A Second Chance

(1 Week Later Manehattan Torian`s POV)

Today was an important day in Equestrian History as the first largest ocean liner was about to be launched and I get to name and christen the ship myself. Based on the blueprints, I based the hull off another vessel known as the RMS Berengaria.

When the Princess sent me the letter that the ship`s hull and decks were completed, I was excited to go and see my dream put into action and grabbed my marefriend and friends and we took a train to Manehattan where the construction took place but after the launch the vessel still needs time to be outfitted with the furnishings, silverware, etc. I was really surprised that they finished the hull in less than 3 weeks, I bet the Princesses got the best construction ponies for the job and got it done effieciently.

When we disembarked the train, Manehattan was a lot like New York, even though I never visited, but I have seen pictures of the city`s skyline.

"Wow, so this is a city." I sighed in wonder as this was all new for me.

"Yes indeed, Isn`t it amazing, darling?" Rarity asked.

"I`ve never been to a city, I was more of the "less urban, but not too rural" kind of person, like Ponyville." I explained. "Now, I wonder where the shipyard is at so we can make it to the launch?" I began to wonder.

"Oh, don`t worry, I have ways darling." Rarity then trotted over to a stallion and began to sweet-talk him.

"What do you want?"

"Oh I was wondering if a handsome stallion like yourself could lead a lady where the new liners launch is?" Rarity batted her eyes.

"Um... I well" Ths stallion began to stutter.

"Its alright if you dont know, I guess I`ll have traveled to Manehattan all for nothing then." Rarity sighed in a fake defeat, but it got the stallion to talk.

"Wait, Its located at Hoofland and Wolff Shipyards that is not too far from here, Just make a left at Trottinburg street and you shouldn`t miss it."

"Thanks, darling." Rarity trotted back to us and I must say that was quite impressive. "Follow me everypony and person."

We followed Rarity through Manehattan`s busy streets and almost overcrowded sidewalks for about the next 10 minutes before we finally arrived at the shipyard known as 'Hoofland and Wolff'. We entered the shipyard and seeing a huge crowd we all looked up to see the bow of the newly-built ship adorned with flags that hung off the railing.

"Whoa, that ship looks cool, but I can`t wait to see it sail." Rainbow commented with enthusiasm.

"I must agree, That there ship looks like a fine piece of work." Applejack agreed.

There must have been a lot of ponies based on the crowd we were seeing, We also so happened to be near the front of the podium that was also in front of the ship. Then Princesses Celestia and Luna walked up onto a podium and spoke out.

"Greetings to you all, Today is a glorious day for Equestria and with help from our designer, we have constructed Equestria`s first steam-powered liner." Celestia started as Luna took over. "Our designer is the human we all know as Torian Scotterian, please come up with us."

The ponies cheered and stomped their hooves in applause as I made my way up to the podium and looked over the crowd that looked as if an entire country was present. I felt nervous but I remained calm and began to speak.

"Friends, I never thought I would see the day of my greatest dream, just moments away from becoming a reality, I wish to thank all the builders, welders and others who helped make this possible, especially our Highness's." I paused for a moment for a round of applause given to all the ponies who helped build this titan before I continued. "So without further delay, I call upon the great gods above us, to protect this fair ship and all its members and passengers and may she set sail til the end of her career, I hereby name this vessel, the HMS Warrior."

I took a bottle of Apple Cider and smashed it on the bow of the vessel and pulling the switch next to me, the blockage stopping the ship`s stern from sliding back was removed and the Warrior began sliding into the water for the first time. The crowd cheers as the mass of steel slid into the water for the first time and as the bow hit the water some tugs were on standby to stop and guide the vessel into her dry-dock for outfitting.

As she floated in the water, the launch was a success and the tugs threw some rigging onto the bow and towed the Warrior into her dry dock for outfitting and furnishing. I remained at the podium and the Princesses and my friends walked up next to me and watched the Warrior being towed.

"That was a mighty fine launch." Applejack said with happiness.

"Yeah, but um how long until she is ready to sail?" Fluttershy asked timidly.

"About a month, Our construction crews had been working on the lifeboats, the davits, propellers and when the hull was completed." Luna responded.

"Man, 16 years Ive been waiting for this day and many people said it would fail, but this proved them wrong, I may not say this much, but you are the best friends and marefriend Ive ever had and I wish to return the favor by issuing you all First class tickets for when the Warrior is complete." I said with great gratitude and the ponies cheered and we all came in for a group hug as the liner began her outfitting.
