Chapter 1
the discovery of the century
“Captain's log, stardate 2107.14. Another day another dollar I guess. All systems normal and as of now nothing to report” I said to the computer with the thought in the back of my head saying that nobody is ever going to read this. “On a personal note, I don't know why but this situation is well…” as I lost my train of thought, an alarm went off. “ what the hell is it this time. It better not be another false alarm.” As I said that, a red light consumed the cabin. I looked at the monitor to see what the problem was. “a micro meteor shower!? Awe great, just what I needed” I said to myself. “computer, set mag shields to max, polarize the hull plating...and Set the alarm to silent mode until the end of the alert, O and pause the recording” I said as I thru my helmet on and made my way to the control port. As I strapped myself into the seat, a second alarm went off. I looked at the side monitor to see that there was not enough power in reserves to do as I requested and the reactor were at 1% above minimum requirements. “computer, transfer power from gravity plating to shields and the reactor's power up sequences. Since the amount of power the gravity plating requires is three times the amount than the shield. That should give me the power requirements to power up the shield and give the reactor the boost it need to get to 35%.With that, I should make it out of this alive. With fingers crossed anyways.”
The storm came on to the Farragut rather mildly than expected. “Awe great. Are you saying this storm was all hype and no pay.!?” I said with a grunt expecting something out of a Sci-Fi film. I started to unbuckle my seat belt. “Well I better go do some scans of the meteors and (censored)” I said as I remembered that I transferred the power from the gravity plates to mag shield. “Computer, reestablish gravity to 1.0 Gs.” within the span of a minute, I went from being crammed into one of the upper corners to standing on my feet. I went back into the center cabin, started the scans and as I started to delete the useless info from my log, something pinged on my scans. I looked upon the monitor to see that my gravity detector pinged a gravitational distortion the size of earth. The more confusing thing was that the ping came from outside my standard scan range and that the range itself would not be able to be so defined with any form of boost, or so I thought. But due to my situation about my food and fuel restocking capability or lack there of, I decided to set my scans to full, and set course to this unknown planet.
The storm finally passed about an hour and a half and the computer set up the preset course correct. The computer estimated that it would take about a week to get there and since there is no guaranty that this planet will have life on it, the probability that this venture will be the end of me would be 73%. knowing that my chances of survival wouldn't be any better without it, I journeyed on. Or at least went to beat king Dodongo for the 27th time while the computer did the course correcting. Two days later, we were within sensor range and the scans show promising results. Grant you, the only scans that I could do at this range were heat detention and movement. “this planet looks good, what do you have to say now computer” I said but the computer replied “ heat detention and heat retention are two separate things.” “touche” I said with dissatisfied look on my face. But against the computer's odds, The closer we got to the planet, the more promise it showed. We were able to pick up signs of atmosphere and movement witch could be water. I held my hopes up high for my life depended on it.
As we arrived onto the planet, my hopes were quickly payed off. “ although it was clearly not earth it would suit are need. I moved the ship into geosynchronous orbit and flip the cloaking device. As I first looked upon the world, I notice that it had a form of intelligent life. In a continent the size of north and central America, my scans picked up over a hundred thousand cities, town and other landmarks that couldn't be made naturally. I was both excited and afraid. I was excited because I wouldn't have to live my life alone, beyond the computer to keep me company. I was afraid because well, you probability picked up on the factor that I’m a Trekkie. Well...Prime Directive. I believe that's all I have to say about that and if I don't, well...look it up. I took a great notice at the center of the continent where there was clearly a common architectural design beyond the northern most point where it seems to me a city make of crystal. Interested in my discovery, I reset the flight path to move me into view of the other side. What I saw was a site I wished a never laid eyes on. All though there was three time the land mass. The one thing I couldn't take my eyes off was a land mass the size of china witch look like there were three different countries. The more heartbreaking fact was that you could easily tell that the three countries had three distinct architecture but all in some way or another matches what I saw before. I guess what happened was that the three states went to war with each other and instead of rebuilding there states. They went out to build a new country where everybody was the same and equal. But without further study on the different regions, my story would have to be left to speculation. But one thing is for sure. Whenever this happen, it was a long time ago. I mean like Roman Empire long time ago.
The more I scan the region, the more I wonder about the brings that built this world. Mostly I don't see any form of living being in any of my scans. But the more detail I take in the ruins of this region, the more it look like it was built for some species that is on all fours. Or at least in some ways in other particularly in the state near the mountain range to the south. But when I tried to look more into the detail, the moon came around. And I saw something that would never happen in nature. I saw what looked like the head of a horse made out of some sort of field. And the more strange thing about it was that I quickly picked up an atmosphere within the field. Wondering why a species would look upon the stars instead of there own planet kind of scared me a bit for what lied ahead. So I figured I would start with this Lunar colony first and take steps from there. So I set course and headed towards the moon.
Chapter 2
Fight of the Century
“Captain's log, stardate 2107.22. I finally came to the planet and to my luck, it M class. There are signs of both life in general and intelligent life. Although I have yet to find any form of life beyond foliage, I would like to note that I have yet to do any extensive scans to the area around where I believe the intelligent life is currently living. What I find most mind boggling is the fact that this intelligent life form has what appears to be a colony on there only moon even though they have what appears to be no control or desire to claim 1/3rd of their planet. I'm currently moving towards this moon colony and I will report back when I have more info about this people.”
