”
“To war!”
“To war!”
“TO WAR!”
“Through the Waters of Evil, we conquer all!”
“For my father, I bring honor to the family!”
“For my mother, I defend her land!”
“For my brothers, I fight to the neverend!”
“I will bring death upon the sinful, forever we shall stand.”
“For my family, I stand strong!”
“For honor, I never will surrender!”
“For the empire, I fight for my holy Lord!”
“None among us fear death, we are the Undead!”
“To war!”
“To war!”
“TO WAR!”
“Onwards! We march to war!”
At that last line, my dogs began to tear through their disorganized ranks. The few ponies that put up a fight, were stabbed and gutted, as were the rest that found themselves caught in shock. The Unicorns were quicker to reorganized and formed group shields, trying to block to marching dogs. They began blasting magic at random, trying to stop the wall of death that had already devoured 400 in minutes. Their attacks were useless as the their armor and shields held up, completely unaffected. My troops tore through their magical shields, still holding a strong formation as they mercilessly slaughter the ponies. To my surprise, some of the dogs were still chanting in rhythm with each of their deadly strikes. This made me smile as I watched and mentally gave orders to push forward. As they pushed through, they grabbed their Javelins from the pony corpses and aimed at new targets. Thanks to their massive strength, they could throw them much farther the a human. Add the installed training, their accuracy was perfect. By now, my dogs have split into squads of ten, chasing small groups and taking out the remaining ponies one by one. Celestia scouts have just arrived to inform Celesta of the battle, telling of the mass murder of her guards.
Damn! I could feel her rage explode from here! Celestia was now on the move, giving out unknown orders to her pegasi guards. The guards quickly became airborne and when into formation around Celestia. As I observed, they formed Y-Diamond formation I learned from Luna. The battalion was split into three groups, each making a diamond formation. I classed the three groups as Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. Alpha and Charlie were comprised of 250 soldiers while Bravo had a total of 500 Guards. Celestia was obviously in Bravo as I could sense her massive magical energy concentrated in the center. The three groups then Joined together in a Y shape. Alpha and Charlie in a V formation, Alpha on the left and Charlie on the Right. Bravo was in the I and stayed to protect Celestia and connect the groups. While they formed for attack, I had my troops quickly gather their Javelins and regroup as one. By the time the pony reinforcements gathered, my horde was ready. My Diamond Dogs were still a hundred strong and drenched in crimson. Quickly, they formed a huge circle and raised their shields into a dome of metal. The ponies sill charged with spears and swords, unknowing that the shield wasn't meant for protecting from the ponies.
My plan was halfway complete of annihilating the ponies. The first part was destroying the enemy ground forces and send them retreating. Unknown to the ponies, I had control of this forest. And all enemies to the Empire are sentenced to death. With this thinking, I merely waited as all of the surviving ponies retreated to their deaths. The moment the last of the surviving ponies were in the woods, I closed off all exists, trapping the scrambled remains of the Unicorn and Earth Pony battalions. The trees molded together, forming a tall wall of wood and magic. The wall stretched and encased all around the Everfree Forest, escape now impossible. The wall of trees created a magical dome over and around the forest, all forms of magical escape doomed. A sinister smile crept across my undead flesh, I gave the final order, releasing all of the wildlife into a murderous frenzy. Nothing was going to survive, these ponies were damned to the slaughterhouse of the wild. Also, let's say the bloody screams could be heard all throughout the Everfree Forest. I was sure all of the inhabitants of Ponyville are forever going to be scared. Without Luna to aid them from the nightmares, the neighboring residence are sure to spread the story of my wraith with the haunting screams.
Anyways, as that problem was dealt with, I focused on taking out my airborne enemy. Ponies have said that the weather of the Everfree forest is uncontrollable. While this is true, the reason was completely unknown. Since I corrupted the Tree of Harmony, I have control of this weather. The tree was not a living being like me or the ponies, but of pure magic. The leftovers of this magic cased the the tree to bind with the forest and it's wildlife. But the trick is that the weather was also stained with it's magic. Sadly, where the forest borders end, that is where my control of the weather also ends. That matters little at the moment. These ponies were in my territory, and I had control of the sky. With my strong mental consecration, I formed a dark storm of lightning, surrounding the ponies. Before I went further, I cast a back magical dome over my Diamond Dogs, protecting them from the coming storm of death. Celestia's forces saw this and began to push the storm away like any other normal cloud. But upon contact, their hooves melted by the magic acid. Alpha and Charlie began to quickly diminish in numbers as they fell to their deaths. The ones that did manage to survive and dive away from the deadly fog were quickly struck by lightning. Their lighter armor had copper, which instantly attracted the bright bolts upon them.
Celesta was quick to see my plan and formed a golden sphere over Bravo and survivors of Alpha and Charlie. I counted around 400 confirmed kills, leaving approximately 600 pegasi left. Celestia then roared with fury and sent a shock wave of golden magic. This blast disconnected my control of the storm. The dark clouds suddenly formed into massive bodies of magical acid and deadly chemical. The storm then splashed onto the bloody battlefield, burning the bodies in both chemical and magical reactions. In mere moments, the once littered field of the dead was cleansed of all organic and tainted in poison. Thanks to my magical shield, all of my Diamond Dogs survived the unexpected acid rainstorm. I sighed, glad to see that my forces survived. I now focused back onto the last of Celestia's forces. She was burning with so much magic that her guards had to make good distance away from being burned. She was absolutely pissed, and ready to bring it all down on me.
"MALUS MESSOR!" She yelled in the Royal Canterlot Voice.
"I wish for no more of my ponies to die. Come out and let's end this. You and me." She said, clenching her teeth as her body was nothing but flames.
"I thought you would never ask." My voice echoed throughout the sky. I summoned my Diamond Dogs back into the safety of the castle. I appeared a few dozen yards away from the flaming bitch. Celesta ordered her guards out on the sidelines, giving us enough space to battle. We stood in toxic mud Her hooves making glass upon contact with the dirt. We stood, my arms raised with magic, her horn ablaze. This is it. This is the battle that was change the course of history as we know it. Now its time to...
