Rainbow's Perspective
"We got the last one!" I heard one of Lee's bat pony guards yell out. "The city's clear from what we can tell," One of the bat ponies flew up to me, the one with the firearm... the one that was with Lee.
"Wait, where's Lee?" I asked her, I cast my eyes down to the city below. I didn't see him anywhere! "Lee!" I yelled, he wasn't in the streets.
"Shit!" The bat pony cursed, looking down as well. "He was with Breeze a while ago!"
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp! Somepony Help!" I heard somepony scream, was that Lyra?
A massive earth shattering explosion from nearby caught my attention, looking down into the street where I heard the scream I saw an entire block go up in flames and send debris flying everywhere Holy shit!. I heard the screeches of those things and cursed, some of them must still be alive! I dashed off towards the smoke, the batpony following close behind me. I saw ponies running from the scene, and a few braver ones headed towards the smoke, what happened?!
Another explosion once I came into sight of the shop, the entire front end of the store exploded outward, sending glass shards and crystal pieces flying along with a few mutants. Inside I saw a huge golden fire, wait... gold? The inside of the shop was encased in a golden aura, and the ground shook as the mutants practically cowered from whoever was doing it. Inside I saw a pony, a unicorn with glowing white eyes, mane and tail whipping around from the intense magical power being thrown around.
Jeez! Even if I didn't know much about magic, even I could tell this was powerful! It felt on par with Twilight just about, I could feel the magic coursing through my body as several pulses of energy blasted out of the shop's ruins with the force of a griffon artillery cannon, parts of the shop caught fire and disintegrated into ash, and the mutants, they were blasted into nothing, and the ones who weren't hit directly were sent flying away, smashing into buildings and crushed by the pure and raw magical pressure.
Thankfully the magical attack ended, maybe they knew where Lyra and Lee were! Turning towards the shop, I could make out a mint green unicorn... "Lyra!" That was her magical pressure?! I flapped my wings and flew into the shop, being mindful of the scorching hot crystal she had somehow melted, I thought that stuff was... I don't know, magic proof! She fucking blasted the city block apart!
Lyra was standing in the middle or the room, she was covered in blood and she held up her front leg, a closer look showed it was hurt bad, her mane and tail was covered in debris and pieces of crystal had formed around her in spikes, jutting forward in a form of protective barrier laced with golden fire. The poor mare's eyes were bloodshot, and I saw tears running down her cheeks.
I slowly approached her, reaching out and touching her shoulder. "Lyra," I whispered as I heard ponies behind me, I heard the leathery flap of the bat ponies as they landed, and started towards me. "What happened?"
Lyra was breathing heavily, her eyes were blinking erratically. "Lee," she started, her voice a tiny whimper. "He's hurt, bad." She told me as more tears started to fall from her eyes, my own eyes went wide. "Help... him." Was the last thing she said before she fell forward, I managed to catch her before she hit the floor, she felt hot to the touch and feverish.
Behind her, surrounded by more of those golden flames I saw Lee, he was leaned up against the wall, his eyes closed and sword by his side. Wounds covered him and he looked like he had been beaten severely. "Lee!" I cried as one of the bat ponies came over and took Lyra from me. I dashed over to my human, checking him head to toe, I became aware I was stepping in the gold fire, but it didn't harm me. "Lee, Lee, come on talk to me." I begged, putting a hoof on the side of his face.
A tiny moan of pain, followed by blinking eyes and I saw those beautiful bright blue eyes of his looking at my own. "Ello D-Dashie." He cracked a smile.
I couldn't help it, it might have hurt a little for him but, I kissed him. He weakly returned it and it lasted for a few seconds before I pulled away. "Lee, what happened?" I asked him, he looked like shit.
But he's my shit.
"Fought Sombra head on," He told me, making me fume. Sombra did this!? That... ugh! "Bad idea on my part, but..." He held up a fist, arm shaking. "I managed to get plenty of hits in, stabbed him right in the chest." He chuckled as blood flowed from his mouth, "he fucked me up pretty good though, shit." He looked like he just realized something, his eyes went wide and he looked around the shop, "Where's Lyra? Is she-"
One of the bat ponies cut him off, "she is alright my liege, injured and exhausted her magic, but well."
My human sighed in relief as his eyes landed on Lyra's form, then he looked around the shop, one eyebrow rising as he saw the destruction. He looked shocked, and slightly amused. "Did... Lyra..."
I nodded my head, "yeah, she..." I looked back towards the unicorn, I still couldn't believe she had such raw power within her, I felt Twilight at her highest before, and Lyra...
I think she may be at her level...

