After Sunset

I have only ever heard stories of my sister Sunset Shimmer.

My father speaks of her rarely but when she is mentioned he praises her.

She was so skilled at Magic.

She was accepted into Celestia's school for gifted unicorns just like mother, father and I.

Sunset had some crazy power and was accepted as Celestia's own personal student.

I was able to cast an age spell.

I am only 7 and I cast a perfect age spell.

Yet I can never be as good as Sunset Shimmer.

That is what mother tells me.

"Sunset was Celestia's personal student and you can't even get an A*+ award!"

Only princess Luna understands.

Luna visits the school regularly and she saw one of my mothers letters of ridicule.

Luna has been tutoring me so I can impress her.

She was living in the shadow of an older sister.

She was resented by her family and left alone.

She relates to the moon and her sister relates to the sun like me and my sister.

Sunset Shimmer and Moonlight Shine.

In a way I am Luna's personal student.

If I told mother she would be impressed.

If I told father he may even smile

But it would still not be enough to beat Sunset Shimmer.

"Sunset was Celestia's student. Celestia's the important one"

I made the mistake of lashing out at them once.

"Well at least I'm still here!" I shouted

"At least I didn't run away to another universe!"

I was left on the doorstep that night.

I was too badly beaten to move so I just lay there.

I wish I had met my sister.

I wish I could tell her how much mother and father miss her.

They don't want me.

They never wanted me.

They just wanted a new sunset.

But I wasn't good enough for them.

I couldn't ever be as perfect as sunset.

I couldn't ever be as smart as sunset.

I couldn't ever be as gifted as sunset shimmer was.

I am just the sloppy seconds.

The only option they had.

Today we were told that sunset is a hero in the realm she resides in.

Sunset saved the school from a siren attack.

Sunset is friends with the elements of harmony.

Even though she isn't here she still beats me at everything.

Just as mother and father were starting to think well of me.

Sunset has ruined my life.

She doesn't even know I exist.

I want her to come home just to meet me.

I want her to come home just to tell mother and father that I am good.

Just to compliment me on my magic.

I just want to be loved.

I just want to have a family that cares.

They will never care as long as sunset has existed.

I can't stop her from being real.

My life can never be happy.

Sunset has cursed me to have eternal shame.

I am just a burden on the family name.