As I got into geosynchronous orbit around the barrier, my scans picked up some sort of radiation within the film of the barrier. “ can you tell me anything about this radiation computer” I inquired. “ only one fact. The properties of the radiation is an exact match to those found in the storm a week ago” the computer replied. “well, can we go thru it?” I asked and the computer answered simply “yes”. “good. Well, prepare for descent into the barrier” I ordered. Then the computer started compiling a list of things I needed to do before we could make the decent and I make quick hast to do them. It didn't take me long, only about five to ten minuets. As soon it was possible, I went into the control port locked myself in and started the the separation sequence. It went without a hitch and I flew the Farragut into the barrier leaving my rather bulky storage compartment in orbit.
I broke thru the barrier without a problem or I would have if any braking thru was necessary, but it wasn't. The barrier opened up like I was flying thru a gate or something. I quickly set up the autopilot and braised for landing. The Farragut witch at this point looks more like a fighter jet then a space ship was meant for landing with a runway. It does have the capability to land straight up and down, but it was designed based on the fact of arriving on mars. And the weird thing about this barrier was that it was creating a gravitational push on to the surface to create 1G. So making a vertical landing wasn't going to be easy or smooth in this environment, not to say that it would be better landing the other way, but it was going to be a rough landing. The landing was as clunky as predicted and I went to go grab some gear.
I was going to get my gear when I took note that the gravity was at 1.0 gs witch is strange given the fact that the moon is the same size as our. But I shook off the feeling and went to grab my gear. I looked at the monitor while I was passing by and saw that there was nobody outside, all there were was a big open void. Knowing this factor plus the outside was both at 1 ATM of pressure and that the air was breathable, I didn't go with a pressure suit and went with my combat armor and suspicion about there being nobody out there I also went to get a gun. I lifted the door and looked at my arsenal. I had the choice of four different guns. Two plasma rifles, both look like they could pass as Nerf dart guns. The first was rather big but it had power and range with it, I called it the plasma assault rifle or PAR for short. The second was smaller and design to be nimble and also to be able to break down to the point that it could be a sidearm. A beefy sidearm but a sidearm nevertheless, I called it the plasma carbine or just carbine. The third was a 45 caliber colt semi-auto and the last was an old British SMLE rifle. I went with the carbine and grabbed a couple of extra mags for safety and I made my way to the airlock. I got to the airlock and started to flip everything on, my gun, the suit hydraulic, and my motion tracker. I lifted the airlock door, almost ripping the door off out of a lack of practice with the armor. I turn down the strength and jumped down.
I landed in a semi crouch state going full crouch with a swing to glans at my surroundings. “nothing, simply nothing. How strange.” I said as my motion tracker updated. The coast was clear. Nothing to find. Dropping my guard, I took off the helmet to find that not only was the air pleasant that it smelled like I was in a flower filled meadow. I put back on the helmet and unplugged the air filter. As my HUD re updated, the motion tracker showed a single blip. I turned to see what it was to find it was a black speck than was about half a kilometer away and moving fast. I grabbed my rifle and prepared for some sort of greeting, friendly in nature. It was not. It took a quick potshot at me. It hit my armor leaving no trace, but the blow knocked me on my back. I quickly flipped to lay on my stomach and fired a few potshots back. It came around and landed about 15 to 20 meters away. “ You stupid peasant, you will learn to regret trying to hit me for I am Nightmare Moon” she said as if she is talking thru a bullhorn. “Hay moron. first off, you fired first. Second, if you could even imagine how I got here. You wouldn't be calling me stupid. And for the peasant remark well...” I said for she bugged out and flew away. Thinking that not a sign of retreat, I went for more better gear. I went inside grabbed the PAR, some extra power cells for my various equipment and a couple of extra gear like grenades and such. Then I ran for the airlock.
I jump out of my ship the same way as last time to fine Nightmare Moon waiting for me. “ even with you bigger toys, you will not be able to stop me.” she said with me quickly replying “yea, this is coming from the horse that looks like a villain from a Saturday morning cartoon for three year old girls.” “you will regret ever trying to fight me” she said with me quickly replying again “ less talk, more fight.” she flew up and went with the strafing run attack again. I quickly took aim at her wings and fired. Alto there was no visible damage, she drop like a rock. But she did land on her hooves and started galloping right at me shooting all the while. I dodge the shot but couldn't get the chance to aim before having to dodge again. Within seconds, she was right on top of me trying to bash me. But I was able to dodge, grab her horn and swing on her back using her size to my advantage. She started to shake and tried to buck me off, even trying to fly up but with her damage wing, that was not going to happen. I jammed my boots right under her wing I also grabbed her maim and release all of my power cell into her sensually turning myself into a human taser. She fought for a few seconds but drop like a rock shortly after.