Lee's Perspective
One hour later
Ow, ow, ow, ow. I mentally complained as I limped out of the shop, I'm surprised I can still stand after I was sent flying. I was half expecting to be sent back to the hospital and put in a bed, but... eh, the most I got was a sprain, several dozen cuts, and from what I was told from the doctors and Twilight, I had Dark Magic poisoning and had to get it purged. Oh I was in the hospital, but not confined to a bed, thank god.
I was too sexy for beds.
I was sitting in one of the rooms, Rainbow on my right with a wing wrapped around my back protectively. She was in full pegasus protective mode, like an angry mama bird or something. My sword was sitting on the bed beside me, and I was glad I had it, the thing really helped out in that battle. Granted I suck at fighting, I was still able to kick some major ass.
But my thoughts right now, were on Lyra Heartstrings. I wondered what had happened to her, I didn't know she was so fucking strong in the magic department, and what I saw... that was way out of her league, it looked like Celestia walked into the shop and exploded or something!
"Hey," I heard Twilight's oh so innocent and adorable nerdy voice greet us as she came into the room.
I gave her a nod, then I asked, "How is Lyra doing?"
She gave me a deep sigh, rubbing the bridge of her nose with a hoof. "She's stable for now, but..."
Uh oh, there's a but, I don't like BUTS! "What, what is it?" I questioned, damn it I told her to run, why did she stay!?
"She's exhausted all of her magic with, whatever it was she did," She sat down, I knew the look of frustration when I saw one. She was seriously confused and frustrate right now. "Are you certain she was using magic, and it wasn't one of those things?" She asked Rainbow Dash.
"I told you before Twi, it was her!" My girlfriend said, a defensive tone to her voice. "She was... I don't know, full on magic mode or something, she blasted half of the block away!"
I believed it, as hard as it might be to believe something so cute and tiny could have such power.
However, Twilight shook her head. "I scanned the area, and it was magic, but... it was beyond anything I've ever seen!" She threw her hooves into the air, groaning. "I don't understand how she could do such a thing!"
Suddenly, a harmonious voice chimed in. "I do, Twilight."
Looking towards the door I saw Celly standing there, Luna by her side. "Princess?" I asked, tilting my head and raising an eyebrow. I demand an-sores!
Celestia nodded towards me, then said, "Lyra Heartstrings, I remember her fondly back during the school." She had the look of fond remembrance on her face, no doubt thinking of a more simpler time. "She was a pony with superb magical talent, I dare say, she was almost near Twilight's level."
"What Type was she?" Twilght asked her, a curious tone to her voice.
Wait...
Types? Like... Pokemon?
"If I remember correctly, she was a Type Three unicorn." Princess Celestia replied, "only three lower then you Twilight."
"Wait wait wait... hold up," I waved my hands in front of me, getting everyone's attention. "Types? WTF bro?"
"Oh that's right, nopony has told you, Lee?" Celly asked me, when I shook my head, she hummed. "Unicorns come in several different Types, zero being the lowest with six being the highest on the Alicornia Scale of Magical Power," I nodded, following so far. "Twilight herself is a level six, which is two levels higher then what she used to be."
"Hmm, let me guess..." I thought back to every game I've ever played. "If I'm guessing right, then Type Five's are like super rare?" Celestia nodded her head. "So Twilight is a level six, that's basically Alicorn status right? So... which is Lyra?"
Celestia, to my shock actually looked nervous. "Lyra, when I first met the mare, as a young filly she displayed a talent for extraordinary manipulation control and focus, she was... very good at multitasking her spells, and her control far out rivaled Twilight's"
Whoa, Lyra's got more control then Twilight? I looked over at my bookworm friend, who looked shocked at what her former mentor was telling her. I guess anybody would be shocked when your teacher tells you that one of your classmates has abilities that make yours suck in comparison. I chuckled inwardly.
"Lyra was a Type four, the same Type as Twilight." Celestia continued. "While uncommon, it wasn't unheard of for more then a few Type four's to appear..."
Wait... "You said was... that's past tense! What happened?"
I regretted asking when a sad frown crossed my friend's face, "an incident at the graduation ceremony."
I saw Twilight's face change from interest to horror, I forgot she went to the same school... she must have seen whatever happened. "I'm... probably going to regret asking this, but... this incident..."
Celestia looked away, and I could tell the very memory of whatever happened was making her sad. Twilight stepped in as Luna hugged her sister. "The incident, not a lot of ponies talk about it..." Twilight's eyes looked towards the floor, "it... it was about eight years ago, all of the ponies were attending the ceremony, it was a wonderful day." She smiled, "everypony's dreams were coming true that day. But... but then everything changed."
Oh the suspense, I know this is horrible but why must she do this to me!?
