The day was bright and bustling. A filly trotted through town. Busy ponies rushing about. Cheerlie and Rarity were talking about the school play's costumes. Young Sweetie Drops and Ditsy Do ran about. Some adult ponies walked about. Young Fluttershy had been shopping for her family. The house's shadows cast to say it was early morning. Canterlot's silver, gold, and glass structures shone in the early daylight. The filly had walked to the outskirts checked to see if anypony was out here. The crisp and dew coated grass flattening under her.

She snickered softly as she trotted out of Ponyville, Intending on practicing her new super secret routine. Or rather, she planned on creating this super secret routine. She shivered as a gust of wind trailed by. Looking around, she saw no ponies. Her steady trot quickening, ears flattening down. The Rainbow mane was well kept to say the least. Her icey blue coat warm with the sun's heat. Her beautiful tail waving behind her. She jumped into the crisp air ,and as if on cue, her wings began to flap gently. Just enough to keep her hovering. "Should i go all out? Hold off til the end?" She asked aloud. As she contemplated, the young pony following her had stopped.

His dark blue mane laying to the side over one of his eyes. The pale sky blue coat blended well in the skys but not down here. He tossed his saddlebags on the green grass that closely looked like his eyes. He jumped and started to hover towards the pegasus. The adorable filly he'd been meaning to talk to. He was a year older than her ,but he was in love. He tapped her shoulder and yelped out "Hi!"

The mare was startled as a cold hoof touched her shoulder and the familiar "Hi" hit her ears. She flew forward and spun around to face the pony "Soarin? H-how'd you find me?" She was half yelling at him for scaring her ,and  interrupting her practice. She saw his eyes fall to the ground.

"I uhm...followed you...at least I didn't bring Spitfire and Cloudchaser right?" He was given very little to react to her hostile glare at the mention of their names. He backed up a bit ,and said "I'm sorrry...I'll leave." He turned to fly away his. He felt defeated. Clearly she came out here to practice. He really wanted her to know how he felt.

She was surprised by how down he looked. Her hoof instinctively reached out to stop him. "No, don't leave. My secret won't be released as long as you say nothing." She aimed to reassure him. But she was caught of guard by something she never expected. His voice came out, but sounded less energized as a moment ago.

"Rainbow. I just..." He looked down as he let out a long sigh, sounding depressed and pain filled. "I really need to tell you something." Tears started to form ,and his voice started to waver as he said this. He was afraid of rejection.

"Yeah Soar is something wrong?" Rainbow's voice was etched with worry at the sight of him. Suddenly he turned away, and covered his eyes. Did she just see tears? She put a hoof on his shoulder "Soar you're making me worried dude" He spun around. Tears drenching his cheeks. "I love you, but i don't think you love me back and i didn't want to be rejected!" He flew off but could barely see resulting in him crashing on the ground. He stopped and lay there.

He loves me...i didn't think he did...She thought to herself. She hurried to get to him. He was sobbing. She had to say something "Soar, i didn't know you felt the same way, but I just wanted to a-" her sentence was lost in a kiss. Soarin kissed her. Both blushed but soon melted into it. She broke away ,and hugged him tightly.

Suddenly a mocking and crude voice that they found obvious rang in the peaceful air. "Well, well, well...looks like a certain pony lied to me." Soarin let out a low snarl. Rainbow split from her love to growl out the word "you" The enraged couple glared daggers at the smug mare. She had firey hair of orange and yellow. Her pale yellow coat shining in the sunlight. "Thought you said you didn't have a crush on her Soarin."

His eyes met hers. A mocking, but brutally hurtful pair glared at him. "What do you want...Spitfire?" Her name made him whimper. She gave him a taunting smile. All bets aside, Spitfire could easily knock Soarin out. He was usually avoiding the demon of Ponyville Flight Team. Now he was face to face with her.

"Well Soarin I came to find you so I could tell you coach wants you off the team. You've been missing so many practices. It's a wonder how you got in? Just to let you know the top team members go to Wonderbolt Academy. The most prestigious of schools, but unfortunately you won't be." The last part sounded sarcastic. His heart fell. He always dreamed of being in the Wonderbolt Academy. Now his dreams were crushed.

"What? He can't go?" Rainbow was on the verge of punching Spitfire into next year. She was the coach's daughter. That was completely unfair. She snapped. Hitting Spitfire and starting a fight.

Hours Later, Soarin lay ,hoof wrapped around Rainbow, he'd gotten a black eye trying to stop the fight. His heart was trying to mend itself. Rainbow was bruised but other than that fine.

"You feeling okay?" She asked worriedly. His smiled at her.

"My eye hurts, but I'm okay." He was still depressed but worry was not what he wanted to have happen. He lightly kissed her forehead.

After a moment she'd fallen asleep. Her soft snores gently coaxing Soarin to sleep. The night came then the next morning. Soarin awoke to a note.

Dear Soarin.

I'll meet you at ponyville plaza tonight.

Love R.D.