I got off her replays my cells and scan her with my hand scanner to make sure she was out. Right after my hand scanner confirmed the fact, another dot showed up on my motion tracker. I quickly swung around getting ready for another fight to fine that this one didn't show any hostilities. I didn't drop my guard for a second when she came up to me and said “ fear not lone warrior, for I am a friend.” I quickly replied “ prove it” in witch she simple replied “ does tho attack you?” “no, I guess you have a point there. Who are you?” I said lowering my rifle for witch she humbly replied “I am princess Luna.”
Chapter 3
The Revealed Truth
“captain's log, supplemental. After landing on this planet's only moon. I have discovered that this barrier was not a lunar colony, but in fact a form of prison for a powerful “warlord” of some type. The only problem that I found with this was that it met the banishment of a very nice princess. Weather that title is self imposed or genuine has yet to be discovered.” As I finished the log entry and put my PAR away, I herd a commotion outside. I jump out the air lock shouldering my carbine only to find out that it was Luna tightening the ropes on nightmare moon. “what's going on?” I asked. “Nothing, just making sure she can't cause us trouble” she replied. Nightmare moon tried to say something but her mussel was tightly tighten and could not speak. “ what's she trying to say” I asked. “ nothing surprising, I’m sure.” she replied. My curiosity got the better of me and I started to untie her mussel. “I wouldn't do that if I were you” Luna said right before I finished undoing the not. “you ungrateful simpleton, you will regret this day for I will banish you to the plains of Tartarus where I'll...” she said before I tied the rope back on her mussel. “ I tried to worn you” Luna sneeringly said when I simple replied with “ SHUT UP.”
“So, if what you told me was true and this place is a prison. How did you end up here?” I asked. “well... I don't know how to say this so I'll just say it. I'm nightmare moon as well” she replied. Without a thought, I raised my carbine and asked “ how many of there are you!?” she, with grace, put her hoof on the barrel of my rifle and pushed down saying “ relax, there is only her and I. Although she and I are one and the same, we are both separate ponies.” I quickly jump back about 10 meters and took aim again. “if you think I’m going to believe that, then you have another think coming. So you better give me a little more to work with or you will never see, what did you call you home again?” I said as she looked at me with at modest look on her face. She started walking towards me and tried to put my gun down. I didn't give her the chance and step back. Afterward she said “ let me explain myself” and she started to tell me her story. From how her and her sister started to raise and lowered the sun and moon to how and why she became Nightmare moon and I just stood there and listen. What more could I do?
After she finished her story, I stood strong and said “ and what now?” She put her head down and said that she will return to Equestria within a month as Nightmare moon and that she didn't know how to prevent it. “ well, I could go down and meet you there if you get my meaning” I said. She looked at me looking dumbstruck and said “that was the most stupidest plan I have ever heard of ”. I simply ask why when she replied “ the last time a pony from another world came, calamity struck. ” I started to make the argument that we didn't have a choice in the matter when we heard rope breaking. We came around to find that Nightmare moon had escape and disappeared. She turned to me and said “my time is running out. You have to go to Equestria and warn my sister about my return.” “what happen to that's a bad idea?” I asked with her reply being “there is no time and you are the only hope for Equestria now, go. And tell my sister that I got her lullaby”. I quickly ran into my ship, switched into my standard suit, sealed the air locks and finished purging the air filters and took off for the planet.
After attaching the Secondary Systems, I started to make my way to the planet when a golden glow surround the moon and me along with it. As soon as it started, it was over and I quickly notice that the moon was moving a bit faster. But I shook it off thinking that it was only another example of there power and left it at that. As I flew towards the planet something about my current circumstance finally clicked. I met a talking horse. Up till then there was always something else to concentrate on. But now I realize what I just got myself into. I just entered the world of My Little Pony, or something like it. In with that came a stampede of stories I heard of the show (first Gen to be precise). But above all else, I knew. The road ahead of me, no mater how craze or how childish it was going to be, it was going to be bumpy, rough and dangerous road ahead.
I sustained orbit just an hour later and I started to look for someplace to land. I located a small set of caverns that would be big enough to fit my ship and set up a FOB there. The caverns were located west of the mountain city Luna stated that was the capital and the caverns should be sufficient to do what I need to do without attracting any attention to myself, or at least at I hoped. I started the same descent start up as I did last time but with one differences, I was going to bring everything down. I started to take my supplies into the main cabin and when I was done two hours later, I started to deflate the storage compartment. That took another hour and after I was all done, I went back into my control port and started to descend onto the planet.
As I started to make my decent I started to see the burn out. The flames that form around a ship when you hit the atmosphere. It was a wondrous site to behold but then I realized that this could mean that the ponies on the ground will know about my arrival. After the light show I made my way to the caverns and landed within one of the larger opening to hide myself and started to unpack. It took and some time but eventually I was able to get everything in a useable order but as I finish, what I feared would happen started. A saw patrols of Pegasi flying thru the air looking for something. That something was obviously me but they didn't knew what it was that came down. So with my bags unpacked, a military force looking for trouble. I did the only thing I could think of, Go to bed. Is been a long day for me and a guy can only go on for so long without a break. So with all the hope of a new friend and the fears of her counterpart, a lay in my cot and went out like a light.
