In Equestria, eons ago, There were 2 sisters that ruled side by side. One raised the sun and the other the moon. The younger sister grew jealous of the older sisters attention in her daylight, and slumber in her night. She transformed into Nightmare Moon, wanting to rule in eternal night. Her sister banished her with the Elements of Harmony, to the moon, for 1,000 years. At her return, 6 mares came together to defeat Nightmare Moon and turn her back into Princess Luna.

When the Nightmare finds it's way out of its prison, the Mane 6 are notified. Anyone living in Equestria could be it's next target.
