Sunset, Twilight, and Trixie are all daughters of Celestia after a fierce battle that leaves them homeless foals. Under her guidance the three fillies are raised with love and care in a sheltered life. They frolic happily around the castle and never leave, and completely unaware of the war raging outside their walls.

But innocence can't last forever and especially when loved ones are put in danger. Forced to grow up the fillies will learn the harsh realities of a dark world centered around their mothers dark past; as well as their own.