"Wendigos attacked the school," Twilight said at last, I could see Celestia flinch out of the corner of my eye, and I felt for her. "None of us were ready for it, not even the guards could stop them... a lot of ponies were seriously hurt that day... and Lyra... she was one of the ones hurt."
I found this all oh so interesting, but I was sick of the build up. "What did the Wendigos do though, how does this tie into her magic Type?"
"The Wendigos zapped her with some sort of dark magic spell," Twilight recalled, rubbing her head. "It infused with her horn, and affected her mana and her body... it broke her Lee." She whispered, as I slowly tried putting the pieces together.
Zapped with dark magic, hit her horn and fucked up her mana and her body... wait... did... did it affect her Type somehow? I turned towards the alicorn being comforted by her sister. "Celestia... the spell... it screwed up her magic didn't it?" I got several nods from my friends, Rainbow was just sitting quietly beside me, slowly absorbing everything being said.
"She almost died that day..." Celestia told me, "it took a massive amount of my magic to keep her and the others alive... however, she never recovered."
Wait, she... she can still use magic though! "But, she can use magic, I've seen her levitate shit! You can't tell me she lost her magic."
Twilight nodded her head though, shutting me up. "Levitation is the most basic of spells... its the only one she was able to do, along with some minor light casting spells... other then that, she was powerless."
That doesn't make any sense! I've seen her do other spells! "What about just today! She fucking destroyed an entire city block for fucks sake, you can't tell me that was just a load of bullshit."
There was silence in the room for some time, and I was silently fuming. Lyra wasn't no fucking slouch! Whatever she did... she saved my life, and while I'm a bit pissed she ignored me, I can forgive her for it. But if what they're saying is true... then how did she use so much magic? My mind hurts... like, it is crying out in pain cause of this bullshit happening right now.
"I am not sure what happened... but when I checked Lyra..." Celestia turned towards me, her eyes having a sort of light to them. "She's... I don't know how to put it, but somehow she has her magic back..."
I sighed in relief, well shit, got me worried all for nothing. "Well... that's good right?" I asked her, Twilight turned towards her former mentor as well, wondering the same question as me I bet.
Celestia, however gave me a serious look. Uh oh, what did I do?
"I am not sure how this happened, Lee but... she is no longer a Type Four..." The alicorn started, so what... she's a Type Three then?
"Okay, stop with all of this suspense shit and just fucking tell me." I groaned, facepalming. This was getting old, really fast.
"Lee, Lyra has somehow become a Type Five... bordering on Type Six..."
My brows furrowed as Twilight gawked along with Luna, I looked down at the floor in thought. Twilight was a Type Four before becoming an alicorn... she was zapped into dust and turned into an alicorn thanks to Celly, she completely bypassed Type Five... so, Lyra... I looked up at the alicorns. "Lyra... she's almost at the level of an alicorn?" I said slowly, getting a nod from Celestia.
"Something like this... hasn't happened in a several millennium... Type Five unicorns... there are none that I know of, and if they do exist they are hiding somewhere, but as far as I know... Lyra is the only Type Five in all of Equestria." Celestia told us all.
...
I only had one thing to say about this...
"Awesome..."
-ooo000=+=000ooo-
After that, little talk, I found myself standing outside of Lyra's room, looking in through one of the windows. She had been moved into an ICU after they found her tainted by some of Sombra's magic, she was being purged as I was thinking. She looked so weak, her color had dimmed, and she was hooked up to so many machines she looked like she was being turned into a fucking robot.
Sombra... you did this to my friend... I put my hand on the glass, staring at the injured form of Lyra. I'm going to hurt you very severely for this you ass hat.
"She'll be alright, Lee." I heard Rainbow speak up from beside me, patting my back with her wing. "She's tough, always has been."
A smile hit my face, and I nodded. "I know..." I sighed, thinking. "I never knew she was... fucked up like that," I said quietly, I took Rainbow's silence as a means to continue. "She was always so cheerful and loony, and she had to deal with this for the past eight years... she never told me, and it kinda hurts, Dash," I said, watching the slow rise of Lyra's body as she breathed through a fucking tube of all things. "I'm going to fuck up Sombra for this."
I felt Rainbow stand up on her hind legs, hugging me from the side. "She's my friend too, I want to kick his ass as much as you do." She said, leaning her head against my arm as she sighed through her nose.
I wrapped my arm around her as we stood in silence, just watching through the window at our friend. My sword was on my back, and I felt a tickle of something against the side of my head, my eyes darted to the right and I saw Rainbow's feather hanging from the hilt next to my head. The light seemed to reflect off of it, and it was moving ever so slightly, and it was pointing at Lyra's room. Why was it doing that?
A quiet gasp, then Rainbow poked me. "Lee, look."
Turning, I looked back into the room, and I saw Lyra's eyes opening slowly, golden irises looking around the room before looking our way, landing on me in particular. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she looked so tired. I turned towards the door, gripping the knob as Rainbow let me go and followed me. I opened the door and went inside as I heard someone trot up to me.
"Sir, you're not supposed to go in there!" I heard a nurse tell me, in a scolding voice.
I ain't a child!
"Try and stop me." I responded, heading into the room as the nurse galloped off, no doubt to tell one me. I went into the room, and was hit by several smells, and the sounds of equipment functioning. Lotta beeping noises, freaking hospitals I swear. I saw Lyra was watching me with a tired smile, Rainbow had jogged over to her before I could do anything.
"Hey Lyra," Rainbow greeted, carefully nuzzling Lyra on the cheek before pulling away.
Aww that was sweet... wait... what is this sorcery? I wondered, Rainbow and Lyra were friends, but I didn't think they were like, nuzzle buddies or something.
The mint green unicorn smiled softly, "I'm fine, just... tired." She said.
No kidding. I noted, looking at Lyra's condition. She was covered in bandages around her hooves and fetlocks, her mane was still a bit dirty, and her fur was singed in some places. But the weirdest thing was on her horn, it was a tad bit longer then I remember, and there were crystal growths on it. "Jeez, Lyra... you look like shit." I chuckled, getting a bigger smile from her.
"I've noticed, if I had known you were creeping, o-outside my room I would have gotten cleaned up." She grinned, before breaking out into a coughing fit.
Shit, I came over to her side. "Need anything?" I asked as Rainbow eyed her with concern.
Lyra shook her head. "Can you get me out of this bed?" She asked.
I cracked a smile, "and all this time I remember you asking me to get you into bed, that fight must have changed you." I chuckled as Lyra joined in, Rainbow soon after. The three of us shard a tiny laugh, but that was broken when the door opened up and in stepped Princess Celestia and one of the doctors.
"You're not supposed to be in here!" The doctor yelled, before being shushed by Celestia. Behind her I saw Cadence looking in with a smile, shrugging her shoulders.
"It is alright," Celestia said, gesturing for him to leave, he didn't look so happy but he did it anyway, leaving only me, Celestia and Lyra in the room. "How are you feeling, Lyra?"
Lyra coughed softly, struggling to sit up but my pushing her back down gently made her stay put. "I'm fine... just really tired, and my horn hurts." She said, shaking.
The princess nodded her head, smiling a gentle smile. Then she turned to me. "Lee, may I speak with you for a moment?"
I gave her a questioning look, but nodded. I turned back towards my girlfriend and Lyra. "I'll be back in a bit, you two girls catch up~" I told them as I turned about face, flashing both a wink as I strutted out of the room, hand on hip and hand held outward.
I had to look fabulous of course.
Now to see what good ol Celly wanted.

Rainbow's Perspective
I watched as Lee walked out of the room in that weird way as the princess followed with a shake of her head. Me and Lyra only laughed at it, he was so silly sometimes, but I loved that about him. Turning back towards Lyra, I saw her eyes lingering on the door, and I saw something in her eyes that looked strangely familiar. "Lyra... are you okay?" I asked her.
She gulped, her breathing becoming heavy as her eyes misted over, oh jeez. "Rainbow..." She whimpered, turning to look at me. "I'm scared." She choked, tears flowing from her eyes as she started to cry.
I hopped onto the hospital bed, thankfully the bed was pretty big so I didn't fall off. I laid down next to her and wrapped a wing around her, "Hey hey hey, don't cry, what's going on, what's wrong?"
I don't think I've ever seen Lyra so scared, I could see it in her tear filled eyes. Something was scaring her, and I needed to know what. I wiped away the tears with the tip of my wing and held her close, Lyra was another exception to close hugs and stuff like that, like Lee, so I could be like that around her, heck, we're close friends.
I actually contemplated dating her once, never worked out.
"Lyra, come on talk to me, what's wrong?" I asked her, trying to coax something out of my friend. What had her so scared?
I saw her gulp, and felt her shudder against me, I tightened my hold against her. "I thought he was go-going to die, Rainbow." She told me.
She's talking about Lee... "He's okay, he's alive because of you, I can't thank you enough for keeping him safe." I whispered to her, nuzzling the top of her head softly.
"He told me to run... he told me to run..." She cried softly, burying her head against my chest. "I couldn't run! I didn't, I couldn't!"
"Lyra, its okay, don't worry abo-" what she said next... I couldn't have expected...
"I love him, Dash!" She sobbed, clutching onto me as my eyes went wide. "I love him so much."
...What?
